Came here for a quick breakfast. Food was as great as always. I am most impressed by how high of a bar they set themselves for all these years. I first came here 6 years ago and this place has never let me down. Not once. Thank you as always for being the greatest. Service was fast. You do have to bus yourself, but it's not a big deal. The ambiance is good, but I wouldn't say that's the most inspiring aspect of this restaurant. But it's beginning to feel like a neighborhood gem that you shouldn't ever skip! Strong recommend.
Located towards the end of The Ave with plenty of street parking. Once you enter, you are greeted and asked to order prior to being seated. The decor is very chic with cafeteria style seating and trinkets all throughout the restaurant. We ordered The Fast Break and The Spanish Fly. Both were similarly structured with their own style for each Sammie. The biscuit had a nice texture, the eggs were cooked well, and the savory brought everything together.
I've lost count on how many times I've gone here. The place is usually lively on the weekends since there's also a farmers market hosted on the street. It's self serve and seats are somewhat limited when it's busy, but I usually don't have to wait long. We ordered: The Fast Break - Even through my countless visits I stay loyal to my one and only, The Fast Break. Their sweet and tangy tomato jam is my absolute favorite. I'll never get tired of it. The Spanish Fly - My friends usually order this for a fresh and savory breakfast. My second favorite next to the Fast Break.
We stopped into Morsel for brunch one Sunday afternoon with a craving for biscuits. The staff was nice, it felt like a neat little breakfast diner, and the service was fast. The biscuits themselves were good! A little crisper than I prefer, but it was a good biscuit. The gravy wasn't my cup of tea. Having grown up in the south, I'm used to a very specific flavor profile for sausage gravy, and it just didn't hit the mark for me. It wasn't bad by any means, probably just some addition of extra spice like extra sage or maybe rosemary that just didn't sit exactly well with my taste buds. My wife's BEC was great! They have some sweeter options I'd love to try next time I go as well!
This business needs your support. The kind (and very cute) owner let me know that they need more business this summer. I've been coming here for a long time, and not often enough lately. Today I ordered a dirty chai and a biscuit and gravies with half mushroom and half pork sausage. Please rush over here and bring all your friends. The music is good, the booths are comfortable. And on a Sunday there's tons of parking if you need to drive or light rail is super close. Delicious food!!!
Came here from a recommendation that these were one of the best biscuits In Seattle. I got the Spanish fly and it was delicious. Super savory. The egg was runny, and everything was well balanced. Personal preference, I think the biscuit was a bit hard and dry for my taste. Overall solid spot for a quick bite though. Food: 7.3/10 Service: 10/10 Ambience: 8/10
A solid breakfast spot that specializes in biscuits and breakfast sandwiches, and it definitely delivered. We ordered the Fast Break sandwich on both a cheddar chive biscuit and a buttermilk biscuit. The sandwiches were stacked and flavorful, and the biscuits were the star--flaky, buttery, and perfectly balanced. Not dry, not soggy--just right.
I visited Morsel for a weekday lunch and it wasn't too crowded at all. A couple of things to start: this is a counter service establishment - order at the front, pick up in front of the kitchen area, bus the tables, etc. Items that include biscuits have a surcharge for higher tier biscuits. E.g. ordering a $14.75 sandwich with a Biscuit Special will be 75 cents more. Pricing seems quite steep, but tax is already included. With that being said, pricing still seems to be quite high for the size of the biscuit sandwiches. The Spanish Fly w/ Biscuit Special ($15.50) - The biscuit special, pickled onion cheddar, is quite good. It's very buttery, moist, and fluffy on the interior, albeit not particularly layered or flaky, but with no hint of dryness. The exterior is nice as well, being toasted until a crunchy crust develops. There's plenty of cheddar baked inside, although I'm not sure the pickled onion comes out all that much over everything in the sandwich. For the fillings, they first start with melted manchego on the bottom that's extremely bubbly and is toasted to the point of almost becoming a cheese crisp on the edges, while the interior still remains stretchy. On top of that lies a piece of prosciutto. I was expecting the typical cold cured piece of thinly sliced meat, but they actually fry the prosciutto, which transforms it into something similar to bacon in both cured saltiness and crisp. On top of that is an over easy egg, the yolk already punctured before service, spilling all over the side to be used a dip for the sandwich. A bit of arugula, spicy and bitter, lie on top, followed by a smear of pepper aioli. The aioli is very sweet pepper forward in flavor with no heat. After assembly, I believe the entire sandwich is then toasted as a whole so that's it's served entirely warm. (4/5) Overall I found the biscuit sandwich to be good, but a bit on the smaller side for the price. I'd love to go back to try some of the biscuits by themselves rather than a sandwich. Firstly to judge the actual biscuit quality by itself, but also because I'm not sure it's worth the additional $11 to upgrade the biscuit to a sandwich. