I LOVE Monita's! They make special gluten-free donuts. No one around here does that for miles. I moved, so I now drive over an hour to get my donuts. We stopped here on a Monday at 3:15 when looking for any sort of sweet road trip treat. This was one of the very few places around us that was open. I love the cute pink building with drive thru window, but the donuts were very average. The woman at the window said she ran out of mostly everything which I thought was a sign that we picked a good place. The donuts were dry unfortunately but I would be curious to try this place earlier in the day. It could be because they were sitting out too long. The icing on the choclate was very good! The apple fritter had no real apples or crunchiness to it that I like. It was more just a dense cinnamon sugar flavor. read more

Went through the drive-thru and got their vanilla cream filled doughnut. That was the softest, fluffiest doughnut I have ever had. It was like eating a chocolate iced cloud! Haha best doughnut I have ever had and I look forward to trying all the rest! read more

Staff is super nice and helpful! I called on a late Friday afternoon to see what donut flavors were available and the young lady ran down the list to me. She even offered to put donuts to the side for me , if I wanted her to. I declined because I ended up visiting the next day. No problem. Saturday was a busy day for donuts! I was greeted immediately and assisted by a gentleman. I only saw three donuts I was interested in. Red velvet w/t coconut and pecan(kinda dry), original glazed (good...not too sweet / light and airy) and lemon filled ( enjoyed and would order again). All for a little over $5. Decent prices. The donuts weren't anything special but decent. I don't regret making the quick trip over to Gardendale , AL as I had been wanting to try this donut shop. I do like that they offer a huge variety of donuts , apple fritters , tiramisu and even cheesecake!! Lots to unpack but I think it's worth trying this donut shop. I went to Montia's Bakery around 7 a.m. this morning. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick, which is quite nice for someone who is usually on the move. The place is also pretty clean, but I saw no indoor seating. There is seating outdoors. Consider that fact if you plan to eat at the bakery. As for the food, I got an apple fritter about the size of my head, which was quite tasty. I still have more than enough for tomorrow or the next day. I recommend this place for a quick pastry treat at any time of the day and a friendly staff. read more

Great little bakery! Was in Gardendale, looking out for thrift stores and antique malls, and got a bit of a craving for something sweet after lunch. Having just left another store, the bright pink and white design on Monita's Bakery caught my eye and I just had to stop in. Walked in and was immediately greeted, and this hospitality continued throughout my visit and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Got to try out the apple fritters (last one they had!) and it delicious. Prices are average, but proportions are not! My apple fritter was more than filling, and I think you'll find that with most of their offerings. They also offer custom toppings and designs for donuts, and the sports designs they had on display showcased their skills. They alos offer a drive through option for those who don't want to have to go inside. Can't reccomend Monita's enough! read more

Wow - just wow! My parents moved to Gardendale in 2021 and the few times I have been to visit, I stop in to get these amazing donuts. Well, my dads 83rd birthday is today and I realized that he didn't have a cake. Since they are new to the area, they are still meeting people. I called Monita's bakery at 6:30 am today and asked if I could order a cake PLUS deliver it. They said yes and did a great job explaining the cake w options. I was so impressed w their communication and their gracious attitude to help my dads birthday be special. I will continue to support this business - great products, great people and kind hearts. Visiting from Atlanta and looking for good donuts this Saturday morning (2-18-22) I found this place. It was late morning so the choices were limited. I bought a mixed dozen plus apple fritters and a couple of ham and cheese croissants. They happily made me a couple of vanilla cream filled from blanks they had in the back. While they were pretty good I have had better donuts. All in all if I ever visit Gardendale again I would probably visit here again...just earlier in the morning. Prices were what you would expect...$15.49 for a mixed dozen, 2 apple fritters were $5.98 and two ham and cheese croissants were $7.98.
