First time here trying Morrow's and it was def a popular pick. The food was very good of course and flavorful. I ordered the seafood platter, which came with shrimp, catfish, and oysters; but I substituted for more shrimp. Highly recommend that fish and the gumbo ramen that was sooooo BOMB and spicy, but not too spicy. They also was in happy hour so I ordered the $8 blueberry lemon drop and classic Margarita. They were very good and they put enough alcohol and not too sweet!! The service was amazing!!! They were very welcoming and had good suggestions, with good attitude! The ambiance is perfect and the music they play is BOMB I could not stop singing. Also, it was not too loud which made the ambiance perfect! It's plenty of street parking on the side of street. Sat & waited 20mins then the waitress comes out & says they're not taking anymore people & it's only 6:30 they claim a big private party coming & they won't be able to seat us. Can here on a Saturday night as a walk in. We were quoted ablut 45 mins after taking a Uber from our hotel. The lady at the front door saw that my baby was with us and was nice enough to find us a seat right away because of how hot it was outside.. HUGE SHOUTOUT to her!!!!! Food- I got the crawfish pasta with catfish on top- it was creamy, filling and delicious. I took the rest as leftovers and it was still just as delicious couple days later. I always love supporting a black owned establishment. Morrow's was recommended and we were able to snag a rsvp. The place is small so I see why RSVPs are hard to come by. The staff was sweet and I loved that we made it in time for the happy hour drink menu. We ordered the catfish and rice and beans and the pasta which they are known for. Unfortunately we were not blown away, the pasta was salty, and my catfish had an interesting after taste. But the vibes were nice and the music being played was great. When we arrived there was no table available for us, after waiting for 15 minutes by the door, they offered us to sit at the bar and gave us a free shot. Food: the food was ok. Morrows came highly recommended and had solid reviews online so it made my foodie list. For the appetizer, I started with their Crawfish Bread. To be honest, it was more of a cheesy bread. It was soft, lightly toasted, and smothered in creamy cheese sauce, but I had to hunt for the crawfish. There was little to no crawfish flavor, and it wasn't until my third slice that I finally found one small piece of crawfish tucked away. It was more disappointing as the crawfish flavor never really came through. However as a cheesy bread, it was delicious. After seeing several rave reviews about the fried chicken, I decided to go with the Fried Chicken Platter, which came with two sides, chose the rice and beans and mac and cheese. I appreciated the option to select my preferred cut since I'm a white meat girly. I was eager to try their cornbread, but unfortunately, they were out. The rice and beans were flavorful, with the rice cooked perfectly and the beans well-seasoned. I imagine their rice and beans with sausage would be a solid choice. The mac and cheese, on the other hand, was a bit of a letdown. While it was extremely creamy and cheesy, the flavor was overwhelmingly milky and lacked seasoning in the roux. The pasta was also a bit overcooked, making the texture softer than I'd prefer. Now, the star of the meal--the fried chicken. It was moist, juicy, cooked all the way through, with a perfectly crispy exterior. The portion was generous, featuring two breasts, which I felt was great value for the price. If you're planning to visit, I highly recommend booking in advance. I couldn't get a reservation for the weekend, so the weekday turned out good for me. They also offer a happy hour with select cocktails, and the interior has a modern industrial vibe with an open layout. The restroom could use some attention--it was quite dirty. The service from Gerald was excellent--he checked in to make sure everything was going well, and the food arrived promptly and at a good temperature. Unwelcoming & Poor Customer Service I had a very disappointing experience at Morrow's on St. Claude. The approach the staff took was completely unnecessary and unwelcoming. Instead of politely asking or trying to accommodate, they told me to leave simply because the table my cousins were seated at didn't have enough space for me and my sister to join. What made the situation worse is that the restaurant was not crowded at all, and the table right next to them stayed empty the entire night. There was absolutely a better way to handle the situation, especially considering my sister was already seated at the table and I was not causing any disturbance of any kind. The tone, the lack of courtesy, and the way they chose to address the issue made it clear that customer service is not a priority here. I had already tried a few great restaurants, but wow, Morrow's blew me away. From the moment we walked in, everything from the atmosphere to the service was top-tier. Let's start with the food: Gumbo Ramen: A genius fusion of Southern and Asian flavors. Rich, flavorful, and comforting in every bite. Shrimp Caesar Salad: Perfectly seasoned and grilled shrimp on a fresh bed of crisp greens simple, but done right. Ribeye with Mashed Potatoes: Cooked to perfection. Juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The mashed potatoes were buttery and smooth. Raw Oysters :Fresh, cold, and briny in the best way. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous. But as good as the food was, what truly made our night unforgettable was the service. Chef Kelly. What an incredible woman! Not only did she personally come out to check on us during the meal, making sure everything was to our liking, but she also went above and beyond after we had left. We thought we may have forgotten a bag at the restaurant, she was responsive, kind, and genuinely eager to help. Her hospitality was heartfelt and rare, it felt like we were being taken care of by family. Morrow's isn't just a restaurant ...it's an experience. Amazing food, exceptional service, and the kind of warmth that makes you feel like you're home. We made reservations on open table for 3 and when we got here they told us reservations were only for 2. The manager was very rude and condescending. Spite this i came way from Cali to try this so decided to wait the additional 45 mins at a bar down the street (recommended by the friendly security). Ambiance: 4/5 Cute restaurant, clean, good vibes, cant really hear the music upstairs. Service: 3/5 Not because of Zaria, she was attentive, knew the menu, checked in on us regularly, and thanked is for coming. Thank you. The pastas we got were just okay, cat fish was solid. The sauces lacked flavor in my wife and I's opinion, along with the Mac n cheese. My wife was super excited to try this place and it was just disappointing. She said express martini was fine nothing to write home about. This is my second time visiting New Orleans and still trying to go to Morrows. I visited on a Monday evening after 6pm. The restaurant is small so therefore it was almost at full capacity. However, we did not have to wait. We were seated as soon as my friends found a parking spot. The restaurant is in a residential neighborhood with street parking. If I'm not mistaken we were still in the happy hour range so of course we ordered some cocktails. I had a Lemon Drop Martini and a Watermelon Magarita. Yep I ordered the at the same time. We play no games with Happy Hour. Perfect liquor pour on that Martini. Appetizers ordered: Crawfish Bread, Salad and Gumbo Entrees: Catfish Platter, Fried Pork Chop Platter, Salmon I had the Fried Pork Chops. You get two very sizeable chops. Fried pretty well and seasoned nicely. My main focus was on the garlic sautéed spinach and candied yams. If I could get the right now I would. They slapped. I also had corn muffins. The food is wholesome, filling and taste like it's made with love. I ordered a Fried Chicken Platter to go because everybody around me had it. It looked and smelled so good. I wound up eating it two days later and it was still tasty. We didn't get dessert that day but we did come back on our way out of the city to order the bread pudding. Excellent. All bread pudding from different places are not equal. This one was moist but not wet. Not overly sweet and that sauce they give you really set it off. I don't think there's a table time limit (might be wrong here) so without a reservation you're just sitting and waiting for a table that fits your size to open up and with the food and drinks flowing that could take forever. This place is worth the buzz. We came on a late Sunday afternoon and it was about an hour+ wait for seating inside, but the tables outside were open. The restaurant has a modern casual feel. The whole staff was friendly and did not forget about us outside! Honestly, it took a really long time to get our food, but it was worth it. Sip on a Punch Out while you wait. Ramen Gumbo: It's the combo you didn't know you needed. Such a deep, rich seafood flavor with plenty of shrimp and everything else. The package-style ramen is surprisingly perfect with this. It's also pretty spicy. Morrow's Fried Chicken: I got dark meat only and it was excellent. Delicious, crisp crust, and juicy meat. The Red Beans and Rice were a nice accompaniment, and the Baked Macaroni was spicy and legit. Very good. Hawaiian Bread Pudding: Massive slice with moist pudding and a sprinkle of pineapple and raisins inside, all topped with fresh whipped cream and served with rum sauce. We sat at the bar and our bartender was super cool. She had been working there five years which let us know that this was a well ran establishment, and they seem to take or their employees which is so wonderful to hear! Vibe was perfect for a Sunday afternoon. Busy but music was playing and everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves! Not to mention our drinks were the perfect lemon drops. We had about three each and was feeling real good afterwards. We got a couple of items: the oysters, the crawfish fish bread and that got damn seafood gumbo ramen.