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms
This place gets really busy on the weekends so keep that in mind in terms of wait times. It's especially busy during the u district farmers markets. I got the fast break and did not like the cheddar and chive biscuit that I got. The biscuit was very dense and hard, but also dry. The tomato jam was not to my pallet so it just may be a personal preferences thing, but it was really sweet and I did not think everything went well together with the bacon egg and cheese and then the biscuit together. Felt a bit disjointed as a result and I think there's better breakfast sandwiches to be had elsewhere.
When there's no signage or branding except for a free standing chalk board, you just know things will be either very good or very bad...so happy to say VERY GOOD. Though the decor is kinda awful-trying way too hard to be artsy but fails. But don't let the phones glued to the wall distract you from the delicious lattes and that glorious assortment of biscuits!
The garlic cheddar biscuit buns were absolutely phenomenal and elevated the entire sandwich. Reminds me of the Dutch Crunch bread from Ike's love and sandwiches. Extremely BUTTERY and textured with crunchy outside and moist inside with each bite. The fillings inside were simple but fresh and the buns made the experience. Tastes way better than it looks. Picture doesn't do it justice. Small little restaurant with sufficient tables and a small menu. They are a bit short staffed so you will need to bus your own table. Also offer self served water and condiments. Their signature chili sauce condiments were amazing.
I've been wanting to try morsel for months now and I finally rode my bike there and had a delightful experience. The biscuit was on point! Flaky in the way that makes you pause and appreciate layers. It was warm, lightly golden, and the chives went together well with the bacon and egg. And then there's the tomato jam!!! I love me some tomato jam so this is why I opted for the "Fast Break" sammie. It's just sweet enough to lift the biscuit, tangy enough to keep things interesting. I wanted a pile of that tomato jam on my plate honestly. Like my other reviews I dig my sauces!!!! I'll be back. It was very filling and I didn't even need to eat for the rest of the day! The workers were kind and upbeat and very welcoming once you walked in the door. Interesting decor inside too! Good vibes!
Very cozy easy to miss spot just a hop from U-Washington campus. A bit expensive but Biscuits are amazing. The sandwiches are even better. So many flavors combining together and they work great
Wow. Fresh off the plane, my wife and kid came here for a late brunch and we were really impressed! The biscuits have a solid crunch to them on the edges but the rest of the biscuit was soft. We both got the Spanish Fly and it was phenomenal. Would recommend eating with utensils as it could be a bit messy but that's okay! Also got a regular biscuit with apple butter and that alone could have been a meal. We're planning to come back before our trip concludes. Def recommend. read more
Was visiting from Van and initially made a reso for Portage but ended up stopping here instead unexpectedly. The food was WOW. 10/10. Scones were incredible. I am still thinking of them months later and wish I got some plain ones (non sandwich ones) for the road trip home. Prices I found were very affordable. The only reason I am giving a 4 star review is because of the music. The restaurant is giving you old school diner vibes but the music was bad. Like to the point where my friend and I considered packing up the food to eat elsewhere. It was like 11am and the entire time they played rave/techno music. I felt like it was 3am and I'm at the club. The music was VERY distracting. I can still hear that beat in my head haha. I posted a pic of the scones on my IG story and my parents want me to take them there in the new year...I will be ordering pick up in fear that they complain about the music - it was not the vibe and not something 60/70 year olds would be in to (I know it's the university district but i would not feel comfortable taking them there with the blasting trance music). read more

