We were on staycation this week, and stopped here after a day of rivertown exploring. I was excited to see some unique flavors - Mexican chocolate, which I discovered on our last vacation at Graeter's (an Ohio ice cream place), and loved. I had a half scoop of Mexican chocolate and half of vanilla with a waffle cone and asked them to put it in a dish. It was very tasty. My husband had peppermint with a sugar cone and no dish and he had a hard time eating it before it melted. Make sure you grab some napkins! The portions are large - "1 scoop" was probably more than 1 measuring cup. I strongly recommend getting it in a cup and not to overlook the half-scoop option (if only to try more flavors!). Moo Moo's is near the bandstand right on the Hudson River, and you can sit on the porch and eat your ice cream with a fine view. It was a very pleasant way to end our day and we will be back! read more

I got a half scoop of cake batter and cookie dough which you can do just ask! I thought the cake batter was good except the cookie dough had 2 pieces of cookie bits in it so I basically got vanilla. The line took about 20 minutes so if you're in a rush not a good place for you. The ice cream is very creamy but good. All in all, it was good! read more

WARNING: Their serving sizes are dangerously huge. One big scoop is pretty much three regular scoops anywhere else and more than enough for one person. This turns into a problem when you want a bite of cone but you ordered two scoops and have a whole scoop to go. The good news is that their ice cream is pretty good. You can taste how fresh it is and their flavors are nicely balanced, if a bit plain. Line was long but moved quickly enough. Hard to beat eating some ice cream by the water on a nice day. read more

Best ice cream in the hudson valley!

Been going to Moo Moo's since it opened and it was always fresh, rich, creamy, and homemade. Fast forward to March 2014 after Moo Moo's opened for the season. The quality has definitely changed. I had the strawberry. The texture was gummy and unlike the past years when they used real whole strawberries, it appears Moo Moo's is using a gelatin or a jam of sorts. Even more upsetting was the fact there was a distinct aftertaste. On top of this the color was different. In the past they used no colors, but the strawberry was distinctly pink, which may have been from what appeared to be strawberry gelatin or jam. At $3.75 for a small scoop, I am very disappointed. It appears after two seasons of exceptional quality, they may now be using lesser quality ingredients. Its definitely not as good as it had been last season. read more

A little pricey but a great treat if you just finished one of the many nearby hikes. Also it's located right by the water and this area with benches where you can sit and enjoy ! Also they let you sample all the flavors. I enjoyed the maple and cinnamon flavors. I also tried the black raspberry. Great ice cream and perfect location next to the river to sit and enjoy the view. The mint chip was excellent. The ice cream was a little on the soft side so if you don't enjoy ice cream dribble on your hands I'd recommend the cup over the cone. Will definitely go again next time I'm in Cold Spring. read more

The icecream is ok- the employees were pretty friendly- but good grief, I asked for two cones, two scoops each and got about two pints on each cone... Seriously, it was wads of icecream the size of a cantaloupes balanced atop my cones. Then after handing me these laughably ridiculous messes which were already sagging down onto the backs of my hands they wanted to ring me up, because yes, it's really easy to dig in my pocket for my money while holding these things, Your only option at this point is to ask for a large cup to turn your cone upside down into (icecream spilling over the edges of the large cup) then pay (after the cashier allows locals to butt in line to buy their drinks, and turn to go realizing there's a residential style doorknob one must turn and pull (while your hands are full of these already melting messy monstrosities) to exit... It all seemed like some kind of bad joke to me... Like the whole business goal was to just screw with people. Maybe that's why they call it moo-moo's... It is portioned for morbidly obese moo-moo wearing Americans? No one needs that much icecream... read more

I don't see what all the fuss is about. I waited in line for 40 (!!!) minutes to get ice cream that was already melting in the freezer case. Granted, it was a really hot day, but when you're exclusively an ice cream place that can't keep your product cold, it's a huge disappointment. My ice cream was soup by the time I made it outside. Totally not worth it! And certainly not the best ice cream ever. read more
