Solid bar to go to if you're looking for somewhere casual to go that doesn't charge cover. They have plenty of TV's so this is also a good place to go to watch any sports games. We came for Game 6 of the NBA Finals and cheer for the Warriors, and this place was packed- it was hard to find a chair/stool, so we stood for most of the game. I liked that they had a good selection of rotating beers on tap (although only one stout option) and that you can order pizza to be delivered to the bar or bring in your own food (since they don't have a kitchen here). Molly's could definitely use a remodel, so this isn't a great place for a first date, but at least their bathrooms are clean. My only complaint is their security- they don't have someone check your ID at the door, but the security guy walks around and stamps your wrist once he's checked your ID. He's obviously very good with faces, but not so much on communication- instead of asking politely to see your ID, he borderline accosts you/barks at you to get your ID out. It would be a more pleasant experience not having someone yell at you out of the blue, that's all I'm saying. Anyway, I would come back in the future if I'm looking for a chill spot to just grab a beer with some friends. read more

* We went on a Thursday night so maybe things change for Fri & Sat... - Bar takes FOOOREEVVVEERRR to get a drink - Have to purchase a water - DJ plays old songs - OUr group of 9 were the only ones dancing for the first hour - Crowd isn't great for meeting new people: lots of older people or groups + No cover, although heard that there is one... not worth it folks + Drinks were inexpensive + Dancing read more

Apparently getting a quick drink in Mountain View is quite an event. Meaning you have to pay a cover to get into really random bars that most people wouldn't be caught dead in normally. Anyways, snobbishness aside - the bouncer was cool because they honored the verbal assurance from another bouncer that there was no cover when there should have been. If we would've had to pay one - I think I would've shot myself. We came in for a quick drink prior to clubbing and they had Strongbow on tap. This was the only reminder that we were supposed to be in an Irish bar. I felt like a freshman in college - the one the tried going to all the frat parties before figuring out which ones to go back to and which ones never to think about again - this would be and example of the latter. Anyways, I felt myself dancing a little - good thing. Enjoying Strongbow on tap - very good thing and making fun of people - bad thing but still a little fun. I won't be back but judging from the crowd - they don't need me. read more

Have you ever been to an "Irish Pub"? Then you've been here. Enough said. Well I'll say a bit more. Overpriced drinks, $5 cover for a crap DJ, and large selection of sausage. read more

If you're looking for a real Irish pub, this is not your spot. My very Irish father told me that he wouldn't recommend Molly Magee's as I've been spoiled with real pubs my whole life. $5 cover charge on a Saturday night. Old people on the dance floor at 10:30pm. Creepers galore throwing out their best pickup lines. No, my friends and I aren't interested in being guinea pigs for your come ons. It got pretty crackin after 11pm. Drink special was decently priced. 1 real, live Irish person working there! read more

Nothing Irish about it, Molly MaGees is a chill, a low-key, homely spot on Castro with a towny feel; full of locals and college-aged students and it seemed like everyone knew each other. Still, the drinks weren't super strong, tiny dance floor with a standard top 40 DJ (who could learn how to fade songs into each other instead of allowing the awkward 3 seconds between songs), the crowd was alright, it was just a chill bar. I found out later that my friend and I had actually crashed Los Altos (or Los Gatos'? Or Mountain View?) High School's 5-year reunion, so everyone in fact DID know each other. No wonder. read more

Went for a beer with my boyfriend one Sunday afternoon. DECOR First, this is a sports bar and there's a whole scene that goes with that. Generally speaking, I don't choose to go to sports bars but I'm happy to go when my boyfriend wants to stop in for a beer. That said, I tried to be objective in this review. Overall, felt dirty overall though the tables were clean. Very dark inside for the middle of the afternoon which makes the patio out back much more appealing. We decided to go to the patio. There are several heat lamps which makes this area comfortable. Lots of daylight too. There is also a bar in the patio area. Bathrooms were semi clean but lack of upkeep is pretty obvious. Latches about to fall off the doors, decor from the early 70's. Not really surprising given that this is a sports bar and to me it feels somewhat dive-like. Lots of TVs. Even in the Patio, I noticed at least 2 TVs. SCENE Mix of younger kids doing birthday shots, an older guy with a laptop, a few middle-aged groups. Really did not like that several people were smoking. Not sure how they can do this legally but perhaps there is some clause that allows it in this patio area. Smoke was blowing my way which was a stinker. FOOD n/a DRINKS We both had a Guinness. Was very good. SERVICE Ok. A waitress came by to take by boyfriends beer and did not ask him if he wanted another. She then went to another table, took their drink and asked if they wanted any more. Not a biggie but noticeable. SUMMARY Would only go back if my boyfriend wanted to but even then, I'd encourage trying something else. read more

