They came out piping hot. The buffalo garlic was listed under hot sauces but it is not hot IMO. We had carrots and celery with blue cheese on the side. We had also ordered onion rings - they came out hot but we would skip them next time - kind of bland. The place was packed, so it was a little tough to get service but the staff was hustling. Our server was was very friendly and helpful when we were able to get her to our table. TomKen's gives typical Wisco neighborhood bar vibes, with lots of local memorabilia on the walls and several TVs with sports on. We may have to go back and try the fried chicken - tables all around us were ordering big baskets of fried chicken and all the sides.

TomKen's has classic sports bar vibes. They were busy when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. It took a little while to get my order in. But the people were nice and there was a Brewers game on TV and I didn't mind hanging out for awhile. I got the famous friendly chicken dinner. This was a 4-piece half chicken dinner with coleslaw, fries and Italian bread. It was a lot of food especially for the price. The chicken was juicy and the batter was nicely salty. The fries were the crinkle variety--nothing special on their own but a nice potato-ey complement to the chicken. The cole slaw was solid--a little sweet and not too mayonnaise heavy. One should not eat fried chicken every day of course, but I would definitely come back for a treat.

I stopped in and placed a to go order of their six piece legs and thighs with breaded corn for the side. When I saw breaded corn was an option, the first thing my mind went to was breaded corn nuggets. Never once did I think "hey, maybe they mean literal pieces of corn on the cob that are breaded." Boy, that surprised me. The breading kind of fell off the corn as you started eating it, so it was mostly just corn on the cob that was a little mushy compared to corn that isn't fried. I wouldn't get this again. I feel like I got a good amount of chicken based on the price. There were three legs and three thighs in the container and they weren't necessarily small pieces. Unfortunately, neither the breading or the chicken itself were seasoned, so each piece was just plain chicken in plain breading. Not bad, but also something I wouldn't get again.

There's no excuse for this just laziness. If you don't think you're competent enough as a manager to have mobile orders come in throughout a day TURN THE MOBILE ORDERS OFF AS SOON AS YOU OPEN. This brand new incarnation still has some kinks to work out but I got here even before their official grand opening. They've been so busy (good location) they can't get set up for their real grand opening. When I went in they still didn't have any diet drinks and didn't seem to get the concept. When I was disappointed they didn't have Coke Zero they offered regular Coke, then each and every high sugar drink they do have as if that might change my mind. Then they admitted, they still were waiting on their first shipments of many menu items. The chicken tenders were good, the sauce selection is good, I sure hope this new ownership is successful, they seem nice.

Came on a Monday night with a friend. Food: Really like the menu. Lots of diversity to choose from, and the prices are reasonable. We started with a couple of specialty cocktails. I had the Sazerac, and my friend had the OG Old Fashioned. Both were well made, and there was plenty of alcohol in each. For an appetizer, we got the Frogs on the Mound, which, as you can imagine, is 1/2 lb of frog legs on haystack onion rings. I haven't had frog legs in a while, and I thought these were very good. The breading was light, well seasoned, and not overcooked. The haystack onion rings were just okay. They could have been hotter and maybe seasoned (or just salted) a bit more. For our entrees, I got the Blackened Catfish, and he got the Grouper Tacos. Both of these meals were also very good. The blackened fish was the best part of my meal. It was excellently seasoned, cooked to the right temperature, and moist and flaky. Delicious! The collard greens were good, but would have been better with just a bit more pork. More pork is always better. The rice and beans were good too, but the temperature was less than hot. My friend enjoyed his Grouper Tacos, and the bite he shared with me was very good, except for the green peppers. I much prefer orange or yellow peppers, but I realize that's a personal taste issue. The tacos tasted fresh, the fish was tender, and the portions were good. Service: The place was about a quarter full. Even though we weren't in a hurry, the service got off to a bit of a slow start. After getting waters and menus, it took a while for our server to get back to us. I started to worry that this might be an issue for the rest of the evening, so I made a point of getting their attention. After that, things went smoothly. After ordering appetizers and entrees, the food came out in a timely fashion. All the staff we interacted with were helpful and friendly. Thanks, Sarah 1 and Sarah 2 :) Atmosphere: Besides the separate bar area, the dining room is a big open space with lots of four-top tables spread around. Around the walls there are posters, art pieces, and plenty of Mardi Gras beads. I wasn't sure at the time, but there was something a bit cramped about the interior. After looking at the pictures, I think it might have to do with the low, tiled ceiling. (I think this is the first time I have ever mentioned something about a tiled ceiling.) On this night, it was quiet and easy to have a comfortable conversation. Glad that we finally stopped in for a meal. With the exception of the initial service delay and some small issues with a couple of food items, it was a very good meal. Would definitely want to stop back again to try other parts of the menu.
