Not sure if it's under new ownership now or what but the experience was awful. Just wanted to get some food to go and was filling my bowl with ingredients and the guy was watching me like a hawk. He then tried accusing me of pushing the food down into the bowl and said there would be an additional $10 charge if it needs a second container. I wasn't worried about that because I have gone there many times before and stacked my bowl much higher than it was. But then when he went to put the food in the container which already was 1/3 full of rice that I didn't even want he didn't even fill it up all the way and put the smallest amount in a second container and said I need to pay $10 for the second container of food. I was so in disbelief that all I wanted to do was get a refund and go somewhere else but I decided to just take the one initial container that wasn't even full that I paid $20 for and just leave. I did try to have a talk with the guy and explain that the container was not even full and that I never asked for rice but he started getting really aggressive and yelling. Not sure how much longer this place will last with the way they are treating their customers

The place was clean and well maintained and the staff were efficient and quick to help us. As a customer you get to pick the ingredients that you want in your bowl. I opted for lovely hot green tea We then grabbed a cozy booth and while I sipped on my soothing tea, my husband raved about his well seasoned meal. The menu depicted various grilled meats and lots of veggies, with rice or noodles, for a reasonable price. (Most everything else at the other places were fried. And I wasn't in the mood for Panda Express). I ordered a teriyaki chicken with minimal rice. This dish cost $5.99 (the cheapest meal offered) and I usually eat 1/3-1/2 of any given meal, anyway. The lady who took my order was friendly but quite the character, with her "wig" of red yarn braided in two large side braids, and the "cook" was a nice guy who was personable enough. My dish was presented in a styrofoam box (even though I said I was going to eat it in the food court there). As for the food itself, I inspected the chicken pieces and they were cooked through and through. There were some veggies (carrots and cabbage, mostly). And, as I requested, I got only a bit of rice. Unfortunately, everything was doused in a teriyaki sauce that I wasn't too keen on (mostly because there was so much of it. But also it just wasn't my cup of tea). I ate 1/3 and threw the rest out. And I felt super queasy and had major GI issues for the next few hours (I'll spare the details but, suffice it to say, it was NOT a fun drive back to Vancouver for me). Other than a Starbucks coffee, this was the only thing I had all day, so the chances are pretty high that this food didn't sit well with me. Not sure if it was me or the food, but I'm not going to take a chance and eat here again.

I paid over $15 for a plate for this Mongolian style grill and chose 2 sauces. After weighing in, they give you a receipt slip which you are supposed to pass to the grill guy. They should at least have a menu visible outside the restaurant to know what damage to expect. Don't think I'll come again for this price. I hit a minimum of $12 every... single... time. The ingredients are good. It's a clean place. For a newbie, it's not obvious which steps need to be performed before getting your cooked meal. Here's a 9 step guide. Step 1: Take a metal plate. Step 2: Deep breath. How hungry are you? Step 3: Bok choy, spinach. Dry, light stuff. Step 4: Just got paid? Shrimp, baby corn, zucchini, carrots. Step 5: Weigh-in. Emit a muted "DOH!" Step 6: Take the slip of paper given to you and circle your choice of sauce. Select more that one if you wish. The weighing is done. Step 7: Hand your plate over to a cook, and hope he doesn't frown at you. He serves it up with sticky white rice. Step 8: Take your new container of food and eat it up. Step 9: Too late to complain. We truly appreciated how welcoming and helpful they were. We were impressed by the wide variety of fresh and healthy ingredient options. There are so many fresh toppings and sauces to choose from, and it was so easy to fully customize our bowl from base to protein to toppings. It is not a preset menu spot, which makes it even more fun. We also loved how vegetarian- and vegan-friendly the options are. The portion size was surprisingly generous (more than enough for us)! For the quality and price, it was honestly very impressive. Our bowls were served hot straight from the grill, and we felt like we were watching a cooking show as the staff prepared everything right in front of us. We could literally feel the heat from where we were standing. Huge thumbs up to the hardworking team managing both prep and grilling. Everything tasted fresh and flavourful without being overly greasy. We even had leftovers for lunch the next day, and it still tasted amazing. We also loved their healthy drink options and frozen yogurt. Learning that their entire menu is seed-oil free and refined-sugar free made us appreciate the concept even more. The space is clean, bright, and has a super welcoming atmosphere. It is a great option when you want something warm, hearty, and customizable instead of cold salads or typical fast food. Great value for money and protein options for everyone. We truly think Goodbowl needs more locations in Vancouver. Highly recommend. 100% would come back again. Food: 5/5 Must Try! I ordered a Regular Bowl ($15.95) with egg noodles, various fresh veggies, hormone-free chicken, and teriyaki sauce. I feel that I could've asked for more sauce though as I prefer more saucy noodles. I loved how the ingredients and toppings were all made on a grill top in front of you and it is served sizzling hot! The fruit smoothies ($8.65) were such a treat too! We chose the Green Machine (spinach, apple, kale, pineapple, banana, low-fat vanilla froyo) and the Classic (strawberry, banana, orange, low-fat vanilla froyo). We enjoyed how refreshing and natural it tasted. They also have fresh fruit frozen yogurt and we picked a small size ($4.95). We picked a strawberry banana and blueberry flavour.
