Was honestly so disappointed with my experience I don't at all get the hype of this place. Came here w my sister, I want to start with the most minor yet still annoying exchange; I ordered a coke and when it arrived it was flat af like no carbonation whatsoever, the waitress was nowhere to be found for at least 15 mins so I went to the bar and politely asked an employee (bus boy??) working by the register for a new one... the bartender w the mohawk who thinks he's the shit shot me the dirtiest look as him and bus boy trashed talked me for whatever reason. God forbid I ask for a soda w some carbonation. Moving on, I ordered the "Mom's Burger" w a veggie patty and well... I think the pic speaks for itself. I really did try to eat this burger lol. I tried to give it a chance. The mush "veggie patty" was falling all over the place so I even tried a complete 180 (see pic). All the waitress could offer was her employee discount of $4 off the $15 burger and some fries to go (the fries were a nice touch but tasted much better than the ones which came with our meals initially). Overall I should've asked for a manager and had the meal refunded. I think this place needs a new recipe for their veggie patties. Not many vegetarian options otherwise. read more

Obviously a really popular place, as they were pretty busy and seemed a little overwhelmed with the amount of customers. Breakfast/brunch places are usually like this on a Sunday morning, so it's kind of surprising when a restaurant still can't handle that crowd. A group of 4 of us asked to be seated outside; we noticed that there were a couple of open tables on the patio, so we figured it wouldn't be an issue. However, we were told it would be a 30 minute wait. Puzzling. We agreed to sit inside since we were pretty hungry. The menu has plenty of options, and we later find out that the portions are HUGE. I started off with a Bloody Mary. Definitely not one of the better ones that I've had - the mix was a little too watery for my taste and even though I asked for it spicy, it was a little lacking in that area. Although, props for all of the "extras" - olives, celery, peperoncino, lemon, pearl onion, and jalapeno. I decided to go with the huevos rancheros tostada for my breakfast. Instead of the normal soft corn tortilla, they are cooked up crispy (and mine might have been a little overcooked since they had taken on more of a brown color). The tortillas are topped with eggs, beans, pepper jack, ranchero sauce, and a creamy chipotle sauce. All this is served with a side of yukon gold potatoes. Like I said early, this is a huge portion of food. Overall, this was decent, but nothing spectacular. I would have like a little more spice throughout. When it came time to pay, we asked our waitress to split the check into four, split by meal, not split 4 ways equally. She came back with 4 incorrect checks - it's like she just mixed and matched all of our food and drinks. When we finally waved her down again, we explained that they were wrong and she quickly got us new ones. We already had our cards/cash out, so we said we'd pay right then instead of her leaving again. But I guess we didn't hear us, because she left the table and we were left waiting once again for her to make her way back to us. Finally, once we paid and she brought us our change, she had rounded some checks up and some checks down, so the change was all wrong - not by much, and definitely not enough to make a stink about, but we just thought it was weird. Overall, just an ok breakfast at an ok restaurant. Not something I'd be adamant about coming back to next time I'm in Chico, but also not something I'd be totally opposed to coming to again. read more

