Yelp reviews are good, and here I am, enjoying a delicious meal at a neighborhood restaurant, run by locals. My favorite kind of restaurant. Parking is easy in a lot next to the building, or on street. An old neon sign over the sidewalk lights the way. An awning covered staircase leads to a small vestibule: the restaurant is on your right. A sign instructs to 'seat yourself'. There are two rooms here. On the left is a dimly lit bar area with booths along the wall. This area was full. On the right is a sunny dining area full of red and white checkered table cloth covered tables. The floor tiles are a bit old, but everything is clean, and the decor includes photos of Italian cities and mural. This side was about half full. So even on a week day lunch, this is a popular spot. Our entrees came with a choice of sides. We both opted for the side salad which is an iceberg mix, tomato, cucumber, chopped beet, black olive and crouton with choice of dressing. The bluecheese dressing is rich and flavorful with lots of cheese chunks. Slices of Italian bread and butter were placed on the table as well. We both ordered soft drinks (coke products), but as mentioned, there is a full bar if you want to add a glass of wine or other adult beverage to your meal. My eggplant parm was delicious. Thick slices of eggplant, cooked medium so they still had a nice texture, deep fried so they have a crispy coating, melted cheese on top and then smothered in a delicious red sauce. The sauce was not too light or heavy, plenty of spices, without being over done. A very tasty sauce. My side was fettuccini with white sauce. This has to be house made, with bits of fresh garlic in there. I was already full, but tried to eat as much of this as I could. Bathrooms are clean. I will start this by saying the rating for food-taste and service alone should be higher than a 3 star rating. I'd put that at a 5! However, I can't rate it higher--let me explain. I have now been here 3 times as of writing this review, all visits being in the past few months. Pre-Covid, my brother and sister-in-law raved about this place. As they knew how much I loved Italian food, they told me I needed to go. They raved about the food quality, the portion sizes, and the service. After my last 3 visits, I will say the food quality and the service has been top notch. The food itself has quickly became one of my families favorites, as far as "taste" goes. Unfortunately, I have to ask--what the heck is up with the portions we have been getting? My brother and SIL, who prompted us going in the first place, went with us on each of our visits. Even they said, "WTH is up with these portions?". Is it a coming-out-of-covid thing, or what? For example, we ordered full size spaghetti dinners, stuffed shell dinner, chicken parm dinner, alfredo, and one of the pasta specials. Our "large" pasta sizes were pretty much the same size as the kids dinners that they got! I truly don't understand how or why this has been going on, but for the price tag--I will not be going out of my way for these portion sizes. My chicken parm, for example--all 3 times I got a tiny, small piece of chicken, and a side of spaghetti that was gone in 2-3 "twirls". For $18? If it weren't for the bread, we would have literally walked away still hungry. It's super sad, though. It's some of the best tasting food I've had. Worst restaurant meal I had in my 50 years of life! Basically the salad I got was a pile of iceburg lettuce with sandwich meat and fake cheese sliced and put on top, one large olive cut in half, two cherry tomatoes and one boiled egg cut in half with a bunch of croutons. The picture is after I tried to eat it and what I left behind. Our waitress obvoiusly knew the food was bad because she never asked us how it was or asked if I wanted a to-go box. Stopped here on a Sunday evening in an attempt to break up the monotony of the work in the backyard all weekend, still not get done, and limp into ordering pizza. This has been on my bookmarks before everything got locked up- and in the hopes I could get some Italian from out of town- this was perfect. It was exactly what the pictures on here hint at: old-world Italian, place mats, bread baskets and no-nonsense food options. I kicked around the idea of getting two things but pizza wasn't on the menu so I went with the tried and true chicken parmigiana. We ordered bruschetta for an appetizer, and our entrees came with salad and bread. The salad was good - odd cubes beets in the salad which at first I was apprehensive about but they didn't have a taste and I was so hungry after skipping lunch that it didn't matter at all. The bread felt on the older side, but I killed about 5 baskets so it was good. As for the bruschetta it came out hot which - usually isn't how it is prepared but it was still very good. The balsamic on the side was a nice dipping sauce rather than a drizzle - and after I inhaled it into my hose thru my mouth, began choking and had the whole restaurant on high alert, I really liked it even with the melted cheese. My chicken parm was very good though I order angel hair and bc it was on the overcooked side was one big pile. Al dente probably is my go to. The chicken was breaded perfectly and the red sauce was more of the purée format which was good even though I usually prefer some chunks in there. I would put it in the top 10 chicken Parms I have had. For dessert we split a cannoli and cheesecake (I skipped lunch 'member?) which both were insanely good. Not just the owner at the end of the bar reading the paper, saying high and knowing everyone by name, as well as thanking anyone who came in, but just everything together you can tell this