Decent breakfast sandwich but the coffee could be better. I liked that the sandwich was made in a biscuit!! That was super yummy - I got the recommendation from the girl who helped me. The sandwich was pretty large and good flavor, however my vanilla latte was a little bland. The inside of the restaurant had a ton of seating but no one was there, it's only counter-service so seems like mostly to-go orders. read more

I didn't expect it, but I LOVED this place. I ordered the Fast Break and my sister had the Spanish Fly. The Fast Break was a biscuit, scrambled egg, bacon, cheddar cheese, and tomato jam. I was iffy about the tomato jam at first because I'm super picky about my tomatoes, but it was absolutely delicious. The Spanish Fly was a biscuit, prosciutto, manchego cheese, arugula, pepper aioli, and a fried egg. My only complaint would be the lack of seating in the restaurant. The decorations around the restaurant are interesting to look at, but I just wish there was more space to sit and move around. read more

This spot has been on my radar for a while as someplace I'd like to try next time I'm in the area. Parking is limited and I had to do a few laps around the block before I found a 1 hour limit back in diagonal parking stall that opened up nearby. I was almost at a point where I was going to give up due to no parking. Once inside the restaurant you given a menu are asked to seat yourself. There are several metal booths and small chairs and it was pretty busy mid day on aThursday. I felt lucky to get a spot. The menu is very limited - about three different $15+ sandwiches to pick from and also biscuits that come plain with accompaniments that you can order with them (butters, jams, etc) which start at $2 EACH. The biscuits do not even come with complimentary plain butter. There is also no table service here. You order at the counter. Go get your own food and drink when your number is called and buss your own table. They also ask for a seemingly mandatory tip. Don't get me wrong, I almost always tip, but the mandatory tip screen for a self serve eatery had always rubbed me the wrong way. My guest and I shared one breakfast sandwich and one plain biscuit with raspberry jam. The breakfast sandwich was assembled with precooked ingredients taken out of big plastic tubs and then just run quickly thru their "oven" for a heat up. I guess I was expecting more from a breakfast sandwich of this price. It tasted fine but felt it should have been 7.99-9.99 and that's being generous. The plain buttermilk biscuit with small side of jam (quite tart and seedy) ran about $7. Biscuits (classic buttermilk & cheddar/chive) were a bit crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Quite tasty. The cold brew I ordered was smooth and a nice pick me up (cream, sugar, straw, lid, stir stick, etc also self serve). Overall, parking and "service" a little rough. Prices way over the top for what is being offered. Taste average/slightly above average, but nothing special. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

Morsel is a great place to grab a quick breakfast in UDistrict! Although in a small and unassuming shop, this place packs in the flavor. They have incredible breakfast sandwiches and a delicious assortment of biscuits to choose from. My go-to is the Fast Break on a buttermilk or cheddar chive biscuit. I will say, try to get there earlier on the weekends - they tend to run out of the good stuff fast! Definitely give them a try next time you swing by to cheer on our Huskies! read more

Went here with my roomie for the first time, and it was a pleasant surprise! I had the The Spanish Fly with cheddar chive biscuits as the base. I found that the pepper aioli nicely complimented the savory taste of the prosciutto. The sunny side egg was a bit messy though (runny yolk everywhere)! Would recommend choosing a different egg style. Also, the maple butter isn't overly sweet but very aromatic and flavorful--A great spread for the buttermilk biscuits! Don't mistake the size of the biscuits either, they're incredibly filling! When I went at around 1 PM, the venue wasn't super crowded. My order was ready within minutes! Really nice and cozy space with natural lighting, featuring great artwork by my classmate Rachel as well! :) read more
Bar none, one of the best biscuit breakfasts I have ever had in my entire life! I had the spanish fly (with prosciutto, arugula, Gruyere and a spicy aoili) on their biscuit of the day (jalapeno cheddar), and it was absolutely fantastic!! The egg was runny (as requested), the biscuit was the perfect blend of crispy yet soft, and the sandwich overall was just a whole lot of yum. Coming here made me wish they had places like this in my hometown, so Morsel.....if you're looking to expand you already have 1 huge fan in Phoenix ;) A+++++. Definitely come check it out! read more

Within this plain, ordinary-seeming establishment resides the best biscuit sandwich I've ever had. The Spanish fly sandwich, with it's wonderful assortment of high quality ingredients has left an indelible culinary memory that can never be erased. I still remember the sensation in my mouth after that initial bite and how content I felt after I finished. The cheddar chive biscuit was warm and flaky, like the best biscuits, but despite its hefty size, it was still moist and had a softer texture than expected, making each bite just as tender/flavorful as the last. An absolute must-visit in Seattle and one of the highlights of our trip. read more

