    Penne ala Vodka
    Marnie S.

We have driven past Aviva many many times, but recently heard from our neighbors that this place is one of their favorite Italian restaurants in the area. We took note of that and made it our date night destination. I ordered the penne ala vodka and it was just as I expected it to be. Great flavor, noodles were al dente and the slice of bread on the side was a nice touch. My husband ordered the Aviva pizza and both of us really enjoyed it. It definitely had a little heat, and I am usually a wimp when it comes to heat, but it wasn't too much for me! haha! The service was pretty quick and attentive and the restaurant itself was cozy and welcoming. Given that we love a good wood fired pizza, we will likely be back in the coming months.

Came in for date night and couple weeks ago and really enjoyed our meal! We had great service, the restaurant has a nice warm ambiance, and the food was great! The pizza had a little bit of heat, but was still enjoyable and made for great leftovers day two. The penne pasta in vodka sauce was also great and the sauce had a nice rich flavor. Price point is a little high for personal pizza, but I think it was worth it and will probably be back.

Had their food truck pizza at an event and had to come try it out. My personal thought is that it's a little pricey. Albeit so, the food is delicious!!!! The red potatoes were just kinda burned and hard and that's coming from someone who likes crispy potatoes. The pizza was fantastic and my wife loved the penne al vodka. I really enjoyed my chicken parm sandwich the chicken was perfect. The side of sauce to dip it made it even better. We got 3 meals, a pizza, and a qt if soup to go with pop for all 3 of us and it was over $80. Little high but again we really enjoyed the food. Just makes it more of a treat when we can afford it. With the kids it wouldn't be doable but happy to have gotten to go. If you haven't tried them I highly recommend it.

Okay! Haven't been here in a few years, since I haven't been this way in a long time. Was craving Italian and knew I'd been somewhere good before so I did some research and rediscovered Aviva! I walked in and, again the smell is amazing, was greeted by Melanie. She was very pleasant and sat me at a table. I asked about beers they had and she recommended a local IPA - Spot on! When she asked if I was ready to order I said "I'm torn. When I was in before I spoke with Jay and told him how good the chicken parm was and he said "next time try the pizza". I really wanted a meal though". She suggested I try the Ricotta Gnocchi and add chicken instead of meatballs. Melanie was 2 for 2! The meal came out and she said "I brought you extra sauce for the chicken (which was breaded and had cheese melted in it)". She was like my kindred spirit! This meal was outstanding and the garlic bread was spot on! Jay was out of town so I didn't get to speak to him. Hope he sees this and maybe I'll see you the next time I'm in town! Great Job Aviva, Melanie, cooks, and Jay!! 5 Stars!!

Note: no pictures of pizzas-so good I finished by the time I remembered to take a picture. I dined here with my toddler and my parents on a Friday night. They say they use the Yelp join the waitlist feature; however , it continuously said live wait:0, on our way there but when we arrived we were told 15 minutes. We waited for about 25-30 minutes. While this was not a great first impression, it was smooth sailing from there. We started with the large rustica salad-Romaine, shaved Parmesan, dried cranberries, walnuts, gala apples, balsamic vinaigrette. The size was perfect for 3. My son had the kids pepperoni pizza which is HUGE! I had a piece the next day and it was A-ok. For the adults at the table, we ordered a Buffalo chicken pizza -Grilled chicken, mozzarella and provolone blend, Gorgonzola cheese, caramelized onions and house-made Buffalo ranch sauce. I highly recommend this pizza! It has a nice kick to it. We also ordered the Aviva- Crumbled hot Italian sausage, house-made fresh mozzarella, hot banana peppers and our signature red sauce. It was pretty spicy but I'm not a sausage fan so I didn't have more than half a piece. The crust is light and fluffy. Our server was super friendly and on point. I'd definitely want to return to try some of the pasta dishes!

