My family and I stopped in on Easter Sunday for their brunch. Nothing short of Amazing!!! Was seated promptly, and our waitress was very attentive. She took our drink order, and before we even settled in our seats, they were in front of us. Now to the buffet, it far exceeded our expectations! At the start, the pastries were fresh and delicious, then came an array of hot breakfast items to choose from. Starting with the fluffy eggs, to the Italian frittata, to the 3 choices of meat, then pancakes, french toast, waffles, cheesy potatoes, to even pierogies!!!! I really like Mona Lisa's Ristorante, good food nice people. We ordered 3 Turkey dinners for thanksgiving. They were take out meals. I had to wait 1:15 in the parking lot for these three meals. After 3 calls and a stop in I was able to get our Turkey dinners for Thanksgiving. I'm going to let this pass and be thankful for everything positive in the world. They were over whelmed and were very sorry, but they really need to look at a better way to stay up with their business, etc. read more

We went on the second Sunday that Mona Lisa's had their breakfast buffet. The food was excellent! Very tasty and a nice variety. The buffet is all you can eat, but does not include coffee, tea, or juice. Those can be ordered separately. The service was good and will likely get better after a few more buffet Sundays. As for ambiance, it is a comfortable space with interesting Mona Lisa artwork. One thing we liked was that there are no steps, which makes getting in and out of the restaurant easy for everyone. We arrived for our 6:00pm reservation and were sat down a couple minutes later. Drink order was taken and then we put food order in shortly after. 2 hours later, we were still without any food. We knew it was busy, but kept asking about a time frame trying to be patient. Waitress said that our order should be the next one out. Every table around us kept getting their food, and most of them came after us. We told them to just pack the food to go. We ate it at home and to be honest, it was not great. So for starters, we made a last minute reservation for Valentine's Day. I can't fault the restaurant for that, but if they were overbooked they simply should have said so and told us they couldn't accommodate my party. I would have understood. So, limited menu for the night. 4 courses, 3 items per course - salad, appetizer, entree and dessert. With so little to choose from, there should have been no reason for delays or mistakes. But that's not what happened. First of all, I felt so sorry for the water girl. It was her first night and they threw her to the wolves on Valentine's day. Not good. It took 20 minutes to place our order. It took 3 more times asking for bread before we got that. They got our salads wrong. The girl bringing them didn't even know what the difference between Thousand Island and Strawberry Vinaigrette dressing looked like. At 50 minutes, we got our appetizers but they were wrong. Had to ask for the right ones. Dinner came out after being there 90 minutes, but they were wrong and we had to ask for the right ones. My sister and her husband ordered the prime rib. Both came out rare, despite ordering them medium. Side dishes were wrong. My sister asked for sour cream for her baked potato. She got blue cheese. TWICE. I asked three times for cocktail sauce for my fish and shrimp. Never got it. My wife asked for Chicken Parmesan. They gave her eggplant parmesan. We had to ask multiple times about keeping the water glasses full. EVERY MEAL WAS COLD - and not just because the window we were seated next to leaked cold air like a sieve in 20 degree NY winter weather. During this time, there were 2 tables that just gave up and left at the one hour mark for each. Another table complained until he got his dinner and then couldn't eat it because he didn't have a fork - they never brought his silverware. I felt bad for the woman he was with. Three other tables just asked for their dinner to go. At the two hour mark, we gave up as well and asked for the desserts to go. As a final parting gift, they got those wrong too. The cheesecake they gave me was the best part of the meal. I've been here quite a few times but this easily ranks as one of the top 3 worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. No surprise, the other two restaurants are closed. They gave us a discount on the meal because of the poor service and mixups with the food, but it wasn't enough. If I'm ever going back - and right now that's a big IF - they need to do some major improvements to their service and food preparation staff. Time will tell. read more