Come earlier! But I'd you see a line, don't be scared away, they only do take outs right now and the lines move pretty fast. The 2 favorite are fast break and the Spanish fly. I love both and they give you options of chive cheddar or butter milk biscuits. It's really filling and worth it for the price. read more
Though I loved Morsel the first time I visited, I'm afraid that I won't be returning until crowd control issues are addressed. This past weekend, my partner came to visit me in Seattle. His one request was going back to Morsel to get the biscuits and gravy that he gotten during his last visit. When we arrived at about 9:30AM on Sunday, we were surprised to see a long line that stretched outside, but figured it would move pretty quickly given that Morsel is a fast-casual restaurant. We were wrong. Despite the fact that the line was only ~15 people, it took us 40 minutes to order. This included about 25 minutes of waiting outside in the cold. When we finally reached the counter, we realized that the line was so delayed because the staff were halting orders until additional seating opened up. While I understand the value in doing this, it was not done effectively. There were multiple customers who overstayed at their tables after already consuming their meals. While we waited in the cold for 25 minutes, a customer sat inside working at a laptop, and another sat inside reading a book. Though we arrived at 9:30, we were not able to order until 10:10. Due to another engagement at 10:30, we ended up having to order our biscuits to-go and my partner was unable to have the biscuits and gravy that he had been craving. Disappointing. read more

I consider myself l more or less a biscuit connoisseur and this is by far the best boscuit I've had in Seattle! I wasn't very hungry so only got the biscuit with honey butter on the side but cannot wait to go back and try their breakfast sandwich or biscuits and gravy! Great casual spot to go for a quick bite on the weekend! read more

Morsel is cute and homey, a nice ambiance that resembles a hipster coffee place. With the space constraint, it may be a grab for seats during busy periods of brunch. What a toasty and flaky biscuit though! I absolutely adored my sandwich. The egg, bacon, arugula, and white sauce blended together fantastically. Seattle is known for its biscuits, and this place definitely helps uphold this reputation. I didn't get a drink and was almost going to include gravy, but didn't because the extra cost was unecessarily high. read more
Morsel has the best tasting biscuit breakfast sandwiches I've had in Seattle. Usually I get "The Fast Break" or "The Spanish Fly". While the biscuits aren't the greatest biscuits (they're not super fluffy), the overall sandwiches are very tasty when combined with the other ingredients. Food: - 5/5 "The Fast Break" $7.75: bacon, scrambled egg, cheddar & toasted tomato jam. My current favorite - 5/5 "The Spanish Fly" $8.75: "proscuitto, fried egg, manchego cheese, arugula with mama lik's pepper aioli" - 4/5 $6.25 custom sandwich (you can choose your own ingredients): buttermilk biscuit, eggs, tomato sauce, and cucumber - 3/5 Latte with Vanilla syrup: $5.50: average tasting but the latte art was a nice touch Interior: - It gets very crowded during peak hours but the lines and tables clear very quickly so I haven't really had to wait more than 5-10 minutes. THE best meal I ate in Seattle. Came here for lunch. It's beyond cramped and looks like a dump, but the biscuits.... The man at the counter was super cool and very welcoming, in the Seattle grunge type of way. Asked him for a recommendation - Biscuits and Gravy. I had mine with half mushroom gravy and half sausage gravy, a fried egg, avocado, and a small hot mocha. Broke the bank at $12.50. The gravy tasted the same (perfect) either way, with the only notable difference being the meat or meat-like chunks. Egg fried perfectly, avocado fresh. The biscuits are what all biscuits should be. Crispy on the outsides - so crispy they don't get soggy from the gravy - and buttery/pillowy/flaky inside. I came here at noon on a weekday and parked across the street at the jack in the box. Street parking looked next to nil. It doesn't matter. I'd walk 5 miles for that meal. read more

found this cute hole in the wall a walk down the ave and the food did not disappoint! it's an order and pick up only so no seating for sit down dining. they also sell a variety of coffees/teas! we got the spanish fly with the cheddar chive biscuit and the fast break with the butter biscuit and gravy. both were very filling. the spanish fly was great- the cheddar chive biscuit is amazing I would give this biscuit a 8.5/10 the fast break was a pretty standard breakfast sandwich, the gravy was good but a bit too salty. fast break gets a 7.5/10 drink wise: iced mocha - 5/10 iced vanilla latte - 7/10 but the real reason why this place does not get a full 5 stars is because of the questionable service. the guy taking our order was borderline rude and very passive when taking our orders. other than that, overall a good experience. read more

