Food was excellent, so was service, and the people working were chill! I like to visit here whenever I'm in town.

We have been regular customers of Venice Pizza, ordering at least once a week for years, but after our last two experiences, we will not be ordering again. Yesterday my husband ordered a fish sandwich plain, just fish and bread. It arrived covered in mozzarella cheese. When he called to tell them the order was wrong, he was actually told to "just pick the cheese off." I ordered a Hawaiian pizza with ham, pineapple, and onion. Instead of the normal diced ham, the pizza was covered with huge chunks of what appeared to be scraps, ends, and big, tough rind-like pieces. I couldn't find a single good piece of ham on the entire pizza. Although we had paid for delivery, they said I'd have to return the food myself, so I drove both items back to the restaurant. The guy there, maybe the manager, asked if I had returned the two 20 oz. Cokes. I said no, so he charged us for those, plus the delivery fee and tip, and refunded only the food I returned. So we still paid $11.50 and ended up with no dinner. I agreed to leave the driver's tip because none of this was the driver's fault, but I was surprised the restaurant didn't simply refund the entire order and apologize. Had they done that, we probably would have given them another chance. Instead, there was no apology and no apparent concern about losing longtime customers. This came just a couple of weeks after a plain cheese pizza arrived looking like it had been dropped or tipped on its side, with much of the cheese slid across and piled up on one side of the pizza. I can't speak to the ambience of this location because I've never been inside usually only having delivery. However, the food is excellent. I highly recommend the yinzer hoagie or yinzer pizza. Delivery service typically comes fast no issues there. read more

Venice has probably the best pizza place hoagies around. The bread is so fresh and delicious. Whatever type you get is always fresh and flavorful. The pizza is also pretty good. It is not my favorite, but it is definitely better than most in the area. I always get mine cooked well done because times I haven't the crust was not very crisp. I'm currently shopping around for a new pizza spot- my old fave is anti-mask now so they immediately lost my business- and Venice was recommended to me by my neighbor. I ordered a pierogi pizza and a cheese pizza. To be honest, both pizzas were okay! The pierogi pizza was a nice change of pace- I'd never had mashed potatoes on pizza before lol. I wasn't blown away but! I added a star because the driver showed up in a mask and listened to my delivery instructions to leave the pizzas on my porch. With no close competition, this is definitely the best place for local pizza. The delivery is always super quick and always hot and fresh. The pizza always comes with a side of ranch, which is clearly homemade and amazing! The men who work in the pizza place are always so nice and polite. Tonight I chose to finally leave a review because I picked up our normal order: the large carry out deal with half hot sausage and half plain and a half veggie hoagie with no mushrooms, dressing or cheese + banana peppers. Well, I got home and sadly there was cheese on my hoagie. My husband called and they were very apologetic and brought a fresh new one to our house literally within 15 minutes. I've had this pizza delivered multiple times and never had a problem. I ordered an XL cheese, we ate about half and a small bug crawled out from under the remaining pizza. I called the shop and the manager (or owner?) told me that it probably came from my house because it couldn't possibly be from the bag or his restaurant. The guy on the phone said they heard cheese pizza so that's what you get. They said they will not refund or give us the right pizza. I think my favorite thing from Venice Pizzeria is their supreme steak hoagie. I like the added veggies to my steak hoagies so you're not just eating dry steak on bread. If you get their whole hoagies they are huge. Definitely enough for 2 people to share. The pizza at Venice Pizzeria is pretty good too. The best veggie hoagie in the world I think! Everything is always ready sooo quickly too. The workers/owner are so nice and everything seems to be homemade. We have lived in Pittsburgh for two years now and have struggled to find a pizza shop that is good and consistent with everything on the menu. Well that search is officially OVER! Venice has nailed it with consistency in food quality and friendly service the last 3 orders we have placed from them! There pizza has a great sauce and dough recipe and ALWAYS has fresh meats and veggies. We just tried there Gyro and Chef salads as well and let me tell you how pleased I was. Fresh crispy lettuce, perfectly cooked gyro meat, and crisp, delicious pita bread! Not to mention there Greek dressing is amazing!!!! I don't know for sure but I say it's got to be made in house. My brother, Zach, and I were hungry so we