Going thru a donut phase, searched on Yelp for "donuts near me." :) This place is awesome! Definitely local, family-run. I stopped by just before 9am on a Thursday morning and the case was nearly empty! I'm assuming this is because everyone had already picked out their dozen to bring to work. So get there early if you want to get all the options! They have a great menu of Mexican options, in addition to my half-dozen of assorted donuts, I got the breakfast burrito with sausage. FIRE. I will be back for the Mexican breakfast. The burrito was egg and guac and sausage and served with a great, mild tomato sauce on the side. I split this with my dad, but if you're hungry the full thing is a filling breakfast. They have wifi and an upstairs area that would be a great place to study or work! Treat it like a coffee shop! Just came in for half a dozen donuts and underwhelmed. Everything was just ok from the quality of the donut dough to the toppings, for six different kinds and all were meh. They are not bad but pretty on par with Dunkin' Donuts. read more

YoYo has everything sweet and savory. This was another fav when I worked in the area and it was the first donut shop to introduce me to maple bacon donuts around 2013. When I moved back a few years ago, I noticed they now served tacos, burritos, nachos, etc and was super intrigued... because what do you mean my donut shop now serves these items? A friend brought me a burrito one day and all I have to say is keep serving these items because the burritos alone have me returning a little bit later today. So I am not sure what happened, maybe they had a change in ownership, but their donuts are no longer square even though the box still says "Our donuts are square because we don't cut corners".... except they do, they really do! Not a single square donut in the case lol. I actually asked the employee about it and he said they don't do square donuts anymore, so sad. So when I first found Yoyo in 2017 and left my initial review, I thought they had the best donuts in town. After the last and today's visit (had to go twice to verify!), I can no longer say the same. They are still good and I would still go if I was in the area with a craving for a donut; however, I wouldn't make a special trip to specifically go to Yoyo anymore. read more

After having lunch at a nearby restaurant, we came here on a late Saturday afternoon. My niece wanted a milk tea , which she said was good. We also grabbed a few donuts while we were here.. Since this was our first time here, they were nice enough to give us two free donuts! Extremely friendly staff & nicely decorated with coffee and donut decor. For the free donuts we tried the Oreo and beignet donut. The beignet donut was the exact replica of an actual beignet as far as taste. A little dry though. I didn't taste the Oreo donut but presentation wise , it was decorated nicely. We purchased a lemon filled donut for my mom and she enjoyed it. For this to be a donut shop , I was taken aback by the fact that their menu consisted of Asian wings, fried fish , tacos , burritos, etc. Perhaps these items do well on their menu but I'm often leery of places that have such a random menu. Great first time at Yoyo Donuts! First, my coffee came out steaming, which was great, but it was very weak. They also have 8 different syrup flavors and can make specialty drinks like lattes, etc. The burritos must be made to order which is great, but the wait was a little bit longer than I had expected. I ordered a bacon and chorizo burrito. They even have avocado inside, which was great! They had tons of different flavors of donuts. They were a little bit dry on top (particularly the coconut), but still good! The service was 10/10! When I come back, I think I'll call ahead for the burritos and probably skip the coffee! read more

Pretty cute hidden off little donut shop which also sales Mexican food. I only came for the Boba tea but just had to try a donut because they were right in my face.. how could I resist! I chose a cinnamon donut which was reaaallyy soft after I heated it up. The bread was great and the donut flavor itself was pretty good. The one I chose wasn't too sweet! The Boba Teas I chose were the Mocha Milk Tea and the Earl Grey Lavender! So good but I'll probably keep going to Ikko for my Milk Tea runs since it's a bit closer AND their cups are larger but this place will be a second. So I have heard people tell me lately you have to go try this whole in the wall dounut shop in Homewood not for its donuts, but for food. So while working, I decided to stop by and see what the hype was about. I was greeted by a sweet gentleman that was behind the counter. I started looking at the donuts. They had a variety, but I wish it was more full ended up getting the blueberry donut which I did not get a picture because I ate it and it was wonderful and then I remembered. I ended up getting a Chalupa that was not on the menu, but he recommended it . It had the perfect spice level and was made with chicken that was grounded, which is hard to see in the Mexican restaurant. It was delicious. You cannot go in this restaurant for the ambience because it's just a hole in the wall, but it's worth it because the food was amazing and so was the staff of two, which I think was a son and the dad. Tucked away in the corner of a small strip mall, a few short blocks from the fancy shopping district, is the best donut shop/ taqueria in Birmingham. The donuts are fresh, made in store & honest. No pretense. The taqueria is where things get interesting. Breakfast burritos with housemade sauce, simmered in the kitchen for hours. I was primarily attracted for the check-in deal, but don't like coffee. So, luckily my dad was in town and he could enjoy it while we went for breakfast. Very good! I suspect that everything baked in these ovens is done so with TLC. The lady that I assume runs the shop was super nice and friendly. She said they have been open for 5 months, but held back on much marketing until now because they wanted to fine tune their products before getting out there too much. I say the fine tuning worked. With my dad and wife we only had good things. The kolache; the glazed, cinnamon cake, lemon blueberry cake donuts were all very tasty. Everything in the bakery display case looked great. It is a very clean and well presented atmosphere. As I ordered a blonde brownie to go (which I expect to be amazing), she pulled out these chopped up sausage, cheese biscuits out of the oven that looked fantastic, and the sweet aroma that filled the bakery was nice. I had 95% convinced myself to buy one on the spot, but told myself I could just try it next time. Now all I can think is, why did I not buy one and take a monster bite out of that fresh, hot piece of goodness?! They kind of looked like scones from afar, but either way, I want it. Not the best location as it's basically under the Bedzzz Express in that little shopping plaza, but easy enough to get in and out. Delicious and well worth it. Wow. I have never tasted a donut so fresh as these. I shared the dozen donuts with my coworkers. There are so many different kinds. It does cost more for a variety pak but well worth it. The staff member working that morning even added a dozen free donut holes since it was my first time visiting. I also got a 96 oz container of black coffee with cream and sugar. It made a great Friday treat. The donuts and coffee were hot and fresh. It was like they were just made, just the way I liked it. Coffee stayed hot all the way to downtown. I have been to this place a number of times and just love the quesadilla whether its the steak or fish. The wrap is just has the right crunch and the inside is soft and moist. Yuuummmy. On other occasions, i tried the soft breakfast taco - ham, chorizo and bacon. Thats good too but i still prefer the fish taco for lunch. My work wife and I stopped by post-lunch to get some boba and donuts, because her little one likes sweets. The interior is really colorful and vibrant. Their donut case was fully stocked when we enter, so there was a variety to choose from. Service was good. The donuts where even better. I had the "ripe blueberry", which was square shaped. I've been intrigued by this place since I moved here, but just got around to trying the food here after working in the hospital that morning. I've missed the kolaches and breakfast tacos I loved eating for breakfast in Texas, and I was so excited to find that Yoyo donuts has them! I had a bacon egg and cheese breakfast taco which was perfectly cooked, not the best I've ever had but nostalgic for the kind I used to have. I also had a strawberry cake donut which was a little too sweet for my taste but overall, good.