Italian spot is all Italian and the place to go. Went to the nearest place which I totally forgot about from past times in Uniontown. Two bonus points for not only being open, but being open on a Sunday during a pandemic & following simple guidelines to do so to make patrons' lives seem as normal as possible for traditional dinner dates. About an hour drive but the scenery was better than most. Have to go in town a bit from off the highway they have their own great big parking lot - can't miss it. (I almost did.) The building has been there for a long time and old and new touches alike were seen. Due to regulations, we got to choose our seats which was nice and for some reason I was feeling the booths - happy we sat there because we got to see humans interact. I like people watching. We got our orders in fast and all was easy to pick. Our server brought drinks, salads and bread ASAP. Only things to note: salad was different with little cubes of beets. Never had that before. Bread was not warm. I guess that's a preference thing? Let me tell you, when it comes to veal parmigiana, I feel as though I have a review of value. Anytime that item is on the menu, I order it. The title of this one said "World Famous" which meant I was getting it still. Really good. Really, really good. The veal was large and it came with angel hair. The veal was the perfect amount of crispy and breaded. The red sauce was what I think all sauces should taste like. Everyone has their own rendition and take on sauce but this was what I think said should always be. Taste, consistency etc. I had enough to take home for lunch, yay! We ordered dessert and I almost forgot to mention the bruschetta for a starter. The cannoli and cheesecake with strawberry sauce were great. Tony and I stopped here for late lunch after hiking for pizza. We were so disappointed in no pizza, so he had a beer, myself a Coke and we ordered appetizer Spicy Buffalo Shrimp to share. I grew up in this area and Meloni's truly is a staple of the Uniontown area . The restaurant is old school, don't expect much frill here. However, the quality of their food makes up for it. Like other yelp reviews I will agree that parking isn't the most ideal, but there is an off street lot available. Must, eat, Italian. The restaurant name speaks for itself, they do have non Italian items but they are famous for their parmesan. The portions are extremely large, high quality, and the prices are unbeatably low. read more

Unfortunately, not impressed. My dad has been going to Meloni's since he was a teenager (he's almost 80!) and really wanted to take us here for dinner. I really liked the history of the place, the years of service, the decor. It stopped there. Our salads were just ok, a house salad with beets and olives in it - very unusual and didn't care for that. I ordered the broiled (key word - broiled) scallops. They were not broiled. At all. See picture. They were simmered in a sauce, similar to scampi. Just not what broiled is. Disappointing. The sauce itself was ok, very garlicky. Scallops were cooked well. My father and daughter ordered pasta with olive oil and garlic and a meatball. They both felt pasta was very garlicky, but the meatballs were good. Just nothing to wow any of us. Very average experience. Think this is a one and done for us. read more

Walking inside I really wasn't sure what to expect because this place is pretty old and beat up, however, in my experience sometimes those are the best places. Our server was great , very attentive. My salad was fresh and I liked the homemade Italian dressing , eggplant parm was good , I usually like my eggplant sliced thinner , but it was cooked perfect. WOW!!! Where to start? Meloni's is this throw back style great family owned Italian restaurant. Trust me if you are close don't miss this place!!! I grew up as a fat little white kid with a few legit Italian friends in my neighborhood. This sauce is the same as grandma Vig's sunday dinner suga. Tuesday night I lucked out while in town for business. It was veal parmigiana night!! For $9.95 you get a big size portion of veal, side salad, a side, and served with bread. Huge meal!!! Tip is ask for the Georgiana sauce. For a $1 upgrade you can get homemade cheese or meat gnocchi or raviolis. I picked meat raviolis. See pic they were stuffed with a great mix of meat filling. A surprise was the side salad I ordered with blue cheese dressing. The bartender suggested that it was her favorite blue cheese and it was house made. I must admit the color was not what I was used to seeing but oh man the flavor!!!! I didn't ask but I wonder if it is not a mix of Italian dressing and blue cheese. So almost comes across as a sweet flavor with the robust flavor of blue cheese. Whatever it is they work very well together. For dessert I had to get spumoni icecream. It is hard for me home. And as I asked the old local guy next to me if it was good. He replied with the most appropriate line I've ever heard. "If God created anything better than Spumoni icecream he is keeping it for himself." LOL I agree and this was just the perfect dessert after an incredible meal. Congratulations Meloni's!!! Why would you come here? Your taste buds must be singed and you must be hard of hearing. My wife and my children came here and we couldn't have been more disappointed. Service was lacking and inexperienced. We felt like we had no privacy. Several surrounding tables were cussing like truck drivers. Everything we ordered was bland, including their famous chicken parmigiana. Parking was a nightmare, considering the parking police in their parking lot because there's several restaurants in this area and no place to park.