called Express whom we usually order from, but their phone was off the hook for over an hour. With hunger looming we decided to try a new place. This was our first time ordering from this place. The food was delivered within 15 minutes! The fastest time yet for any delivery food we've had. We got 2 steak supreme hoagies. The hoagies were massive! We could only eat half a hoagie each; we saved the rest for tomorrow. Also, we tried their tiramisu, and it was excellent! Very impressed with this place for the first time. My wife and I recently moved into the area, and while waiting for our kitchen to be put together I decided to try some local pizza. I chose Venice because they had the most fliers in my mail. So far I have tried: Standard Pizza - they don't quite get the concept of adding "extra sauce" when asked, but it's ok, the pizza is delicious. I have crohn's and usually pizza ranges from GI Cautious to Gastric WMD. This pizza though has NO bad side effects, the few times this happens it is because the place uses quality cheese. Perogie Pizza - Sadly this was bland. Could have used more garlic. PP is hard to make as most of the ingredients are bland to begin with. Chicken Broccoli Alfredo Pasta - Ohhhhh this was delicious, and in a large portion! This is better than most "Italian" restaurants. Totally recommend! Club Hoagie - After eating this I had a terrible feeling. It was so good that it felt like I had cheated on my wife. I couldn't look her in the eye for two entire days... UPDATE 9/18/2018: My wife isn't a pizza person, and when we have guests we get bulk pizza from Papa J's. So I was pumped to order when she went out of town last night. It was very underwhelming, the disappointment actually ruined my nights. Pepperoni & Mushroom Pizza - Still no extra sauce, and absolutely mediocre. I'd actually put it slightly below Papa Johns and Pizza Hut. Even as cold breakfast pizza I could only muster the enthusiasm to eat two smallish slices. Club Hoagie - the meats were too salty. The salt overwhelmed the flavors. I never thought I'd say this, but the most enjoyable part was the veggies with mayo. Note: This restaurant is 2-3 doors up from E.M. Pizzeria. I took the little woman here before she whisked me away to her Chippewa abode. Hmmmm. I'm struggling with how to rate Venice Pizzeria. In terms of pizza alone, E.M. wins the duel, slightly. Both are about even in terms of crust (Venice's isn't as puffy or textured), cheese, and toppings. Venice is very stingy with their sauce, to the point where you can barely taste it. It's still a very good pizza however, my girlfriend turning me on to the bacon/black olive/pineapple combo, which particularly worked wonders on what might have been a somewhat bland pie if I had ordered it my standard mush-n-pep way. We also split a gyro hoagie since the g/f doesn't like tomatos or lots of spices and wants gyros any which way she can get 'em. Man, are they cheapskates meatwise. And I should know better than to order gyros at pizzerias. It wasn't terrible mind you. The bread was terrific. I just HATE when pizzerias give you one slice of meat and stuff wads of lettuce and onion in between it to trick you. They didn't give us plates either. I order a pizza & tell them I have a Entertainment Book coupon. The guy tells me he will figure out my total once I arrive at the shop. Upon arrival I show him the coupon on my Entertainment Book app. He in turn says that he only knows how to use the coupon from the actual book. I even went as far as to show him the coupon code and still nothing. You would think he would at least offer some sort of compromise. After all, no one forced him to offer a coupon. The food is amazing! I recommend the gyro calzone. The gyro meat is delicious, so is the tzatziki sauce. I can tell that they use fresh, high quality ingredients. Me and my wife decided to give Venice Pizzeria a try after we received a flyer for their shop in the mail. We haven't been disappointed. The flavor of their pizza is consistently good and their chicken is pretty descent. I think what did it for us was the value. The pizza and chicken combination is a frequent Saturday night choice for us. I think it anything, the only thing that bothered me was the couple of times when the cheese from our pizza was messed up after being delivered. Worst manager I have EVER dealt with. I ordered a steak hoagie for delivery and it was absolutely not cooked correctly and tasted awful, so I called in because the hoagie was so inedible and was $15! I asked if they could just refund me and just either come get the hoagie or just refund it because I was not gonna eat that. He said he wouldn't refund me because that is not what they do and kept saying he can't afford to lose money!! How ironic?? Treating loyal customers this way when you screw something up is gonna lose you a whole lot more money. Very dumb on his part. I then told him I was now going to dispute the charge on my card and he threatened to file a police report and take ME TO COURT OVER A $15 HOAGIE!!
