Mexican Beef soup was the best part of meal. THE PIZZA SUCKS. Waste of calories if you eat it with a crappy crust that tasted store bought. The toppings were good and fresh but that crust............ Solid pub. Their meat pies were the bomb. We were craving chicken pot pies and this was the closest thing to it and they hit it out of the park. It's a bar literally underground, look for the stairwell. We loved the pies and beer was great. Tons of sports on the TVs so expect to college sports bar feel. Came here for the first time today after living in Vancouver for almost a year and was really hanging out for some good Aussie food, from the moment we walked in I was scared, it smelt of piss and was dark and dingy with tacky Australian flags hanging from the rafters. I ordered the chicken parma and my husband got the steak sandwich, let just say most of our meals were left on the plate...We will not be back and are embarrassed that this is what Canadians are lead to believe an Australian pub is truly like... well not where I am from, this would compare to a dodgy outback roadhouse that you wouldn't even stop off to for a wee because the side of the road is cleaner. And to top it off they wanted us to tip....if you want to be genuinely Aussie, don't ask for a tip...no tipping in Australia MATE!!! read more

it's more of a restaurant that serves alcohol rather than a pub, but the vibe is really great and homey. the staff is amazing - they are all (well mostly) aussie, and just so friendly... the service is great too. if you arrive in a group, they'll take everyone's names and ask if you want separate bills right off the bat, which eliminates any hassle in splitting the bill at the very end. they're all very attentive and always make sure you have something to drink - it's like being over at a friend's house who is an amazing host! the drinks are really cheap, and they have the best specials ever - $6 double long island iced teas on fridays are my favourite. the food is amazing in terms of good pub food - the chicken strips, potato skins, chicken wings, and poutine are great to share if you want to munch on something while you drink. i've seen kangaroo burger on the menu, but have yet to try it. it's kind of underground and hidden, but i guess it goes with the name "mooses down under" because it is literally under(ground). i'm not sure what the mooses part refers to though... overall, i absolutely love this place. it's very different to anything that exists in vancouver. read more

Wanted to enjoy this place but it's awful. Server was also the bartender, so drinks took (no joke) 40 minutes to arrive. Food was alright, but obvious and quite bland. They looked surprised that we showed up at all, there were about 5 people in there total the whole 3 hours we were there (thats how long it took to get us the meals and food) and the others were just drinking, not eating. The menu has some Australian favorites but it's quite predictable and nothing very exciting. No effort made to provide Australian-style drinks or dessert. read more

A bunch of us went for lunch on our lunch hour. They weren't overly busy and service started off fine... then went a bit hairy. We waited no time for our drinks but a long time for our food and had to ask where it was. When it was delivered - one plate was to have onion rings but had fries instead.... this is where they are amazing! They resolved the issue by quickly dropping onion rings and adjusting the bill to accommodate for that and the long wait.... without ASKING! AMAZING and we were so happy to feel appreciated as customers! The food was all served HOT and very yummy. We had the Veggie burger, Chicken fajita wrap, club and the beef dip. Mine was the beef dip and boy was the meat tender, easy to bit through and tasty! Definitely stop here for the warm people, great resolution to issues and cheer from the Aussies! came here for lunch before i had to fly home. it was pretty empty. got seated right away. lots of tvs all playing the olympics. great place for drinks to watch any game. full bar with lots of mix drink options. lots that ive never heard of but wanted to try. didnt though because i was cut for time. lots of kangaroo options on the menu. tried the kangaroo burger and the roo poutine. waitress said it was a bit gamey like lamb but i thought it was juicy and good. wasnt gamey to me. if im ever in the area again, id def go back. its a bit hidden though. gotta go down stairs to find. they have a food challenge id be dying to try. 1kg of parm 1kg of fries in under 45min? i think its doable. hahahaha read more

we held a goodbye coworker lunch here with 15 participants. no fuss, no mistakes, impressive!! the atmosphere was nice. i've never noticed it before, simply because you have to walk down a flight of stairs to get to the entrance of the pub. i had the shepherd's pie, and my coworker beside me had chicken strips and fries. we decided to share - both were amazing! the gravy on the shepherd's pie was rich. mouth watering. lovely. the chicken strips were tender and the honey mustard dipping sauce was so smooth. most def will come back for more! read more

A hidden gem downtown! There food is really good. I had soup of the day and a salsa burger. Very tasty Aussie fries. Quality humans ingredients. I tried my friend's chicken parmesan huge portion he really enjoyed it. My other friend had a great Reuben sandwich. All in all a very happy with the service and food. My wife and were in Vancover on vacation. We have a very simple rule when we travel. We avoid eating places we can eat at back home. That is not always an easy chore, since I have the pallet of a 12 year old. I found Moose's on Yelp and looked at the menu, it had good rating and lots of choices, so off we went. The place is a dive. I love dives, so I was happy. I ordered simple stuff. Beef and Veggies stew, "Australian" Corn dog appetizer, and chicken strips. with a local Red Truck brew. service was slow, and the food was mediocre at best. the brew was cold and very good. My wife was sick and her taste buds were off, but she felt the food was to salty. Overall we left a little disappointed. Luckily they have very fair prices. So it was not and expensive lesson read more

