Great place for a brunch and a show. Came here before going to Hollywood Beach. It is only a 10 min walk from the Beach. They have bottomless mimosas for $19.95 which is a good deal and the food was pretty good. You are really there for the experience of the drag show and the atmosphere. They do add an additional $10 to your bill per person as an entertainment fee that I didnt see mentioned when I made my reservation so just be forewarned about that. The show is good and don't forget cash so you can tip the queens. They will give you change before the show. I would say it is a good place to take a group for a fun and boozy brunch but they dont split checks so keep that in mind. read more

Updating view to one star because second time I come in here when I told them I would tip them more if they removed the fee, he told me he couldn't and tried the sympathy appeal of "it goes towards the entire restaurant". While I'm happy to hear that, the voluntary higher tip could be distributed that way. It doesn't justify forcibly making us pay a 20% service fee. Tips are meant to be voluntary. Restaurants could just raise menu items further to account for the costs but nope. Easier to just do surprise fees (this time I knew about it). Happy to never come to the Chicago location again and only reward the WeHo location (which doesn't have this shitty system). One day I hope to lobby the Chicago city council to outright ban these service fees. I'm sure the 48th alderman supports it but one day someone DSA affiliated can hold these businesses to account. It's honestly a lovely venue with good service. But for this policy, I'd love this place. read more

Hamburger Mary's was formerly located in Andersonville at 5400 N Clark Street. Not long ago a new Hamburger Mary's opened just east of the Bryn Mawr CTA Red Line stop. My lovely wife wanted to impress her visiting friend, so we decided to attend the Drag Brunch last Saturday. Though we were a few minutes late for our 12:15PM reservation, things turned out AOK as the show did not begin until 1PM. Their website mentions that there is a $10 cost to experience the show plus a $15 minimum food and drink purchase per person, which I think is pretty reasonable. I enjoyed my Monte Cristo, which is an old school breakfast item you rarely see at diners these days. It features French toast, ham and cheese plus apricot preserves, along with a terrific side of breakfast taters. My mimosa was fine too. My love went with the Mary Burger which came with a big side of fries. Service was very attentive, as we never had to ask for our water carafe to be refilled. The drag show itself was very fun, clever, energetic and entertaining. Take some time to check out the kitschy art and decor on the walls. All in all, we had an excellent time at the new Hamburger Mary's. read more

Just got back from Hamburger Mary's for drinks, dinner, and bingo. First, the interior is very gay and I love it. Pink and Purple colors everywhere. High heel shoes, an '80s album in a picture frame hanging on the wall. The host was friendly and my server (Debbie) was friendly and cute. I had the Carrie Bradshaw (Cosmo Martini) the drink was good so I had another one For dinner, I had the Mary Burger with cheese no Mary sauce, and fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were hot. The last time I was at HM was in 2019 and the service wasn't great. The service here was amazing. Debbie came by making sure I was fine. I played bingo but I didn't win, I will come back since I'm less than 10 minutes away from here. read more

We are so excited that Hamburger Mary's reopened! It took us a minute, but we finally made it over for Thursday night "Dinner with Diva's." Events now have a $10 cover, but it is the LEAST we can do in this day and age when Dolls are under attack and need folks to stand up and be allies, both politically and financially! Protect the Dolls! The new space is definitely more spacious! The entrance is welcoming and grand with a bar for folks to grab a drink in case there is a wait. You do not need to make a reservation, but when there is an event, reservations are definitely recommended! The host and server were phenomenal, welcoming us with kindness and helpful expertise. Our server was particularly kind and just a ton of fun to spend the evening with! It was Drag King night while we're there and it was an absolute blast. We enjoyed the Kings so much that I forgot to take any pictures. It was such a blast, you need to go check it out for yourself! During our dinner I got a dirty dry gin martini and the Mr. Big cocktail. My husband got the Anti-Hero IPA. It is a great drink menu. Something for everyone! For food, my husband got the Chicago Fire burger with tots. He loved the zip to the burger, but said it was not an overwhelming spicy flavor. I got the September Burger of the Month: "We start with Mary's juicy beef patty with melted Jack cheese on a bed of fresh arugula, topped with house-made Bacon Jam, Cajun Remoulade and crispy sriracha-fried-onions on a fresh potato bun." It was SO GOOD! If I happen to go back again this month, I'll probably get the same thing! We loved seeing the staff from the previous location, like Barbie, and we felt right at home. Along with upgrades, like soap in the bathrooms from Edgewater Candles. Yay and yum! We are so excited to have Hamburger Mary's back in the neighborhood and we look forward to many future visits. So if you have lived in Chicago for a while, you may recall when Hamburger Mary's was a longtime fixture in Andersonville; it's part of a chain, but that was the only location in Chicago, and it closed during the pandemic. Happily, this location in Edgewater opened a few years later, bringing great food, friendly staff, and fun events to the area. I should mention for practical purposes that if you're offended by Pride flags and the like, this is not going to be the restaurant for you. But for queer folk and allies, Hamburger Mary's offers great food, as well as events such as Drag Brunch, HamBingo (benefitting different charities), and MaryOke (karaoke), as well as Dinner with the Divas. We stopped in for dinner before a movie at the Music Box, not far away; we were there before pretty much anyone else rolled in for the evening, so the vibe was quite chill, but our server, Loren, was very friendly and checked in on us a bunch. The food was really great (which cannot always be said for places that are leaning into a theme: sometimes they just get by with so-so food because they know people will come for the 'gram factor). I had one of the flatbread that was named for The Golden Girls (I got The Sophia Petrillo, which was topped with pesto, balsamic glaze, mozzarella and arugula, and was really a delicious combo of flavors; our server Loren said it was his favorite of the flatbreads); my husband got the garlic parmesan "wangs," which he polished off in short order. I also appreciated that their mocktails were only $5, as opposed to some places where they cost just as much as an alcoholic drink! Already planning to bring some friends for Drag Brunch. Oh Mary! Went to HM's for Happy Hour (5-7 PM) on 6/25 and were handed a bill for $62! The waitress told us flatbreads were $5 and PBRs were $3 each. The bill itemized $12 for PBRs ($6 each) and flatbread for $15. The hamburger I ordered was $20 as reflected on the menu. A 20% tip of about $10 was added. Upon speaking to the manager, he reduced $6 from the beer and charged the $15 for the flatbread, which wasn't worth it. When I told him he should have his Happy Hour Specials in writing, he proceeded to hand me the Happy Hour Menu that she FAILED TO GIVE ME. BUYER BEWARE! Don't take the wait staff's incompetence out on your customers. Make sure your staff is properly trained to provide accurate menu and specials in writing. We should have been compensated $10 for the flatbread. read more

