    Fish & Chips

We were hungry and saw this place so figured Why Not? Overall it was exactly what we expected. The fish & chips, clam strips, fries and clam chowder all were fine. Nothing homemade here. No hand breaded or dipped fish. No hand cut fries. Everything was standard faire but I wasn't expecting to be amazed. Decor is simple. The girl who took out order was very friendly and probably to highlight of our visit. While they took my name she delivered it to our table and even followed up to see how everything was. She took it from a 3 to a 4

I had been wanting to try Monroe Fish and Chips since moving to the area, and I'm so glad I finally did this past summer. Our group placed a large to-go order and brought it home to enjoy. My Shrimp Basket was delicious and came with a generous serving of crinkle-cut fries. We also got a few sides of the Mac & Cheese to try--while some in our group found it a bit dry, I still really enjoyed it. Overall, this spot feels like a Monroe staple, and we'll definitely be back again this summer!

To start off, I am not a fish person, my kids and mother in law who opted to come here are. Upon entering this fine establishment you will notice very few spots to sit inside. The lady who helped us was super friendly and happy to help with any questions we had. When placing my order the one thing that caught my eye was the convenience fee they charge for all debit and credit charges. So if you do plan to visit I suggest bringing cash. If you plan to take your order the sign says 5% fee for bio friendly packaging. Often these charges upset me but luckily I had brought cash with me today snd we were planning to dine in. One of my boys ordered a kids fish and chips and he devoured it saying it was really good. My mother in law ordered a combo of fish and chips along with clam strips. To which was very much so to her satisfaction, she says she was very happy we visited this place. My other son who normally orders fish for some odd reason ordered chicken strips and chips kids meal, to which he says it was good. I on the other hand along with my wife wasn't all that hungry so we split a chicken strip and chips basket. I will tell you, often I come to a place like this and order chicken strips and they taste fishy, NOT here they had no hint of fish taste to my surprise. While my wife and I both agree more flavor on the chicken strips would of been nice It was also nice to enjoy chicken strips at a fish restaurant that did not taste fishy. Overall we would visit here again as long as we 1) have cash on hand, 2) can eat in the restaurant

10/10 everytime! Freshly made and great staff, don't miss out on this great place!

I come here at least 1-2 times a month and I live 25-30 min away, it is that good you won't regret ordering here highly recommended

Stopped in for a shrimp and fish combo today. Delish.... We loved it. Fast friendly service like no other.

My carry-out experience tonight was great. I was in and out. Got the combo basket with two pieces of cod and shrimp, lots of crinkle cut fries, cole slaw, lemon wedge, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce for $16.98. Glad the fish was very moist. Even though it was not the classic style beer batter and fresh cut fries like places on the coast, it was still delicious and I ate everything. The clam chowder was a small size cup for $6.50 it comes in one size. It was very creamy and yummy with a decent amount of potatoes and clams. I appreciated how they packaged it separately in a brown paper bag. It was a decent weekday dinner so I didn't have to cook. Would come again and get the same thing or try their fish tacos. Just a small fish and chips place with a simple menu for a good take out lunch or dinner. Cute little dining area with several tables. The service was courteous and prompt and they offer a 15% coupon for your next visit.

Nice hidden gem in Monroe! If you like fish & chips, give them a try. *dear yelp, we don't have time for long reviews, we just want to know if we'll get food poisoning or not. **yelp wants longer reviews... Ain't nobody got time for that! So here are a couple of sentences to please the people of yelp who think that people need to keep reading reviews instead of getting on with their lives. This place is great. I love how chill it is on the inside! I ordered take out and was super easy and I only had to wait for like 10 minutes. The fish is so good! Soft and crispy! Also try the clam chowder!

Great fish & chips. The fries are particularly delicious. Nice family owned little place.

Hearty size platter of tasty fish and chips in a cute and cozy dining area. I also recommend the clam chowder. Great for a gray fall day.

Good fresh fish kinda unimpressed but not bad. We were hoping for a thicker fish and fluffy batter.