The Sunday Brunch has such a great atmosphere. I absolutely loved the massive variety of breakfast items. . My daughter's favorite was the chocolate croissants. My son's favorite items were pancakes and bacon. I love supporting small businesses and the owner was so sweet , you feel like you are at home with family. The service was above and beyond great. My personal favorite was the au gratin potato's. Levey's favorite was the waffles with strawberries and cream , bacon , sourdough donut holes. So we decided to try their Sunday breakfast buffet ($22/person) for the first time and so glad we did! From the moment we stepped inside we were warmly greeted by the server and sat down immediately. The establishment was very clean and tastefully decorated. At first glance the buffet looks small as it's set up on the bar but it's an amazing selection! I wish I would've taken pics of our plates but we were so hungry, we ate right away lol They had a big selection of breakfast meats from crisp bacon to 2 different sausage links, ham slices and the corned beef hash was the best I've had. The unlimited buffet also included eggs Benedict, frittata, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, waffles/pancakes, but the stars of the show were their cinnamon French toast bake and the cheddar au gratin potatoes-WOW! But the best part was when our server came out and offered us complimentary fresh baked Irish soda donuts with a light coating of melted light green icing...words cannot describe!! Throughout our stay we were also greeted warmly by the friendly kitchen staff that came out regularly to check up on the buffet. This is such a hidden gem and we plan to be back for dinner and will probably be back here next Sunday for breakfast again. Placed a takeout order one hour in advance. Got there and I'm told it'll be out in a few mins. Well my order took another hour before I received it. Had multiple wait staff ask the kitchen about my order during the hour I was standing there looking like an idiot. Every time they check, "it'll be a few more minutes". They were busy and all they had to tell me was my order wasn't even being made yet and I would've gladly come back closer to when my order would've been ready. Why it was decided to string me along for an hour baffles my mind. The kicker is when I finally get my order and get home to scarf it down due to hunger and having to go to bed, 3 out of the 4 items we order had issues. Chicken parm was overcooked and was dry, flavorless, and gave my other half diarrhea. Utica greens, we asked and paid for sausage which was missing. Calamari was over salted, greasy and missing the marinara sauce to dip in. Chicken Riggies at least didnt have an issue other than the flavor wasn't there. The chicken wasn't even seasoned before it was cooked which was weird. $100 for an order that was an hour late and had multiple issues is not what I was looking for from a neighborhood restaurant. Called and asked for the owner after we noticed the food issues and she was too busy to come to the phone and was told I would get a call back. Two days now and no call. The extra frustrating part is that during my hour wait, she had plenty of time to come out to say hi to someone that requested her presence. Mona Lisa's Restaurant took over the building that formerly housed Morgan's Restaurant. The building has quite the history, as the restaurant at 329 Fay Road dates back to the early 1900s and was once a speakeasy that was raided by the feds. Before that, it was a farmhouse. The owners of Mona Lisa opened about 6 months before COVID hit, so it has been an uphill battle for the new owners. I was intrigued by their pinwheels they have on their menu, and decided to give them a try this weekend, as the wife and I were looking to try a new restaurant. I ordered a large pizza with pepperoni and sausage, an order of their zing it wings, and an order or their buffalo chicken pinwheels for to go. I was told 30-40 minutes. Having never been, I almost passed by the place cause I didn't know about its past, and it just looks like a huge house from the outside. The parking lot was pretty full, but it's a large parking lot and still have plenty of space. I walked in and even the inside is kinda set up like a house, with different separated rooms. My order wasn't ready yet even though I'd shown up at about 35 minutes, but again, they were very busy. Employees were friendly and told me they'd bring my order out to my car for me when it was ready. About 15 minutes later, my food was brought to me. Everything was still fresh and hot when I got home about a half hour later. We enjoyed everything. Good pizza, the greasy, but delicious kind. Wings were cooked VERY well, nice and crispy without having to ask for it. The zing it sauce was tasty, but very sweet. The pinwheels were great too, big chunks of buffalo chicken and a tasty garlic butter on the outside, and they were pretty large. 12 wings, a large 2 topping pizza and an order of 6 pinwheels came to $50, so plenty of food for the price. We don't live very close, but I'd absolutely go again if we were in the area. read more

