There's nothing "Monster" about this small Pho. Let's dive right into this. If this place weren't so hip with its robotic waiters, weird plush toys, beaded curtains, and hipster vibes...if bet people would think twice about coming here. At least for the food to go. So my bbq beef rice plate was hella small with like 6 small pieces of beef, one scoop of rice, one fried egg for $23!!! Then to add the eggroll was another break the bank addition. The beef pho large for $17 was sooo small. Seriously skimpy. The coffee flan was horrible. It tasted like the $1 flan you'd get at a Mexican grocery store (I don't even think it had eggs in it) because it tasted like plastic and jiggled like plastic. My daughter brought me here for Mother's Day. We enjoyed everything that we ordered. Tee is the owner and was the one that took our order and recommended their specialty dishes and most popular food items. Also, the staff were all so super nice and their service was excellent. Everything tasted so good and the portions were huge. Although the place isn't all that big I just enjoyed the theme and all the interior pieces. On the back wall he showcased photos of his family, some exterior/interior shots of his restaurants. The place is very clean as well and the ambience is very laid back and just all around good vibes. What made it even more special was that we were able to chat a bit with Tee and he told us all about how he started his business and the highs and lows of it and the challenges he faced during the pandemic. Such a great guy that gave credit to his mom for making this dream of his happen and not without its struggles but through his love, hard work, perseverance and dedication that he now is reaping the rewards of the success through his many devoted monster pho food lover followers. I took my (Vietnamese) parents here & they said the pho here was better than most places in San Jose. Not going to lie, it's more on the pricier side for pho but the portions are worth it and shareable. Service was wonderful. The owner (Tee) and staff were very helpful and hospitable. It's so cool to see the robots delivering the food to the table. They have merch, skittles machine, and popcorn machine. Lots of photo ops too. Items I would order again: imperial rolls (pork & shrimp) -- great filling and crispy! bánh xèo -- a classic and I can't believe this was an appetizer!! It's huge!! So good. monster pho combo -- holy moly the broth was so dang flavorful. Lots of meat and noodles. Bánh mì (beef and pork) had lots of filling and we got to mix match protein. I liked the beef one more. I just wished they used pate and Vietnamese mayo. Perhaps introducing the Vietnamese ham (cha)? I tried the vermicelli combo (bun thit nuong) and rice combo (com tam). I would stick to the pho cause the shrimp still had the shell and was slightly overcooked. Not a fan of the pork chops but that's just my preference. All the drinks I tried were a solid choice. Thai iced tea, vietnamese coffee (cold), and green monster iced tea. My dad's Vietnamese coffee was strong. As soon as I walked in, the smell of a perfectly simmered pho broth filled the air, and I knew it was going to be good. You are greeted by a warm smile, and everyone is kind, in a good mood, willing to help, and extremely kind. I ordered the monster for combo and it was absolutely amazing! The broth was perfect, and all the meats, fresh and excellently prepared. Also had the pleasure of meeting one of their VIP customers, Oliver, who has been coming there since he was three years old. He's now six. A gentleman, whom I believe to be the owner, kindly greeted him and thanked him for his loyalty. To be honest, everyone feels like a VIP at Monster Pho. I visited on a Thursday and there happened to be a $10 Thursday special for specific pho. This is a deal for the month of February! Upon arrival I was greeted warmly. Throughout my time here, each employee who interacted with me was very polite and attentive. The restaurant is clean and filled with fun decor. There was also good music playing. I also of course enjoyed my pho and overall experience here. My food was flavorful and I did not have to wait too long for anything. I love that this establishment is accessible by bus as it is right next to a bus stop. Additionally, Monster Pho is always doing things to give back to the community from toy drives and so on. Last time I left a 3 star review and the only redeeming feature was the coffee flan but not anymore. My fiance decided to order from here since the pho restaurant closest to us isn't open on Sundays. I definitely will not be trying this restaurant for a third time. Again, the broth and noodle is mediocre for $16/bowl. The noodles were constantly breaking apart and the broth wasn't aromatic. The texture of the beef balls weren't good. The coffee flan is $7 and it ltrly came in a dipping size container. A soy sauce container. For $7. Are you kidding me? New location on Manila Avenue and 40th Street! In a larger, longer more cool atmosphere! We came here after our yoga class downtown and decided to give the new location a try. Parking is a breeze as we came on a Wednesday night after 6 pm. The restaurant also has outdoor dining as well and the inside is very fun, with Monster Pho merchandise for purchase, two robot waiters to serve food, a couple of arcade games and a photo booth. The second Monster Pho location has closed and they opened a takeout version in San Francisco. We ordered the Monster Pho combination vermicelli and Monster Pho rice combo, both of which come with lots of meat: beef, pork, shrimp and chicken. The rice version comes with soup and a fried egg on top of the rice and the vermicelli version comes with a fried imperial roll. The portions are hearty and food tasty! We luckily got to try their pho suon bo (24hr beef bone soup w/ giant beef short rib) which is only available on weekends until they're sold out! If it's available, you MUST snag one! We arrived around 5:45pm on a Saturday for an early dinner and there was no wait! It was my first time visiting this place, but the cute "monster" logo and the name of the restaurant drew me into this place. Since there was no wait, that meant we were quickly seated and got our menu and water right away! We ordered the Imperial Rolls for our appetizer, Beef Pho with Brisket, Rare Steak, and Meatballs and also Monster Rice Combo for our entrees, 2 drinks which are the Ginger Lemonade and the Mint Passionade. We also decided to get a dessert at the end which was the Pandan Leaf Coconut Waffle with Icecream. All the food quickly arrived from the robots they have here. My robot's name was "Octane" and I found it cool how they use a robot to serve food here. Ok, now about the food quality! For the Imperial Rolls, you get to choose between the Pork & Shrimp option or the Vegetarian option. I chose the Pork & Shrimp option and I loved how stuffed it was without feeling dry. The meat in my pho was very tender and they gave a lot! I also tried the meats in the Monster Rice Combo plate and that was good too. I liked how the meats on that combo plate was well seasoned and tasted like it was grilled. The drinks we got were very refreshing was like a slightly fizzy lemonade which was a nice surprise to me. Then we ended the meal with a Pandan Leaf Coconut Waffle with Icecream since I always like to make room for dessert after a meal. The waffle was soft and reminded me of a moist mochi waffle, without being too sweet which is my favorite type of dessert! I'd recommend this place! The employees here are nice and give great customer service. While I was eating, I noticed the employees would walk around the store and talk to their customers, what they thought of the food, and if they needed anything. I just found that to be very nice of them. Also, if you have leftovers and need a box, the employees will help you pack your leftovers too! Love the chicken pho. Broth is amazing and flavorful. The varnish is always fresh and plentiful. Their wings are the bomb. The grilled mix with vermicelli is so much food! My son loves that one. Everything has always been great. They grow some of their own vegetables and during the pandemic they really took care of healthcare workers and the elderly. I have never had a bad experience here. First, the service is top notch. I always feel welcome. Each time I come here, they always do some small token of appreciation. Tonight, I ordered for takeout, but ordered a beer while I waited. After a few sips I mentioned how much I enjoyed their house beer, and he grabbed it and topped it off again. The food is great too. Popped in for Sunday lunch with a friend. The restaurant was very spacious and clean, and there was an abundance of green monster paraphernalia everywhere. I was very curious about the service, I saw the robots and was unsure if they would be assisting us or actual people. But I quickly learned that you ordered through the QR code and to my surprise the people actually brought our food. We started with shrimp spring rolls which were tasty but I felt like something was missing. I had the grilled chicken vermicelli and my friend had the chicken pho.
