We have dined there many times and couldn't wait to return for a delicious meal. Our experience tonight was exceptionally bad. We received our side dishes before the main course. Then my husband was presented with his main course. I waited another few minutes before my main course was delivered. I explained to the server that we were dining together. I refused my entree. A few minutes later the server returned to our table and was told by her I "disrespected her". They did deduct my dinner. But this is absolutely horrendous service. read more

I swear, it gets better every time I go. The appetizer mafalda is the one of my all-time favorite dishes, I dream about this pasta dish. The Lobster Romano is simply of the best meals I've ever had, it melts in your mouth, absurd amount of deliciousness. I also had the veal done like their hot chicken Parmesan, sweet and spicy, I liked it a lot. I was recently in Monessen, visiting my mom and decided to have dinner with two of my best friends, so we went to Lucchesi's. The food was excellent the best crème brûlée I've ever eaten however, when you're spending money like that and you have to constantly chase a waitress down for another drink I feel is unacceptable. I live in Palm Beach Florida where I'm very familiar with restaurants of that caliber, the difference is their service is impeccable they'll bring you a cashmere sweater. If you're cold, you shouldn't have to chase anybody down for anything. read more

We ate here yesterday for my friends birthday. It was a limited menu because it was Valentine's Day weekend. This is a very small place with about 10 tables. There is also a bar with limited seating. I would definitely make a reservation, in fact, it may be required. That being said, we had a reservation for 730pm and didn't get seated until around 820. It is family owned and run from what I understand so it has a very friendly atmosphere and the wait can be understood. The decor is quite a bit dated but everything was very clean. Street parking with meters but it seems like no one was feeding the meters. Our server was very nice. While there was a bit of a wait for our menus when we were seated and before our orders were taken, the food came out pretty quickly after that. I highly recommend the marinated peppers which are served with havarti cheese. I want more of this now! Entrees come with a salad which was good with then house dressing but a little lacking as mine consisted only of lettuce and a tomato. The option of crumbled blue cheese was available. For my meal I had the Black Sea bass topped with crumbled lobster. This was cooked to perfection with lemon and for this reason, was light and delicious. I opted not to have capers. My husband had the veal and wine which he said was very tender. Everyone raves over the cheese garlic bread but I personally was underwhelmed as I tasted no garlic but lots of butter. Don't get me wrong, I like butter, but I also like garlic! The prices for the entrees are around $35-$68 (this is the highest and lowest of what I saw). My husband and I both ate for $110 which included our entrees and app and 2 glasses of wine. I did thoroughly enjoy my meal and would like to come back when the full menu is available. Went here last night for the first time in about 9 years. It was perfect then and it's still perfect now. The Veal N Wine is the best veal I've had anywhere. My father had the Veal Parmesan and it was the best he could ever recall having. Highly suggest you start with the peppers and cheese appetizer. Understand they are now open only on Thursday - Saturday nights. Think this is because Les ( owner/chef ) is now in his 80's and slowing a little. Was in town for a golf outing and tried Lucchesi's. Not what you would expect in a small mill town. Everything we had was excellent, pasta, appetizers, bread and salads. Even the pleasant and classy old school ambiance was a surprise. Only 2 drawbacks, wouldn't be great for kids since time between ordering and meals was quite a while, (and there were only 3 tables occupied), and the prices are not for the meek, they are, shall we say, a bit salty. I used to work at Luccehesi's in high school washing dishes but never really sampled the food outside of the mafalda, why eat anything else =) This place is the best! Everything is made to order by Less or Edmond (Les's Son). Def try the mafalda or crab hozel as an app. The first time two times I was here for dinner I had the Lobster Romano (pictured) and it was out of this world AMAZING! I didn't want to keep ordering the same thing so the 3rd time I had the Veal and Wine and it was to die for. One thing I can say about this place is you don't go away hungry and you get your monies worth. You won't meet better people than Les and Pauline. Les will be sure to sit at the table and tell jokes as he sips coffee or water. Pauline always has a smile from ear to ear. The wait staff is great and very knowledgeable. I'm sure I will be back again, hell I was just there Friday and I am ready to go back again! I can't say enough good things about Lucchesi's. Make sure you put it on your list for upscale dining. Dined here last night with friends and our meals were delicious. They are doing 5:00 and 7:00 seatings due to Covid and we chose 7:00. Our server was Dana and she took great care of us and couldn't have been more pleasant. You'll need reservations and when you call, tell them you would like to have the deep fried angel hair appetizer. They need advance notice and its fantastic. Holy hell is this place expensive! I mean, I could understand it if the food was out of this world, but this restaurant is dated and stiff. I had the lobster romano on my lone visit to this place, and I must say it was drowned in garlic butter, which overpowers the natural sweetness of the lobster and crab. It didn't need all that garlic butter. I also felt as though I was trapped in a time warp. All the way back to 1946, and not in a nostalgic way, either. They're charging an arm and a leg in a rather small town for dated food. The clientele skews heavily older as well, so I felt even more out of place. One of the very worst experiences I have ever had in dining. My brother and I made my mother cancel our reservations at the country club to go there for New Years dinner. Mind you they are both close to 80 years old. Not only did we wait for 45 minutes just to get seated but then when we were seated I had to get up 4 times to ask for service I have NEVER in my life been treated so poorly by a waitress. We ordered a bottle of white wine and I had to ask her to bring it to the table and once she did she just left it there Did not even keep it cold. My niece who is 4 was starving as we all are right now and I had to again go and ask them to at least bring her some pasta. Terrible! As I am writing this we are waiting for pizza to be delivered. 5 star prices for 3 star service. Food receives 4 stars. Unfortunately, the food prices aren't adjusted for the overall, average experience. A 5 STAR rating involves more than just having good food. It requires an excellent experience from the moment you walk in the door, are greeted, seated and served high quality food with impeccable service. Ordered the 2 best bottles of wine from a very limited wine menu (considering the 5 star reputation). On both occasions, the bottles were opened behind the bar (out of site) then brought to the table without the corks. For the record, bottles of wine are opened 'at the table' and the corks presented to you for examination. The first bottle took 15 minutes to bring to the table and definitely did not taste right even after letting it breath for 10 minutes. There was no aerator on the premises and the glasses were covered with water spots. Not what you would expect from a 5 star restaurant. For the record, I order this label frequently: it did not have the acquired taste with which I am intimately familiar. We had to ask the waitress to bring us the cork. Not what you would expect from a 5 star restaurant. When the cork was presented to us, it was hard, not dry and had no veins; it was perfect. Yet, it was given to us in two halves (clearly 'severed' in two). The waitress said that it 'broke in half' when she opened it. Rather peculiar to say the least. After that, the waitress never once came by to pour our wine. Not what you would expect from a 5 star restaurant. The silverware had water spots and the tines of one fork had hardened food in between them. Not what you would expect from a 5 star restaurant. The sliced, cold Italian bread is served in a cheap wicker basket. It is accompanied by cold, hard butter still wrapped in foil. Not what you would expect from a 5 star restaurant. Rather than having to come back to fill the water glasses, the waitress left two glasses of water for each of us. Not what you would expect from a 5 star restaurant. The decor is a weak attempt to copy the traditional, 5 star Italian restaurants of New York, Chicago and Pittsburgh: not even close. Frankly, one gets the impression that the food is pretty good so the owners aren't concerned about the decor or service. OK, the place has a reputation for being pretty good and the food is. It's time to put some of the 5 star prices back into sprucing up the place and training the staff on how to serve in a 5 star environment. Not being a prude, just don't like being taken for granted. Believe me, this place is not the greatest thing since 'sliced Italian bread. ' Mangia bene. Ciao. read more