    Express takeout option

Great takeout option in the north hills of Pittsburgh. Aviva Brick oven has a convenient location on 19 and even a separate "express" space, with its own entrance dedicated to take out orders. We indulged in the Vodka sauce pizza with sausage. The meat topping, combined with melty cheese & fresh herbs sprinkled on top made for a truly delicious pizza. I really enjoyed the vodka sauce as its much more savory and less acidic than traditional red pizza sauce. Also enjoyed the ricotta gnocchi and meatballs in red sauce. Tasty and well made, just what you are looking for in a hearty pasta dish. And now I am craving their pizzas again

We go to Recon which is located in the Meeder community. Free parking. Big field outside for kids to run. Phones got charged and I got a green beer. Four of us adults went and there were enough varietals that we each got something different. TVs had sports on and a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating was fully open and though my photos don't show it, people were there throughout the afternoon. I enjoyed it and would return. We've been up to the Butler location, but it's been a while and are glad to have one a bit closer.

On a Wednesday evening in July, my fiance and I found ourselves in the Cranberry area. We found…read morethis place and decided to give it a try, as we had never been before. It is also a non-chain establishment, which is a plus in this area. Recon Brewing is located within the Meeder neighborhood of Cranberry. It almost feels like you are in the wrong spot when initially entering, but eventually you stumble upon the "town square" area with a big lawn, several storefronts, and lots of sidewalks, which make it very easy to walk to. Since this is quite literally in the middle of a neighborhood, there is not a dedicated parking lot. However, there are spaces on the street around the entire area where all of the storefronts are. We had no issue finding a spot on this particular night, but I could see it being slightly more challenging if there is a big crowd eating here. We arrived here a little after 7:30, and it was not busy. Our dog was with us, so we opted for seats on the patio. The wait staff came to greet us right away, and were attentive to us throughout the entire evening. Since this is a brewery, we started off with a few beers. I had To Live & Rye, which is a red/amber rye. I appreciated this as an option, as a lot of places do not carry reds or red-adjacents, especially on tap. I enjoyed it, and it was a great sipper throughout the evening. My fiance ordered the Sour Series - Plum. He thought it was okay, but could have been more sour. Since they brew a lot of their own selections, these seem to rotate and switch out pretty frequently, which is a good way to be able to try lots of different brews. For an appetizer, we split the Cheese Curds. The portion, for the price, is okay. They were tasty, and I liked how you could choose whatever dipping sauce you wanted. We chose ranch, and thought it paired well with the curds. We both ordered 10" Personal Size Pizzas for our entrees, which are cut into 6 pieces. I opted for the Hot Honey, which was more of a white-style pizza with chicken on top and drizzled generously with hot honey. My fiance ordered the Peppers & Sausage, which had red pepper, banana pepper, and chunky pieces of sausage. Both had nice flavors, but we were not particularly wow-ed by either pie. The portion was solid for a personal serving, but if there are multiple people in your party, I would order multiple pizzas. Our total bill came out to be just under $50. I do not think this is unreasonable given that we got 2 beers, an appetizer, and two entrees. I think that in terms of overall value, this is very standard compared to similar restaurants and breweries. I loved the ambiance of Recon! If we lived closer to Cranberry, I could see myself coming here weekly, especially when the weather is warm. The patio lights make it such a cozy and warm atmosphere at night. It was not operating during our visit, but there was also a fire pit. There was a ton of seating here overall - both indoors and out. This would be a great spot to meet a large group of people, or just for a night out for two. There is even bar seating on the interior. I can see this being a great spot for the neighborhood to walk to and enjoy often. In terms of activity, there seems to be a lot going on at Recon. Though not anything specifically during our visit, there was a chalkboard advertising their regular events - DJ Trivia every Tuesday, Karaoke every other Thursday, as well as special events - a Comedy Show, Patio Party with music and vendors, and DJ Bingo. I would love to return for an event in the future! Lastly, I love how nice they were to our dog. He got a giant bowl of water with ice in it! The staff and patrons were friendly and welcoming to both us and him, which is a big plus when we bring him along on outings. There was even a donation box inside benefiting the Butler County Humane Society, so I know the treatment of my dog was not an off-chance occurrence. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to Recon Brewing at Meeder! This truly is the perfect spot to be able to walk to and socialize with neighbors, grab dinner or a drink, and enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance that they provide. Plus, there are plenty of events and fun activities that seem to be happening regularly to keep patrons coming back. The staff were all kind, and we enjoyed our food and drinks. I look forward to another chance to be able to enjoy Recon, hopefully partaking in one of their many events.
