I went here not having high hopes. Place was empty, but lots of places are these days. One man behind counter. I got a shawarma. OK, I gotta tell you, this was the best shawarma possibly I have ever had. It BLEW MY MIND. The meat was so fresh and seasoned so exquisitely, and piping hot. It was sliced perfectly. The texture was like from a middle eastern food channel dream. The rice--which I didn't even care about or even know it came with, was PERFECT. Every grain, perfectly cooked, perfectly warm and perfectly seasoned. i don't even like rice that much. I could not stop eating it. The hummus and tahini were very good. But the real surprise was the simple side salad. So fresh! And the dressing was so light, lemony-salty. refreshingly light and I could not stop eating the boring-ass salad! Great authentic Lebanese restaurant. Tucked in between a Philly cheesecake place and a florist across the street from Peet's coffee. Highly recommend the kibi and cheese rolls. Falafels are amazing. The refreshed decor is very nice and was a welcome update. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for either the food or the service. The food is just okay, except for the fish which is outstanding. Be aware of extremely unprofessional owner. I recently placed an order for pick up, thru Yelp which had used grub hub to restaurant.. I went to pick up my food when it said it was ready and owner aggressively refused to give me my food until he saw me Mark "received" on the grub hub app? I tried to express to him I was not a grub hub driver but was who paid for the food and showed him my, already paid for, food. He continued to get loud yelling at me. I told him I did not understand what he wanted me to do but there was not a "arrive or received" option but he made me feel stupid. I showed him my receipt but then begin to tell me I'm going to walk outside and cancel order? It was 5mins of back and forth until finally I offered to show him my ID and write down my information and a statement that I picked up just to be allowed my food. This sucks because they do have good food but I'll likely never be back. Also. It's unfortunate that grub hub drivers or any driver would steal from local businesses which causes owners to apparently act this way to locals who are actually offering business. Though the yelling at a customer who is not at fault and offering any source of information is not acceptable. read more

So this place has no consistency to their food. The first time (dine in) it was pretty good and this most recent time it was horrible-rice was undercooked, chicken and beef were not fresh and the salad was wilted and the tomatoes pale! The BBQ was over done with burnt edges. The guy at the register has a very short temper, no class. Save your money and don't order take out from here, you will be dissatisfied. So this place used to be really good, just ate the again and this time the food was just okay, the beef shawarma was very dry and they raised their prices considerably, four of us ate there with two having sandwiches and the bill came to over $100. That is crazy given that this place has no atmosphere and is basically a cafe style restaurant. I would never go back again. For the price they charged us I will next time go to a nice tablecloth restaurant with more atmosphere and have a great meal for my $100. read more

Mona's Kitchen is in the old location of Sasoon, which was a very good Armenian restaurant. While I was sad to see it go, I'm pleased that Mona's has taken its place. Delicious Lebanese food cooked perfectly. I can't vouch for the meat dishes, but there are so many wonderful vegan and vegetarian options and with stepgrandparents from Lebanon, I know good food when it's served to me. I've tried all of the typical dishes now - order the appetizer combo to get a sense of the excellence of the dishes. I'm pretty sure that plate was intended for two people, but I simply could not stop eating! They also threw in some baklava that was heavenly. It's not usually my favorite, but this was crunchy and not overly sweet and I would order it again. Other vegan options include foul (fava beans), cabbage salad, and veggie sandwich - with fries! I'm so disappointed and shocked. I order from this place often. My mom and my brother love it. So we placed an order through Postmates and the postmates driver picked up the food, but had an emergency of some sort so with that being said postmates informed us they couldn't bring the food and refunded us. We still wanted it so we placed another order....we then received a call from the owner screaming and cursing at us. He stated that we were playing games and that he's not going to "f**king make it". We couldn't get a word in to the even explain to him what happened. I'm actually confused considering the restaurant was still getting paid for the food...We ordered quail and I'm not sure if this is something they hate to make but I don't think they should offer it if it's such an issue. Not to mention we ordered quail from here a few weeks ago and they took it upon themselves to send us frog legs instead ....i called and they stated they sent it because they ran out of the quail. I didn't get mad or anything I just informed them that I don't eat frog legs and they informed me to let them know and they'd credit me the next time I come in. Seems like they don't know how to run a business or deal with customers. Super pathetic. So if I can be completely honest, give your business to a restaurant that actually appreciates you giving them the business during the pandemic...not a place that's going to mistreat you and curse at you because you placed another order.