Easily deserves a 5-star rating. I'm visiting the area from Alaska and always seek out these unique establishments. I was so impressed with the food that I came back the next evening for a second dinner. The veal was amazing as were the crab and pasta dishes. Having lived in Italy for four years I find it difficult eating at American restaurants claiming to serve Italian style food but this place was spot on. It took me straight back to those memorable trips to family-run Italian trattorias of northern Italy. Moved to the south hills area 3 years ago and have been looking for a good, family run Italian restaurant. Finally found it. The roasted peppers app was great. Also, recommend the Fettuccine and Mafalda apps. If you make it to dessert, try the cheesecake. Aside from the food, the service made the night. We couldn't have had a better experience. Once we had our first glass of wine that all changed. The main dishes are great but for me it is all about the appetizers. The havarti and peppers is to die for. Lump crab...forget about it. This lovely little place is truly a hidden treasure! Reservation only Thursday through Saturday. The bartender/hostess is also the granddaughter of the owner. The drinks are generous and delicious, and the staff is accommodating and attentive. We were seated at our table and enjoyed delicious bread (warm and home baked), home made salad dressing and after meeting the owner were treated to a complementary appetizer, a recipe that was invented by her late husband and tasted like love! All of the food was truly delicious, with a depth of flavor hard to find in a restaurant. I hope that I am able to return soon and often! read more

Honestly, we were not impressed with the food AT ALL. I had Veal Wine and my wife had Steak Dianne. Neither of us thought they were anything spectacular. A glass of wine each, crab hoelzel (which was the only great part) for app and we each had a desert. The bill was astronomical. We'll stick to The Back Porch from now on. read more

Five stars is simply not enough to give to this wonderful establishment. Upon walking into Lucchesi's you are immediately taken aback by the intimate feel of this family run resturaunt. The dining room consisted of a few small tables under candle light. We started out with the roasted red pepper and cheese appetizer. It was delicious, a perfect blend of seasonings. For our main course, I chose the Black Sea Bass, and my boyfriend chose the Lobster Romano. Both entrees were amazing, both piled high with crab meat and bathing in their individual sauces. Hands down, the best Italian food that I have tasted. The wine was also perfectly paired with our meal. As if the cuisine was not already enough to give them five stars, the owner Les and his wife Pauline would come to join us as we finished our meal. Les spoke of the history of the resturaunt and a few other stories of events that had taken place that only made us love it more! The entire staff is family, or friends of the family and you can truly feel that in the environment. We could not have had a better time and we will surely be back again. read more
