We chose to sit at the counter, which was neat because we were able to watch some of the behind the scenes action. While my husband and I were staying in the hotel at the end of the street, we walked around to find something to eat, since we did not rent a car. Moonlite Diner was really the only thing open. It was pouring down rain, so we took reprieve in this diner--- and glad we did. From the outside, in the dark, it really doesn't look like anything special. It wasn't until we walked through the reception area and around the corner that the place opened up and looked like a 50's style diner. It was charming, clean and inviting. The menu is a little overwhelming. They seem to offer everything from burgers to meat loaf dinners--- and not to mention a large selection of milkshakes. I mean, we were in Ft. Lauderdale where a milkshake should be a given - right. Our service was very quick, efficient and the food came fairly quickly. My husband got a burger, which looked and tasted like any burger (they are always delicious) and I ordered the teriyaki chicken with rice and veggies. I ordered the sauce on the side, because sometimes the sauce is too salty and by ordering it on the side, I can add what I like without messing up my whole meal. But, there was no need, in the end, because the sauce was perfect. The chicken was very tender and the rice was cooked to perfection. It was so delicious, now that I'm back in Ohio, I wish I could go back just to have that meal again. Apparently, their mashed potatoes are a huge hit, because they ran out, leaving customers disappointed. I heard the guy behind me state that the mashed potatoes were what he went there for. So, I guess he will be returning soon to get them.. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked homemade and delicious. I ordered the beach combo which was egg whites and veggies with a side of fruit and my husband ordered the meat breakfast with bacon. Eggs, hash browns & toast. Our server was so sweet and we were seated right away. Our food came but we had no silverware and waited over 5 minutes but noone came by so my husband had to go ou to the bar to ask for silverware. Also, they brought only half my meal and forgot the fruit cup that came with it. When the fruit cup came, it was soggy old strawberries and mushy bananas. This was our first time coming here. My wife and I felt like something different so we decided let's come here for some diner food. We were both well of aware of moonlite and it's been around for many years. So we figured lets try it. So When you walk in you're immediately hit with a retro 60s vibe with checkered tile on the floors, lots of old style signs and pictures on the walls, red leather topped stools with chrome. The booths were nice looking burgundy red and off white color. The waitresses were all super friendly and attentive to our needs and getting the right meal for our 4 year old son. We got nuggets and fries for our son with a strawberry shake. I ordered the patty melt with loaded tots and a coke and my wife got a club sandwich with home fries with a coke. All I can say is we all really enjoyed the food ! The meals were all brought out quickly, they were freshly made. The portions were ample, the strawberry shake was delicious!! Sooooo came with my mother to have an evening shake. Waitress came to take our order she walked around the counter didn't wash her hands and immediately started peeling and cutting the bananas YUCK... Even my mom realized and was disgusted. But we are the type of people that don't like to return things. We received the shake it wasn't even cold didn't enjoy at all flavors was there just wasn't cold. We were in a hotel nearby and found this gem by accident. We are Baby Boomers so we love the old diner decor of the 50's and 60's and the music. I think we knew the words to every song that played. The wait staff was excellent! Always smiling. We ate here about 5 times so we got to be a regular. The food was good and we had no complaints. I love Moonlite Diners. The atmosphere is a nice traincar style with "chochkies" all over the walls that mimic a 1950's and 60's vibe. The food is pretty good and the selection is considerably expansive. I love the premium coffee creamers! I'm disappointed with the cleanliness of the floors at this location. This review is five stars for being genuine diner food! I stopped here because I had an hour to kill before catching a plane at Fort Lauderdale airport. I was searching for something in that area that wasn't a chain and while there were a ton of cool options at the farmers market, the farmers market is closed on Monday so they were all closed. The place looks cool on the outside and on the inside also. You can sit at the obligatory counter with stools or you can get one of the many booths. I got a Reuben sandwich on white bread with home fries instead of french fries. That Ruben was amazing. I also got a taste of a double chocolate milkshake because I was looking at it and they had a little leftover pour. Did I mention that Ruben was amazing? The bread was fluffy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside. Sauerkraut was tasty, just enough thousand Island dressing to be juicy but not overwhelming and the corned beef was full of flavor. This could've been a New York City diner. The hashbrowns which I asked to be burnt were fairly well done and they had good flavor, they were nice and crispy and went well with catchup and green Tabasco. It ends RIGHT THERE. Other than that, we had to order two drinks to get the 2nd entree for half price. It didn't make a difference. In fact it was a waste of 3 freaking dollars for a SYRUPY diet coke (hmm, syrup and diet definitely don't make sense to be together in the same glass) that my diabetic fiance couldn't drink! The waitress could have been nice enough to take it off the order, but no, she ignored us after that whole "Sorry, yeah, I don't know why it tastes like that.. *giggle and bambi face look* can I give you something else?" What were we going to say.. " give us water and charge us the same price as the soda"? There was nothing else diet or even Coke Zero. Come on. Moonlite is my local diner, and just perfect for me when I'm craving breakfast to cure any weekend hangovers. Food is tasty and cheap, and the breakfast potatoes always hit the spot. I've tried many different breakfast options - the french toast, skirt steak, pancakes, corned beef and all have been great. The only option I wouldn't order again would have to be the eggs benedict. Haven't ventured on to the lunch or dinner menu though, so I can only atest to breakfast. The service is always superb and the servers are quick and attentive. Parking can be a pain when they get busy - there is ample parking in Oakwood, but if you make the mistake of turning into Moonlite diner's parking lot and finding it full, it can be a challenge to get back out. read more

The service was fast and friendly. The food came out of the kitchen fast. I had the corned beef hash. It's made fresh with peppers and onions. It also has a little hash potatoes under, diced potatoes would be better. It's then topped with poached eggs. I had over easy.
