Waiter seemed curt and I felt a bit rushed. Inside is beautiful and I saw several patrons sitting at the bar and enjoy some seafood and drinks. - Bread and Butter (5/5): free bread for the table- my favorite part of this meal! Perfectly salted butter, and the taste reminded me of sourdough but the texture of the bread itself was like a very crispy crunchy outer layer over a martin's potato roll. - The Grand (3/5): I learned that I am definitely not a shellfish person.. so keep in mind of my biased take! I wish the waiter explained what came on our plate, but he quickly scooted away. The scallops were my favorite. Nice and mild and sweet flavor. The grand also came with 6 sauces to pair. Wasn't sure which sauce went best with which, but doesn't hurt to try? shell on shrimp and lobster claw were the second and third bests in my opinion. - Grilled Black-eyed Perch (4/5): got a smaller 1.2 lb fish. Can get it grilled and fried. Fried is ~$4 more. This fish was around 38-39/lb at the time of writing. Flavors were so great! Not a bony fish at all and didn't have to really pick at it. A tad dry in certain parts, but again, nice salty, zesty from the lemon and herbaceous. This place is definitely on the $$$ side, so can see ppl coming here for special occasions.
We came in for our anniversary and had a seafood tower w/ oysters, clams, scallops served w/ a delicious pistachio citrus pesto, jumbo wild brown shrimp, mussels, 1/2 lobster, and we added a 1/2 wild Dungeness crab. Wow. Everything was delicious and fresh. They served several sauces with it, but our favorite was the jalapeno vinaigrette they served w/ it. The sourdough bread was warm and delicious, too. They also decorated our table with red rose petals and brought us a warm cookie w/ ice cream for our anniversary, which was a very sweet touch. Really wonderful lunch. PS: you can bring in one bottle of wine for no corkage, which we did.
This is a great spot for dinner! We came with reservations and were seated right away. Our server was excellent and gave really good recommendations, which was especially helpful since I was with people from out of town. We started off with the oysters, and they were amazing. I loved the variety of sauces and the staff's help in picking exactly what we wanted. We paired them with different types of drinks that complemented the flavors very well. For our entrées, we all ordered the Sea Bass given the high remarks we had heard, and it did not disappoint at all. It was delicious and definitely worth the price point. The space is overall excellent with a variety of seating, and the location right in Bellevue Square is perfect. Good food and great vibes!
The food was solid overall. The steak, cooked medium rare, was actually better than the ribeye I had at STK, which I didn't expect from a seafood spot. The clam chowder was also excellent, possibly even better than what I've had at Pike Place. Dessert wasn't a highlight, but everything else delivered. Service was great, and the ambiance is nice and comfortable. It's not a personal favorite I'd go out of my way for, but I'd happily come back if someone suggested it.
Take my review with a grain a salt. I am not big on sea food and this time I tried a lot of things which was my first time. But first let's talk about ambience. Absolutely aesthetic - almost a piece of art. So well done, very beautifully done marine theme all around. Our server was amazing too - very patient and explained the cusines and recommendations with very good knowledge. Having said that - food ! I tried the lobster with eel sauce sushi and it was amazing. It was my first time trying out Octopus - to be honest I don't know how I felt about it. Not my favourite. The black cod was amazing but the accompanying noodles and broth was about okayish. Maybe it is supposed to taste a bit bland but it wasn't that flavourful. On the other hand the Chillean Sea Bass was exquisite and the addition of gnocchi on the side was very creative from the cook - appreciated the fine dining experience here. And yep the place is pricey :)
5 star appetizers, 3 star entrees. Highlights: The Appetizers. Calamari and mussels dishes were large and worth the price. The breading on the calamari was light and crispy, loved the sauces it came with. The sauce with the mussels had a spicy kick to it and the bacon bits were addicting. Starting the dinner off with bread rolls. They were soft, but the bits of salt sprinkled on just the top just made the top of the bread SO salty. This was the same pattern I found with my salmon and risotto. The salmon was cooked perfectly but the meat of the salmon was bland and the skin was SO salty. There was a lack of balance. Paired with the risotto, it was rich and creamy, just wish there was something acidic in the dish to cleanse my palate. The Mahi Mahi was also overly salty. Service was really nice, but felt a little inattentive at times? Missed one of our orders, not coming around to refill water. Didn't ask if we were done with plates before taking them away. Personally, Water Grill has a relaxing ambience to come have drinks and appetizers. But I wouldn't spend my money on the entrees here.
