Stay far far away. Booked them a month in advanced for a NY to NJ move. Explained that the new apartment would be a 3 story walk up with big furniture and was quoted $136/h for 3 hours work minimum and 1 hour travel time included. The company only sent 2 young guys, one of which quit half way through the job. Broke my dresser and my makeup up vanity. Ended up quoting me $1300 at the end of the day, trying to tell me they did 9 hours of work when they only did 6 and also trying to charge me for 2 hours of travel time. Then began to tell me that I had originally told them that the move was NJ to NJ, and that I was being charged more because I was from NY. After confronting the owner with the text messages with Catherine that showed proof of the address being in NY and the quote I was given, the owner began to scream and curse me out over the phone (I am a 23 year old girl). I'm not sure what term is the opposite of "white glove service," but Morrisey Moving is a contender. We bought our first home... Upon entering our apartment, one of the movers, before even introducing himself, wanted to know if he could take the window a/c units home for himself. They spilled coffee all the way down our landlord's steps and now she's asking us to pay for a $250 cleaning bill. They complained to us the entire day about having to move all the boxes and furniture (you know, they job they were hired to do). At our new home, they left garbage everywhere and our large furniture items upside down and left in shrink wrap. They damaged or destroyed so many pieces of furniture, including tearing a huge hole in our couch. They slammed down a box that was clearly marked fragile; every glass inside was carefully wrapped in foam and paper, but their extreme treatment still shattered a glass into a thousand pieces. And since they have the payment, they don't care; they refuse to answer or return our calls now. Oh, and they don't inform you until the end when they demand payment the same day that they will upcharge you if you try to use a credit card. I can't recommend other movers enough. Stay clear of Morrissey Moving unless you want the quality of service you can get from random bums on the street. read more

Moved about a week ago and needed to hire movers to help! There are a ton of moving companies out there, but what drew me to Morrisseys was the good reputation they had within Hoboken and their quoted pricing was reasonable. As other's have said, Helen is the main point of contact. She was quick to respond to emails, but I found that phone calls were more helpful in this type of transaction. Booking the movers and the bins were a breeze. And Helen was patient with me when I couldn't decide if I wanted packing services or boxes from Morrisseys, and she followed up accordingly too. We rented the bins which arrived a few days before the scheduled move - they take up a lot of room, so best to make a space for them. What's great is you don't need to toy with making the box (tape, etc) - just a quick Lysol wipe - and they are ready for packing! They also seem to feel better for fragile items, and they stack on each other without damaging the box or the contents. Super easy in elevator buildings because you just load them only a moving dolly - into the elevator - and into your living area. These bins are heavy duty and can sustain a lot of pressure and force. I'm glad to report nothing broke during the move. Now moving day, I was told we would start around 9, but the movers and truck didn't show up until about 9:45. There were 3 guys that were assigned to our move - 2 did most of the heavy lifting while one stayed at the truck mostly apart from bringing out some smaller things like couch cushions. They were so efficient at bringing the bins out and did that in about 30-45 minutes. The long part (2.5) hours was protecting and moving the furniture out, which I didn't totally understand. I know picking up and moving heavy boxes is hard work and the guys worked quickly but also allotted some resting in between. What peeved me about the moving out process was they knew we had a big PAX unit from IKEA in our bedroom, but they didn't tell us until almost the last second that they didn't want to disassemble it themselves. It would have been more efficient if they moved the bedroom stuff out first to give us room to disassemble while they were moving the living room stuff out, but almost everything was already out of the apartment at that point. Luckily my husband is a pro at IKEA so it "only" took like twenty minutes, but Phooey - it's still more time that we had to pay for. Moving-in was a bit smoother, but we made sure to tell them earlier on to bring the PAX pieces up first before the rest of the bedroom so we could put it back together while there was space (and while they could move the other items for the rest of the apt in. The 2 guys again basically brought everything out of the truck again while the 3rd stayed with the truck and he needed to move the truck every once and a while because we were blocking a driveway entrance. When it was time to bring up the last piece (mattress, in mattress bag), all three showed up, presumably because they knew it was the end (and also tip time). This is when we signed all the documents (i.e. contract / insurance / etc.) which I thought was funny we were signing to all that at the end and not the beginning... I think my husband tipped a little bit too much in all, but I'm glad we didn't have to run into the awkward situation for them coming back asking for more as other reviewers have said. All three opted for no lunch after we offered, but one asked for a coffee instead. Overall - I think they could have been a little more efficient, but I'm glad I didn't have to lift a finger while moving -- packing and unpacking was a whole different story *sadface. That being said, I think the price all-in we paid was more-or-less fair. It ended up being more than we expected, but less than some of those other quotes out there. Pros/Cons: -Offers all kinds of services including Bin Services and Packing Services -Reasonable pricing -Prompt to bin drop off; late on moving day -Didn't break anything -Truck is huge! -Could have been more efficient -Did not need to buy or stop for lunch Ultimately I would recommend Morrissey's and will likely hire them again. Protip: Get all your packing supplies (boxes, tape, foam, bubble wrap, mattress bag, etc.) before hand. The moving company charges more for it than you'll find elsewhere. read more

This company was absolutely amazing from start to finish. I was a bit panicked planning a last minute move and Helen was so nice and helpful when I initially reached out and was able to accommodate my date - she instantly reassured me. We recently moved within Hoboken and had the pleasure of having Morrissey's moving company as our movers. Prior to the move they were very responsive to all of our questions. The owner , Ralph came to the apartment to do a free estimate and was very thorough. They also delivered wardrobe boxes, bubble wrap and tape the week before our move so that we could pack. The manager Helen in the office was very responsive via email and very helpful answering all of my questions. On the day of the move the movers showed up on time they worked quickly and efficiently. All four men were very nice and extremely careful with all of our very breakable furniture. We were extremely pleased with how they handled all of our items as well as how carefully they moved around both apartment buildings as to not damage any walls or the elevators. They also completed the entire move in the estimated amount of time and their price was so much better than any of the other quotes we received from different companies. Had a seamless move this morning. I wasn't moving too much stuff but had a decent amount of larger pieces of furniture to move into storage. They showed up about 30 minutes early so I wasn't entirely ready but they helped take my TV off the wall and pack it. The entire move was done in two hours. I misunderstood the estimate and how the extra supplies get calculated in (tape and wrap) and was just slightly short on the cash. Helen let me pay what I had which was just a few dollars short. There really is no reason to use any other moving company. These guys are great! The guys showed up early, were very friendly, professional, and quick. The 3 guys were in a good mood the whole time. They moved a 2 bedroom apartment to a house a couple towns over in about 3 hours. There is nothing damaged, not even a dent in a box. The guys treated my stuff like it was their own. MMC came to move me out of an uncomfortable situation and they were, as always, the consummate professionals and made the day so much easier and safer for all. MMC followed very strict COVID protocol and wore masks the entire time. The morning of, the accommodated several last minute changes at my request and even added an extra stop to pick up furniture I bought. They worked hard to ensure there was no damage to the hardwood floors, porcelain tile, or the house In general. This is the 4th or 5th time I have used MMC and I will never use another company again. Not only were they fast, reasonably priced, and extremely careful with my home and belongings, they were soo supportive of me during a really stressful time. They did an easy move from Bayonne to Bayonne. The guys were polite and efficient. I've moved 7 times in the last decade, and they are the few hard working movers I've encountered. I subtracted one star because they have a gigantic truck and had I known I would've made sure they had space to back in the drive way. Despite the precision driving, cable lines on my neighbor's property were pulled down. The cable company eventually came to fix it, but the neighbors and landlord called me hourly to resolve it. read more