Here's the thing about Molly's. If you are looking for a chill night with your girlfriends that involves a cocktail and dancing then this place is perfect. It's a small Irish dive bar that has a dance floor and patio. What I love most about this place is the music. I love to get down to hip hop and top 40 and that's what you will find here. However, don't expect to find the love of your life or even a one night stand. You will mostly find creepy old dudes and a lot of foreign people here on contract working at some tech company. $5 cover after 9:30 and my best advice? Always come on a Thursday night. Never on the weekends. Go to the city then. Trust me....I've lived and learned. read more

Good prices, fun vibe and DJ, nice bartenders, and most importantly for a bar, great security. I had a really rude, crass guy approach my group and say inappropriate things, and one of the security guards noticed that the interaction seemed uncomfortable for us and immediately escorted the rude guy out of the bar. 100 for great awareness and quick action and plus 10 for wearing kilts. read more

I was greeted at this place by being told that "I should order a pitcher of water" because I kept asking what their "beer of the day" was. This place sucks. I walked in and was told their beer of the day was a blue moon. Initially I thought "Beer of the day" must mean cheaper than normal pints/pitchers.. Nope, pint was $4 and pitcher was $16! Wow, maybe I don't frequent silicon valley much, but this bar doesn't have much to offer for that steep of prices.. Anyway, friends and I order two rounds. Not only did it take the bartender about 5 minutes to take our orders (it was at 5 pm and there was probably 6 ppl total in there), the idiot bartender overcharged my credit card by $5.. He didn't apologize and it took him an extra 5 minutes to "correct" the charge (which still hasn't been corrected on my bank statement and I will be calling them shortly to complain). This place sucks. Do not go here. read more

I love their specials, that's about it. Each day there's something, so depending on the drinks you like, you might end up here on a random... Tuesday? or even Wednesday. Crowd is eeh, but this place does get packed at times. A little gringy feeling. read more

Yuck. Crap. No!!!!!! These are the watered-down feelings that enter my head when my wife and her friends decide they want to go out drinking in MV. $5 after 10PM. What does that get you? Well, if you're a straight single man, next to nothing. If you are as straight single obnoxious man, well, it gives you the license to be as stupid as you want to be. Oh, it also gets you crazy bar lines.. for decently strong drinks. Good luck walking from bar to wherever you and friends are sitting. There's plenty of drunk runners in the bar.. the kind that walk into you and thru you on the dance floor and also in the bar area. These are the same people that when they dance, they feel the need to do the mambo or dry hump in an assortment of different ways. They are everywhere in this stupid place. Everywhere. $5 also happens to buy stories for a lifetime. Like this one time this dude was dancing all weird.. and he comes up to one of my friends and touches/fondle/smells her hair! His excuse? "Don;t worry! I'm gay!" There's also the overcreative and also stupid pickup lines... I swear this is where guys practice their lines (a sample audience if you will) before moving on to a bigger stage. There's plenty of bad dancers to laugh at. Plenty. For some reason, this happens to be a "happening" place. I think the reason is that this is mountain view and well, there's not much else here. St Stephen's Green has it's night, but that's about it. I give it 2 stars because nothign else in the area is better. I guess that's a case of "we suck less then everyone else!". read more

Christmas night they were open! Whooohoooo! So me and a friend (I so earnestly convinced) crash at Molly MaGee's for our Christmas get-together. I called a few hours early to make sure they were open. OMG, they were! Surprisingly there were quite a number of people here and Jackie, my favorite bartender was there too. She's Irish and she makes kick-ass drinks. I only want my drinks made by her. You should too. Grrrrreat DJ that night. He was this tall, skinny Asian dude. I loved every single song he played and his mixes made me want to stay on the dancefloor all night long! That good??? Yup! Not to forget Jackie, my Irish bartender! I ordered a cran-vodka and Mai Tai - both were perfect! Plus, staff is friendly and nice , from the bartender to the bouncers! Molly MaGees, you amazed me (that night)! Oh did I tell you about, Jackie, the Irish bartender? read more

