Excellent takeout lunch joint with unique and delicious meals and desserts that change daily. I've been following this place for awhile on Facebook, and finally had a chance to order lunch here. I ordered the pierogi special which had 4 different types of pierogi in it, and was pretty good! I also got a lemon brownie which was HUGE, and tasted amazing. Pretty neat cafe mostly utilized for takeout orders with a home cooked feel. Because they offer free delivery within a 5 mile radius, I decided to purchase a few items for lunch or whenever I didn't feel like cooking during the week. They are a bit on the pricey side in general but I spend a lot when I go to Panera Bread and I'm not nearly as satisfied. First of all the Lobster Ravioli (10 for $19) was probably the most delicious pasta I've ever eaten, Large chunks of lobster inside and outside of the ravioli and topped with a flavorful cream sauce. If I see that entree on the Specials menu, I would order it again in a heartbeat! The second entree I purchased was the Thai Chile shrimp and asparagus with orzo($17)...the shrimp were nice and plump but the dish didn't have much flavor ..... I had to add some Sriracha sauce to make it more flavorful .... I would probably pass on purchasing that one again. The third was a jalapeño popper panini ($10) , it was a decent size and flavorful but very spicy.... I enjoyed it, but ate the other half at a later time cause it was so spicy and rich....with that being said, I would definitely order their paninis again. It was mid afternoon when my stomach suddenly demanded to be fed. Not entirely familiar with the area I was in, I turned to my trusty Yelp app to find a nearby restaurant. The name alone of Salt Cuisine caught my attention and so that's where I headed. Being mid afternoon, the restaurant was empty except for the women running the restaurant. Without other patrons providing a hint of what to expect, I rambled incoherently as the kind woman offered assistance. Salt offers a rotating menu posted to Facebook in the morning. They have a display case with their menu as well as a takeout freezer of prepared meals. I eventually settled on a Chicken Pot Pie and a piece of Grilled Island Chicken. Afterwards I ordered a Chocolate Chunk Cookie to go that I polished off before snagging a picture. The Grilled Island Chicken was great. A juicy, tender piece of chicken thigh that had a nice heat. The chicken pot pie was amazing as well. On the outside was a flaky crust, and on the inside was a creamy mixture of moist chicken and various deliciousness. The strawberry was a nice finish to the end of a filling meal (but there's always room for a cookie). My favorite part of the visit was the decor. It's obvious the amount effort put into this restaurant. It offers a very warm and comforting home-kitchen vibe. I'll be sure to visit again soon with some friends. read more

Let me start out with the good: Salt's fresh chocolate chip cookie was one of the best I've ever tasted. I haven't tried their hummus, which is one of them reasons that I tried Salt. However, I did try their chorizo mac and cheese. The mac wasn't the best I ever had, but it was tasty. Maybe a 7 or 8 out of 10. But the chorizo in it was a little chewy and lacked flavor. That could be because it was sold frozen and supposed to be reheated, but that doesn't explain the flavor. Plus it was like $13 for a little Chinese container that only fed 2 of us. My hub and I didn't mind the price at first, because the food is supposed to be natural, fresh, and made from scratch by the chef, but I expected more. I would, however, come back for a cookie now and then! Note: I haven't had their entrees, but my hub and his friends have, and they said good things. We dropped in for lunch, having only just found out about Salt Cuisine. The service was amazing, and the woman behind the counter was very helpful and answered all of our questions about the food. The food was prepacked and ready to go in a fridge and freezer, but we had everything warmed up and played for us to eat. It was all delicious! The strawberry salad had amazing candied pecans, the coconut curry soup was a perfect pairing. We had to go back and get a chocolate chunk cookie and a slice of blueberry cheesecake for dessert. I come here with my friend from work every once and awhile for a truly amazing lunch. Everything is fresh, homemade and made with high quality ingredients. The soups are amazing (we always stalk their FB page to see when they're going to have their lobster bisque!) The torta rustica, quiches, tarts and salads are all incredible. This place is fantastic. I went in there with my daughter today asking if they served avocado toast. The woman behind the counter