Dirt & mold

This place was terrible. It took literally 8 phone calls and my son going in person to make sure everything was good on their end. Besides being dirty, the check in process was long and they told me I had a balance even though I already paid. I had to pay again and now I get to fight with Expedia to get a refund. The front desk help visibly was unprepared to do their job correctly. After an hour of trying to check in, we got our room key. I will never deal with this establishment EVER again. They made my one day visit upsetting even crying. I can't express enough to the public do not stay here!!!

Nicer than you would expect!

This is one of two Carpenteria Motel 6s, and this one is a little nicer. It's built in a rectangle around a pool, and those inner rooms feel like your staying at some place a bit nicer than Motel 6. Everyone talks like Motel 6 is the trashiest motel ever, but I think they're perfectly fine, and great for the price. Everything was clean and quiet, the staff was friendly, and I can bring my dog with no issues or extra fees. Plus the price is a fraction of anything else in town. I found it annoying that there's no door between the bathroom (toilet/shower) and sink area, but that's not a deal breaker for me. The only reason I didn't give five stars is that the wi-fi stopped working every evening, and I needed to use it. Very annoying. But even with that, I'd be happy to come again. Can't beat the value for the Santa Barbara area.

OK... Motel 6 is not where I would normally stay. Ever. However, the prices in the Santa Barbara are astronomical. Ridiculous. For the amount of time that we were actually planning to be in the room, I figured "why not." I'd stayed at Motel 6 once before in Arizona (and had a phenomenal experience.) The rooms are basic. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. I forgot about that element. But the rooms are clean. Very clean. I would take a super clean room over an amenity-rich room any day. Another plus: there's actually a decent selection of TV channels. (Was able to watch stuff before bed, which was nice. Trust me -- I didn't stay hanging out in the room all day.) The cost of two nights here was about the cost of one night in Santa Barbara proper. The location of the property is phenomenal. We walked everywhere during our stay. Didn't drive at all for anything we did in Carpinteria. The manager is also extremely friendly; you can tell she has a lot of pride in the property. There is a pool on site (no hot tub). I didn't visit it, so can't comment on it. 2022: 39/100

Second attempt at checking in to my room, someone must've gotten up to go to the restroom.

Booked a room today, 8/6/23 and made my way to the destination. Went to check in and the woman at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant during the check-in process. After selecting a room and floor, made my way up only to find it locked from the inside with the security latch. Laughed it off and made my way to the front desk for a new room, boy what a mistake. After making my way back upstairs and locating my room I walked in to find a complete mess. I'm shocked I didn't walk in on anybody, either sleeping or fornicating. Two attempts were all my patience could handle so I politely asked for a refund and was issued one. Very doubtful I'll ever return, to this Motel 6 or any other.

Here you see the mold Spurs that a forming in the bathroom along the wall

There is mold is the bathroom not too sure that it is safe for people to be staying here. Not too sure why they would host people here if things were like that. This needs to change for the safety of the host, cleaners, and clients who come here to work and stay

I waited for a while at check in before being "greeted" by a homely blonde, tight lipped woman with glasses, slightly resembling Angela from "the office" who was very short with me, and seemed to be in a terrible mood and taking it out on a customer. I wasn't going to let her get to me so I avoided her my entire weekend there. Life is too short to argue with people who are seemingly miserable. I did however, have a very wonderful dinner at the restaurant downstairs even though I had no reservations they sat me and the food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. Although I will say, they do seem to be understaffed and overworked. Luckily the rest of my visit was nice. Room was pretty clean and pool was nice and not too crowded. Would be willing to give her another chance if somebody else, would greet you with a smile at the front and that's all I have to say!

The accomodations there were absolutely gorgeous. I actually can't wait for a reason to go back again soon. DETAILS... This was the perfect place a get-away weekend with my husband. The garden and suites are all beautifully arranged on the property, the garden had a beautiful layout, the pool and jacuzzi were amazing (seriously amazing), and our dog had just as much fun as we did. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The suite was clean, the TV had an HDMI cable that we were able to hook our computer up to to watch Netflix, the bed was very comfy and clean, and bathroom was very clean, and the overall space was exactly what we were looking for. There are enough parking spots for all of the guests, and all of the guests were very low-key and pleasant to be around. Although all of the suites were rented out we actually barely ran into everyone and it felt as if we had the entire area to ourselves. I think one of the biggest perks on top of all these amenities is that our dog was allowed to enjoy the place just as much as we were. We are looking forward to another reason to take a trip up to Santa Barbara/Montecito area so we can stay here again! I would definitely recommend this place.

I wish I had listened to other reviews and stayed somewhere else. It was loud the entire time but the hotel did provide complimentary ear plugs. And there is a train that comes by that is even louder. -Paid for an Oceanfront View but in the pictures you'll see that from the patio, those hedges are too high for an unobstructed view of the ocean so try to get a balcony room for a better view. -No WIFI -Rooms could use a refresh. THE FRONT DESK HUNG UP ON ME!!!…read more Unfortunate Experience! I come to Carpinteria several times a year as a local from Simi Valley, but my recent stay at Casa Del Sol was disappointing. I prepaid $376.99 via Expedia, which included a $30 property fee. After checking out, I saw an extra $35 charge on my card. When I called the front desk at around 4 PM on my day of checkout, to clarify why my bill was $411.50 she informed me that an extra $17 a night was charged for property fees. I explained that Expedia had already collected a $30 property fee ($15/night), meaning I was being double-charged. She told me it was "my problem" and an issue they deal with all the time with Expedia, then hung up on me. Beyond the billing issue, the property has zero staff on-site until the 3:00 PM check-in time, so no early assistance or check-in is available. The room was quite small, the floors left our feet dirty, and the free breakfast was not something we could eat. Disappointing service all around, and I won't be returning. Even though California is huge, many of us locals travel it often. These tourist towns forget that locals support them! I come to Carpinteria all the time. This is no way to treat anyone, local or visitor, and hanging up on a customer is completely unacceptable.

We were eventually directed to pull up to the complementary valet circle, as there weren't any other parking options. Fortunately, the property is so beautiful in every direction that I didn't even mind getting lost. We visited over Labor Day weekend and had a 3:00 p.m. reservation, with the last available seating at 3:30. Surprisingly, only three other tables were occupied. We originally chose to sit outside but moved indoors once it started drizzling, making us the only guests dining inside. Our window-side table gave us an enchanting view of hummingbirds and dragonflies appearing among the nearby branches. Afternoon tea is $120 per person for outside visitors. All dining is included for guests staying overnight at the ranch, which may explain why the tea service was so quiet. The Earl Grey and white jasmine teas were both good, but not exceptional. However, the majority of pastries were exceptional, which lent to justify the price. Unfortunately, with the door to the Stonehouse remaining open, two flies circled our table for nearly the entire service, which became a persistent irritation and noticeably diminished an otherwise peaceful experience. This prompted a less than 5 star rating. We almost finished everything, but each left with a full stomach and to-go box containing three or four pastries. My favorite part was walking around the grounds after tea. The landscaping is absolutely breathtaking, especially the rose garden. Everything had a secluded, romantic, magical quality. It wasn't crowded and was a perfect setting for photos, which ultimately helped make the price feel worthwhile. Would I pay $120 to repeat the experience? Probably not, especially with the annoying flies. But as a one-time experience with delicious pastries, a private dining experience with excellent service, and opportunity to explore one of the most gorgeous properties I've visited, I would recommend the visit.
