They took me in right away and they are not busy on the weekends due to neighborhood of Seventh Day Adventist resting on weekends for sabbath. The employees were very kind, gentle and helpful when it came to getting recommendations. I walked in to get my nails painted and I ended up getting a pedicure and eyebrows waxed. Just as an update over a year since this review... since I first found this place, I have been coming to Moon Nails every 3 weeks like clockwork because of the amazing work that Don does. I would've kept coming here forever if it wasn't for the fact that I started a full telework position and don't live near the area unfortunately. It was always wonderful to have Don work on my nails. He always had creative ideas to make my nails look special. If I was indecisive on what to do with my nails, he would make recommendations that I was always happy with in the end. And it wasn't just the designs, Don would always make sure that my acrylic nails were strong and of a good shape and quality. I never had a nail break when Don worked on it. It's that extra attention to detail and quality that kept me coming back because that's so hard to find in other salons. I'm still struggling to find a good nail salon near where I live now! I saw the place was under new management and the reviews about how great Don was and wanted to give them a try. I called right when they opened on a Sunday and they said they could take off my acrylics, do a dip powder mani, and a pedi at 1:30. I got there at 1:26 and everyone was busy with a client so Don told me to wait a couple of minutes. Don started on me around 1:35 and was able to take off one hand of nails, but the other hand had to soak so while they were soaking, he painted another girl's nails, which was no big deal, I didn't mind. He came and began working on me again, but then a lady walks-in and he quickly rushes me to a different table and I end up waiting 40 minutes. No explanation as to why he quickly pushed me aside to work on her given the fact that I had an appointment. So after waiting the whole time with no explanation as to why this lady was more important to work on than me, I got annoyed and just had the lady who started to work on me finish taking off my acrylics and left. It was also $10 just to take them off. Don and the lady were very nice, but it shouldn't have taken an hour and a half to just take off acrylics. GET THE GUY. I've come here twice for pedicures and each time it's great, you can't beat the price, really. For a cheap price, you can get the mint scrub, a great leg massage, WITH hot towel wrap AND massage with the HOT STONES. If you get the guy, he will massage you a little bit harder. Also love the fact that they have good quality nail polishes: essie, nichole, OPI, china glaze. It's been 2 weeks and my toe nails are still intact and my feet are still relatively smooth after doing the callus remover thing. Also, I work Aquatic Therapy every week for 4 hours so they take a lot of abuse, but they're still going good. :) I wish I lived back in socal just so i can go to Moon Nails. read more

FINALLY. I called ahead and asked if there was a wait and he told me 15 minutes. They were closing in an hour and I felt bad but I was having a stressful day! Normally I have a great experience here, but today's visit was awful. I was going to have my nails done by the lady that normally works on me, but she got called away last minute for another client so another lady jumped in to help me. First complaint, as the lady was working on my nails she coughed ALL over my feet and did not apologize. GROSS. Second complaint, she didn't care to clean up the nail polish she got on my skin. To be fair, I don't think she normally works there because I've never seen her before and like I said, I've always had a good experience here. Lastly, typically the pedicures here come with a hot stone massage. She did not use the hot stones, which is something I really look forward to. Came here on a whim while having a little bit of time to kill before my best friend's white coat ceremony at Loma Linda University's Medical School. As a treat to her we decided to get gel manicures done. We were taken VERY good care of, despite being last-minute walk ins. Both of us were treated to a hot oil & hot black rock massage which NEITHER of us have ever experienced at any other salon.. especially for the price ($28 for a french gel manicure). We were treated with utmost respect and courtesy. We were asked questions where we were from and what we were doing in the area. Very personable staff, very friendly. I have been a customer at Moon Nails for over a year now, but sadly have not written any reviews until now. I have taken advantage of almost every excellent service they offer from acrylic nails put on by Lee to pedicures done by Kathy. I have also had my eyebrows waxed by Helen. I usually go and get a pedicure at least once a month because it is so relaxing. There is no other place around that offers such a great pedicure for the price. In addition to the massaging chair that everyone else has, you get a mini leg massage with oil, hot stones and towels all included in the basic pedicure price. The staff is all very friendly and definitely deserve 5 stars for their excellent customer service. They greet me by name every time and always want to make sure I am relaxed and are a satisfied customer. The business is also always spotless and they strive to keep a clean environment, which is a definite must in the nail spa industry. The pedicure was fine, but the manicure was the second worse manicure I've gotten in all time ( the first here in Long Beach and feeling more like an assault than a spa service). It was a MESS. She tried her best to fix it after the fact with a paint brush and polish remover but even that couldn't totally fix the damage. And anyhow it didn't matter, because it started chipping off the very next day, which I'm sure wad due to this, because the polish I picked was a good brand. This was my second time here. The first time was last year (2013) and they still had old furniture. This time, they had new furniture and my visit was even more pleasant. It was overall clean and calm. I was very impressed by the service. There were two young guys and a girl. Two of them spoke fluent English and were very kind. None of them were pushy (which I really appreciate!) and they took their time to make sure the work was done well. My review is long over-due. I only come to this salon. It is close to my house, affordable and I really enjoy talking to the ladies. 2 years ago I came here rushing for my wedding and they made sure to help me with my nails, pedicure and eyebrow waxing and everyone was excited for me! It was awesome! And I still had to get married that day. Yeah, I'm the world's biggest procrastinator lol. But, the lady I think she owns the place or manages it always does my eyebrows and they always come out pristine. I'm not much of a girly-girl so I rarely get my nails done, but I do enjoy pedicures, cause who likes gross feet? And sandals are a staple shoe of mine :D Anyways, love this place, highly recommend. You get a lot of bang for the buck. I don't know too many places that include the scrub stuff and massage and callous removal in just your basic pedicure. Just got a fill here by D and he did an AMAZING job!! I got gel too. The fill was only $15 gel is $25 though. My mom got a gel manicure. She said Anna was very gentle. Not gunna lie they are slow but they did a really good job. So come if you want to be pampered and relax. I was a little sketched at first because it's tiny and no one was inside but once customers come in Anna calls another technician and they drive over. For a decent price pedicure you get a mint scrub, hot towels and hot stone mini massage on your legs. I would recommend Tony for pedicures. He takes the time and does a great job! The other girls do ok but they seem so rushed. Only down side of the pedicure chairs is they don't use the reusable plastic so I do hope they clean the bowls good. For manicures I love going to Kalina. She converses with you and remembers my daughter! There was this older lady that did my full set (not sure her name) she took almost 2 hours for a full set! Not sure if it was her first time but it came out horrible! I didn't have the time to stay and re do them so they told me to come back for a free change of color, which was nice of them. This place doesn't get so busy as other nail shops if you go early in the AM. Not sure how they are throughout the day. My grandmother, my mom, and I have been going to Don for years. My mom and I both scheduled appointments this week with Don. He called my mom on Monday and stated that he couldn't do our nails because he wasn't going to be working for a while. Well it turns out that was a lie. I called the shop today and Don answered and said that he no longer can do MY nails. When I asked why, he stated because he needs to feed his family. I asked him to elaborate because I wasn't understanding. He hung up In my face. I go to Don every 3 weeks for a polish change on my real nails. I have always paid my service and I've never/ and would never ask for anything for free. Nail technicians have the right to refuse service, but to throw my mom and grandmother in the mix because you have a personal issue with me is just poor business. I wish him the best but wish he would've handled that professionally. read more