said I don't but I can absolutely make you something. It was probably one of the best avocado toast we've ever had. I also tried the caramelized onion hummus which was to die for. I'm consistently impressed with the variety of unique dishes offered. They have a case full of their specials of the day, as well as a fridge and freezer to stock up on hummus, soups, entrees, etc. You can eat in, or take the food to go. I've done both. We stopped by here on our way to the airport. We just wanted a pre-flight snack. We got so much more. The food was absolutely amazing and if we weren't from out of town we would come back again and again. It's the quality of the ingredients and the superior cooking skills that make this place worth visiting and it's the super friendly staff that make you not want to leave. Been to SALT a few times and it's great to have a place like this in the neighborhood to pick up food on the go. They also have a nice sitting area too. Everything we have gotten from there are delicious! Some of the items are a little pricey, but worth it! Good food and good quality. My favorite thing to get from SALT is the pastries, yum. Most recently, we got the strawberry and spinach salad with poppy seed dressing, omg so good! My family picks up a quick dinner from here at least once a month. The food is consistently good and we always get several small dishes to share. While we usually cook Easter dinner, we decided to do the Salt Easter dinner to go special this year to avoid unnecessary shopping during the quarantine and OMG it was amazing (definitely way better than anything we would've cooked ourselves). Went Here for the first time last week. Small but everything looked good. I tried a soup and stuffed chicken. I was not expecting the soup to be frozen. So after heating it up, I was excited to try some and it was horrible. It tasted just like from a can. And had some veggies not normally in Minestrone. For my wife's birthday, I wanted to do something intimate and different instead of just sitting down to a prepared meal. My wife being a total foodie, enjoys the prep work and cooking almost as much as eating. We found in SALT and co-owners Chef Beth James and proprietor Mel Hyzy a shared passion for cooking, ambiance and laughter that made for one of the most memorial dinners we have ever experienced. Tucked away in a quiet area in Synder near Wheatberry, we walked into SALT and were immediately taken with the coziness and warmth of the décor of the store. Wood grain tables, candles, stainless steel and chandeliers all blended together to give a look and feel of a your own cooking channel show. we were greeted with hor d'oeuvres and a personalized menu, and even though we know that Chef James had been working all day, she greeted us as if she had just started to prep for the meal. Refreshing blueberry water in hand, we donned aprons and began to prepare the first course, seared scallops & ruby red grapefruit with avocado oil. Simultaneously, we began prepping beef tenderloin-the whole tenderloin! My wife, who considers herself a fairly competent cook, was taught some tricks from a patient and engaged Chef James, who showed us how to cut, tie and grill a whole tenderloin, BBQ style. As the tenderloin slowly cooked on the grill and the oven, we prepared grilled veggie stacks, skewered with mozzarella and resto. The scallops and skewers were only trumped by the perfectly done tenderloin, complimented with a campazola crème sauce and truffle butter. We topped off our meal with a BBQ inspired desert of grilled peaches with lemon & honey infused mascarone. the richness and natural sweet juiciness of the peaches left you wanting for more, even though you couldn't possible take another bite. SALT has a variety of items from prepared meals to soups and even wings. I encourage anyone that has a moment to stop by and sample as much as you can. There is something therapeutic and rewarding about being directly involved in food you enjoy going from grille to table, and when done with the expert and passionate hand of both Chef Beth and Mel, my wife and I could not recall a better meal experience. Quality, attention to detail and passion are not words that should be used lightly when describing food and those that make it their profession. But those are exactly the words that I would use to describe the heart of SALT and its owners. Thank you for providing an experience we will never forget, and an experience that involved us and taught us all in an atmosphere that was intoxicating. Salt always has a welcoming and warm aethstetic when I visit. All their food is made fresh and I can expect to try a new recipe every time I come in, as well as pick up some old favorites.
