Pretty alright pizza shop in McKee's Rock. Solid place for several other greasy options. The prices are quite reasonable. I decided to try out their cheese calzone and their cinnamon sticks/fried dough. The calzone was pretty good. It was on the sauce heavy side, and the sauce was decent. They do use what seems to be cheese chunks in the calzone, which isn't my favorite style. But, I like the extra dusting of cheese on top, and it's still a solid calzone overall. Good size as well. And, their ranch was quite good; went surprisingly well with the calzone. The cinnamon sticks were a disappointment. They aren't actually sticks, like breadsticks, but rather tiny pieces of fried dough with cinnamon on top. A bit too crunchy but strangely stale at the same time. It comes with some frosting. Good portion for an okay price. All in all, a very decent local pizza shop. Solid calzone, okay dessert. I probably won't come back, but it's not a bad option. read more

I was hardcore craving pizza yesterday. And I wanted the authentic stuff, not the terrible "might as well have gotten frozen" pizza. I yelped pizza places near me and Mama Lena's menu spoke to me. We got the Hawaiian pizza. It was a nice fluffy crust, tons of cheese, and just absolute perfection in the distribution of toppings. My only reason to dock a star is that the neighborhood isn't great and parking is awful. My boyfriend locked me in the vehicle to go get it himself since there was no way to pull up closer. The only good thing was the delivery driver was nice. However, the pizza must have been tilted in the car because the cheese slid into the corners of the box. I distinctly requested plain wings with the sauce on the side. They came covered in sauce plus I received an additional charge for ranch dressing that was not part of my order. They also said my credit card did go through and I had to give it to them again. That tells me that the order taker was not paying attention because I repeated it. Needless to say I was very disappointed. When I called they wanted to argue with me, replace and send back the wrong like I was trying to cheat them with a free meal. I heard all the hype about this place from friends and coworkers so I finally made my way across the bridge and got a seat in the dinning room with my mom and son. We ordered the child's size spaghetti and meatball, nacho grande, 2 slices of steak and ranch pizza, order of ribs, corned beef sandwich and fries)(never go to a restaurant where your starving ‍). Food came super quick and I mean like within 5 minutes. I absolutely loved the corned beef sandwich its kind of like a primantis but much better. The bun was Mancini and the top of it was brushed with what I believe was butter. No fat on the corned beef, Cole slaw was the best I ever had and the fries were seasoned and crispy. The steak and ranch pizza was bug and really flavorful you can tell they use fresh ingredients. My son loved his spaghetti and the helping was so big he didn't make it through even a quarter of the meal. The nachos grande were OK nothing out of the ordinary. All toppings were fresh (including actual real beef) and presented well. The ribs let me tell you.... THE RIBS! Surprised the hell out of me that you could get ribs like these at a pizza joint. They were fresh, meaty, perfectly cooked and the sauce was well balanced with smoky and sweet. They were also presented very well on a platter. Our server was a sweatheart and was very informative of the business, its history and recommended some of her favorite dishes. I will definitely stop driving past this place on my way home from work. First time trying Mama Lenas "II" I was a fan of the original. Steeler Sunday so craving wings big time. I had a tough time finding a menu online - that listed their wing flavors. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the flavored over the phone when I called to place the order. There were many selections. I chose Very Hot and Wet Cajun. The Cajun were very good and I am indeed impressed. The Very hot weren't that hot. They seemed like just hot wings with red pepper flakes on them.. but they were tasty. I ordered a side of fries. I don't expect fresh cut fries but it seems like every pizza/hoagie establishment in the area has the exact same fries. They are slightly coated with like a beer batter or something. I am always looking for the place that has great fresh fries. These were ok but just the same as any other place - meh. Hooray for the Cajun wings. We had a terrible experience at Mama Lena's. We placed a takeout order and took it home with us when it was ready. I had a horrible shock when I discovered that I had bitten into chicken (I have been vegetarian since I was a child) in the eggplant parmesan that I ordered. Mind you, when I placed the order, I said "eggplant parmesan," the cashier said, "chicken parmesan?" to confirm, and I shook my head and said, "eggplant parmesan" very loudly and clearly and she repeated "oh ok, eggplant parmesan" back to me. When I called the restaurant after making this horrible discovery, the two staff with whom I spoke did not seem to find this to be any kind of major issue and offered to make us drive back, which is 45 minutes round trip, to pick up a properly made eggplant parmesan or to just be refunded for the sub, which obviously I wasn't going to eat. I asked to speak with the owner and he was not there, though they were open. They took down my name and number and told me that he would call me today. He has not. It was a miserable experience and one we will never be repeating. Beyond that, the other food we ordered was pretty bad. We would give it 2 stars. It's just a greasy food joint that tries to make things taste good by just loading cheese and grease onto them. read more

