It's seldom that I am in Waldorf. Okay, that's probably never that I am in Waldorf but the James E. Richmond Science Center was down the road with a special screening of Beautifica by James Hood. A few friends and I gathered for dinner at Momi's before the evening show. You might be a little confused as to how it works but that's okay. We all were. You start by placing your order and then you're asked to sit at a table. Actually, a sign tells you that the toppings area is not for waiting and that you are expected to wait elsewhere. It was not a terrible wait when you have friends but I would place an online order ahead of time if I were doing a pick up. Sometimes a wait only means your food is being prepared fresh. And this was the case here. I got the lamb kabob fare which came with pita and five toppings. My toppings were the beets, cucumbers, corn, cabbage, and pickles. I have to admit that I may have gone too far on the pickle scale as almost all my toppings were on the vinegary briney side. I almost couldn't finish the last of the pickles because they were too briney! We all thought the servers were trying to give us extra toppings. They kept asking if we wanted this or that and they even added extra cucumbers to my plate once I stopped at the designated five toppings. After selecting my five toppings, I was asked if I wanted any yogurt and hummus. Sure, why not. I have no idea if they were included in what I paid. Then the last question was do I want the sauce to be hot or not. I said not and got a drizzle of green sauce on my lamb kabobs. And when I was handed my plate, I was given a blessing. And how can you not smile and thank your server! The lamb kabob was nicely prepared and soft. It was worth the wait. I enjoyed all my toppings and if I ever come back, I will try some of the other toppings. The french fries were really hot upon pick up at the counter but nice and crisp. (Note: one of my friends ordered the beef burger and as he proceeded to put some mayo on it from a packet, the mayo was solid.) Parking: Plentiful
This place stands out in a bland shopping center in a bland town. It is a sort of fast casual; one places an order at the register and then waits a bit for them to get it started, before getting called to select some toppings. Their selection of fresh toppings was fantastic, and I think I indulged the people working there on it, but ended up with a fantastic wrap. Their falafel is distinctively spiced, and they had flaming hot sauce, house made hummus, and an excellent variety of fresh and preserved vegetables. They did not have a whole lot else on the menu (at least from a vegetarian perspective) and I always feel a little weird getting falafel without fries, but I could not realistically expect a better sandwich that the one I received here.
Momi's is absolutely delicious and I wish I lived closer. The chicken is addictive. Everything is so fresh and flavorful. The staff are super friendly and you can tell that they really care. The meat is grilled fresh to order so there's a little bit of a wait, but I never mind. The platters with vegetables, rice, and chickpeas have always been excellent. Portions are generous. There aren't a ton of good options in this area but Momi's is definitely one and I always look forward to returning.
I will make a detour to specifically eat at this location. The warmth and excellent customer service, along with fresh top of the line offerings, is a combo that can't be beat. Mediterranean food cooked to perfection. We ordered two meals to go. One vegetarian plate showcasing the Falafel Balls and the second Lamb and Beef Kebabs. Simple deliciousness. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the items on the menu.
I had the absolute pleasure of visiting this adorable new Middle Eastern spot, and I'm already obsessed! It has a super fun and easy Chipotle-style setup--you pick a base and then choose 5 fresh, homemade ingredients to build your own delicious bowl or plate. It's perfect for customizing your meal, and every option is honestly better than the last. I went with a coworker who is Middle Eastern, and they immediately said it was the best Middle Eastern food they've had in the area--which says a lot! Every single ingredient tasted so fresh and flavorful, and you could truly tell it's all made from scratch with love. The owner is the sweetest person ever--so kind and welcoming, and he made us feel right at home. His whole family was there helping out too, and they were just as lovely. You can really feel the heart and soul behind this place. If you're looking for something casual, fresh, and absolutely delicious, this spot is it. It's like a Middle Eastern Chipotle--but a thousand times better. Go now before the secret's out!
Let's start with the absolutely phenomenal-- the food. Grabbed the Lamb Kabob, rice, tabbouleh, chickpeas, and multiple salads with their hot sauce. The absolute freshness of the ingredients cannot be described in words. The flavors all work together perfectly, and as someone who spend years in the Middle East, it is pretty damn authentic. Now only two small things -- the ambiance is very cafeteria-esque. Now I only care about the taste of the food, but I know some people will be turned off by it. They also don't have a menu visible, which makes ordering a bit of a process. Definitely would have tried the Shwarma if I had seen it before ordering. Overall, some of the best food I've had in Waldorf and will be a must try every time I'm in town.
Passed by this establishment while starving and decided to pop in and see what it was all about! Normally, I pull a quick review up to read but it had already been nearly 7 hours since I last ate! So, I took a chance! I'm currently on a primarily clean food journey. So, this was right on time and they did NOT disappoint! I ended up getting my food and eating inside vs to go because I wasn't going to make it back to VA without passing out like a fainting goat from lack of food! The space is very large inside for seating and the parking lot has ample space! Pricing was not expensive and you get a lot of food for what you pay! I ended up ordering a kids Shawarma plate and a couple of falafel balls! When you order, you stand back until they call your number and then you come up to the counter to tell them what you want as your toppings. I must have had a lost look on my face (or a look of fatigue from hunger) because the guy decided to make my bowl w/his suggestions, with my blessings, of course. I appreciated that because I was overwhelmed and starving already! I ended up with white meat shawarma and subbed chickpeas vs getting rice. The toppings. Idek. Some cucumber tomato, onions, red cabbage, hummus, yogurt sauce, something spicy, turkish salad (?), and some cauliflower. A couple of other things but I forget! Everything was sooooo freaking fresh and delicious that I ordered another kid's meal to go after I finished the first one! Don't judge me! The pita was light and tasty and went well with the toppings. While I dont live close by being Im in VA, I will definitely make a point to stop by for dinner/lunch whenever I'm back in the area! It's worth the drive and I dont have the guilt of eating some bad fried food full of who knows what! The customer service here was so wonderful and they seem to know their "regulars", too. That was a positive to witness in person. They care about their customers for sure!

