Called to order ahead, everyone was great, wearing gloves and most importantly the burrito was amazinggggg as always Holy burrito!! Got the pleasure to completely devour their Arizona burrito (chorizo, eggs, cheese and tots all stuffed inside a glorious tortilla) with a side of tots and homemade salsa and now my Saturday morning farmers market breakfast wishes will never be the same! These burritos are MONSTERS, seriously I probably could not have finished it by myself, let alone the side of tots, lucky for me the hubs was happy to split this with me. The salsa was the real star though, perfect texture, flavor and amount of spice, gave the burrito that extra oomph that will absolutely have me back for more. And they make it fresh daily! Found this small, cute little place online. Staff was very friendly and helpful. After we ordered our food & found a table, the place got packed & was standing room only with a line out the door! I ordered the Carne Asada burrito. It was huge, packed with eggs, meat, cheese & potatoes. It was also very tasty & filling (I only ate half). Salsa was flavorful too with just the right spice! I quickly came across a post mentioning "Morning Kick's Grand Opening" in Gilbert, AZ. I am only about an hour away, so I decided to load up my camera bag and head out. We arrived just before the morning rush which gave me a minute to look at the menu and have a look around. The first thing that I noticed was how cute the interior decoration was. The Sunflower theme made Morning Kick feel like a country-side cafe. The owner really has an eye for detail. From the white and yellow chairs to the yellow fan blades, everything I saw so far was beautiful... but how is the food? Well, the signs on the wall were a good indicator that food was going to be great. As I waited my turn in line looking at the menu, I was starting to panic. I knew that I wanted a breakfast burrito, but which one? Was it going to be the Cowboy, the Country, or one of the other amazing choices? Then one word stood out I knew right away which one it would be. When I saw the words "local beef chorizo", I knew I had to order the Arizona breakfast burrito, nothing else would do. OK, so I couldn't order just a breakfast burrito. It wouldn't have been right not to order something for Mrs. Finding Food, after all, she woke up at 6:00 am, drove an hour with me to Morning Kick and did all of the awesome camera work. So we ordered breakfast totchos and black iced tea as well. You might be wondering what a totcho is, well just click one of the pictures below to get a full screen view of this amazing breakfast madness. Totchos are completely new to me, and I am sure it's a Morning Kick original. Seasoned tots, jack cheese, scrambled eggs, and bacon, all topped with fresh pico, chipotle aioli, and pickled jalapenos. This is Southwest breakfast creativity at it's best. Next, we tore into the Arizona breakfast burrito. When I took my first bite I was immediately excited by the best beef chorizo I have ever had. No kidding, the locally sourced beef chorizo at Morning Kick is beyond noteworthy. And the best part, they weren't shy with it. The center of our Arizona breakfast burrito was filled with chorizo from end to end, ensuring we got plenty in every single bite. But just as I was beginning to think the chorizo was the hero of this breakfast burrito, something amazing happened. My palate identified a second hero here. The hatch green chilies snuck up on me, but in the best possible way. Not too spicy, not too bold, but just right. The hatch green chilies perfectly complimented everything else that was going on in this breakfast burrito. A truly amazing treat. Now, I am not a coffee guy, but Morning Kick does serve locally roasted and owned drip, cold brew, or nitro cold brew coffee. So if you're a coffee person, then you have a few really great choices to go along with your breakfast. I opted for cold black tea instead, and it was a great alternative to coffee. If you're in Arizona, I highly recommend Morning Kick as your "go-to" breakfast spot. read more