One liner - Left me thinking, "I want some more still". Date visited - 10/27/19 Mood going in... Reminiscent - I haven't been to the university district of Seattle in 3 years. Reasons to go... 1. The spanish fly; the arugula and proscuitto combo is just perfect. Sharp taste from the arugula and fatty deliciousness from the pork make for the ultimate contrast. 2. Floral essence complimentary water 3. The best brunch around University of Washington Reasons not to go... 1. You don't like biscuits? But who doesn't like a perfectly fluffy biscuit??????? From the moment you walk inside, you can already smell all of the fresh biscuits being made. It's a small spot with limited seating but thankfully the food is so good that people devour it instantly, or maybe it's just me and my GF haha! We ended up sharing the Spanish Fly (prosciutto, fried egg, & cheese over arugula) on a Cheddar and Chive biscuit, the biscuits with sausage gravy, and the cheese biscuits with tomato jam. OMG these were all delicious, but the CHEESE BISCUITS AND SPANISH FLY ARE A MUST! The cheese biscuits basically tasted like a pizza in biscuit form and the Spanish Fly is just a well-balanced meal with a bit of spice from the arugula and aioli. I was originally going to give this place a 4/5 because of their coffee but changed it to a 5/5 because the food is where it's at! The latte artwork was cute and it was frothy, but it lacked flavor. However, we loved the biscuits so much that we came back the next morning for more. They were nice and soft on the inside while the outside had just the right amount of crunch to add texture. When you take a bite, all of the flavors are perfectly in sync and combine to give you the best breakfast experience. Overall, I'd highly recommend this place for only the food! read more
This is truly a place that always hits home for a reasonable price. We got 2 of the cheddar chive biscuit fast break, sub bacon for cucumber and arugula, 1 with goat cheese and 1 with cheddar cheese - for all those veggie lovers out t! This is our first time in Seattle and brother in law introduced us to this! The place was very crowded but service was efficient so it wasnt that long of a wait for me. It was a sunday at around 10am so I was expecting it to be a long line Anyway. The cashier was friendly so kudos on good customer service! the actual review on the FOOD: It was amazing! If you're not a biscuit fan this is definitely a game changer! Biscuit itself was not dry at all, it was very flavorful and the have a variety of sweet and savory biscuits and sandwiches. The teas were alright as well. we got the first two sammies on the menu: the fast break and spanish fly! Then we got a regular buttermilk biscuit with chocolate hazelnut butter (tasted like melted ferrero! omg that was such a treat!!) Jazz music, warm heated environment, and biscuit scraps to nibble on while you're standing in line...Morsel has got such a beautiful thing going on! I was urged to get brekkie at Morsel after my yoga class. As a tourist from CA, we don't have places that I know of that do biscuit meals...except for Biscuit & Blues in San Francisco. Morsel is way more laid back and filled with delicious fresh biscuits. I got The Goat on their seasonal jalapeno cheddar biscuit. Perfect with just the right amount of spicy kick! The Goat was one of the only veggie options, and although I loved the goat, I felt that the cucumber wasn't the proper pairing with the savory marinara-esque jam and goat. Maybe something else like eggplant or a bed of arugula might have tasted better. However, the sizing of the biscuit meal was just the right amount. I also ordered a small chai with soy milk, and the barista made it perfectly! It was hot enough that I could walk out in the SEA rain and have myself a jolly good time. The service was fantastic--all the guys that work behind the counter are friendly and give off such great vibes. I'd totally hang out in their small shop because the music and environment sounds, smells, and feels good. It's not super fancy, and you might not get a seat, but if you have 15 minutes to wait in line, I highly advise going! read more
Cozy spot to come and start off the weekend!! The cucumber infused water was very refreshing and the hot beverages were "okay"--wished the hot chocolate had a bit more "chocolate" but super aesthetically pleasing leaf designs make it an instagramable post. Now, the cheddar chive is ALWAYS the right call! I really enjoyed my Fast Break biscuit--good flavors all around--bonus for having all a variety of hot sauces cause I love to spice up my meals! BF had the Spanish Fly, he really enjoyed the buttermilk biscuit and taste of the prosciutto but the manchego cheese was "ehh". I like that you can walk off the meal with a good stroll down the Farmers Market right in front! Overall, 8/10. Really good spot but not wow'ed. read more