As good as I remembered (from when I visited the LA location). Reservations were easy to get. I made dinner reservations on the same day. Beautiful ambiance, excellent servers. Food was absolutely fantastic. Complimentary warm bread. I got the Chilean sea bass and it was so delicious. The restaurant is kid friendly. High chairs available. Tables are a bit small so for our party of 7 we had to play Tetris with all the food we ordered. I would absolutely come back. It looked like people were also having fun at the bar.
What a great restaurant downtown Bellevue. The food is amazing and always fresh. You can tell the staff has service experience and are able to make your dining experience a positive one. Not one shell in my shucked oysters...SOLD!!! A great Shucker will win me over every time! Worth leaving the mall and going across the street for
TLDR: Solid upscale American dining experience, great location right next to Bellevue Square Mall. We found that both the drinks and appetizers outshined the entrees Location: Prime location in Lincoln center right next to Bellevue square mall. Lots of underground parking available. The front entrance is on the outside/accessible via sidewalk but there is a side door for those coming straight from the mall Food: For appetizers we had the calamari and the mussels and for entrees we had the salmon and mahi mahi. As many other reviews mention, the calamari was amazing and our favorite item across everything we had. The appetizers in general were both outstanding and the entrees were good but not spectacular. We both wished our fish entrees had a bit of acidity/freshness to balance out the salt. Drinks: I had the maritime mule and thought it was great. I find most mules overly sweet but this one had the right balance of flavors to me. Price: Overall good value for the cuisine, quality, location, and ambiance. We spent about $500 after tax + tip for 6 people. Appetizers are about $20-25, drinks $20, and entrees $40-60 depending on what you order Service/Ambiance: The restaurant has a great ambiance and decorations that make it both lively but also intimate. The service was also strong, the staff was friendly and answered all of our questions and were proactive in giving us new settings. There were a few times where water ran short and it took a while to refill, but that's not a huge issue (it was also a busy Friday night). Service also ended with hot towels which was very refreshing!
So we sort of were just trying to find something and stumbled on our favorite restaurant from Santa Monica! We had no idea this was a chain and wow they out did themselves in WA also! Holy cow, the fish and chips were an insanely large size and the salmon dish I got was to die for! I asked for the skin on the salmon to be crispy and the kitchen delivered with the request! If you have the opportunity to eat here, try it out. We have come to this chain twice and have been blown away both times.
The Wagu steak flight was awesome. The rib eye, NY strip, and filet were all cooked perfectly and tender. The sea bass with butternut squash gnocchi was a hit too. The Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon paired nicely with the steak, and with our grilled octopus. The maple cheesecake was ok, not a favorite as it was to sweet. The staff were friendly and accommodating as I asked for salt free butter and they also made the rest of our meal low sodium, in fact, the grilled octopus with out salt tasted a lot better than with salt.
I wanted to seafood for my birthday dinner and picked Water Grill. It's a great place and we had a wonderful dinner. We started with Free Spirited & Lincoln Square to drink and Crisp Calamari. We enjoyed our drinks. The complimentary bread was warm and good. Crispy calamari was great, we loved the chili sauce with it, complimented the calamari well. We then got Live Wild Washington Dungeness Crab, Char-Grilled Wild Massachusetts Black Sea Bass, and Roasted Butternut Squash. I loved the Dungeness Crab, fresh with a lot of meat. I spent a good amount of time eating it. The Char-Grilled Wild Massachusetts Black Sea Bass was great too, we loved the flavor of it. Roasted Butternut Squash was a great side to both our dishes. We finished our meal with Caramel Bread Pudding. Delicious caramely, loved the ice cream. A great end to a great meal.
Great place to get some seafood in Bellevue. Lobster roll: 5/5: very flavorful and great quality and texture to both bread and lobster. Fries were good too. Bread: 5/5: good, love the sourdough and butter. Soft shell crab: 3/5: mostly batter, no flavor. Tasted like tempura crab than anything else. I was very disappointed. Calimari: 4/5: good quality Calimari, good breading and batter, great sauces too Clam chowder: 4/4, good flavor but like Duke's clam chowder more. Cookie: 4/5, good presentation, cookie tasted like a cookie, was warm and hot and not too sweet. Would I come back? Probably not.

