I don't think I've ever given a 1 star review to a (probably) local owner. After reading a bit about the ownership, I learned that this Monte Cellos location was sold and is managed by a "Sonny." It was a Sonny I messaged. Our fb messenger interaction is screenshotted in pics. In short, we ordered online on Monday. The restaurant decided to close due to a storm the evening prior. I thought roads were perfectly clear so it never occurred to me that they'd be closed. We waited almost 2 hours before realizing they have to be closed. No VM message, online orders took, and $ withdrawn from the bank (reversed the next day). I was still craving Monte Cellos so we ordered on Tuesday. It took 75 min to get our food, and the order wasn't complete. We had been charged for 2 full dinners but received no soup or salad. I figured I'd call during day shift when manager is likely to be on site. I couldn't call until Thursday bc I was so busy in meetings on Wednesday. The manager with whom I spoke was rude and not at all helpful. He blamed me for waiting the extra day, said I could "cone get the soup," and refused a partial refund. As a Monte Cellos patron since we moved to PGH in 2013, I was so taken back by the attitude and lack of willingness to treat loyal customers like a business who cares about their loyal customers. This guy's attitude, when summed up in a statement, seemed to be,"screw you. I don't care. We got plenty of customers. It's all your fault." I was angry and very disappointed. We've had plenty of issues over the past 13 years, but nothing that warranted a phone call or even a mention until now. I asked for the manager on a local foodie site and Sonny messaged me. I believe it's reasonable to want a partial refund, especially when the manager is so confrontational about the issues. For my own business, I turn off scheduling online for my business when I'm not going to be there.. it's easy.. Their failure to turn off ordering seems less like an "oops, sry," and more like a middle finger to the customer and pure arrogance. Add to that the agreement to give so e refund but not following through warrants a 1 star review. This is literally my first one star for a non-corp restaurant. If I didn't do research, I wouldn't know this place is not related anymore to the actual Monte Cellos. If this was my first interaction w Monte Cellos, I sure wouldn't be back. I'll visit the other locations, but never again to Wexford unless something tremendous changes, like management or owner. When you read the msg chain, I'll readily admit to being mad. I felt gaslighted by the manager. I don't remember if it was Sonny on the phone or another name, I just know no refund was given and the lack of accountability was over the top. read more

I ordered Zucchini Planks that were oozing with grease and inside of Zucchini was not fully cooked.Ordered boneless wings and there were hard as rocks.Finally ordered steak salad and the meat was cut perfe tally uniform which made me question its authenticity and it just didn't taste right.Originally was charged 28. 50 for this food until I asked to speak with a manager. All of the food that was uneaten was removed from my check. The young lady that waited on me was very nice and I guess the manager that come over to speak with me was a bit condescending.However, she did reimburse me for the food that was uneaten. Love the Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Always a family favorite. This visit i realized I had never reviewed the wexford Monte cellos. Love updated interior and staff is always friendly & attentive. Unfortunately, today, many of the beer taps were empty & our food took quite a while to come out. Happy they brought back the lunch buffet from pre-pandemic. I enjoy their pizzas (the sauce leans sweet which I don't mind but I know that's a red flag for some so it's worth noting). Buffet felt a little makeshift and inconsistently updated. Server was super friendly. Hard to not point out that $12.50 for pizza, wedding soup, salad, meatballs, garlic knots, and spaghetti compared to $10 up the road at roma for more diverse pizza toppings, rotating mains like chicken parm, rotating pastas, 2 soups, salad, and cookies. Their operation runs a bit more smoothly too as I've seen it with big crowds where there were about 5 people partaking in the buffet here and still a bit of a wait. Pre pandemic I recall things like Buffalo chicken and Philly steak specialty pizzas but over the 90 minutes here I saw pepperoni, plain, peppers onions, and sausage bacon. Overall good value but given the competition around the area for same concept, it doesn't feel as good of value. read more

Went tonight and was very disappointed. We have been there several times and the food was generally good. Tonight it was terrible. There was 7 of us and it was not super busy. Took a half hr to get drinks. Then we place our order which included two pizzas plus other orders. The pizza was half raw one we sent back and the cooked it longer and then was overcooked. My wife got wedding soup that had zero flavor. Overall very disappointed. The bill was nearly $170 and was not worth $70 in my opinion. Probably won't be back. read more

