I really jumped back and fourth between 2 and 3 stars...but I decided it was not A-OK but I do feel like I would go back...
Here we go step by step through yesterdays less then exceptional out door dining experience...
I was dining with 2 first time diners to Moody's, at first they were both quite stoked by the out door patio as was I, I had dined here before even chose to take my parents here last time they visited (it was a much better experience that time for sure!)
first thing I notice is the ashtrays on the tables (are these for looks or are people really allowed to smoke out here? if they are that would kill this great out door space for sure!)
Next thing I notice, the prices have went up for sure! still not bad just not a great deal-like they were before, I think the base burger is now $8.50...(the pitchers are still uber-cheap)
I was not drinking but I tried a swig of my buddies pitcher of sangria, it was less then exceptional in flavor, I have had much better, it had too little fruit and was not sweet, it tasted more like cheap dry red wine then anything else... The pitcher was not over loaded with ice and there was lots of it in there for sure, my friends actually did not finish it and this pitcher was just $9.50
We each ordered a burger in our own fashion I did not want cheese what I did want was a mound of grilled onions, I asked if she could double up on the onions even if she needed to charge me double, when the burgers came I had less onions then my buddy-who did not ask for any extra and neither of us had that many to begin with (not a big deal, I didn't even mention anything but I am setting the whole scene)
The burgers were good not the best but really good for sure!
The fries are unsalted which I am surprised that I did not realize immediately, I was mentioning that the fries were not good and my friend mentioned they were sans salt, I promptly lightly salted my fries and they turned the corner from bad to being really quite good! (I ate them all and kinda wished I had more at that point)
I was just drinking water (there are many trees on the patio) when the waitress refilled my water-I noticed a black and white nasty in the cup and I asked for a fresh glass, she did not even look and said it is something from the trees , I said whatever it is can I please get another glass, she looked at me like I was nuts and grabbed it... When she finally came back with another glass of water, I immediately noticed the fresh glass had the same used lime in it, ok what is that all about, my friend and I had decided that what we saw in my water really looked like bird poop, and now I had an allegedly new glass of water magically with the same old lime, I was done drinking water even though I was quite thirsty and when we were finally ready to go; I asked her how the old lime ended up in my new water glass? She motioned that she had dumped the old water into a new glass, I gave here a disgusted look and she said in broken english no no and mentioned that she spooned out something Im guessing either the lime or the bird poop, either way how hard would it have been for her to give me a fresh glass with fresh water... The water experience downed this place from either a solid 3 or shaky 4 star to a 2 star experience, my friends were laughing as was I, I was so disgusted when I saw a squirrel on the fence next to the patio its tail below my line of sight, I thought it was a rat, I was actually surprised to see it was a squirrel, this was the state of mind the poopy water had put me in! Thumbs down on the service front, It was decidedly slow and inattentive even before the poopy water incident solidified... There were only 4 tables occupied out doors for two waitresses not busy at all!
Having said all of this I would still go back because the out door space is so awesome and so close to my home but next time i will cover my glass and drink alcohol to add some disinfectant to the glasses (or maybe bring my own glass LOL) read more