As I was chilling and eating an impromptu breakfast I was looking at the strip mall style food area and Taqueria El Rey caught my eye. I love tacos. And they had the meat I almost judge very taqueria on heavily: Tripas. So I was still before opening time so I just let my quick breakfast marinate and digest and hung out in the parking lot for a bit. And as it hit closer to opening time I was a little nervous cuz I had yet to see any movement inside but sure enough close to five minutes before opening I saw a lady move around and then turned the sign on and opened the door. It was early but I had waited long enough lol. I got out and as solan as she turned around for the counter I was ready. I ordered two tripas, carne asada, carnitas and a buche. Water and a can of coke to wash it down with. It came with a side of chips and salad which was alright. The salsa was nothing special but I finished it with some chips left over. When the tacos came you could feel they just left the heat which is always a good sign. I doused them in a little salt and lime and I used the verse sauce. They hit the spot. The tripas had a good sheen of fat and gristle but weren't crispy like I really wanted but they sufficed. The carnitas were ok. Same it's the buche and asada. As hard as it is to find tripas and then have the tripas be stellar it's almost as hard to find good asada these days but nonetheless it was a good meal. The counter person was the same waitress. She was very nice and attentive enough. I finished my food and gave my customary thank you and have great day and she have the same sentiment of welcome and you too. If you're I town and feeling tacos give Taqueria El Rey a try.

I went with the machaca (tender shredded beef with eggs), and it was incredible, super tender, rich, and packed with flavor. We also shared the garlic parm wings, which were crispy and addictive, and the chips & guac were fresh and done right. Our kid had a quesadilla and loved it. One of the coolest touches was the kids menu! it's interactive and even teaches them how to count to 10 in Spanish, which is such a fun and thoughtful detail. Great food, welcoming vibe, and an awesome brunch experience all around. We'll definitely be back!

Monroe, Washington, April 2026…read more This colorful building is located on the main street in downtown Monroe. The minute you walk in you are greeted immediately. An older gentleman and a younger guy were quick to tell us we could sit wherever we wanted as it was a Sunday evening. Booths line the wall and there are about four tables in the middle of the restaurant. Very small, but very colorful and extremely friendly staff. We were quickly asked for a drink order and they brought chips and salsa. The chips were a perfect thin yet crunchy texture. The salsa was very flavorful. It had chunks of onions and lots of cilantro. However, I wish the salsa was spicier. We both ordered chicken and beef enchiladas à la crema. The presentation was nice and I'm so glad there was no lettuce decorating my plate. My whole beans came in a little tortilla cup but the rice lacked flavor. It taste more like a puréed risotto. The enchiladas were covered in the cream sauce that also had cheese. There was no flavor to the cream sauce and the chicken was extremely dry. I liked the flavor of the whole beans. They don't give you a full basket of chips when you sit down. So we asked for more as they were delicious. But then we received only a quarter of a basket this second time. They don't post prices of the soda or the drinks. When we inquired to see a bar menu, they said they had none that we could order anything we want. We asked the price of a particular drink and he said don't worry. When I receive my bill, my non alcoholic bottle of Heineken was $7.25. I think that is outrageous for a nonalcoholic beer. I will give this place three stars because the chicken was tough and dry. The cream sauce was boring and the salsa needs spice.

I place my order, get my drink, and then I'm asked to pull around and park. Now, keep in mind, there's absolutely no one behind me and no one inside. But hey, who needs logic when you can follow a rule for the sake of it? I politely say no a couple of times, because, really, what's the point? And then, in an incredible twist, the guy decides that since I won't move, he's just going to refuse service altogether. But instead of just giving me the food that's ready, he hands me a $20 bill and tells me to keep the change while his coworker is literally bringing the bag of food to the window. So, instead of using a bit of common sense and handing me my order, I get a refund and a baffling experience. If the owner ever wonders why business is slow, maybe start with the fact that turning away the only customer for no logical reason might not be the best approach. Just a friendly suggestion!
