Montgomery Cyclery in Montgomery is phenomenal! My wife purchased a new Thule roof cargo carrier for me for Christmas. We were going out of town on the 26th and the locking mechanism on the Thule Pulse didn't work. After working with it for close to 2 hours, we went to the Montgomery store and Scott (Store Manager) was INCREDIBLY helpful. He couldn't get the lock to work either and they had a different Thule carrier in stock that we replaced the Pulse with. Scott helped unload and load the carriers, was incredibly accommodating and stayed past his time to leave to ensure we were taken care of. Scott and his staff at Montgomery are the epitome of great service and dedication to their craft. I can't say the same about the folks at Beechmont's Montgomery Cyclery, but Montgomery will have a customer for life! These guys are rude, not professional at all. Stay away from these people who don't really want your business. First, I took my bike in for a tuneup. The first words out of the employee when I walked in the door was, "what do you need". I asked him to do a tune up on my bike. Not any other words except asked for my name and number and said it will be about a week. Secondly, I received a phone call 9 days (Saturday) later and was told my bike was ready. I went in on Tuesday and my bike was still on rack and hadn't been repaired. Waited an extra day (no problem on my part). Went to pick my bike up on Wednesday and again instead of a nice greeting, what do ya need? Told the store employee I was there to pick up my bike he asked me my name and he retrieved my bike and no other words except the cost of repair. As the store employee was running my card I asked about the tape on my handle bars not being wrapped properly, metal was showing from the handle bar and I asked if they used electrical tape to secure the handle bar tape and he replied yes. I thought he might say something likely me fix it before you leave. People, bikers, do business elsewhere these guys obviously hate their jobs and don't really care about your business. Good businesses greet customers with a pleasant welcome of some sort. Good businesses communicate throughout a business transaction. Good businesses fix things they mess up or overlooked, especially when it is pointed out to them. This is a bad business. read more

These guys really need help. They're barely ever open and they don't have very many parts at all for BMX or larger tube tires. I called about maintenance and repairs just needed a simple brake line ran and a chain put on for my bicycle and they said that I need to drop it off right away and they will look at it in four weeks and let me know. Why would anyone say that? I would never. Anyway I went downtown on Sunday and got it put on for 10 bucks in 20 minutes while I waited. This is the worst business in the Anderson Twp area. They never have any reasonably priced bikes for sale so be prepared to pay at least $3000 for a used bicycle. Also, the customer service is horrible. There's one older man that isn't helpful or friendly at all. I just spent $250 on a bike rack for my vehicle and he wasn't willing to help me put it on my car because the store was busy. I'm not sure what his definition of "busy" is because they don't have much for sale and there was only two other people in the store at that time. read more

We took my 82-yo father here to buy a cruiser-style e-bike. As avid bikers, we knew what we were looking for. This was a Tuesday. They had my dad put a deposit down on the $6k(!) bike he wanted so they could transfer it to the Beechmont location, and advised they'd have it in the store and put together for him the next day. We emphasized to them that we (my husband and I) were only in town two days, and we'd like to ensure my dad had the right bike "for him" before we left. We stopped at the store again at 2:00 Wednesday. They had the bike behind the counter, but hadn't started putting it together yet. They told us it would be ready in a few hours, and they'd call when it was ready. May husband called about an hour before they closed to ask if it would be ready. He was told they'd have it ready Thursday around noon, which was after we had to leave, so now my dad had to FaceTime with us while he test-rode the bike and we spoke with the salesman on Thursday, but he had to wait for other family to be available the following Wednesday (tomorrow) to help him pick it up, since MC doesn't deliver. By circumstance, we were able to travel back to Cincinnati yesterday (the following Monday), so we went out of our way to take my dad to pick up his bike (he was like a little kid at Christmas!). Fortunately, my dad was laser-focused on the bike itself, because the CSR we "worked" with to finalize the transaction and go over the bike was horrible! He literally rolled his eyes at my husband when asked to make sure the original seat was included with the accessories (my dad purchased a different, comfort seat). He explained as little as possible to my father, did NOT accompany us when we took my dad out back to make sure everything was adjusted to fit him, and barely spoke at all when ringing up the purchase. He made it clear we were an annoyance and he wanted to get back to working on the bike he had on a stand. What we really don't understand is, if you've got a customer who wants to shell out many thousands of dollars for a top-shelf bike as soon as you can sell it to them, why treat them like they're irrelevant? Roll your eyes when they're asking a question? Is the $35 you're getting for changing that flat tire that much more of a priority? Also, dealing with an octogenarian who knows nothing about the product --other than that he thinks it's the greatest invention ever--is going to take a little more time than selling a high-end road bike to a elite racer. Deal with it. My dad's happiness, satisfaction, and SAFETY is your JOB! I should not be the one to explain the gears on the bike to him. Had my dad not been over-the-moon about getting that bike, we most certainly would have taken our business elsewhere. Shame on you. read more

Brought Trek bike in for new tires/tubes prior to long vacation. Had to bring it back a 2nd time as inner tube was flat - $22 charge. Got to northern Minnesota and set out to ride - tire again flat. Had to go to a town 30 miles away for repair. Repair shop in northern MN thought a USED inner tire had been put on for repair - they said the striations appear to show USE. We were charged $25. in MN. for new inner tube and repair. Upon returning from our vacation we went to Montgomery Cyclery - hoping to recoup some money. They gave us $22 for our 2nd repair bill, but would not pay us for our trouble and time and extreme inconvenience for the $25 charge in MN. The manager seemed offended and testy when we told him the MN cyclery said the inner tube appeared to be used. WILL NOT GO BACK HERE AGAIN. SERVICE POOR, MANAGEMENT ACTED INAPPROPRIATELY TO US - THE CUSTOMER - WILL NOT RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS/FAMILY EVER. read more

Their hours are trash and their customer service is worse! I bought my bike through another Montgomery Cyclery and go to this one for maintenance because it's closer. I'll be traveling farther, for employees who are not disrespectful with every encounter. If this sounds far fetched, I encourage you to give them a call. My wife and I bought bikes at Montgomery Cyclery on Beechmont Ave. and Peter assisted us in our order. He was very informative and he showed us numerous options. I really appreciated that he took the time to find out what we wanted from the bike. He spent a lot of time with us, and after we bought the bikes and a rack he put the rack on for us. They put our bikes up on work racks and made sure they were inspected and in top shape before selling them. Another employee helped us with our helmet selection. It was obvious to me that they care about what they do, and I was very happy with our selections and their service. read more

Excellent customer service and expertise! I needed some new wheels for my custom wheelchair and took a chance on a bike shop and was not disappointed! Charlie and Clayton took one look at my "ride" and recommended what could work and took great care of me. With ease Charlie took off my old tires and installed better ones than I came in with. I had a minor crash on my bike near the Loveland-based Montgomery Cyclery (MC). The crash bent the hanger on my back derailleur. The guys at MC were extremely helpful, fixed the problem within 5 minutes, and away I went. On top of the great service, they didn't charge me for the service. Love MC!!! read more

Just found out that Montgomery Cyclery does not recycle all the used tires and tubes when they change out tires/tubes. I was surprised when I heard that from them. Given the amount of tires they change I have to admit it seems a little irresponsible of them. read more