I've been here a couple of times now - the kitchen is just getting their sea legs, so the food right now is fine - a bit average - but fine. I have confidence it'll improve! Be aware there is a $10 extra charge for the drag show, and an automatic 15% service change added on. You can tip more - and you should - but you don't HAVE to. What I'm hoping is that Mary's is a runaway success and they open up on a day or two from Mon-Wed. Then, those of us that want a simple drink after work, maybe a snack, can come hang out without the extra show charge. But right now, I could not be MORE thrilled that this restaurant is back. First, I'm quite content that Hamburger Mary's is back in Chicago. I miss Mary's Attic more but we won't split hairs today. The food was great. I was very content with my cheeseburger and my friend was content with his chicken wrap. Our service was friendly and fun. Bingo was occurring while we were eating and I enjoyed that though didn't participate. The vibe was chill yet fun and the decor is fun to look at. I'm disappointed in the 20% service fee added to all checks then an additional tip is available. I understand it's optional but the first time we see this should not be on the check. If it's displayed elsewhere, I didn't see it. The 20% service fee is shared that it's for everyone working. Service fees and tip culture should be unnecessary. read more

We did drag brunch and had a blast! Great drinks, delicious food, and fun times were had. Our server was so nice and gracious, and the performers dazzled. We brought our kids ages 8 to 10, and they were very welcomed. My daughter acted like she's been going to drag shows since the 90s. Sorry but the new venue and area, along with poor service and now horrible food, is a real disappointment, especially when the owner was right there and I mentioned it to him. I love my cocktails but you know if I can barely manage 2 sips and left my full drink there, there's an issue. Above it all, there were only 6 of us throughout the restaurant so no excuse for the horrible service, food, cocktails. It totally sucked. read more

I was really excited to visit Hamburger Mary's yesterday, especially since it left Andersonville about a year ago. The new space looks beautiful--exactly the kind of fun, colorful vibe I expected. One surprise: if you want to watch the show, it's now $10 per person. Before, everyone got to enjoy the show without an extra charge. The performers, though, were fantastic--super fun, encouraging, and really got the crowd going. The food has definitely improved, but with a name like Hamburger Mary's, I was expecting the burgers to be outstanding. They were good, just not "wow" good. Drinks were a little disappointing--the Bloody Mary was more "bloody" than "Mary," meaning light on the alcohol, though the price suggested otherwise. Another surprise was the automatic 15% service charge, no matter what you order. For two burgers, two Bloody Marys, and the $10-per-person show fee, the bill came to $125. I added another 5% tip plus tipped the performers separately. Overall, the staff was very nice, the show was a lot of fun, and the atmosphere is great. I don't see myself visiting too often at those prices, but I wish them success. If the drinks improve, that alone could get me to stay longer and order another round--or three. read more

I threw a myself a birthday party at Hamburger Mary's. I worked with Brandon and Ashley to reserve 3 high top tables in the bar area. They allowed me to bring in some decorations and balloons, etc to make the space more festive. The night was amazing and all the staff and Mary's made my night super special. read more
