Stopped in at about 2:30 on a Sunday. The place was moderately busy, no seats available at the bar, but there were a few booths available. This spot has a strange ordering system where you have to go order food at the back of the room, or so I thought. I was met at my table by very nice staff member who took my order. I needed to go to the back to pay. I also needed to purchase my drink at the bar and fill my cup at the fountain in the back. Pretty confusing experience. I ordered ten hot wings and a small order of french fries. Total came to about 20 dollars, pretty reasonable considering the current wing crisis. The fries were very good and came out 10 minutes before the wings. The wings were insanely crispy, which is not my preference, but would be good for someone who was into that. The sauce was very vinegary and not my favorite. My main gripe is that an order of wings took over a half an hour to get to me. Not great. Weird ordering system, long wait times, only okay food- 3 stars. The staff was very friendly though, so there's that.

I ordered pizza on a Friday night. Firstly, delivery said 40-50 minutes but my food arrived in half that time, so right off the bat I was pleased. I got the garlic pie and added ricotta, which was a great choice. The pie was a tad oily but not overwhelmingly so. The pizza was good sized and tasty. Overall, a perfectly pleasant pizza buying experience.

There are locations all over Syracuse, and as far as I can tell the food is about the same. This is the one we've been to most of the time. It has a bar and a decent dine in area. In true Syracuse style, they cut the pizza into strips instead of wedges. They will cut it into wedges upon request though. They have good pizza. Crust and dough are firm, but not so firm or stretchy that it steals the show. A lot of good specialty options. Not pictured here is the lasagna pizza, which may have been our favorite. Philly and meat lovers hit the spot just the same. We threw a haddock dinner onto one of our orders, and it was actually really good. Another day we went in just for a cheesesteak sandwich and wings. The cheesesteak was about as good as any other, but the bread was warm and soft, it was hands down our favorite part. And they make some good wings too. We asked for extra crispy and they came out about average. But hot gets you somewhat spicy, delicious buffalo sauce, and good sized wings that come right off the bone. Nothing crazy, but above average. One thing we immediately noticed about this location is the amount of fighting between the staff. 4-5 times we've been in there over the last few years, there always seems to be an active conflict between two or more employees playing out right in front of us. It's never really affected our food or service, but we've started to anticipate it coming in. All in all, they have great food at reasonable prices. If you brought them to a small town, they would clean house. Here in Syracuse, surrounded by dozens of other excellent pizza places, they're easy to forget.

Got Roast Beef/Lettuce/Provolone/ Thousand Island. Sandwiches are hard to mess up and impress when they are cold cut but the price for the size along with the roast beef being a good cut definetly make this a good sandwich and I can understand the enjoyment. Coupled with it I ordered a soup and while they didnt have the meatball medley the chicken noodle was warm and comforting and additionally they gave us a mac salad to make up for the meatball medley being ordered but not available. Love a good paprika on my mac salad and they did it well. Would go back and try something else!

We came around lunch time on Saturday August 30th 2025 - Upon walking in, I noticed the menu board was written in very small font and had no descriptions so it was kind of hard to figure out what we wanted. I asked the employee for the most popular choice and she recommend the Brooklyn special which had swiss cheese, pastrami, corned beef and prosciutto. This came on a rye bread, with a type of mayonnaise and we added lettuce, tomato and onions. We got only 3 pickles for the huge sandwich which really did not seem like enough. I appreciated how much meat there was but the overall sandwich was lacking in flavor. The "Russian dressing" tasted like regular mayo. I did not see a regular reuben sandwich option on the menu, perhaps this was something you needed to request - but it would have been better to have a toasted bread perhaps or just a different sauce. Portion was huge, pricing was fair, but the overall flavor was boring so that is disappointing.

It was fine. Would've been better if the cheese was actually hot. Expensive at 15 bucks for four pieces of bread with beer cheese and scallions on top. I had the beef on week. Partner had the CHAMP. They really enjoyed theirs. The beef on wreck was good. Horseradish had a real kick which I appreciated. The sandwiches came with "rough cut" chips which seemed to be made in house. Fine for what they were I suppose, I don't personally like homemade chips so I can't judge too hard. Came to nearly 60 bucks for two sandwiches and an app. Expensive for what it was. Not a bad experience but I'll only be back if my partner has a craving.

I ordered the Beef of Weck and Potato Salad given past reviews seemed to deem these two items as menu staples. The potato salad was fine, in need of a big pinch of salt. The Beef on Weck was a hardy, and a big portion for a sandwich, the extra horseradish wasn't necessary unless you're really a fan. However, the sandwich should be eaten with the au jus, otherwise it borders on flavorless. I did find the bun overly salty. Filling but not fufillying. Additional note... When I went to pickup the staff member wanted me to sign off on a receipt of the full amount without the discount. When I stated I paid online, he responded it had to do with the fact DoorDash doesn't allow for a tip. When I asked for a new bill representative of what I paid, the manager came and said they ask for the signature to confirm it was picked up... Then I said, I can indicate that here on the app, and he agreed and let me go with my food. Overall the interaction made me uncomfortable as I've never experienced a similar situation with pickup. Perhaps just me, but something I feel someone should be made aware of if they're ordering to-go.

Honestly I didn't even know that this little shop was hiding here until a friend of mine had told me about it. Hiding in the Mass Mutual Buildings Lobby in Downtown Syracuse at the corner of Fayette and Clinton Street, unless you happen to notice the sandwich board sign out in front of the building you wouldn't notice it. The good about this place from what I can tell you is rotating $5 lunch specials, free delivery of lunch within the downtown area, a rewards program based off points of dollars spent, and a friendly staff and reasonable prices on a pretty expansive menu for a cracker jack box sized Deli. And most of the food is fresh prepared right in front of you. Sometimes even by Joe himself! I decided to try something that was a regular item on their menu which is cleverly named with streets and areas in Syracuse. I had the "Onondaga" which is essentially a chicken bacon ranch panini. One thing I love about it is its a pressed sandwich, Which next time I try one of their pressed ones I'll get a different bread. The standard for this sandwich is a local favorite, pastas stretch bread. Which is absolutely delicious, but it just doesn't press well in my opinion and it makes it overly chewy. If I customized it a little and got a different bread, it would have helped it. But it did use a lot of fresh ingredients bacon made right on the flat top and roasted chicken breast cut right there, and a good quality ranch dressing. I got a side of fries as well which were just basic shoestring fries but were fresh fried to order for me. I can say if you want a budget lunch that is of good quality, Joe's definitely is a great choice, as it ran me less than $10 for quite a bit of lunch with a drink. I can definitely say that I will make a return trip. And even though its hard to find for the general public, they definitely are loved by the downtown workers as they probably churned through 30 customers as I ate mine in their quaint little dining area of about 4 tables. If its that routinely eaten, I think you as well might like to "Eat At Joe's"!
