My goodness, where to start! Great coffee, great treats, and amazing service! More Than Coffee is a non-for-profit owned by a man named Sam who gives job training and experience to disabled kids so that they can find employment. It's stellar story and a great service to the community! But the coffee... that is extremely good stuff! I'm a country boy from imperial, and we like it one way only: dark, rich, and full bodied. I've yet to find any other store to produce coffee with those qualities in the magnitude that they do, and I greatly appreciate this! Plus their freshness is genuine! no sooner do their beans get here from Africa are they roasted, and immediately used either for making drinks or for being sold as whole bean or grounds. all of their coffee and espresso is ground seconds before its made into your drink! The next best thing are their prices! Starbucks has crazy prices, but More Than Coffee has drinks and food that costs pocket change. Great place, great people, and as promised you get so much more than coffee! My kids love to come by for chocolate shakes (that usually include some type of treat mixed into it). My husband & step-dad love their coffee. I can't pass up the gooey butter cake, although so many baked goodies that it's hard to choose! Beyond the food is the mission. Sam (owner) uses the coffee shop to teach people that people with handicaps can - can do a job, can be useful. Sam has trained over 50 kids with disabilities and helped them find paid jobs in the general workforce. While More Than Coffee is not a not-for-profit, a more charitable organization cannot be found. Sam and the More Than Coffee regulars are constantly supporting various charities and fundraising efforts in the St Louis area including Special Olympics and PonyBird to name just a couple. I stumbled across this place one morning to avoid other chain coffee shops and have been sold since. I found a reasonable price for a very good brew. Later I learned there mission and how they also have options for fundraising that I plan to explore for my high school baseball team. More Than Coffee is a perfect name for a place that goes beyond just serving a hot cup of joe. They also help those who have a disability but are able, hard working, and eager to learn how to be apart of the work force. Fighting this stigma that those with a disabilty can't hold down a job or provide a less quality product is not an easy challenge to overcome but the owner, Sam has done just this. Bottom line is that if you are looking for a place to get your morning coffee or specialty drink, and want to know that your business is going to a place that is a good steward of your money, More Than Coffee is the spot to go. read more

This is one of my favorite places to grab a quick bite and coffee or iced tea. I've had coffee in many places and the little drive through can hold their own the coffee houses. Their coffee drinks are the best. I like them because they are not heavy handed with the flavored syrup and cream, which allows their special roasted blend of coffee come through. As the name suggests, expect more than coffee. Although you won't see many fancy frills, what you will get is tasty home made dishes, sandwiches, soups and baked goods at an inexpensive price. In addition, you'll receive caring service from the owner and staff and you'll be supporting the work they do. Amazing story, had an opportunity to meet the owner Sam and his wonderful wife and disabled volunteers who work there. I was working for a project I was doing for Washington University in St. Louis - Olin Business school and couldn't have asked for a better personal experience with the owner. Its rare to see a person so compassionate and down to earth and a true human being who's motto is 'Helping people and making a better community'. And of-course not just the coffee but the food is great too. I recommend this to everyone who wants a good coffee, a good customer experience and more so a person who treats the customer with love and respect. Kuddos to Sam and everyone behind this. I have driven by more than coffee many times thinking about the "extreme make over" story. Today I stopped in and got more than I set out to get. I met Sam, the owner and Daniel, his helper. I got to witness the hours, days, months of work Sam had poured into teaching decision making skills. Sam not only makes great coffee and food, he gives purpose to so many kids. I drove off blessed with a fantastic Daniel hospitality and service, a created Latte and an egg sandwich, great inspiration of serving a purpose and a brightened day. What a great place! Treats are a guilty pleasure, unless you get them from More Than Coffee! Not only are the treats freshly made and tasty, but you are helping deliver God's message of loving one another. Sam truly embodies what it means to live in humility and grace and service to others. You may not technically get the best frappe or latte in the world, but doesn't everything taste better when it actually supports something truly good? This company hires and trains people with disabilities, among many other services to the community. Heck, you should buy their coffee and treats for simply being bold enough to have a cross in their sign. They are also selling inexpensive frozen meals now, which if not low on calories, look yummy. I go out of my way to avoid coffee chains so I found this place on a google search. The coffee was good but the way they tried to make it special order for me was what I will go back for. You don't even need a menu they will customize it for you. What I remember (other than the 5 star gooey butter cake) is a mother with her son who had special needs standing there behind me; maybe she was dropping him off at work or maybe she was just getting coffee but I knew this place would welcome him either way. I'm not very religious but to me this place is now about more than coffee. read more

More than Coffee has a variety of coffee drinks and reasonably priced baked goods.and gooey butter cake The service is faster and so much friendlier than other coffee spots. If you re getting coffee to go, stop at More Than Coffee. Sam cares about and remembers his customers, even when gone for a few months. I have also gotten tasty homemade soup a few times. Recently. my husband bought a lunch and I was surprised at all that was included. My husband and I have been going here for over 8 years. I bring gooey butter cake to work on a regular basis and even my south St. Louis colleagues say the gooey butter cake from here is the best they've ever had! Sam provides opportunities for those with different abilities to learn skills and feel a sense of pride and accomplishment in their work. I feel good about supporting this mission while also receiving great products and service. They recently provided sack lunches for a group of 50 students who raved about the great sandwiches and cookies! read more

Not only do they have great coffee but the owner is a real awesome guy and he loves to help others. I highly recommend the Black & White mocha. It's a drive thru/ walk up and there's a few picnic tables outside so it's not really a sit down place but it really is worth it. A good chunk of their proceeds go to a different charity organization every month so it's like your good deed for the day to go there :D. I found this great little coffee shop while searching for a place on the internet to order good coffee at a reasonable price. I called them and what I received was a wonderful, helpful, friendly voice on the other end of the phone. My coffee arrived quickly and it is delicious. I will be ordering from them again and again. I appreciate what Sam is doing here and am glad that our enjoyment of his good coffee can contribute a little bit to Sam's efforts to love others as Christ loves us. read more

This is the best coffee shop in town. I got their granola bar and it was super super good, and their coffee even better. I love how they are employing those with developmental disabilities and make it such a fun job for them, they really care for their employees like they're family. More then Coffee is correct. I do not even like coffee but i had to make a stop and meet Sam. I have read about him and I love his story. I swang in today to support Sam. What a wonderful place. He is a man who cares about what he sells, cares about those who work for him, and makes sure the customer is happy too. Today was my first time visiting this lovely coffee shop. My coffee and blueberry muffin were great. Sam also gave us some homemade dog treats for our pup to try and he loved them!! I had such a nice chat with Sam at the window. My experience this morning brought a huge smile to my face. Sam and his coworkers brightened my day with their kindness. I'll be the first to admit I'm guilty of going to Starbucks with my mom for an occasional treat and I'd rather support More Than Coffee. Not only were the baked goods and coffee delicious but Sam was very kind and took the time to tell me a little more about his business and everything that they do.
