I had forgotten how good Moons is as we haven't been here for quite some time. I like that their food is Asian fusion and I can have Japanese/Korean etc. I had Japchaebob which is Korean Glass Noodles over rice with beef - very yummy and served hot. The husband had teriyaki beef, he had not complaints. We shared a shrimp tempura roll. The service was right on point with friendly and prompt service. The special menu had the Japchaebob and bibimbap which are both Korean dishes. The price cost of our dinner for two with appetizer was less than $40. read more

I like this restaurant a lot. From the outside it might not look like much but go inside and it's quite charming. You'll get some great traditional Japanese flavors and although Sushi is on the menu, there's not much and a ton of other stuff to try. I've been in multiple times now and will definitely be returning. Great prices too! read more

I've been coming to this area recently for work and decided to try moons kitchen since it was close by. If this is the regular portions, I will never be coming back here ever again. I open the box and was immediately shocked at how little food I received for a Bento box. The picture is the exact amount I received for my order. Mind you, I paid $15 plus tip. The sushi standard is eight pieces of sushi, I received only 4. The chicken teriyaki portion was the size of my soy sauce packet . By no means am I trying to generalize Asian cuisine, but if I wanted to get my fix of chicken teriyaki I might as well gone to panda express. The portions there are easily double. I wanted to support this locally owned business but god damn are times THAT tough right now??? This is kids portions . I did an Instagram poll asking people if this was worth the $15+ I paid and so many people were baffled at the little food I got. I'll be avoiding this place. read more

First time here after seeing this place have 4 stars here on yelp. I ordered tempura udon...it was a joke. First of all, everything was packed together in this small little bag, tempura being crushed and no tempura sauce (instead they gave me ranch??). Udon had absolutely nothing but broth and noodles. Came here about 45 minutes before they closed on a Saturday night. We were the only people in there, as the rush had just ended. We saw the "open sign" on but still were not sure if they really were open, but walked in and we were greeted and seated with such hospitality. We ordered a lot of food.. 4 different types of rolls, salad and a big bowl of soup. We also ordered some saki and a beer. For a place almost about to close, the food came out promptly and perfect. I've eaten a lot of sushi in my day, and I have to say that these rolls here were phenomenal! So delicious. Everything was absolutely wonderful. The service was friendly and the staff was engaging. They didn't pressure us to hurry up, eat and leave; in fact the owner chit chatted with us and made us feel welcome, even after the "open sign" was turned off. It may be the bizarre Korean/Chinese/Japanese hybrid. Maybe the fact that there are several other very good Asian restaurants in town. Or maybe it is the fact there are a couple of Panda Expresses to choose from (Just kidding). But in my first week of working up in Morgan City, this is one of two restaurants (Traildust being the other) that I visited twice. I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit which was takeout of Chicken Broccoli. A healthier version than normal of this old chestnut, I also ordered a pot sticker appetizer that was less successful. Too greasy. Next time, I ate in and ordered the special of the day which was a spicy chicken and vegetables entree with bak choy. It was very flavorful, full of veggies and mushrooms but the spice was just a tad on the gringo level of spiciness. Next time I will order it Asian Hot :) The rest of the menu is interesting and look forward to trying other items including branching off to the less Americanized, more Korean parts (No pumas for sure). Service was efficient although my take out order did not include fork (I got one from my hotel). 3.5 stars for now with potential for more. A staple of Morgan Hill. I LOVE THIS PLACE. This is my go to spot when taking my little sisters and friends out. The two ladies who run this place work so hard and deserve the best. I order the same thing every-time I go & it never gets messed up. It tastes delicious as always. If you're in Morgan Hill, as a visitor or a resident, I HIGHLY recommend that you come here. Nice little restaurant, friendly staff. Decent Korean food

I used to love this place so much. I realize now, that it was mostly about the experience of eating in the restaurant. It was nostalgic because my mom and I had eaten here for so many years. However, last year while I was pregnant I decided to stop in to satisfy my craving for moons. I ordered my usual #2 teriyaki chicken meal, the broccoli tempura, and the crunch roll. When I ordered the crunch roll i said "crunch shrimp roll". they brought out the wrong roll, and when i told them that's not what i ordered they ripped me to shreds. the server raised her voice at me and told me that i said shrimp roll, i told her what I said, and she insisted that the crunch roll didn't contain shrimp. lol. super uncomfortable. well i told her i wouldn't be eating that or paying for it. she was pissed. she stormed off and took it back. then brought out the correct one begrudgingly and laid it on the table aggressively. like an i was a rabid animal. i had lost my appetite dealing with her terrible energy. then she came out and clarified that i was right, and the roll did have shrimp, but I said shrimp roll, so she brought out the shrimp roll instead of crunch roll. so basically apologized backhandedly (without actually apologizing?). after that i just saw this place differently. read more