We stopped in for some brunch on a Thursday while in town from SLC, UT. A family member had recommended it to us, and I'm so glad we listened to him. Food was amazing, the joint itself was super cute & clean (even the ladies' room was decorated adorably and smelled good), and the service was beyond. Seriously! The minute we walked in we were greeted warmly by the friendly cashier. When I asked the gal behind the counter (who was the business owner) what dish she was taking pics of she told me it was the next day's special. I told her it looked super tasty & she offered to make me one free of charge. SCORE! Mind you, I would've had no problem paying. Mindy, you rock! You're the epitome of what small business owners should strive to be!! I want to ship you out to UT & have you teach them all some decorum. As for the food... A+++! My husband had the Arizona burrito and added a side of gravy (I recommend you try the gravy). It was fresh, filling, and packed full of exceptional (not skimp) chorizo. Aikido bowl had the same amounts of mouthwatering meat, non-oily sautéed spinach & fluffy scrambled eggs drizzled with green chili salsa & gooey cheese. The corn salsa was fresh & homemade, and they also offer free salsa, which I suggest trying as well. The special that I got to sample was an egg and bacon slider on (hands down) the BEST local brioche bun I've ever tasted, and topped with an outta this world chipotle sauce. I hope that becomes a menu regular for the good people of Gilbert to try on the daily! In case you can't tell, I'm a fan and I will be back. Great Family run restaurant with as enthusiastic and friendly associates. I have only eaten from their food truck but damn it's delicious! I have been going here since the beginning of their truck and the food was great back then, but honestly it's only gotten better! Their menu is limited on their truck, and I've never been to their shop, but apparently they have something called the B.E.S.T. Sandwich?! I absolutely have to try that, because they have already mastered breakfast burritos. The owners are at the truck all the time and they always have a cheerful crew. You can get a burrito or get it all in a bowl. They also have coffee and other drinks. They're a couple years old, but they have killed it in this space. Went here for their breakfast burritos and got the Arizona burrito (chorizo). Huge burrito and was very tasty. A lot of chorizo which was great compared to other places where the egg is 90% of the burrito and 10% chorizo. Loved that they had tater tots inside the burrito. Got a side of bacon too, and I can say that bacon was on point. Not scraggly thin strips, this was real bacon cooked fresh when you ordered it and has the perfect cook where it wasn't too crispy or too soft. They charge TWICE the price of Filiberto's for breakfast burritos (which makes it around $20 with a small coffee) and the only difference in the food I can see and taste is their adding large fried Tater Tots to the burrito. I didn't think that made it worth paying double. They also took about 25 minutes to serve up my carne asada breakfast burrito. I will give them a lot of credit for an impressively clean civilized bathroom, but if you're picking up food instead of staying to eat in the restaurant, I don't see any advantage to this place other than avoiding the kinds of people you would typically see at Filiberto's! read more

Firstly, I didn't discover this until a while after we got home. I had put the leftover tater tots in the fridge and everyone knows cold tater tots are bleh and when you reheat them they're soggy and just not the same. OMG I was hungry so I grabbed a cold tater tot and NEVER in my life has it actually tasted good until now!!!! Imagine a world where a cold tater tot is freaking amazing!!! I am just in awe!!! Lets backtrack now to the actual time of eating. I love pico de gallo, I am picky about it, I don't complain but I secretly judge and compare it to what I make. We've been twice, the people are nice. We've ordered online and in person. Online is surprising smooth and efficient, including an easy process for common modifications. In person ordering happens at the entrance, then you step aside and wait for food or take a seat for indoor dining. It's a simple, happy place with limited seating; maybe six indoor tables, plus outside seating but this is July in Phoenix so I didn't even give it a glance. The menu is surprisingly broad, with something for everyone. At first blush the prices seem high-ish, but considering the three burritos we received last time average 27 ounces each, the price is not so high. Yes, we actually weighed them because we were impressed by the weight of our to-go bag. The burritos are made on 14" tortillas and they do not skimp on anything that I have seen. We ordered a bowl for our son (8) and he could only manage to eat a third of it. Out of curiosity, we ordered the jalapeño gravy. The gravy was very flavorful and had a nice consistency (not too runny and not pasty). Also out of curiosity, we tried the waffles. They are made with sugar pearls baked in which makes for crunchy little sweet surprises every few bites. Nice people, quality food, quick service, smart online ordering, lot of menu options, and solid value. Bring your appetite. We will definitely be back, again. read more