Momi's Kitchen has a vibe very similar to Mezeh. They use a ticketing system to manage orders, so don't expect a quick run through the line (like Subway). After work, I appreciated the slower pace and only waited about five minutes for service after paying. They have traditional Mediterranean choices, you can customize your meal (again, very similar to Mezeh). I ordered the chicken shawarma platter with tons of veggies and falafel on the side. The platter was very tasty, the falafel was extra dry and lacked flavor. One item I added was very oily. I'm guessing it was the chic peas. The people working there are very nice and the restroom was clean. Overall, it was a nice experience. I felt content while, and more importantly, after eating. I'm happy to see healthier choices in the area and plan to return. read more

Several members of a Facebook group I'm in gave Momi's rave reviews. Cava is taking its sweet time opening here in waldorf so I decided to go ahead and give Momi's a try. The menu consist of chicken, steak, burgers and lamb and some of the sides/ toppings are falafel, veggies, yogurt, hummus and rice. I ordered the steak and my sides were rice, hummus, veggies, tomato cucumber, tomato corn and pita bread. You order your main ( meat) and when it's done they call your number, you come up and tell them which toppings/ sides you want. The one and only con I have is the person getting my sides didn't really listen when I was asking about a certain side. She knew I had steak so she immediately went to the sides that she felt went with the steak. I wanted to have a choice so a couple of times I had to tell her no I don't want that side I wanted something else. It was slightly irritating but not enough to ruin the experience. When I say experience I mean the food. The steak rivaled some of the steak I've eaten at "upper end" steak places in DC. The sides were also delicious. I would have given the place a 4.5 instead of a 4 if I could. I will definitely go back and I'll definitely know what toppings I want. read more

