Fritto Misto, insalata cesare, canestri vodka, spaghetti frutti di mare, patate e cipolla pizza
    frances g.

The cafe/restaurant is gorgeous. The food was delicious. The chairs not so comfy on your back. It wasn't very busy on a Saturday night, probably due to it's location in the Design District. Hopefully it picks up because the food, space and service is great. What we ate: Fritto Misto - the spicy sauce that comes with it is yummy Insalata Cesare was good but a bit overdressed Canestri vodka was so yummy chef's kiss Spaghetti frutti di mare was very good Patate e cipolla pizza is one of their best pizzas but not everyone enjoyed the gorgonzola - I loved it! I would definitely return!

    More fries than steak.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Apathetic servers who don't care if you live or die. The Burata dish was more like a dish of tomatoes and a couple spoonfuls of burata cheese. For $24?! Pathetic. The steak was certainly NOT 14oz. It was more fries than steak for $55. Oh and to top it all off, while we were having dessert (before the bill was even brought to us) we were told they were closing in 5 minutes. First and last time. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

    Interior

Decent interior. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Limited selection of bakery items and drinks. They do offer a great hot breakfast selection. But no guest Wi-Fi which makes it a bit hard to work from. One other issue is there's quite a few flies despite the clean appearance. Not sure if it's caused by the nearby constructions.

Who doesn't serve tap water for free? Food is decent. Snotty is an understatement. Never going back.

To be honest, the store and decor are so much better than the original store. Maybe because there's usually more traffic in the PATH, so it takes more time for them to keep up? Anyways, the store was cozy and clean and I felt extra welcomed as soon as I stepped in. I got my usual flat white and of course it came with latte art :) They sell more beans and merchandise than the original store, so definitely check it out if you have a chance!

Checking out this location it's all vibe and super adorable inside. They even have a little back outdoor patio space for you to enjoy your drinks. The only reason that this isn't a 5 star is that their drinks are definitely on the sweet side and this is throughout their locations - think they can scale back on the sugar for sure! Opted for their new seasonal mango sticky rice matcha latte which was really good and loved the bits of sticky rice in my drink. But it was on the sweeter side of things. Would've been perfect if they scaled back on the sugar content. Overall, delicious drinks with a rotating seasonal menu. Worth checking out, especially their new space is great for enjoying your cup of caffeine.

Service was laid back and a bit slow considering what we ordered, but it wasn't busy and they had only opened moments before we got there. Needless to say, all their breads are amazing! Some coworkers recommended Ace Bakery due to its proximity to our office, so I ventured out recently to give it a try. The soup of the day didn't sound overly appealing to me that day, so I just ordered a sandwich. I was craving smoked salmon, but when I asked for it without dill, they said it's pre-made and already mixed in. Ok, pass. I chose the Italian grilled cheese instead. When I opened the sandwich, I could barely make out any cheese inside. I found the bread to be too thick for the amount of cheese and it was quite dry as a result. I also felt the type of bread was a bit too overpowering for a grilled cheese, but this is just my personal preference and I'm sure many others would disagree. It was ok, but I prefer a place that allows you to build your own sandwich. This place is better suited to people who want something quick and are not overly picky about what's in their sandwich.

For starters, the cashier/server greets you in a friendly, Italian way. Secondly, the food itself - it's amazing. I've had a few things - the omelettes, the lasagna and the Baretto panini. All of them excellent. And the service itself, also outstanding. You don't expect table service at a cafe, but Baretto has it anyway. After you've finished your meal, the waiter (who might also be the owner, I'm not sure) asks how everything was. You get the sense that it's not just for politeness, but he really wants to know. All in all, Baretto Caffe is a consistent, pleasant, delicious experience through and through.

Expectation wise? Don't expect Michelin star chefs or fancy interiors. It's a very humble setup in a non-traditional office building with staff who go the extra mile to assist customers. My pasta was made on the spot by the same person who took my order and made my espresso. He was a very honest, hard worker who served customers while making the food and drinks from scratch. I watched him meticulously cleaning all the cooking equipment, espresso machine, countertops, surfaces, and cleaning the floors after serving his customers. I was very impressed by his work ethic and dedication. I tried the penne pasta with mushroom and sausage topped with Alfredo sauce. It came with garlic bread and salad. Their number one ordered meal. So good! The penne pasta with rossa sauce (rose sauce) came with chicken and mushrooms. I prefer the Alfredo sauce as it was rich creamy and delicious. However what made my experience a good one was the hospitality and attentiveness of the staff. In today's fast food world, good service warrants a higher star rating!

Food: Outstanding pizza. We had the Calabrese and it was excellent. The crust was perfection. Service: Also outstanding. The server was pleasant, helpful, attentive. Ambiance: The design of the building, inside and out, is lovely. Modern, yet Italian music was playing over the speakers, like one would want in an Italian resto. The bad: Well, not really too bad, but to our taste, the over-all lighting was a bit much. This place would be well served with the light turned down a good 50% or more. Sexier and romantic. And candles, even the battery operated or rechargeable ones, an ambiance would be knocked out of the park. In any case: Highly recommended.!

The homemade squid ink spaghetti only faintly tasted of squid ink and didn't pair that well with the tomato sauce which overwhelmed it. The rest of the dishes were much better. I would recommend the pizza or the Vitello Saltimbocca instead. Pizza had great texture and the toppings are creative.
