Stuffed Clams
Anna W.

I'm not familiar with many Chinese buffets around Buffalo, but Mongolian Buffet is definitely better than any places I have tried in the past. It's a fun restaurant to dine in. Saturday late afternoon was busy, but everything looked clean and tidy. I could see all kinds of customers enjoying themselves. Only one lady openly complained. It was too long, she thought, with no crab legs, but eventually she got what she wanted. It's average priced, so expectations should be adequate. I was actually surprised how tasty and fresh the raw clams and seafood in general were. The tray with freshly prepared cuttlefish looked impressive. On the other hand, the selection of sushi rolls was pretty lame and didn't taste anything good. Even the seaweed salad wasn't the best for reasons not exactly clear to me. There was just something odd about it. This buffet allows you to try a little bit of everything which looks appetizing and desirable. I'm sure there is something for everyone. Besides classic Asian dishes, I saw delicious looking roasted pork, freshly served and still steamy hot. I saw pizza, french fries, along with mashed potato and gravy as well. Hibachi is available, too. Just choose all ingredients and the chef will cook it in front of you. I never have desserts besides sesame balls which weren't available this time, unfortunately. The service was really nice. No single complaint.

Sushi, sautéed vegetables, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken

Honestly not sure why the ratings are so low but this place is awesome! I would definitely come back here to eat and my rating is 5/5 all around for food and service. The place is clean. They give everyone gloves for the buffet so you have to use the glove for every touch point (plates, serving spoons) at the buffet stations. All staff are wearing masks. They have staff coming by every table to pick up even just 1 plate! They also have staff checking the cleanliness around the buffet trays and wipe up even the smallest spill. Also I watched 2 different families with little kids eat and as soon as they left, the staff was right behind them at the table cleaning up the mess. They don't want anything looking messy at all! Totally appreciate that. As far as the food, everything was excellent and definitely what you would expect at a Chinese buffet. The food was hot and it did not seem that anything was sitting around at all. Also this place serves sushi and hibachi all day! Very good options! Overall I recommend this place if you're looking for good Chinese options and you want a variety of foods. 5/5!!!

Eggroll was over fried

My review is based off of their takeout food, not based off the buffet. Their takeout menu is extensive but the food quality is what you would expect from a buffet place. No, I do not think they just picked what I ordered off of the buffet table, but yes it was low quality, cheap ingredients. I order the same thing from every Chinese restaurant - Shrimp Mei fun, crab ragoons and an egg roll. Prices were pretty average. The shrimp Mei fun was a MASSIVE portion of Mei fun where they added unseasoned shrimp ontop of when they were packaging it. It was very obvious the shrimp and the noodles were not cooked together. The flavor of the noodles was a tad bland also, but throw a cup of soy sauce on it and it's fine! They sure loaded me up with shrimp! The crab ragoons were pathetic. Like liquid cream cheese inside. No crab (not even imitation crab) or onions or seasoning. And so so so very greasy. It tastes exactly like a microwaved plain bagel with cream cheese on it. You know how it get chewy? Yea, just like that. The pork eggroll had food flavoring. It was a little overcooked, but overall it was alright. I don't know, maybe the buffet would be more impressive? But the takeout left something to be desired. I would stick with takeout from a regular Chinese restaurant for better quality food options.

Food never disappoints. Our waitress was so sweet. Ambiance of the steaming food was exquisite.

They have roaches and when told they said they sprayed the day before. That is no excuse. This is disgusting

They have roaches. When shown the roach on the plate their response was that they sprayed the day before. That is not a good reason. Are there rat feces in the back too?

A great choice for Chinese Buffet in south Buffalo! Numerous kinds of food with good quality. Price was reasonable for lunch on Saturday! Staffs were nice! It was clean! I bet you will find your food or dessert there! My recommendation is beef pie, sushi, hibachi, chicken teriyaki!

Terrible cold food. I got a plate from the live hibachi and the meat was under cooked and raw. Very dirty!

This used to be my one my favorite places to eat. However, the quality of food has really gone downhill the past year.

Nice atmosphere and large selection, but would prefer a small spread and tastier food, quality over quantity applies here.

It seems that $50 per person for a meal is the most common for breakfast, lunch, or dinner in many of the surrounding locations. Clean, family-friendly ambiance, with a great selection at the buffet -- omelet, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, waffles, pancakes, French toast, potato samosa, tater-tots, hash browns, toast, Greek loukoumades, and the only thing you pay for is the coffee, teas, water, and juices.

I had passed by this place a couple of times, and never really stopped. I went online and checked…read moreout the reviews which are all pretty bad except for a few four-star reviews. I thought I'm going to have to check this place out for myself. So here's what I discovered. The food is okay, not amazing but just okay. Probably the lowest priced breakfast I have seen in Niagara Falls. They do not offer you free water, it's all bottled. Coffee is 4 bucks, which is pretty standard. I think the modus operandi is this: they get you in with the cheap buffet and then up charge you for anything else you want to order. Which I get, the buffet is always a loss leader, and they get you on the drinks which are marked up significantly. So let's talk about the buffet itself. Based on what I read from the other reviews, the hot ticket would be to get there right when it opens. That way the food has just come out, it's fresh and hot, and there is enough of it. I had the eggs, the sausage, and a piece of French toast and a waffle. I did go back for seconds to get a bowl of fruit, and try out the tater tots. The food was okay. Again, not the greatest I've ever had and not the worst I've ever had. It was a perfunctory breakfast. But again I tell you you need to get the right when they open to get the best stuff. Would I go here again? I don't think so. There are plenty of other places in Niagara Falls that are way better for just a little bit more money. However, if you have a group of people you're trying to feed on the cheap, this is a place to go. Case in point while I was there, two busloads of Mennonites came in and swarmed the buffet. Bottom line? It's a cheap breakfast, and you will walk out of there for under 20 bucks if you just have a coffee.

