My friends and I each got a build your own bowl and the cauliflower wings. Elements of each were really great- the fried egg, pineapple. and sesame tofu. But something about all of the ingredients together did not blend well. We also could not taste any of the sauces that we ordered. The cauliflower wings were a really good flavor, and we had to go back and ask for the side of ranch. These I recommend. Things we did not like: corn, broccoli, chicken (flavor :/). Overall it looked pretty and we were excited to eat it until we started eating. Something tasted off, like it was sitting out all day- which is confusing because it takes at least 20 minutes once you order. I saw moon bowls on shark tank and decided to give it a try. This is a tiny little store front on Clark you could easily miss ( I have walked by it frequently and have never noticed it before). I placed an order on the kiosks at the restaurant. Was a little annoyed that no nutritional information or ingredient information was provided to help guide my decision of what to order. Ordered the chicken and egg bowl and paid 2 extra dollars to upgrade to a cauliflower rice. The service was ridiculously slow. After about 25 min questioned the sweet woman working there who said " yeah sorry about that we had a lot of orders come in and we recently opened but don't worry we are making your a priority". Hmmm.... And my order is the priority and still took this long ? I left annoyed but the actual food was fresh and delicious so I will definitely consider returning now to give it another try ( if I have to wait that long again they will lose me as a customer so ordering on line may be the way to go ) . Had lunch here the other day and was very underwhelmed. I ordered the DON'T CAULIFLOWER IT A COMEBACK bowl. The cauliflower is really tasty, and has a great flavor. What fell short was the rest of the bowl. Firstly, there were only about two tablespoons of rice in my bowl which I found to be a very small amount of grains. The rice was also undercooked and crunchy. The bowl also had kale that was not massaged and as a result was bland and too crunchy. Overall I probably wouldn't order from here again! read more

A friend recently turned me onto Moonbowls after recently being told by my doctor to maintain a gluten-free diet. Prior to my GF elimination, I was already watching very carefully what I eat. I look for healthy options that include good protein, low-fat, and low sugar/carb. Personally, I find very few options in Chicago though there are some. Needless to say I was very excited to learn about moonbowls. I ordered for the first time today. I decided to get a couple of bowls so I could check a couple items out from their menu. I ordered the Korean Hot Chicken with Bamboo Rice Base & Spicy Avocado Bulgogi with Citrus Kale Base. Ordering was super simple and I absolutely loved both. Overall the food is very good. Their impossible beef is very nice and in being diagnosed with an allergy to gluten recently, moonbowls is a place I feel I can safely eat it without navigating cross-contamination or thinking about all the items I could eat, but shouldn't or can't, especially when Korean staples like gochujang usually has wheat as a main ingredient. So this is a restaurant I look towards as a nice place for when I want to order out. That said, the major weirdness with this place is their caramelized onions - it smells and tastes of gasoline, or at least what I imagine gasoline would taste like. I thought it was a once-off when ordering from here the first time, but after trying it again more recently, it turns out it still has a very strong unpleasant smell and taste that gets into any of the other ingredients it contacts (fortunately they separated the ingredients out in the bowl so only nearby food was contaminated). I don't know how they are cooking it, and I've considered the possibility of COVID related sense disruption, but it's only the onions from this place that has this awful funk going on - no other onions or foods I've had made me recoil like this. I'm not letting it detract too much though because everything else is nice and it's easy enough to forgo the onions (although every single item has it, so I'll always need to ask for it to not go on the food), because this is a nice place I would like to continue patronizing. Just please figure out what's making those onions smell that way! As a side note, they don't have delivery in my area, although it's only two miles away and my understanding of ghost kitchens is that it's meant to be more third party delivery friendly - not that I like it as it's an unsustainable practice, but it did leave me wondering what how their delivery radius works. All that aside, it's a good place with good food sans onions. read more

First things first: the Rockwell location is a 'food court,' and there is no Moonbowls sign (that I could find as of 1/21). It is convenient-- lots of people coming and going picking up food from the various restaurants there, so they have names/order/restaurants on a screen and then you ask at the window when yours says ready. Moonbowls itself had great gf and meatless options-- the avocado bowl with Impossible beef was amaaaaaaazing! :) SO GOOD. The fried riced-cauliflower was okay-- chicken was dry. My partner had a chicken bowl and it was also pretty dry. I upgraded to the purple sweet potato noodles, and they were okay. More of an experience than anything, and probs wouldn't pay for that upgrade again. Overall, unique, gf, and pretty good! read more

This place is a pretty good, especially if you are looking for a healthy option. Entrees are are about $14 and the portion sizes are okay. I'd like NFL offensive lineman would be disappointed in the portion size but most people would be okay. I ordered Moonbowls through Ubereats and after tasting the bowls for the first time though i'm not 100% vegan it looked interesting to try so i had ordered the sweet kimchi chicken bowls for myself and boyfriend and a strawberry lemon basil chia pudding and the food was quite delicious and excellent portions though it is quite expensive for $13 a bowl. It would be nice to have an option to add extra rice to the bowls as i feel that its a small amount of rice but good amount of meat and vegetables. I would definitely order more for the next visit. Maybe, it would be better ordering in person as delivery and services fees are quite expensive. read more

I was looking for something healthy since I started my New Years' "resolution Diet" and I found this place. I have never hear this restaurant before but I saw it had some good reviews to decided to give it a try. I don't eat veggies which makes it very difficult when I start a diet but still decided to give it a try. I was blown away by the amount of flavor this bowl had, Like I mentioned I don't like vegetables at all but this bowl was so delicious that I ate it all. This is not a restaurant but a kitchen that you can just pick up the food or they deliver to you which I was ok with that since I was driving nearby and I actually wanna eat it at my house. I am so glad I found this place! I used to live in Korea and have really been missing the food. It's difficult to find good Korean food that is also gluten free.
