The best Mexican food in Homewood is in a donut shop. Insanely good food. Very much a taco truck type menu at lunch and breakfast.

Breakfast burrito with nuclear hot sauce (it's delicious)

Donuts are always delicious!!! They have an excellent breakfast burrito that is always a 10/10. Servers are frequently nice and relatively quick with food preparation. Vibes inside are fun. A must stop if you love local food!!!

So I am not sure what happened, maybe they had a change in ownership, but their donuts are no longer square even though the box still says "Our donuts are square because we don't cut corners".... except they do, they really do! Not a single square donut in the case lol. I actually asked the employee about it and he said they don't do square donuts anymore, so sad. So when I first found Yoyo in 2017 and left my initial review, I thought they had the best donuts in town. After the last and today's visit (had to go twice to verify!), I can no longer say the same. They are still good and I would still go if I was in the area with a craving for a donut; however, I wouldn't make a special trip to specifically go to Yoyo anymore.

After having lunch at a nearby restaurant, we came here on a late Saturday afternoon. My niece wanted a milk tea , which she said was good. We also grabbed a few donuts while we were here.. Since this was our first time here, they were nice enough to give us two free donuts! Extremely friendly staff & nicely decorated with coffee and donut decor. For the free donuts we tried the Oreo and beignet donut. The beignet donut was the exact replica of an actual beignet as far as taste. A little dry though. I didn't taste the Oreo donut but presentation wise , it was decorated nicely. We purchased a lemon filled donut for my mom and she enjoyed it. For this to be a donut shop , I was taken aback by the fact that their menu consisted of Asian wings, fried fish , tacos , burritos, etc. Perhaps these items do well on their menu but I'm often leery of places that have such a random menu. Overall , we enjoyed our visit here. Maybe I'll try some other items on their menu in the future.

First time at Yo yo Donuts!

Great first time at Yoyo Donuts! First, my coffee came out steaming, which was great, but it was very weak. They also have 8 different syrup flavors and can make specialty drinks like lattes, etc. The burritos must be made to order which is great, but the wait was a little bit longer than I had expected. I ordered a bacon and chorizo burrito. They even have avocado inside, which was great! They had tons of different flavors of donuts. They were a little bit dry on top (particularly the coconut), but still good! The service was 10/10! When I come back, I think I'll call ahead for the burritos and probably skip the coffee!

Pretty cute hidden off little donut shop which also sales Mexican food. I only came for the Boba tea but just had to try a donut because they were right in my face.. how could I resist! I chose a cinnamon donut which was reaaallyy soft after I heated it up. The bread was great and the donut flavor itself was pretty good. The one I chose wasn't too sweet! The Boba Teas I chose were the Mocha Milk Tea and the Earl Grey Lavender! So good but I'll probably keep going to Ikko for my Milk Tea runs since it's a bit closer AND their cups are larger but this place will be a second. The server seemed shy and was not very responsive when I complimented the shops affordable prices but he was quick!

HIDDEN GEM! This place has incredible breakfast tacos. I'm from Texas and this is the first place I've found real legit breakfast tacos like this. Highly recommended!!!

I had a sweet tooth baaad! Got a donut or two.. this place is kinda tucked away. It's a very interesting concept of Mexican food and donuts on the menu.. Heeey why have two separate buildings when you can cook and bake in one lol. I had a blueberry donut cake. The best! Sorry no pics. I demolished it. The icing on top was different from anywhere else I tasted. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area.

Thai tea, pork taco, steak taco, and a glazed donut

To be honest, the reason I drove here was just for bubble tea. After I walked in though I saw authentic tacos for a GREAT price and had to have some. I would highly reccomend the pork tacos :) Oh so yes back to bubble tea, after I made my purchase, I was also offered any donut of my choice so of course they get bonus points. Great experience overall!

What a charming bakery/coffee shop in a super cute almost European nook in town. If you're…read morevisiting, I definitely recommend taking a drive to this area. Progressive area - Seems to be... There wasn't line when we got there but the crowd usually follows us for some reason so by the time we left there was standing room only and a line out the door. The bakery items were very fresh and tasty. I loved the Swedish gingerbread cookies - light and crisp. The lemon bar was delicious. They also have sandwiches that liked really good. Coffee - I got a vanilla latte extra sweet (no lavender) and my daughter said it was one of the best. I thought it was pretty good. I would go again when back in Birmingham!

Nestled in the Mountain Brook area, it's a little hard to see but is right next to Chez Lulu, which I think is a sister restaurant. Parking is a little tricky but manageable. I got there fairly late so the selection was a bit picked over, but I still got a good array of treats to bring home. Service was a touch slow but friendly. They were fairly busy. There's no room to eat inside or outside that I could discern; it's exclusively a take and go type of place. I got two pecan sandies to share with my parents, who were along for the ride, and then a cardamom bun and a peanut butter cookie for later. Sadly, I don't feel like any of the pastries really wowed. The pecan sandies were a little too dry (even as sandies go) and the pecans didn't taste toasted nor were they especially plentiful. The peanut butter cookie was the best thing, though it too was a little on the dry side - nice PB flavor though. I straight up didn't like the cardamom bun. The cardamom flavor was completely overwhelming, to the point it wasn't sweet at all, and instead tasted almost medicinal. The texture was nice but I couldn't finish it. Perhaps I arrived too late to order their specialties. I know they specialize in European goodies so if I return I'll make sure to try a croissant or something similar.

I decided to stop for a bite to eat after a nearby appointment. I had never been to this location…read morebefore, and I found the drive through to be a bit tight and oddly laid out. I assume that is simply part of being located downtown where space is limited. The driveway and patio area could use a good sweeping, which would really help improve the overall appearance. Since I do not frequent Dunkin', I was not quite sure what to order. I simply asked for "something sweet to drink." When I noticed they had a breakfast combo that included a drink, I decided to go with that option. The employee on the intercom was incredibly helpful and patient while I figured things out. When I apologized for being new to the Dunkin' world, she genuinely smiled and assured me it was no problem. Her kindness and patience made such an impression that I asked if she would be willing to have her photo included in my review. She seemed pleasantly surprised and said that had never happened before, but she was happy to oblige. As I exited, the drive through leads straight through another parking lot, which felt a bit unusual. Again, I assume that is simply part of navigating a downtown location. The food was delicious and I enjoyed every bite. The new banana flavored iced coffee that Skyler recommended was absolutely perfect.

I go in here at three or four times a week because of the carrot muffins! everything I've ever had…read morein this place is good. It's freshly made! The cakes are phenomenal and the prices are more than fair this place has been in business for at least 20 years bc they sell great muffins , etc at a great price - I saw a comment where somebody was disappointed that they didn't warm something up for them(?) and I want to comment this place is not a restaurant- it's a bakery and they've usually got one or two people - you may have to wait ,but it's always worth it. They're not there to serve you, but to sell you the stuff . And yes, they're gonna be out of Muffins especially on a Saturday- Here is how to make a muffin perfect at home - if you have a Breville smart oven you put it on "warm "for 235° for 25 minutes.they taste fresh out of the oven every time. I always email (before 2 AM.)You can pick up your order the next day and it'll be in a box ready for you.- I seriously don't know what it would happen to me if this place ever closed because I'm so addicted to their carrot muffins and I have never tasted anything like them anywhere else! The morning glory , etc ( every muffin they have is amazing ) but if you haven't tried this place, you're missing out this one of my favorite places in Birmingham. (To compare them with Publix Muffins is laughable imho )