This one is a little under a 4 for me. Ordered takeout at quarter of 6 on a Sunday night. 12" Cheese pizza and and order of chicken riggie pinwheels. Was told it'd be about 40 minutes. The food wasn't ready when I got there but that's not an issue. The pizza was much thinner than I expected based on photo's that I've seen from other reviews. It was pretty unremarkable, but pretty pricey in my opinion- 14.95 for a 12" cheese is a bit steep for me. The pinwheels were good but hit you like a punch in the gut. Definitely a "sometimes" food. The long awaited reopening of the restaurant at 329 Fay Road has finally happened (about 5 weeks ago)... Mona Lisa's Ristorante. Wonderful! You have to give a restaurant that has opened a short time ago a little bit of wiggle room as they iron out some of their wrinkles. Didn't find any wrinkles tonight. We ordered eggplant Parmesan for dinner and a house salads. Kept it simple and was not disappointed. The salad was fresh and the choice of toppings were plentiful. The eggplant Parmesan too was fresh, very tasty, and the pasta was al dente. So good to see a local favorite establishment re-establish itself with that local neighborhood feel and a fine neighborhood taste. Give it a shot, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Update: When my husband came home he returned the moldy dessert for me. Even then, the restaurant did not initially acknowledge that it was moldy. They continued to say it was a different color icing. When my husband scoffed at this, they ultimately said it was questionably moldy. They could not or would not supply a refund, but they did give him a $10 gift card and another piece of cake. I would never have given a bad review if they had apologized, said thanks for the heads up, and said they would check all the desserts in their fridge for mold and get rid of any that were moldy---and provided a refund. When I called them I was sure they would want to know they had served moldy food so they could prevent it from happening again. I have had lots of good food at Mona Lisa's. I love the turkey dinner, chicken and biscuits, and the pin wheels. I usually really enjoy the desserts. However, today my chocolate mouse cake with cherries was moldy. It was a pickup order. I called to see if they could take the charge for dessert off my credit card since it was moldy. I was told that it was probably just a different color of icing. I explained that it was definitely fuzzy mold and offered to send photographic evidence that it was moldy via text or email --but they said that wasn't possible. They did offer to replace it if I brought it in. It was not convenient to do that. I just wanted a refund. They told me to just remind them about what happened next time I come and I can have a free dessert. I'm not sure I'll be back...so that may not work out either. read more

First off, let me say that we made reservations with this establishment well in advance (over a month), for a party of 14 for their so called "Thanksgiving Buffet". The Sunday before thanksgiving, the owner calls me to collect a $25 per person deposit to guarantee our reservation. That in itself was kind of sketchy as this was never mentioned before, but I reluctantly gave her our credit card number after talking to some family about this request. Fast forward to Thanksgiving day, we all got there on time, and stood in line for 30 minutes before we could even check in. Their lobby was so full, we couldn't move. My elderly father who's in a wheelchair had to wait outside in the cold because there was no place to put him inside. After another 15-20 minutes, I finally got to the front of the line, and told them our name, and we were finally seated after another 10-15 minutes. The two tables they gave us only had 11 place settings, and we had to go and ask what was up. They ended up giving us a second table that seated more people, and then we had to ask for water glasses, and more place settings. One of our tables had their water glasses filled up with water, but unfortunately, the other table did not. It was very dry, as my husband jokingly stated. We then placed our orders, and received our salads, and other drinks we ordered. My sister wanted the Brie appetizer, but the waiter stated that they were all out of that. When I took my children to the buffet, in the bar area, it was very very dark in certain areas, so it was hard to see all the foods. The bin for macaroni and cheese was empty, and the bin for turkey was almost empty, with tiny scraps of meat left in it. We settled for ham, a couple scraps of turkey and "prime rib", and some mashed potatoes. I did take a small gelatinous piece of dressing and gravy as well. When everyone started eating, we all discovered that this $45.95 a plate buffet that was not all you can eat, by the way, was the most inedible food we've ever encountered. The mashed potatoes were very lumpy and had absolutely no flavor. The dressing was jello texture, and disgusting. All three meat selections up there, (ham, turkey scraps, and "prime rib") was most definitely deli meat sliced very very thin. The haddock that was up there looked dehydrated and inedible so we didn't take any. When the waitress checked back in on us, and gave us the check, I think she knew we all hated the food, because we handed her very full plates back. The majority of the $32.95 turkey plate was canned vegetables, with only 2 tbsp of gravy on potatoes. I will say that the tiny amount of bread given to us before dinner was very good. The desserts of pumpkin pie (bought at price chopper, as a person in our party saw the label on the pie tin), and cheesecake were subpar. They didn't put cherries on the cheesecake as advertised either. Also, my sister and brother in law both stated the leek soup tasted like dish water. Our waitress, was very polite, but our overwhelming experience for the price, was extremely disappointing. read more

