The food mediocre at best, but usually sub par fried crap. The pizza is honestly the only thing worth paying for. The King sandwiches are just NOT GOOD. I've tried them numerous times and I have officially accepted this sandwich is overrated in general and just plain sucks. It's bland bland bland no matter what meat you put on it and their Cole slaw is utter trash. All mayo, over shredded cabbage, and no seasoning or texture. read more

King steak is always my go to. I prefer their creamy slaw over Primantis vinegar based. Their Pepperoni pizza bites are the best app! Service is normal fast and efficient. The restaurant has a country feel. read more

I hadn't been here in years! In fact, this was my first time at the new location which isn't even new anymore. This new location has a large bar and ample seating. Plenty of restaurant-style ambience and room for families and large groups. The service is still as good as I remember. Know what the best part is? The food is still amazing and exactly as it's always been. Fresh ingredients make a spectacular sandwich similar (and dare I say better?) to another legendary Pittsburgh sandwich joint. Though Belle Vernon is about 45 minutes from Pittsburgh, it's worth the drive for their food. read more

Ordered to go. Took over hour. Customers that came in after and ordered got their food first. Very disappointed in service. Will not come back and will tell friends not to come either. We spent thousands there. read more

Clean place. food great. People nice friendly and great staff. I would recommend it to anyone you try it out.

Use to love this place at past location been to new location the quality of the chicken king sucks its basically an over priced pre frozen chicken patty on a pizza with hick cut Italian bread. The bread was fresh coleslaw was how I like creamy but meat terrible. I much rather get this version of a sandwich at kodiax down the road I'm I live between both places and kodiax has much better product and atmosphere. read more

The Foster House is known for their "King Sandwich". For those that haven't had it, it is similar to Primanti Bros. The thing is though, in my honest opinion... they put Primanti Bros' to shame. I have never had a better Primanti-style sandwich anywhere when compared to the Foster House.. even at Primanti's. The bread is from the local bakery and is fresh, soft and awesome. The cole slaw is plentiful and great, as well as the other toppings. To put it bluntly....The-- food --is --excellent. Cool note: If you eat in, you get free fries with it, and on Sunday's, they have BOGO for eat in. They have great drink specials, and this is the place to go for a few drinks. The prices are right. read more

Slow service, "cheese fries" are literally frozen fries with a slice of cheese melted on top...beer tastes like soap,

The focus of the Foster House menu is the "King" sandwiches which are supposed to be an approximation of local/regional sandwich purveyor Primanti's - and they fall short. The sandwiches are overwhelmed by the taste of the mayo-heavy coleslaw. Note that restaurant options in this neck of the woods are few and far between - so don't let the full parking lot dupe you into thinking that Foster House will be a great culinary experience. read more

I wish I could review the food here, but unfortunately, my daughter and I were not acknowledged when we entered this restaurant. We eventually just left and found a restaurant who actually values their customers. read more

I was told that I needed to try the food here because it was better than Primanti's. OMG is it!!!!!!!!! 100% better and cheaper! I will be taking all my friends here! I have been here a few more times since my first visit. Food is always good but service is consistently HORRIBLE! Each time, even like today on a busy Football Sunday, there is 1 girl to take care of the whole place. We waited over 20 minutes for somebody to take our drink order then another 20 to get the drinks. With other options nearby I would not suggest coming here if you are in a hurry or on a time restraint. It's now going on an hour since we walked in the door and still no appetizers. Food finally comes out... the "grilled steak salad" is disgusting and not even real steak but shredded steak. Chicken Parm sandwich didn't even have the cheese melted and the jalapeño poppers came with marinara, gross. Stick to the King sandwiches! read more

Our waitress was great and a nice pour on the drinks; however, the food was terrible. Frozen Sysco fries, bread way too thick, 2 thin slices of meat, & the slaw is chopped cabbage in mayo. Did see a salad and pizza come out and those looked good. read more

5 out of 5 for a place that should be on Diners Drive Ins and Dives! Sandwiches are like a Primantis style but the bread and the slaw are better! You get a choice of chicken or fish...think there may be another one but can't remember. Limited seating space and small menu. Sometimes wait for food can be long because of the high number of takeouts they get. read more

Foster House - Menu - Sports Bars Near Me - Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania

This bar is going to be relocating next week . So we decided to stop in one last time before it does . There was a group of 6 and we all tried one of there famous sandwiches. Every one thought they were better then Primanti brothers . On the down side people still smoke inside this bar and it can get a little loud . Looking forward to seeing the new place . read more

Foster House - Sports Bars Near Me - Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania

Foster House Claims to be a sports bar, and even promote Penguins games. Why then do they not have the volume up for any Pittsburgh games. I wouldn't call this a sports bar when all you hear is background music and people talking. In addition, the bartenders and wait staff do not clean the tables or bar. People are still getting Covif. Get with it. read more

Highly recommend this restaurant! I will never go to Primantis after having the King Steak sandwich! The service is great and the price is more than fair! I can't wait to go there again! read more

Full disclosure: This rating is not reflective of any of the King Sandwiches because I have never tried any of them. I am just not a fan of fries and slaw on my sandwich, so I am sorry to all of those who i've already offended. I work with a few people who rave about this place non-stop. I figured it would be pretty good, and I ordered a steak sandwich. I was not impressed with the size. I feel it was a very small sandwich and I was still pretty hungry after finishing it. Even with a side of overpriced hot pepper cheese balls (you get about 5 tiny balls in an order) I still could have had a second sandwich. The taste of the sandwich was not bad...don't get me wrong, I just feel like their portions are lacking on all of the non "King" sandwiches. Not alot to pick from on the menu, either. App selection is good, though...just overpriced for the amount of food you get. Maybe I am just picking the wrong items and maybe I'll suck it up and try and King sandwich next time. read more

New location is nice and smoke free now - yay! But service is awful - went to get a sandwich to take out - sat at bar - was totally ignored while barmaid counted money - looked at us once - kept counting - then waited on two other folks and started chatting - we finally left since we were obviously invisible, she'd never notice anyway Good sandwiches or not we're done read more

So this is my second rating for Foster House. Still a gem but had an awful experience with the bartender/waitress. This isn't the first time we've had her. She's miserable and not a people person. She acts like you're a bother and is oblivious to what's going on around her-like a line of people waiting to pay their bill because they just want to leave. I watched multiple people walk out because there were no seats. If she would have finished off her tables and collected money, there would have been plenty of open seats. Food is still amazing and quick to come out but a bad bartender/waitress will ruin a whole business. If you walk in and see the older woman with long black curly hair, you better plan to stay awhile because she'll get to you when she feels like it. read more

Get better owners they're rude drunks who have no respect for employees or paying customers. Horrible to think and there slaw is just mayo and cabbage nothing special. read more

I was anxious to try the Foster House since it moved. Walked in at around 11:45 for lunch, not one other person was there to eat. Was not greeted for five minutes or more. Very mediocre waitress, when I asked about a kids menu she snarled, we don't have one. The hamburger my grandson ordered looked very tasteless and my other grandson got a small order of fries which was a very small portion. My daughter in law split a sandwich with me which came out while the kids were finishing their meal. My recommendation to the owner is to hire friendly faces and step up with the food. It was just okay. Paper plates, plastic forks, bland food and unfriendly waitresses is not the way to attract customers in a remote location. The cook who brought our sandwich out was the only one to crack a smile. Kudos to her. Won't be back, though. read more

Can't get enough of the King Sandwiches! So delicious. The coleslaw is incredible on its own. Very reasonable prices and decent beer selection. I tried the pizza burger last week and it was phenomenal! Big salads and wings are my go to on Thursday's. read more

It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. The food was garbage. The slutty waitresses just sat there and talked at the bar. They were so rude. Please save your money and don't go here. It was a waste of my money and isn't good at all. The boneless wings don't come in 5 they come in 8. I got 2 and got practically fat shamed by the waitress. I don't suggest you come to this place. If I could give 0 stars I would!!! read more

Best food around period! I'm addicted to the Sausage King sandwiches, but they are all excellent. Great service too! Only issue I've had is the older waitress with long black curly hair. Not much of a people person, slow in service, and oblivious to customers...all other wait staff has been awesome though! read more

If you blink driving past you might miss this gem. Foster House is a bar restaurant seemingly untouched since the early 90s with classic painter murals of Pittsburgh's sports legends. It's even still cash only. What entices us to make the 45 minute drive is their collection of "King" sandwiches, which is essentially a Primanti's sandwich made with love in your grandmother's kitchen. Personally, I've tried the others, but my favorite is the King Cap. The bread is pillow soft. The meat is always cooked just right, never dry. They make this sandwich their own by subbing crinkle-cut steak fries and creamy cole slaw which is perfectly accompanied with the Louisiana Hot Sauce you'll find on the table. read more

King cappicola is our favorite! The bread, cole slaw and fries used at the Foster House make this sandwich stand alone and the best. We live in (PROFILE CITY NAME), but stop here for our favorite sandwich and cheap beer whenever in town. read more

Foster House - King Fish Sandwich. Yum! - Sports Bars Near Me - Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania

Our waitress only visited us 4 times in the span of 2 hours, the food was mediocre (kinda like school lunch), and there was no ac.