Wow!! We had an amazing date night experience here last night. Our server provided the best service we've had in a long time. She really stood out--so helpful on menu options (she was very knowledgeable), attentive, proactive, and all around wonderful!! We had oysters, shrimp cocktail, wedge salad, sea bass and black cod. Both fish dishes were excellent in preservation, freshness, flavor and preparation. Cocktails were really good too. Nice and refreshing. The sourdough bread service is complimentary and decision with the salted butter. We noticed several families here with their young kids so we checked out the kids menu--great kids menu with fish options on it! The restaurant ambiance is fun and beautiful. Saddle up with a leather bar seat where the service is better and the view of shucking is fine. Peyton & Ben are reporting to a Lady GM, doing the good work day & night. There are 6 locations stretching down to San Diego, over to Denver serving fresh catches from Washington and others flown in within 1-2 days. When traveling coastal, I'm delighted by the variety of options including Whole Fish (BIG CATCH on the wall!), pick-your-own crustacean (from the tank) or shellfish (Raw Bar), Prime & Wagyu Gold steaks too. I love a Louie & had mine with crab - a generous softball-size portion of large local Washington Dungeness lump meat in a deconstructed salad (or self-made lettuce wraps) - garden-fresh butter lettuce base, pickled purple onion (is that ACV?), avocado & slab griddled bacon (salt/texture) with a thick Thousand Island dressing. Deviled Eggs on the side have a silky smooth filling, garlic & paprika rather than the usual tartness of relish. Did I mention the bathroom smells like MNY?! read more

Lovely atmosphere and service for a cool out-of-town date night. I thought I had to dress up, but turns out my shacket and a T-shirt worked just fine. Also, free parking on the weekdays at the mall close by is perfect! Avoid the awkwardness of asking for validation. For the oyster I had - so fresh and hit the spot! For both of the fish entrees, so flavorful! The way how the chef could make everything in the dishes complimenting each other so well and still let the fish be the star of the dish is next level! If I'm ever in Bellevue again, I'll definitely go back. As a tourist, I felt safe in the area at 10pm walking back to my car. read more
FULL SEAFOOD RAW BAR in an elegant restaurant and bar setting. This place is nice enough to dress up for with a date! The tables and settings are beautiful. The service is excellent. Our table service server was friendly, attentive and prompt!! This is one of my favorite restaurants both here in Seattle and in Santa Monica California. The one in Seattle is virtually identical. But without the ocean view. Full bar featuring any sort of drink, local and popular craft beers and a full seafood raw bar featuring multiple types of oysters, crab, lobster, sushi, and, my favorite, raw clams on the half shell!. Which is rare to find on the West Coast. No idea why this is, it's not like we don't have clams out here. On the East coast you can get them at almost any seafood restaurant. Go figure. Of course, I had a full dozen of the raw Littleneck Clams. It came with cocktail sauce and I asked for some of the wine vinegar sauce they use for the oysters. My wife had a lobster roll which she said was very good it also came with perfectly fried french fries! Crisp on the outside and soft and hot on the inside. We also got one of the Sushi rolls. The Trojan Roll witch was a delicious salmon concoction with caviar on top in a delectable sauce. You won't go wrong here and this place is definitely date worthy! This will most likely be my last review for 2025. I hope to return to the Elite Squad in 2026. So until then, I'm wishing both Seattle CMs Lauren S, Alexa D. and ALL my Yelp friends and followers the very best for the new year! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! WOOOOOW! This place is absolutely amazing... Jesse was our server and HANDS down, this is our new favorite place. We like to go out to dinner for Thanksgiving and Water Grill had a traditional turkey dinner option, as well as the regular menu. Which was nice because 3 of us got the traditional turkey dinner and my daughter got the sushi and OMG was it good. We also had the amazing bread pudding and it was such a nice environment, like they were busy but you were actually able to hear each other talk. So that made it super relaxing. Very impressed on our first time to Water Grill and we will definitely be back. Oh, and the bathrooms are very clean and classy! read more

The food at The Water Grill continues to be excellent, but this visit was significantly impacted by a very poor interaction with management. Nicole's handling of the situation was unprofessional, dismissive, and completely lacked basic hospitality. The way she spoke to our table was rude and unnecessary, and it immediately shifted the tone of the evening. For a restaurant of this caliber, that kind of management behavior is unacceptable and left a lasting negative impression. That said, the food itself remains strong. The seafood tower was fresh and beautifully done. The spiny lobster was excellent, the steak was cooked perfectly, compliments to the chef, and the calamari was great. The sundae and key lime pie were also delicious and a solid way to end the meal. This used to be our regular Friday spot, and I was planning to book the private room here for a birthday celebration. After my experience with Nicole, I will not be moving forward with that, and we will now be finding a new Friday restaurant. The Water Grill clearly has talented chefs and a strong menu, but management interactions matter. One poor encounter can undo years of loyalty, and unfortunately, that is exactly what happened here. read more