It can be a little slow, service-wise, but a drink at the bar waiting for takeout was a very nice way to pass the time this past visit. The wings surprised us - good size and great flavor. Went for the all you can eat breakfast buffet. I'm not really sure what we were expecting but it kind of felt like an overpriced hotel breakfast. The waitress we had was very friendly but they were so understaffed. It took a while to get a table when we walked in, and then we waited even longer at our table to get a drink and understand how to get food or where the buffet was. She was very kind and trying her best but didn't seem to have a lot of help. We got there at around 11:30 am and most of the trays were half, if not completely empty when we went up to get food. The bacon was burnt and the eggs benedict wasn't what I was expecting (shown in the photo). But the pancakes were delicious! It was a very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Overall, I wasn't impressed and wouldn't come back again for the breakfast buffet. You would think coffee would have been delivered soon, but we waited way too long for this. At that point there were few people so I don't know why the delay. We filed into bar area for food and upon eating, everything was lukewarm. I was not a fan of how they prepared eggs Benedict. Hard to like any food when it's not hot. Tried Mona Lisa for the first time recently after seeing reviews of the pinwheels. Of course we had to order the chicken riggie pinwheels, which certainly lived up to the hype. My boyfriend and I each got an entree, which came with a salad and bread. The only thing I would change is the size of the order of pinwheels. The only option is to order 6. It would be nice to have a smaller order option for an appetizer for 2 people. We had lots of leftovers to take home but the leftovers heated up very well so no complaints here! read more

Amazing time here again with my boyfriend! This time it was the best experience yet out of the 2 other times we came here. We had a male server this time, probably mid 20s, he was super kind and was super efficient. For the past two times we came here, we never got offered bread (we always had to ask), and never gotten asked for what sides we want with our meal. We didn't know the pasta entrees come with a side of salad! The male server today gave us bread without asking, and even asked if we wanted our side salad. Loved this place when it was Morgan's, so wanted to try it out. Ordered delivery through grubhub and was very happy!! Homemade croutons were excellent on the salad. I ordered the gnocchi vodka. Not many places in Syracuse have homemade gnocchi, so I was excited. The portion size was amazing and it definitely lasted two meals for me. The bread that came with the meal just just ok - plain Italian. I was so happy with the gnocchi I didn't care how hot it was. The vodka sauce tasted great!! Going to order again soon! read more

They were under staffed, food on buffet was not warm, and paying $45.00 a person for buffet which was processed turkey and ham, wasn't sure what the "beef " was. THE DRESSING WAS A JOKE. We recently ate at the new MONA LISA'S (old Morgans) on Fay Road in Syracuse. It was the most HORRiBLE eating experience that my family has ever had. We were the only patrons in the restaurant. We gave our orders to the waitress. It took approximately 30 to 45 minutes to get our meal, during which time we saw many take-out orders being processed at the cash register. When the meals finally came they all were cold!!!Three of us ordered Italian dishes (what the restaurant is about); eggplant parm with side of pasta; baked ziti; and lasagna. Also ordered was broiled haddock with mashed potatoes and beef stew (their special of the day). The Italians dishes were draped with a really thick sauce made of tomato paste and water. The eggplant parm was cooked on the top and raw underneath. The baked ziti looked and tasted like a left over which was stale. The baked lasagna was inedible. The beef stew was mostly a heavy brown gravy. We all left more than 90% of our meals. The bill for this inedible food was over $94.00. I asked to speak to a manager to tell him/her about our displeasure with the meal and was told that he was on the telephone. Five minutes later I was told there was no manager there but the waitress had spoke with a co-owner on the phone and said that owner whose name is Carmen would call me back the next day. I never received a call the next day or any day thereafter. For restaurant that just opened, the customer service and food was well below par. I will never go to that restaurant again!!!!!! read more

Did a take-out, so I am not sure if service has improved. Food was above average. Upon calling, there was some confusion about which ovens/fryers were operating... they were closing at 2:00. A huge opportunity is being lost if pizza and wings are not sold available all day and night on NFL Sunday's...just saying. But anyways, pizza, wings and a sausage sub were made available. Pizza was average. The outside crust was burned, yet the center was under-- in my opinion. I am very picky about "New York Pizza." The taste was great, and I really liked the sauce. The wings were great. Meaty, and had the signature Buffalo crustiness. The sausage sub was "meh" according to my husband-- nothing special.