This place was ok. Our waiter was very nice. We waited a very long time, they told us the wait was 30 minutes and it turned out to being around 45 minutes, then we waited much longer to be served. The food was good but if you don't get the Chicago deep dish and ask for the tomato fillets there is no pizza sauce on it and i was very confused because i wasn't informed. I did love the vibes of the place though, everyone was nice and people who were at the front were very inviting. Would come here again just wish there was a better wait time. read more

i remember a few years ago the food was very good and always had me coming back, but last night my gf and I went to have dinner at the Wexford location and I think it's under new management now and my Stromboli was undercooked and also asked for no onions or tomato without Italian and I got the food with everything on it. My gf ordered a red sauce pasta that we probably could've made better at home unfortunately and the service from our waitress was just as bad. No personality or even feeling comfortable being in there. We will not be coming back due to lack of service and undercooked food. I was hoping to show my gf good food for our date but we weren't happy. $40 for mediocre Italian food. read more

Bad rating from a big fan of another location! We heard about the new ( to us) pizza buffet that was in another further location of our favorite Italian restaurant, Monte Cellos in Cranberry Twp. We excitedly drove to Wexford to experience to experience Monte Cellos great pizza and service, WRONG! We were greeted with 2 pans of cold, dry pizza that were made up of different pizza types from earlier pies that were arranged on the plate together. I complained to our waitress about the state of the buffet and she said "not too many customers had showed up today and they didn't bring out new until the existing were eaten" However she did offer to make us what we wanted, which I did, and after 10 to 15 minutes it was brought out to the buffet (it was great). They also had watery wedding soup and a nice salad available . Buffet is from 11:30 to 2:30 Pm. We arrived at 1pm. $12.95 for 4 small slices of fresh pizza was excessive. No refills on drinks. Placed an online order at 4:10pm tonight (a Monday), but it wasn't delivered until 5:40. Ninety minutes! It was supposed to be between 65 and 75 minutes. That is ridiculous, especially on a weeknight. And, the Apple Walnut salad in this order was terrible. We ordered food at our workplace ( five separate orders) We were charged a fee of 3.00 a person per order. They should tell you about this charge when placing your order! Each person paid the 3.00 fee plus we each added a tip! That is ridiculous! Especially when the driver had an attitude to top it off. I've been to Monte Cello's before - it's one of my staples for good Italian food. Tonight, my parents went for dinner around 6pm. We got seated right away in the main dining room. It was busy and noisy because there were multiple family birthday parties going on. Once those parties left, it was quiet and relaxing. We started with the zucchini appetizer. I was assuming it would be the normal zucchini planks, but they were zucchini fries. It was an generous amount of zucchini. The zucchini was delicious. For my entree, I ordered the chicken parmigiana. You get two sides - I chose a cup of wedding soup and side of penne pasta. The wedding soup was amazing - there were so many meatballs in each cup. My chicken parmigiana was perfect- however, Monte Cello's has decreased their portions recently. The last time I went there - I got two pieces of chicken. This time, I only received one piece. The chicken was fresh - not frozen and I didn't have any gummy edges. I'll definitely be back and I'll order the chicken Parm again soon. read more

This was an experience to remember. Unfortunately it wasn't a very good one. I had only been here once before to get takeout. The night I came back to dine in, I was meeting with family here over a holiday weekend. I've been a fan of their pizza for a long time at other locations. The wait was long, and usually that isn't really in the restaurant's control. The odd thing was we waited for about 45 minutes and then we were taken to a nearly empty back dining room. The hostess told us that we were waiting that long because there was no silverware. (??) OK, weird. It took 10 minutes for a waiter to come to our table and take drink orders. Then when side salads came, we still had to wait several minutes to get forks. I grabbed unused napkins from the next table because we were never brought any. When we got pizza, the waiter pushed my uncle's phone right off the table to sit food down. Then for some reason the pizza I got was not put on a table stand, but sat on a tray precariously behind my cousin. It was little things like this that kept happening all night. The food was OK. It was just not very good service. And there was 20 percent gratuity added to the check because there were eight of us. It was as if the server wasn't trying because he was going to get a good tip anyway. Needless to say I'll probably stick to the takeout experience from now on. Sometimes the pizzas are good. However, if you order a standard pepperoni pizza, you will often get a pre-made pie which is not fresh. You have to be sure to ask for a freshly-made pizza to ensure you won't get one that has been sitting in the kitchen for a while. read more

I went here and ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. They first brought a salad, which was pretty good. But when the Fettuccine Alfredo came, I was extremely disappointed. Strike 3 for me. The pizza used to be above average but the last several times its been well below average. Two undercooked (raw dough undercooked) traditional pizzas and an awful Sicilian. The Sicilian is bread with sauce and a thin layer of burnt cheese that slides off entirely with the first bite. Wouldn't recommend-especially for the price. You're better off with jenos frozen or bowling alley pizza. read more