I keep wanting to have a good experience here, but continue to be disappointed. Today, I tried a to go order of a Steakhouse Salad which offered "homemade dry rub seasoned steak." I called in my order at 12:17, was told it would be ready at the bar in 15 minutes. I showed up at 12:35, walked to the bar, and was not greeted for a couple of minutes even though 3 waitresses walked past me. Guess what? When I was finally greeted, I found out that my order wasn't ready. The girl said it would be right up...no apology, no offer of a drink while I waited...nothing. It was finally ready at 12:47, a full half hour later. And that steak? Try more like steak medallions that were tender, yes, but bland as hell. I don't think there was a lick of spice up on there. This may be my last trip. You would think that management *hint hint* would read these reviews and work on the opportunities for improvement--food temperature, service, etc. Hopefully, they will. This restaurant is so great! We had Amanda as our waitress. My roommate always has a large appetite, because she is on the CSUC Softball team. I don't always have a big appetite, but I ask tons of questions, and am pretty inquisitive about what I am eating. Amanda helped us both figure out how to get exactly what we wanted, making suggestions and comments at our request. I ended up choosing her "favorite" meal that she's "obsessed with". The Juevos Rancheros. I was/AM in LOVE. I was so impressed by both the service and the joy that we got from Amanda, and will be going back asap. Also-side note- their orange juice is BOMB. They do a good job at arranging chairs and tables to maximize walking space in the restaurant. Food: 4 - Being vegetarian, I've had the (a) veggie hash which includes artichokes hearts, black olives, spinach, red and green bell peppers, red onion, jack cheese and potatoes, topped off with red pepper cream sauce and served with 3 eggs and (b) the veggie lover's scramble, which also includes a 3-egg scramble of local seasonal vegetables with jack cheese and chimichurri sauce. The order comes with delicious breakfast potatoes and a biscuit served with mom's apple butter. E ordered (a) and liked it too, so I'd say you can't go wrong with (a) if you're a vegetarian, but honestly, I like both. Especially if you're starving after running 4 miles on a Sunday morning! Service: 4 - No surprise - they don't take reservations for brunch, so the wait was about 20 mins on a Sunday at 11am when I came here with MB, e$, and P. Not bad. The hostess provides you with a buzzer which vibrates to notify you of a free table in the restaurant. The waitresses are also responsive with refilling water and getting your order right the first time around. Overall, I'd come back especially if I'm near campus and craving some motherly cooking. Pro tips: 1. Free coffee with check-in on Yelp app. These cups of coffee come in Mom's custom designed mugs. 2. So I don't really know how you're meant to feel after getting your car towed but we figured a good breakfast would do the trick. When we asked everybody who lived there and they said Mom's is the best. The place was packed of course but the bar was available. Perfect, because I'm in a shitty mood, hungover, and I'm hungry believe it or not. We get to the bar and are greeted by an extremely cute girl who ended up serving us all morning. Very hard worker, doing drinks for all her other employees and interacting with us the whole time. I got the orange juice because it's so well known and once I had it, I understood why. It was freshly squeezed and the pulp (which I don't normally like) tasted so good. I ordered a cinnamon roll with pecans and the new orleans. The cinnamon roll was awesome, don't let it sit for too long because it will dry up fast. The new orleans was pretty good, personally I would have liked to have the eggs cooked a little more and to have it a little more spicy like jambalaya. However, overall the meal was really nice. All the flavors seemed to be lost. 3rd visit: amazing 4th & 5th: okay. Nothing special, nothing bad. And so on... Also you should expect to spend at least $20 tip and all. I'll start with the fact that our waiter was fine, not great not terrible. The service at the establishment seriously lacked. We went on a Sunday, and were told 20 minutes to be seated. Sat at the bar and ordered a drink a piece. After 45-50 minutes I questioned the hostess and was told they had called our name... bs. We were 3 feet from the podium. They sat us immediately and we placed our orders. After another 35-40 minutes we still don't have our food and we are now starting to motive there is an issue. Call the waiter over and explain our frustration, and are told "sorry it's been happening all day" "long ticket times". They explained that if we had to go our order could be cancelled... lol really? In the end, we waited for our food, and honestly it was good. That is the only saving grace of this visit. read more

It's from Wednesday to Friday night and the entree changes weekly. Well I'm glad we came in! We each got a plate with 2 pieces of battered fish, a nice slaw, and some of the best fries we've had in Chico. We enjoyed it so much we decided to come in another week. Steak tips with potatoes and vegetables. Liked it as well with the caramelized onions and balsamic reduction. Really a great deal! Just ate lunch here. Food and service were okay. Seems a little on the expensive side especially for breakfast. Portions fair. My plate arrived at the table (ordered the French dip). There was a large hair on it and so they took it back, made me a new one and comped it. They did the right thing and were very apologetic: wasn't the BEST I've ever had and only ate half.