I wanted a salad and decided to give Momi's a try. I've heard nothing but good reviews, so I was excited to finally try them. The restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine so I knew what to expect. The ambiance is very nice! There's plenty of seating and it's very clean. They provide laminated menus on the counters before the line. It's very easy to order....just don't expect Chipotle service. There's so many options on the bar, and they will explain each item if asked. The young man at the counter was very friendly and courteous. He even recommended sauces. Now to the food. It was DELICIOUS! Everything is fresh and well seasoned too. They have so many fresh ingredients to choose from. They also give you complimentary pita bread. I paid $12 for my bowl. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of this place. The setup is very strange and the food was mediocre. The service counter looks to be setup similar to a subway, chipotle or similar restaurants when you walk the line and you tell them what you want on your bowl and then you get your food right there. Instead, we ordered our food, got a number, waited 10 minutes and then was called up tot he counter to tell them what we wanted on our bowl or wrap. I thought that they were preparing my food while I waited, but when they called my number I walked up and walked the length of the counter with the server as I told her what to put on my bowl. All of the items were already made. I'm not sure what I had to wait for and the restaurant was empty. My food lacked any flavor and the sauces were also bland. We love this place! The food is great every time we are here. Our kids love the food as well. The meat is cooked to order and then you add the toppings. Momi's has become part of our weekly eating habit. The ingredients are fresh and tasty. My wife loves the healthy whole food ingredients. The service is good and the staff is friendly! They are not fast, but most people seem to be understanding. The ambiance feels a bit cafeteria like, but that hasn't been an issue for us. We highly recommend Momi's! read more

We needed this in our area! We have the same type of foods in this area for miles, Mexican, Chinese, American, Italian, and Soul food, but we didn't have Mediterranean or Middle Eastern (not sure where these owners are from). The food is very good, and the service is too! The kabobs are cooked when you order them, so you wait a little but they're freshly cooked and steaming hot, like I like my food to be, not tepid! This is a new spot for me! I have been back 4 times in a month and tried everything except for the specials. Momi's food is always fresh, delicious, and quick! Staff is always very welcoming and friendly. Right now, it is never really busy, but once people start catching on there will definitely be a crowd. Great for families! The only thing I do not like is that the food isn't covered. Might not be an issue now, but it will when it's crowded. Hopefully they change that. read more

This place is nothing short of amazing. The veggies are super fresh. Everything looks delicious and hard to choose here. It is a family run business so they helped my husband and I navigate the menu. I selected the kabob. It was fantastic and so much food. I ate the entire thing. You can definitely not go wrong with anything you order here. Was around the waldorf area and stopped by this family own restaurant because of the great reviews! Abundant parking and they also have a outside patio as well. Inside it was very clean and pretty much brand new. Employees were all very nice. My husband and I ordered the chicken shawarma and the baklava. The man who made me and my husband's platter ( he may be the owner? Not too sure) was awesome! He recommended what toppings we should get. As you can tell the platters were so colorful and filled with healthy toppings. In the end, both of our platters were both so flavorful we finished everything! The prices weren't too high either. This restaurant recently opened and it's our first time here. Inside the restaurant - nice and simple accommodations and without much decor. Plenty of sitting. There's no outdoor dining, but there is space for it. Hopefully business picks up and they expand outdoors. Bathroom is clean and deodorized. Food - The food spread is colorful and seasoned with a handful of meat options. We ordered the shawarma platter, and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and tasty. So I went to this restaurant last week and tried it for the first time. I was so pleased at the customer service and how friendly they were towards me, plus the quality of food was excellent. They made every accommodation for my dietary needs. Because I informed that I was in fact that I was a vegan. They made a special plate for me because they did not have an option for vegan style on their menu. So I am very grateful for them doing that. Then I was even more pleased once I tasted the food because it was ultra fresh and it was delicious! Everything on my plate, every flavor complemented each other perfectly. My new favorite at Momi's: baked salmon with all the fixings, I don't tell the owners what I want with my salmon; I asked them to fill my plate as they would have their. And every time the dish turned out perfectly, the flavors balanced perfectly with all the seasonings, the pickled radish had a hints of sourness , the cucumbers /tomatoes/herbs salad gave the dish freshness, Taheen added a creamy element; and the blend of the three hot sauces brought all the flavors together.