It was our first time here. Very nice atmosphere, not too loud, classy but not uncomfortable. The staff was fast and professional but relaxing. Food and wine pairing was all quite wonderful, sea bass cooked to perfection as well as the tenderloin. Oysters were clean and superb! Clam chowder had one bite that was off otherwise solid. Desserts were absolutely delightful. Vday pricing was a bit high but otherwise acceptable. I will keep this place in mind for nice seafood forward outings with larger groups or for special occasions. read more

After a long day of shopping I wanted something good to eat and Water Grill didn't disappoint. The ambiance was so relaxing and I really appreciate the delicate intimacy of the overall restaurant. I tried the half dozen oyster sampler which was truly delicious. My wife had the mussels and omg that sauce was spectacular! As an entree I had the scallops that were so savory and the sauce pairing with that was amazing as well. I will be back to try the soft shell crab for sure. Our server was very attentive and recommend great pairings and flavor profile that matched what I was looking for. read more
We visited on Saturday evening with a party of 7 adults and 4 children, for dinner, and it was an excellent experience. We arrived and only had to wait a few minutes for our reserved table. The waitress arrived, cleared several wine glasses and place settings for the kids and took our drink orders. Their margaritas are nice and strong. We started with appetizers; Mussels, Hamachi Nachos, and The King Shellfish Platter. The platter was ginormous, it took all of us a concerted effort to finish this seafood feast. From there we went with entrees; Sea Bass, Dungeness Crab, Spiny Lobster, NY Strip, Filet Mignon, Ribeye and kids meals. All were well prepared, presented, and delicious. For dessert we had a couple Pot De Creme, Key Lime Pie and ice cream for the kids. Their Espresso Martini was a nice night cap. The service was outstanding. Megan kept everything in order. She was friendly, prompt, and professional dealing with a large party. She deserves a raise! Overall, a great place for seafood and bring your wallet, it is pricey. read more
We came here for the raw bar. We enjoyed trying the different oysters, scallops, clams, and octopus. The service was great. Our server gave us a free cookie with ice cream on top for our anniversary, which was very nice of him. It's pretty quiet during lunch time on the weekdays. I'm sure the atmosphere changes more towards dinner time. read more

Unlike typical shopping center restaurants, Water Grill offers exceptionally fresh seafood and drinks at reasonable prices. The service was outstanding, and the interior design, complemented by high-quality Italian chairs, creates a cozy space perfect for parties or personal enjoyment. Despite having a reservation, my friend and I chose to sit at the bar because a particularly cute and cozy corner caught our attention. While all the appetizers looked tempting, we decided to try several of them, including the signature octopus, Oysters Rockefeller, Manila clams, and a half-dozen oyster platter. We skipped entrées this time to focus on the starters. The octopus transported me back to southern Europe with its perfect texture and flavor, though a small part at the tip of the leg was burnt. The Oysters Rockefeller were generously filled and paired with fresh, plump oysters, not the kind where toppings mask subpar quality. The fresh oyster platter, mostly featuring oysters from Washington, was also excellent, plump, fresh, and served with four sauces and lemon. The Manila clams were well-cooked and fresh, with a sauce that wasn't overly salty. However, I would have preferred a less sticky consistency for the sauce and better bread as a side. It took some time to finish the plate, lots of shells, and the dish became a bit greasy as it cooled. Our servers, Nas and Jessica, were patient, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Came by a Post-Holiday Family Dinner. Had a phenomenal first time experience. Service was wonderful and swift! The Ambiance was a little loud, but expected especially considering that it was a Friday Night in the Post-Holiday Period. Dinner was very lovely. Had the Calimari and Crab Cake for the Appetizer, King Salmon for the Main Course, a Bellevue Way to accompany and for Dessert, the Warm Almond Cake AND the Caramel Bread Pudding to finish off the meal. Ambience 10/10! Dimly lit with leather chairs and wood. Attention to detail...even the napkins in the bathroom were thick and absorbant! We were sat in the window but in the corner so it felt private. We could people watch as we ate which was fun. Our waiter was knowledgable and explained the raw bar to us and gave us recommendations. Normally I love to start my seafood meals with fried calamari but we had that the last time we went out so we opted for the sea urchin bc we have never tried it. FLAVOR EXPLOSION!! It was so good! I would order it again and again. The bread was good and the butter was easily spreadable. I have the Chilean sea bass which is my favorite fish. It was cooked just right. The gnocci was ok. The butternut squash puree was smooth and delicious. I would have preferred the fish to be paired with a salad and served with some lemon. I think it needed something lighter to go with it. My spouse had sea bass as well but