Came here before heading to the Gilroy Premium Outlet. Wasn't sure what we wanted to eat but chose to try ramen. Supposedly this was a top choice for Ramen in Gilroy. I got to be honest, it wasn't that great! I'm not saying I'm a ramen connoisseur but I've been to many ramen places including in Japan and this one was fair at best. I ordered the shoyu ramen, added an egg for an extra charge. I didn't like that the chashu was served on the side and clearly was cold along with corn, bamboo shoots and shitake mushroom. The egg wasn't even seasoned and was just a boring soft boiled egg. Nothing screamed authentic . For the ramen- I give 3 stars (will likely not come here for ramen) The garlic edamame was fair. Nothing special. 3 stars The unagi was $4 each and ordered 2. That was pretty good. 5 stars Service- it was one waiter who doesn't fit the Japanese vibe. He liked to say "Hell yah" so if you are a local and frequent here, you know who it is. He forgot our straws for our soda til at the end and handed it later with his hand. No paper on the straws. Chose not to use it. Overall, super disappointed at this place. It's a fail on me for choosing it. Place is small - maybe about 15 seats so be wary if you decide to heed my warning . read more

There aren't many places to get Ramen in the Morgan Hill / Gilroy area but this place was a super authentic restaurant a few years ago when we used to live in Gilroy. I remember we went in once and I asked if the Chicken Teriyaki was breast meat and the waiter had a hard time understanding me because he didn't speak very good English. It must be under new management now because the place seems very "Gaijin" now. Unfortunately the Ramen broth was kind of tasteless. I even put on a bunch of the spicy powder but that didn't help much. Pretty much everything we had was "meh". The sushi was just OK. The wife ordered their matcha pudding dessert that the waiter said was home made, but she said that it was pretty bland also. We certainly wouldn't come back. read more

My husband and I came in while visiting family in the area. We were recommended this place and decided to give it a try. The wait time during dinner wasn't bad at all. I ordered the rainbow roll, which was pretty good and fresh. My husband tried the ramen but wasn't a fan. He said it was pretty bland and the noodles didn't have the best texture. Service was okay, nothing to complain about, but nothing that stood out either. Overall, it was an average experience with good sushi, but the ramen could use some improvement. read more

Food was average, but service was poor and we will never go back. We were very surprised because Japanese owned restaurants usually have great service, but not this one. My wife's dinner came out after my son and I already finished our dinners. They also had to return my son"s dinner because it was wrong. Furthermore, they did not bring out tempura sauce or lemon for the salmon until we had to flag down our server. Lastly, they did not offer to comp us for anything or seemed to care. Been here so many times. Good food, super slow service and when I asked for a lemon wedge for my water I was told they would have to charge me. When you are spending around $100 on dinner, I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for one wedge of lemon. read more