In the area for just a few days so I found this place for a quick pizza fix. Simple order of a small pizza and fries/bacon/cheese. The pizza was really, really good. If you dig flimsy, thin, but super zesty tasting pizza.. this is your jam. It appeared to me that they threw on a little bit of cold mozzarella to melt over top of the rest of the cheese in the box during delivery, nice touch. I'd get it again no doubt. The pizza was not great in my opinion but the kids think it's awesome. I've told them we won't go back again because there weren't any COVID precautions in place. Maybe there's some other guidelines for employees that I'm not aware of but no employees were wearing masks and they didn't ask customers who were walking in to wear them either. When a friend told me about a great Italian place in McKees Rocks that offered homemade pasta, I was skeptical. I was even more skeptical when I parked in front of the place and went in because from the outside and first impressions, it's a pizza place. But if you walk beyond the counter you'll find a cozy and welcoming dining room. The service is top notch. My friend ordered the lasagna and I went with the chicken parmesan with pasta. My glass was never empty and neither was my belly. We were served side salads and several slices of bread (I can only assume from nearby Mancini's) each before our meals. The entree salads must be enormous if what we got was the "side" salad. Our food came not too long after. My friend's lasagna was beautiful and delicious. My chicken parm was enough food for three people and fed me for several days even after I enjoyed some there. We even met Mama Lena herself who graciously take a picture with us. We could not praise her and the food enough. And the cost? $13 for each meal was a bargain considering it was enough food for 2 days. Let this be a lesson...if you're rolling down Broadway in the Rocks, don't let Mama Lena's fool you. It's more than just a pizza place. read more

In our neighborhood, sheraden, there aren't many delivery options that have high quality foods. Their white pizza is perfect. You can tell that the chefs put a lot of love into the food they make. It's not cheap by any means but if you've already committed to ordering delivery pizza, spend a few extra bucks. It will be worth it. read more

Not much standing room so it was kind of difficult to hang around and wait for a to go pizza. For the past year and a half we have been having dinner at Mama Lena's II every week. They a have a quiet dining room in the back, very comfortable. We have worked our way through the menu a few times and have never had a meal that was less than great. It is always clean, the owners treat us like family. We started with Pizza, worked our way though their dinner, sandwiches and wings. When owners of a business take pride in what they do, it shows. Mama Lena's II is a gem in the heart of McKees Rocks business district. I recommend that you stop in the next time you are in "The Rocks"! read more

I love sweet pizza sauce, so I feel that their Pizza is among the best in Pittsburgh. But, be careful when ordering delivery. I had the pizza the first time I ordered from them, but the past 3 times they've messed up my order in one way or another. Once I got Cauliflower instead of Cheese balls, the next time I wanted 12 Breaded Wing Dings with the Buffalo sauce on the side, and they put the sauce on the wings (soggy, which defeats the purpose and just not what I wanted). Today, again, I wanted the sauce on the side and I got BBQ sauce... I will say that they rushed out a replacement order of wings the first time when the sauce was on the wings, but today, Math won out. I didn't call them and I probably won't order from this place again. If MY order was wrong 3 out of 4 times, how many others are as well. It's a shame because the pizza is pretty good. I was invited by some friends to meet here for supper before attending a geocaching event. My friends ate here last year and was so impress that they decided to eat here this year and invite me to join them. I was not disappointed.. I was really not prepared for this as when they gave me the menu. The menu is huge!! But I decided on the Italian hoagie while my son ordered the lasanga. My hoagie was good and my son's lasanga looked really good.. My friends ordered a pizza and a spinach feta roll which was huge.
