The family loves the restaurant we eat there at least three times a month. Have never had a bad salad there. The service is always busy.

Out first dinner in Anchorage! Staff was very friendly and seated us quickly even though the restaurant was pretty full. We order the Mac and Cheese pizza on regular crust and the Napoleon on a gluten free crust. It took awhile to get our food, but it was also very busy. The Mac and Cheese was delicious, although some at our table didn't care for it. I thought it had a "comfort food" texture that almost melted in your mouth. The reindeer sausage was excellent. The Napoleon was also very good, even though I do not typically like a gluten free crust. It was very tasty, but one person at the table felt that the prosciutto had too strong of a taste. I would have given five stars but the service was a little slow, the waiter did not keep up on our drink orders, and while we did waffle on an appetizer, we did ask for the cheese bread and never received it. In fairness, it wasn't on our bill either, so we probably didn't communicate it correctly. But it was hard to see other tables enjoying their appetizer and not having one for ourselves! This has got to be the dumbest restaurant I've ever gotten food from. I came here with friends who swore it was the greatest. We were told it was a 1.5-hour wait to eat in and only a 45-minute wait for to-go, so we switched our order to to-go. (Note: it was NOT a 45-minute wait! Closer to 1 hour, 1 hour 15 min, but I'm normally not one to complain about that, stuff happens). While waiting for the food, most of our party departed to the house we were going to eat at. My friends got up to get the food and I followed them to the counter. That's when Moose's Tooth staff informed us that all four of us had to present a photo ID to pick up the alcohol that my friends had ordered. I didn't bring a photo ID with me as I was neither driving nor drinking. Here's all of the reasons refusing to serve my ID-carrying friends alcohol because I was present there was exceptionally stupid: (1) I'm 16.5 weeks pregnant and not drinking alcohol right now (2) I had a picture of my photo ID on my phone, which they wouldn't accept (3) I'm clearly not less than 21 years of age (4) I could have left with the rest of the party earlier; why didn't they card when we placed the order if this was such a concern? My Anchorage friends also say they've eaten at this restaurant dozens of times and *never* been carded before, even though one of them looks like a 12-year-old. The manager insisted this is state law so I shouldn't blame Moose's Tooth (even though they apparently don't card consistently). I haven't lived in this state since 1992, but if this is the law, Moose's Tooth should be informing customers of this fact when they place the order (not after an hour of waiting). That way those of us who don't have our IDs can get scarce, since that's apparently all it takes to circumvent this dumb law. Carding a little more consistently would also help. Pizza was just OK; I'd have given the food 3/5 stars. Definitely not worth a 1-hour+ wait. read more

We ate an early dinner here on a Wednesday which was surprisingly packed but we got sat within 5 minutes. My husband and I got a medium thick crust pizza, half chicken ranch and half brew house favorite. Crust was very good but flavors for both pizza were lacking. Best pizza in Alaska, and one of the best pizza joints ever! The place was packed both times I went within the week, and parking is always packed. Best thing about this place is that you can have two different types of pizza selections on one pie and any size pie! Pizza is pricey, but it's Alaska! A small pizza (4 slices) starts around $8ish-$12ish. Out of the 16 pizza flavors I tried with my friend, I have to say that the Roasted Garlic and the Barbecue Chicken were best! The Amazing Apricot wasn't that bad, just wish they put a little more apricot sauce. The shrimp fiesta was probably the worst one I tried. I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND to order the Hungarian Soup! One of my favorite soups including homemade soups! Their wings tasted like frozen wings bought from the store; however, their sweet and spicy sauce is also one of my favorite sauces for wings! P.S. I didn't want to love Moose's Tooth. Honestly, the first time I'd eaten there and ordered a tired old pepperoni pizza (because truly, how am I going to see if the hype is warranted unless I compare their pie to what I've always had!?) I was underwhelmed. Since then, I've weathered a few more Alaskan winters, and come to discover the delicious variety that I missed out on during my first visit. I DREAM about the Amazing Apricot pizza, paired with Buffalo style breadsticks. I could eat this until I feel sick. And do, more often than I'm proud to admit. After half day tour, we were so hungry and stopped at this place. Everyone ordered pizza and I saw the salmon spread bread and felt the crave for it. It was not too bad. Always a delight to celebrate a birthday at the Moose's Tooth. Their craft beers are excellent and they keep creating new pizzas to keep it interesting. We mixed it up with a plain cheese pizza for the GKids, a small combo Thai & Roosevelt Chicken pizza for the ladies and a combo Nutcracker/Elf pizza for the guys. There are so many reasons to love Moose's Tooth; they're locally owned, unique pizzas and other menu items, great beer also brewed by them, huge selection of both beer and pizza, and I'm happy to see a local business explode into greatness. They employ tons of locals as well. I have friends that work here. They treat their employees well, and if you're lucky enough to score a job there, you'll make good $$$. Because of their great food and beer, you can ALWAYS expect to wait for a table. You can have a beer or homemade root beer/cream soda while you wait for a table. If you call in an order to go, you'll also wait 45 minutes minimum before it's ready to pick up, so plan ahead if you're hungry They are packed and busy every day, so also expect crowds, noise and hustle/bustling around you. Don't be scared off by that, though, the atmosphere is upbeat, lively and friendly. The pizza is worth the wait and crowds. With all the business, you'd think there would be a lot of small mistakes, but to my delight, I've never had my orders messed up or food not tasting delicious. They offer gluten free, wheat or regular crust pizza. They do 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas no problem, so you don't have to decide between your two favorites or two you'd like to try. Moose's tooth is he best pizza in Alaska. Possibly best pizza in America. I just can't say it because i just haven't had that much pizza to judge. They have legendary musicians play at their venue and all throughout their dining room they have posters of heir shows signed etc on the walls. It's like a museum of awesome with pizza. This is a "must go" of anchorage and possible must go for Alaska. I won't talk about the beer because thats another whole review. I'll only say it's awesome. Very good!!! read more