it was from the US (I can't recall the name). He enjoyed it but he said the Chilean sea bass was better. I think his fish had more flavor. I did not care for the brussel sprouts. I wish we would have tried the mac and cheese. For dessert we received a 3 cookie dish (chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and snickerdoodle) topped with vanilla ice cream. My husband enjoyed it but I did not. I don't really like cookies and when I do eat them I liked them baked longer. I would say the rolls could have a little less salt on them and I would recommend more than one orange slice with the sea urchin but other than that I have no suggestions. We will return as our kids want to try it after we raved about it. Also, my drink was strong and tasty. I think I had the barely aged which is a whiskey based drink. Give it a try. Our friends wanted to go out and celebrate with seafood, so we decided to try Water Grill out. We got free bread as a part of our appetizer. It was fluffy and flaky, satisfied the whole table. For entreés, I ordered the Swordfish and my husband ordered the King Salmon. Our friends ordered oysters, crab legs, and steak. Our friends shared the oysters and they were phenomenal. Best oysters I have had by far. Swordfish was tough, but super sour. My husband thought the salmon was overcooked, tasting bland and dry. Our friends loved the steak, was rare as they asked. Crab legs they noted said it was okay, doesnt taste any special from other crab legs they have had and it wasnt worth the $95 per. We ordered drinks to go with our meals and enjoyed our alcoholic beverages. Service was sweet, patient, and very accomodating. We got our food at reasonable times and didnt have to look for service when we had questions. Overall, for the hefty prices we paid for all this, the quality was just decent. I saw reviews stating that this restaurant has its bad days, so maybe it just had its bad day. We will still come back and visit again though. read more

I moved my rating up one point to 4 because THIS is the experience I was hoping for at this restaurant. Without question, the one thing they do well is cook seafood. My scallops were delicious with the succotash and perfectly cooked. It's so easy to overcook seafod and I've not seen them do that yet. So if you want perfectly cooked fish, come here. The issue in the past has been the sides. I noticed the last side I had, the Kale, was no longer on the menu. Good move. We had the broccolini with Chinese sausage which was delicious. If I were the proprietors, I'd focus on improving the sides as the entrees are quite delicious. But the meal can be brought down by a side dish that wasn't well executed. All in all, it was a great meal, including dessert, and I'll go back. It's also a family-friendly restaurant early in the evening. read more
Been here enough times now to give a solid comprehensive review. Water Grill is great at times, and so-so the others. When its great, its great. The Sea Bass and Black Cod is ordered almost everytime we visit. 80% of the time its very satisfactory. However, our visit just last Sunday it was very mediocre, so mediocre we doggy bagg'ed it. Usually, the plate is cleaned by us. Both lacked the usual tenderness, flavor bounce, and moistness. They were very noticeably underwhelming by our table. The King Crab legs, $200 worth were overcooked, dry, chewy, very underwhelming, especially when I sold it so hard to my uncle who never had "real King Crab legs." Very sadge. 12oz Filet Mignon, nothing spectacular, did the job, but you don't go to a Seafood Restaurant to order steak. It was fine, just not going to order it again. Lobster was also overcooked, it was getting a bit near the "tough" but not quite that stage of chewiness. Yes, Lobster by default has a bit of rubbery texture, but I just feel the preparation and cooking can improve for this big dish. Broccolini and Chinese Sausage side was a tad salty, otherwise did the job as a veggie side. Clam Chowder was good, chalk full of goodies inside, worth the money. Kale was ordered only once every in our many visits here, very underwhelming, like an afterthought placed onto the menu. Heirloom Tomato Salad and Mixed Greens are always ordered here. Both solid every time. Calamari, good, always served nice and hot with good sauces accompanying. Bread is good too with the butter! Tuna dish is ok, I just know they can do better, its healthy which I love but I don't eat it with a tremendous smile with joy. Again, does the job but not great. To summarize been here enough times to be a regular because first, the pricing is fair, its not crazy like you would expect for such a location in downtown Bellevue. The Cod and Sea Bass are the stars here (most of the time), the rest are ok, and the environment is nice. Its also great that most of the time you can get a table without reservations (I'm not sure that is a good thing) but very convenient for us. The service is good, most recently we had David on back to back weekends which also promotes us coming back. But the food can be inconsistent, meaning 80% of time its great, 20% just ok. Hands down my favorite restaurant on the downtown Bellevue strip and I've pretty much tried them all. They know where they source their food, all of the servers are versed and know their stuff ( shout out to Michael amazing service every time ) and being born and raised in Alaska their seafood is top notch quality . Absolutely don't skip the key lime pie either . Excellent job ! I hope they stay forever read more

Only service animals are allowed seeing as that area is still technically indoors.