The dining area, food stations and bathrooms were all very clean, which is so important at a buffet. They even have gloves at the end of each station in case you didn't want to touch the serving utensils with your bare hands. The variety of food goes from everything you can imagine at a Chinese buffet like sushi and fried rice to American options like burgers and fries, to surprises in-between like New England clam chowder and prime rib. Tons of dessert- hard ice cream, cakes, pies, fruit, jello, even Crème brûlée and waffles. One of my favorite surprises was the variety of mocktails. Most places offer me pop as a mocktail or a Shirley Temple at best. Decent pricing. Father's Day special dinner menu was $50/pp (Canadian) about $36/pp (American) which is pretty great for all you get and that's WITH their high tax. I believe the refular pricing is about $10/pp less. A must try only 30 minutes from Western NY.

There's another buffet in the area that people generally like, but I've never been there. We visited Amherst Buffet last in September 2023 to check out their new location. I don't really know why, but we never went back. After today's visit, maybe I know why. They moved again! This time they took over the building where the Chinese grocery store used to be--Ni Hoowa. We were very curious and couldn't wait to see inside after the transformation. On Thursday around lunch time, this place was packed. It was shocking to see it, because there is a very large dining room area and it was almost fully occupied. I asked about a booth, and the hostess actually spent some time finding one for us in the perfect spot. I should start my review by saying that all the servers, and working crew were very nice and friendly. The food looked good. For lunch, there were typical dishes, nothing crazy. From two kinds of soup (hot and sour was nothing special), appetizers, lots of chicken, some pork, shrimp, fish, clams, of course rice, noodles (even Shrimp Alfredo). Also I saw pizza, fries, fried chicken looked awesome, wings, mac & cheese, etc. Let's not forget about desserts and fruits. The melons were perfectly ripe and delicious. If you enjoy Chinese Buffets, be sure to stop by and check this place out for yourself. I'm certain that at this price point, you'll have nothing to lose. The visit could turn out to be a really fun experience. I almost forgot, there is also a Hibachi Station on-site where a chef prepares dishes to order. What actually turned us off was 'Salt Overload'. Why do they use so much salt?! It's possible to avoid the most sugary sauces, but salt? The food would be tastier without too much salt, or MSG? (OMG!). The sushi was also a disappointment. There was hardly any of it during our stay, and what I did try wasn't good. One day I would definitely check Amherst Buffet during dinner hours, just to see what's cooking. P.S. Today was the official last day of school for students so that's why this place was full of families and kids. They celebrated :).

It's kinda odd but it works. The place is huge. I had a good experience and I think it's all about the timing. We arrived about 3:30 on a Friday. This meant the place was empty! Lunch was over, the place was all cleaned up and restocked for the dinner crowd. It was pleasant not dealing with lines of people or children. Everything was fine. All the standard cooked sushi rolls and a hibachi cook, but I chose the regular options. The soups were hot and tasty. All the pans were filled. The mussels and clams were well iced. The white fish was tasty and all the Asian style dishes were good. Naturally, there's tons of options, some better than others. Lots of cut fruit and salad ingredients. I always have giggled over the desserts which is typically a couple of cookies , some pudding and sheet cakes. The best improvement is getting rid of the messy, sticky ice cream bar and replacing it with individual skippy cups. Thanks for that! I'll probably return but always during the off time. Everyone was pleasant and the rest rooms were clean.

Surprisingly pleasant buffet meal…read more Grand Super Buffet has been open for about 20 years in Rochester. While its name is certainly difficult to live up to, we were happy to find a decent buffet selection and overall flavourful Asian American dishes. It's a spacious and dated interior that won't win points for ambience but hits on value, ingredient quality and taste. With it not being packed, dinner service was reasonably attentive in cleaning away our buffet plates. Weekend adult buffet ($17.99) featured a large array of over 100 items across 6 stations plus a sushi bar. Hot or warm dishes such as the Mongolian pork, BBQ spareribs & Cajun crawfish were relatively well-seasoned and the cheese-infused stuffed clam, spinach & crab rangoon were all fun to try. The sushi had a lot of rice filler, and some dishes such as the steamed clam & whole tilapia stayed out too long and were tough. Following the mains, the fruit station had sweet watermelon and pineapple that was too good to pass up on despite us being nearly full! There were also some roll cake and Asian fritters among the many deep fried items. Some dinner guests opted for the basic ice cream. We finished the meal with a few fortune cookies, and paid at the front. It was a bit strange that the bill was dropped by guest tables halfway through meals. Skip it or hit it?