My husband and I are both active duty military visiting his parents from Virginia Beach. My husband wanted to go have lunch and a beer with his buddy. The FEDERAL LAW states an individual with an expired state driver's license is legally allowed to keep and obtain that expired license AS LONG AS they're active duty military with a valid and current military ID. Foster House owner refused to serve my husband who just got back from overseas. Clearly no respect or knowledge to even WANT to accommodate their customers. They accused him of lying about being in the military, and accused him of having a fake license. Oh and one last thing, their cole slaw on their king cap's is warm. Everyone who knows what cole slaw is made of, knows it's required to be a fridge. Really Foho? You TRYIN to kill your customers with food poisoning? read more

This is a great local bar that has the Pittsburgh style sandwiches that will put primantis to absolute shame. They are starting to ruin a great thing though by quitting the Sunday bogo. I'm a huge fan of the king chicken which is starting to actually get worse because of the quality of chicken they have been using. It keeps getting thinner and smaller but somehow the prices keep rising. read more

Don't go there on wing night unless you have about 3 hours to waste..ordered wings at 652 and they came out at 946.. they may only be $.25 but it's ridiculous how long it takes. First and last time to the new Foster house. Honestly wasn't worth the ATM fee I had to pay to get cash out for this "cash only" establishment. Very under staffed on a busy "promo" night.. wings for $.25 We sat at the bar and ordered our wings at 8:05pm and didn't get them until 9:23pm. The waitress did warn us of a wait but nearly an hour and a half for 24 wings seems excessive, with only one sauce choice?? Hot sauce is all they offer. Sorry to anyone else who doesn't prefer to have their insides burned out. We waited another 40 mins after finishing for anyone to give us a check. The group beside us flagged down the bartender who had been servicing our end of the bar only to be told "I'm off, get one of the other girls". Needless to say, we won't be going back there. read more

We have tried the new foster house on 3 occasions. I definitely should have listened to my boyfriend and never went back after the first visit. My first time there was for lunch with my mother on a Monday in July. The restaurant was not at all crowded but we waited for quite some time before even being asked about a beverage while we watched the older bartender stand behind the bar applying makeup, putting on jewelry and not even looking our way. My boyfriend and I decided to give it a SECOND chance for a Saturday night quick meal and a few beers in November. Again... HORRIBLE service and sub par overpriced food. My boyfriend actually asked to speak to the manager. We were told there was no manager but the owners happened to be there drinking. We asked to speak to one of them and watched our server go speak to them. The woman owner gave a snide glance our way and we waited and waited to speak to them but they never approached us so we left. It seemed their drinks were much more important to them than their patrons Our third and final straw was last night for wing night. I'm not sure who the owners of this place are but they must not enjoy making money because it seems they could care less about their customers! We got there around 6:45 and we're told the owners made a new rule that no wing orders can be taken before 7 so we were free to order drinks but would have to wait our turn at 7 to put our order in and there was already at least 10 people waiting before us to put them in too. Now I understand wing night starts at a certain time but to be told we can't even order was ridiculous! My boyfriend ordered a bucket of bottles of Coors light. I, being pregnant, ordered a water and was told I could not order wings unless I ordered at least a soda. When I asked why I was told the owners consider wing night a "courtesy' to their guests and have continued to change the rules every week on the way wings could be ordered and served to try to maximize the amount of money they can make. Now of course all businesses need to make money but the owners of this establishment act as if they are serving wings dipped in gold! As I said, I don't personally know the Foster house owners but after talking to several people since my visit, it is my understanding that they are not very well liked because of their uppity attitude, poor ways they speak to their employees and how they feel introducing themselves to their customers is beneath them. I will never go back and I will suggest the same to every one I can. These ppl seem to have a snobby attitude and heads that grew when their restaurant size did. I don't forsee the amount of patrons growing the way they are going. We ended up across the street where they were also having wing night and were much more warmly greeted, the owner made rounds checking on the customers and their wing selection was huge. All in all, avoid the Foster house at all cost! I would have definitely chosen zero stars if it were an option. read more

Returned to my favorite stomping ground in BV and couldn't have been more disappointed! I had the now famous King Burger (looks nothing like the online photos) and it was absolutely horrible. Dry, over-cooked, small and (I kid you not) there was ONE French-fry on my burger... I Even took a pic of it with my phone I was so disappointed. The place was run-down and filthy. The customers all seemed like (and acted like) underage drunks. Hate to say it but I won't be returning to this once popular hang-out. Why can't people leave well-enough alone?
