I stopped in here to see if they had replacement screws for a Schwinn. Although they didn't have exactly what I was looking for, they pulled out all their various bins of screws and spent time figuring out what would work. I was surprised at the amount of time/effort that was put into helping me (I had never set foot in the shop befre). In the end, I was charged $2 for the screws I needed - obviously finding what I needed was an act of customer service vs making money. I would have no hesitation bringing our bikes here in the future, as they obviously care about helping their customers! read more

I bought my husband a kona mountain bike last year. Very pleased and happy to purchase from this store. Staff was very helpful and friendly. They let my husband ride the bike a couple of blocks (test ride). Since we purchased the bike, he gets free tune ups. We come here also for maintenance or repair on our other bikes. Found a couple older Specialized bikes that had been sitting for quite a while. Our kids are getting new bikes for Easter and we wanted to "tune" ours up and ride on Easter. Smitty's received my call on Friday (Good Friday) and told me to come in and he'd do his best to knock them out in time but it could be Tuesday before we get them back due to holiday. When I dropped them off, he explained everything that he could see that needed addressed that wasn't covered in tune up and ensured I was okay with it. Extremely knowledgeable and nice! I received a call at 10am Saturday (less than 24hrs later) stating my bikes were ready! He could tell in my voice that I wanted to ride with my boys and ensured we were able to do that!!! Rarely do I care to write an review, however my experience with Matt, was truly horrible. Matt was aggressive with his misinformation. Matt continued his aggressive behavior as I said I no longer wanted to do business with Smitty's. Matt harangued me with threatening soliloquy of bad service comments. I have been bringing my road bikes to this store for about 5 years. In my opinion, this place has always fixed my road bikes quickly and correctly. Recently this shop worked on my personal road bicycle and my wife's road bicycle that were purchased and assembled at another local shop. Smitty's Cyclery was able to adjust the bicycles so that we no longer had a negative riding experience on the bicycles. Stopped in today when I discovered my tire was shredded and found a small but well stocked bike shop just off Wooster Pike. This isn't one of those bike + other athletic activity shops, it's just a bike shop. They sell bikes (looked to be a good selection of multiple price points) and bike stuff and do repairs right in front of you in the shop. The guys there got right to work on my problems, but made sure that I understood that sometimes they are busier and can't get to things right away. For a very fair price, they changed out my tire and tube and got me new brakes so I can be back on the road right away. They were friendly and attentive to everyone that wondered in with all levels of bikes and seemed to really know their stuff as well as be biking enthusiasts themselves. I will definitely return for my biking needs and if I make future bike purchases, will stop by here first. read more

Smitty's did a great job repairing/ tuning the brakes on my Schwinn cruiser. It took only a few days to get back my bike and it was relatively cost effective (it's a cheap bike so I didn't want to pump a bunch of money into it). Rude, bad customer service. The older repair man was an inexcusably rude bully to me on 3/20/20. I brought a bike tire in for a minor measurement that I had previously discussed with him over the phone. Without discussing it with me and without my approval, he began completely different work on my tire. When I was politely trying to figure out what he was doing and describing what happened, he yelled at me, saying he was the expert, not me and that the problem was I wasn't thinking. In a very agitated tone he barked that he was almost done (with the work I was not aware of & had not approved) and did I want to be able to be out riding tomorrow? I was so shocked by his disrespectful & bullying tone that I said fine. I'll be back tomorrow. I left the store furious, hurt, and in disbelieve at such horrible customer service. The next day I called and calmly explained what I would & would not pay for. He called back & in his bullying tone threatened that if I didn't pay what he demanded I would not get my tire back. I left a voicemail calmly stating what I would pay for & if I had to I would get the police involved. He responded with a voicemail in a calm normal voice that he could not make the repairs & that I could pick the tire up, no charge. Which I did. This behavior is unacceptable customer service & no way to run a business. I will never do business at this place again. read more