That's one of my favourite pubs in Vancouver, and certainly the one I've been more times. I go there regularly for the trivia nights, and It is the best trivia I've been in Vancouver, hands down. It's generally on Wednesdays, but you need a reservation. Half the place is filled with regulars, and it almost feels like a big family gathering. It's also good for watching NHL games, they have lots of TVs around the room. They also show AFL games, for the hardcore Australian experience. Their biggest selling point is that the service is great. They might have maybe the friendliest staff in Vancouver. If you go more then twice, they'll remember your name. Also, it's a place that accepts large reservations, even on weekends --- a rare thing around here. They don't have a big beer selection, but it's decent and average priced. The food, in general, is OK. The parmies are very good (and big - two people can easily share one, unless they are super hungry). The burgers are good, I usually have one if I don't want to eat too much. I'm not exactly a fan of their pizza, but it's more a matter of style than quality, I think. they also have other options, and some Australian themed dishes, including dishes with kangaroo meat. Just once I've seen somebody actually not liking the food they ordered. I hear the desserts are good. Bottom line, it's an above average pub, with amazing service. Strongly recommended, especially the trivia nights, if you're into that sort of thing. read more

This place is great! I've been there for a couple of times and always had a great experience. Both times I've been there I had a good seat in front of tv, watching soccer. Good variety in the menu. I could order appetizer, salad, meat, sandwiches, it was hard to choose just one dish. I had a salad and the Chicken Parma! Huge!!! I was full and i barely could eat everything. A favourite spot for lunch. The services is quick and friendly. The food is good and reasonably priced and they normally have a food and/or drink special for after work. My favourite items are the meat pie and the chicken parma, but all the items I have tried are good. They take down your name down and provide each person with separate bills, so it is a good place to go with a group. read more

Absolutely my favourite pub to go to downtown. Corina and all of her staff offer the best service you can get at any pub or restaurant. She makes sure to remember the names of everyone who comes in, and once you're a regular she gets your drink ready for you as soon as you walk in the door. I've never been to a place with such attentive service before. The food is pub food, but very good for pub food. Chicken strips are the best I've had in Vancouver, Chicken Parmies are excellent, and all the other food is pretty tasty. While the beer selection may lack a little, with a pitcher being around $13 (if i recall correctly) I don't mind at all. They also have Foundry cider on tap which is one of the best draught ciders around. Moose's hosts a lot of Aussie sports events amongst the North American sports events. There is always a passionate crowd and a good atmosphere during these events. The clientèle that Corina and the crew have drawn in are all a very nice crowd, and you always feel comfortable. I'd recommend this bar to anyone. Vancouver gets a bad rap as an unfriendly city, but when I have people visiting I make sure to take them here so they can see how friendly some places in Vancouver can be! read more

I come here often on Wednesdays for the trivia. The trivia is awesome. It's always packed so you need to reserve a table in advance. The food can be described as comfort food. This is my favourite pub in Vancouver. First of all ... it really is a PUB .... expect a pub atmosphere ... the place can get a little noisy when full, because, it's a Pub, and full of Aussies, lol. You will get fantastic, personal service that is attentive without being in your face. The food is authentic Aussie pub food ... as an Aussie myself, I can vouch for that! A great addition lately is the schnitzels with nationally themed toppings ... last time I had the American one that has mac and cheese on top of the schnitzel ... sounds crazy, but oh - so yummy! ... It's crazy in an Aussie way, so very, very cool! Also extra great are the proper meat pies and also the Kangaroo burgers. Speaking of food .... if you visit you must try the desserts ... house made, authentic, traditional Australian desserts of pavlova and lamingtons ... mmmm ... so good! A very good and well run bar .... everything that you need and not everything is on the menu, so don't be shy about asking I you want something you can't see written down in terms of cocktails or spirits and liquers. This is a great place to watch sports as the management is always amenable to what you want to see .... always ask! .... They also have an excellent trivia night once a week which is always a lot of fun with a mix of regulars and visitors. I totally love this place! read more

Spent a few nights at Mooses Down Under in the 12 months of living in Vancouver. Always welcomed by a smile from Corina and friendly service by all the staff making sure they made an effort to know your name and favourite drink. They hold Trivia every Wednesday and it's so much fun, the restaurant is full and lots of laughs to be had. Not a big fan of the food and drinks are not cheap but mining/geologist dive bar in the financial business. Authentic Australian for sure and staffed the never ending Ozzies working their way across Canada. Regular staff and owner Karina know everyone by first name and bring you your drink when you sit down. Hard to beat that in a big city. You are not in the mining business if you haven`t hanged at Mooses. Its also where the mining people have their wakes so lots of ghosts down under in Mooses. read more