Perfectly buttery and moist biscuits! And I thought that was impossible! This place is on the smaller end- we were lucky to catch them after their lunch rush but I imagine this place gets pretty packed. I got the cheesy biscuit with an egg. I loved everything about it. I was skeptical of the tomato jam but I was wrong. It tasted somewhat like spaghetti sauce but much lighter and slightly sweet. Just perfect! Being a biscuits and gravy addict, I will no-doubt be back to try that dish. And probably get a sandwich read more
The food here is just amazing. Definitely the best biscuits in the city and honestly the best I've ever had period. They make their own jams and they are so good. Also very affordable. The line is usually long but it moves very quick. If I lived North I would probably be here multiple times a week. read more
I'm not the one to order biscuits but after eating at Morsel, I'm a huge fan!! Whenever I eat biscuits, they are usually dry and starchy-tasting. The biscuits at Morsel are anything but! The restaurant is a literal "hole-in-the-wall" type of place with very, very limited seating. The counter to order is practically right when you walk in so the line that goes out the door makes sense. Even though the line may look daunting, it moves pretty quickly. I've been into this fried egg craze so I had to order the Spanish Fly. Prosciutto and fried egg??? Add the Mama Lil's pepper aioli and wow....you have heaven folks! When we came, it was around noon so they ran out of the specialty biscuits so we had to settle for the standard buttermilk. I really wanted to try the cheddar chive but that will have to wait for next time! The biscuits are to die for. It's warm, fluffy on the inside, had a nice crunch on the outside and was super flavorful! I wish they had a spot like this down in LA. If you're in Seattle, you gotta come to Morsel! This place is phenomenal. We waited in the cold for about 20 minutes but it was all worth it. The menu is simple. They've got biscuits, biscuit sandwiches, coffees, and teas. The place itself is quite small. Theres about 5 or 6 tables total. The workers were all really friendly. And the barista was chatty and relatable. He recommended some great coffee spots in the Bay Area as well as some good sightseeing places in Seattle. Now, onto the biscuits. The biscuits were so buttery, moist, and savory. I really enjoyed the cheddar and chives biscuit. My boyfriend appreciated the good ol' buttermilk biscuit. The top has a unique rough texture. The inside was fluffy and flaky. It crumbled as I ate it, but thats a good sign of a good biscuit! I had the Spanish Fly and goodness. It was life changing. I don't think I'll ever look at biscuit sandwiches the same. The fried egg was perfectly cooked. The bacon was cooked to a crisp. The arugula and manchego cheese created a beautiful blend of flavors. The drinks were just ok. My matcha latte had no latte art and it was too sweet for my taste. My boyfriend had the hazelnut latte and he said it was good. Bus your dishes at the back of the restaurant. Whew. This is a really solid biscuit sandwich place!! Their breakfast sandwich was pretty good--my only issue is the biscuit was a tiny bit dry. This gem had been hiding under my nose, almost literally- it's so close to where I live! They aren't open for sit down, so we took our orders to go and the food was amazing! We ordered the Spanish Fly and the Goat and both were amazing, and surprisingly filling. I'll definitely be back! read more

My only complaints about this place are the short hours and full tables-- which are really good things! I've never ordered individual biscuits, but I'm sure they're all delicious served with sides or plain. I typically order the Spanish Fly or Fast Break biscuit sandwiches with the normal buttermilk biscuit, both super great options. The sandwiches are served fresh and hot. The service is really fast, and the employees are friendly and personable. If you're looking for a good breakfast or brunch that'll leave you feeling full, Morsel is a great U-District staple. They also have great coffee and hot chocolate, along with a mini fridge with cold drinks. read more