I haven't been here for a very long time and right when I walked into their door, they remembered me and acknowledged me right away. The food is still amazing than ever and the decore totally changed to a more modern and sophisticated way. LOVE THE NEW LOOK!!! We recently just moved to Morgan Hill. Went to Moon's kitchen ordered sushi rolls and Ramen noodles for our son. We were shocked that they brought the Ramen noodles that made out of Shin's cupnoodle..My son always eat that brand fast noodles at home. After living in Morgan Hill for 10 years and driving by Moon's countless times, I thought I would try it for lunch. I have my usual favorite spots but was thinking that perhaps Moon's could join the club. I love Korean and Japanese food, and the menu at Moon's seemed to fit that bill. I arrived around 12:30 PM on a Monday for lunch, the restaurant was about 30% full. I was directed to a table and sat down and then nothing happened. A larger group arrived about 5 minutes after me and took a table across the room. They immediately received menus and water. I was a bit perplexed but thought I'd give them a few more minutes. I looked at my watch and told myself that if I don't have a water and menu by 12:45 PM (15 minutes after arriving and being seated) that I was going to get up and leave, a first for me. Finally, at 12:43 PM a menu, and the server cleaned the table, finally progress! I ordered and the food was decent, not bad, not great, but average to below average for this type of establishment. The issue with the food is the portion to cost ratio, which is way out of proportion. I ordered a two item lunch combination and was still hungry when I left and I'm not a big eater or overweight at all. The cost is much higher for portion than Big Korean BBQ or other types of restaurants in Morgan Hill. Had to ask for chopsticks once, then go to the front to retrieve them as my food cooled. So based upon my experience Moon's in my opinion falls far short in both service, quality and quantity. I will not be returning, they had a chance and did not perform on all the criteria one would use to rate a restaurant. I wish them well in improving for the next first time patron. read more

I was really hungry... bf: I'm hungry let's go eat. Next thing you know when ended up in Moon's Kitchen (and all this time I've been calling it Moon's Cafe-stupid me.) We got seated right away. Establishment wasn't busy at all. We receive decent service and the place look clean-but didn't feel THAT clean-food. I ordered hot green tea this comes in a little bottle bong glass with a green tea bag. Wasn't bad green tea. Can't go wrong with that. -Rice on the Kappa Makki was HARD and OVERLY COATED with VINEGAR. -The fried Crunchy Roll sounds good and looks good-Just didn't hit the spot. Items used for this roll didn't seem very fresh when I dissected into it. The fried part itself wasn't really good either. Easier fell apart when handling with chopsticks. Please bear in mind I'm an expert w/chopsticks. Not consistent in body texture. I blame the packing of the rice. -bf orders his teriyaki chicken dinner and he didn't praise it nor did he bad mouth it. We ate and left. It wasn't all that great. Not a tasty memorable experience. For a $36 dinner between the both of us this was a disappointment. Too much vinegar and hard rice is something I would frown upon on any given day. read more

Been here a few times with good friends. Food, atmosphere, and service are excellent. We usually order the asparagus rolled in ham for an appetizer. The ingredients combine harmoniously with the creamy honey mustard sauce, and always leaves you wanting more. It teases your taste buds like nothing else! For the main course, we'll get a combination of rolls and other dishes. The caterpillar roll, which is a tasty combination of avocado and unagi. The shrimp tempura roll is delicious as well, as it combines the textures of crispy crunchy tempura with the chewy texture of sushi rice. The special we had was the prawn and chicken with broccoli. All the ingredients were very flavorful and fresh. It also came with a variation of teriyaki sauce which I found to be much more delicious than the usual teriyaki sauce. If I had to put my finger on it, I'd say it was a bit creamier. The hot and spicy bbq chicken is my favorite dish out of those we tried, since I'm a big fan of Korean style meats. It's very filling though, so it's probably best shared amongst friends. For desert, the fried banana with ice cream rounded off the meal leaving us sublimely satisfied. The banana was fried to delicate perfection, crisp on the outside, melt in your mouth inside, and when combined with the cold vanilla ice cream, you'd think it couldn't get any better, but then on top of that there's honey and cinnamon. I absolutely love this restaurant. It is actually my favorite in Morgan Hill and my family has been coming here for years. The food is always delicious and is a great price considering how many extra sides you get with your entree. I would definitely recommend the teriyaki chicken or chicken mixed vegetables! The staff is always so friendly, and the service is always pretty quick, even on busier nights. I don't know how they create this heavenly nectar but it's sweet, but not too sweet, slightly garlicky, i-am-in-heaven kind of teriyaki sauce. And the rolls.... Just talking about them makes my mouth salivate haha. Oh the delicious crunch of the tempura shrimp in crunch roll, and ever so smooth and rich avocados of caterpillar roll. The service was really very friendly, the premises clean, well lighted & comfy enough.......So, with that in mind I will try them again & hope that my 1st trip was an anomaly. But just in case you think of ordering the "Prawn/Pineapple Special" for lunch, just be advised...there are no prawns, only very small shrimp (4 of them) and an amazing 4 chunks of canned pineapple to pair with each shrimp.......combine all and serve luke warm & over greasy mushrooms &.....presto .....your lunch special :-D I'll try them again after the memory fades :-) read more

Yum!! My mom and I came here after not patronizing for about 5 years, due to location circumstances (not the food!) and since we were in the area we decided to go...we forgot what we were missing!! They remodeled/redecorated since we had been, which looked great, and we were greeted by the same lady as before (owner?) who is always very gracious and prompt. We both had the Tempura lunch which comes with a side of chicken salad, and rice. We also got some Edamame too. Everything was even more delicious than we remembered, and we will be back for sure!!