One of my favorite sushi places in gilroy! My top favorite rolls are geisha, citrus and butterfly roll! I'm a mushroom so of course had to try their mushroom which wasn't bad but don't think I'll be getting again. Also wish they let service dogs in but oh well. First time trying this place out, lowkey a bit disappointed. I ordered the teriyaki salmon and it was a bit hard and warm not the best. My husband and daughter ordered the chicken and as well almost cold looked weird, Like it wasn't fully cooked. We had a fried salmon roll and it was good 10/10. Can't rate the food because they never made it for us. We ordered take out sushi for two of us (4 rolls), they told us 45 min. We have a newborn, so my boyfriend went to pick up at that time and got sent home with the wrong order (they also never took our name). I drove back with the wrong order, got attitude instead of any sort of customer service. This was over an hour after we ordered. It was me and my boyfriend's first time here. Server was very friendly and accommodating. We spent our Valentine's Day here for lunch. Food was delicious , we ordered ramen and we will be back to try the sushi. They had special Valentine's Day desserts and they looked and tasted amazing. Sushi was tasty tho not a lot off choices but the last few times we were here (mind you, we come early to avoid the wait), it takes a longgggg time for sushi to come out. Ambiance is tight...Wish it were bigger. That is a star down since tiny places are not my thing. Borderline elbow to elbow which is not my thing. This is my first time eating at Ten Japan. I cannot believe I have not eaten here prior, after living in Gilroy for 20 years. Before I say anything, I will definitely be back. The ambience was very cozy. A nice change from the restaurants I frequent. The service was great. Our server shared the specials and made great recommendations for what I was in the mood for dinner. We decided to give this place another try since we really wanted sushi. Very disappointed that they cut the sushi roll choices in half. Some of their best rolls are gone. Also, they heavily expanded their ramen menu but the quality really dropped off. Their ramen was always good before. This thine the ramen had almost no flavor, completely bland & the ramen noodles were all stuck together & not fully cooked. There is a long wait for food. I have eaten here every Thursday for the last 10-12 years but today that has come to an end over Joes stupid seating rules. There were 2 tables open with ourselves and another party waiting to be seated. One open table was a 4 top and the other a 2 top. Joe had the waiter squeeze the party of 3 into the 2 top leaving the 4 top open. We sat there for another 20 minutes and finally asked why the table is being left open. His response was we only seat parties of 4 at that table. There was nobody on the waiting list and nobody had walked in for the last 30 minutes. The food is amazing. From ramen to sushi, you can't go wrong. Try the spicy tuna on crispy rice, my family loves it. My favorite roll is the lethal weapon, get it if you like spicy food. Service can be hit or miss. The staff are friendly, but not always attentive or accurate. It is a small restaurant, so at busy times there will be a wait. The service has gotten much faster though. Service and everything was cool, but I was served what I believe was the worst chicken teriyaki I've had in my life. This used to be my go to sushi place in Gilroy. My kids love the ramen, and the sashimi is always fresh. My boyfriend and I decided to go for a date night. The service was extremely slow, took forever to be acknowledged and seated, then order went fast, but we waited over an hour for our food. I told my boyfriend this was a one off, and we should try it again as I have always loved this restaurant. So, we went here again about a month after our last experience. We got there just after it opened. There was one couple at the bar, another couple at a table, and then a party of four at a table. We were standing there for 10 minutes while no one acknowledged us, and servers were just hanging around doing nothing behind the sushi bar, just talking to each other. Finally someone sat us, and we sat at the bar. Immediately the server got our drinks, and then took our order when he returned with the drinks. I had finished my large hot sake, and decided to see how much longer it would be as we had somewhere to be at 7, and it was now past 6 and we had been there over an hour. I asked the waiter when our order will be up, and he stated that there were still 3 orders ahead of us, and would take at least another 30-45 minutes. When I asked how that is possible as we had been waiting, and the only other people that were in here had their food already or had gotten pretty soon after we ordered. They just said oh well, no explanation nothing. I chose to pay for my sake and we left. Very disappointing as I was very hungry, and we couldn't stop to eat anywhere else as we had to make our next appointment in time. So sad to see such an amazing place go downhill. I preferred this sushi, and would even drive there for it as I don't live in Gilroy. I also didn't mind them being pricier as it was always delicious and great service. We came here for lunch on the Friday after Christmas and it wasn't busy except there was only one waiter. There were a lot of things on the menu that were not available like all combos until after New Year's day. We ordered the 49ers Roll ($15), the Red 911 Roll ($13), the Spicy Tuna Hand Roll ($6), and a Miso Ramen ($13.50). The service was pretty slow since there was one waiter. The food slowly came out to our table. The Miso Ramen's broth tasted good to me and it was good ramen to me. The 49ers Roll was different from a lot of other sushi places because of the tempura in it but was not bad. The Red 911 Roll was good and that tiny dab habenero sauce had that extra kick. The Spicy Tuna Hand Roll was good as well. Overall, Ten Japan had good food but the service was slow when I was here.