I tend to like Irish bars; I can't help it. Maybe it reminds me of my short time in Ireland? Everyone was sooooo nice! When I was younger, I used to come for the dancing. You could find plenty of sleazy guys, or drunk girls dancing the night away. It was an okay place I guess. Now, we stop in rarely and sit in the outside section. While I don't love the several televisions (sports people would), I like getting some fresh air. The selection of beers is decent. The selection of wine sucks. My husband only gets Bushmills. The crowd is certainly a mix of young, old, professional, and local. I would say this place is for guys who love to catch a game in a bar or for young people trying to pickup on one another. You won't find me here for either, but I'll gladly take some of the time between. read more

Molly Magees - Football everywhere . . . in case that's your thing. - Irish Pub Near Me - Mountain View, California

I like this place. Lots of fun dancing, good mix of music. The long bar area can get kinda hectic, because its a little narrow and packed. But when we finally got our drinks, the bartender never came back to give us our bill. We waited there with our drinks at least 5 minutes, but when she never came back to our side, we went to the dance floor to enjoy our free drinks lol. They also have a patio area in the back, if you don't like being on the dance floor, or being in the crowded bar area inside. Downtown Mountain View is a nice alternative to the downtown SJ scene. read more

Went here on a Saturday night and just wasn't feeling it. $5 cover was a waste. I think my friends and I stayed here for a grand total of 20 minutes before we left to go else where. Drinks were strong, I'll give them that. Decent prices too but that was their only saving grace. The crowd that night was...definitely a mix. Wasn't feeling the old school music. Wasn't feel the small dance floor. They had a patio area where you can order drinks and smoke. I'm not a smoker so this didn't really appeal to me. This was my first time here and will be my last. read more

Went here last night (a saturday) and honestly it was pretty lame. Ordered a sidecar from the bar, but it wasn't very good. Spent 90 minutes being bored on the dance floor because the DJ sucks. He seemed to want to play just a little bit from many different popular songs, but what wound up happening is that he'd play the parts with lyrics that everyone would recognize (though these are not necessarily very danceable) and then once the beat dropped (i.e. became danceable), he'd change it. You never had more than 10 seconds in a row of music that you could really dance to. Also the dance floor is cramped, so you spend your time bumping into other people more than anything else. Pretty sure that I'll never go back. read more

Bartenders- FIVE STARS Drinks- FIVE STARS Service- FIVE STARS Bouncers/security -FIVE STARS I always feel safe coming here. Absolutely Love this place. I always have a great time here no matter what day of the week it is. (There will be cover charge on Th-Sat after 9:00 pm) read more

A dive bar that does well due to location, similar to Patio in Palo Alto. I ordered a Blue Moon here and the male older bartender didn't include the orange slice. That's the sign of a true dive bar. The patrons here are the types that "save" seats during busy game days and then leave for 30 minutes. It's fine for a beer on a quiet night but I wouldn't be caught dead paying a cover for this place on a weekend. read more

Honestly was kind of boring to me. It was crowded and my drink kept getting knocked every where and the music wasn't my style really. I live in Mountain View and have been to Molly's many times. I've never been happy with their service, especially the women bartenders (so rude and could care less about customers) but they had a DJ so we would go for an hour or two. After last night I will NEVER visit this crapy place again. It was St. Patty's Day so we went to Moly's to have a few drinks. They had a cover charge of $10!! Why? Well because everyone wants to go celebrate this day at an Irish Pub so Molly's decided to take advantage of everyone! We paid and went in. It was packed and the service was crapy as always. Then they served us our beer in plastic cups which are smaller than their regular glassware. Rip Off. Go to Mervyn's Bar, they have stronger, cheaper drinks and the bartenders are great!! read more

Alright, so I've been here several times now. I'm writing this review based on my overall experience. +Security is always nice (to me). +The bar is of nice size. +Large selection of beers and spirits. +DJ is cool and friendly. +Mixed crowd. +There's little booths by the pool tables. -/+There's an ATM inside, but it's a dinosaur and it may take a few tries to insert your card for it to process. Takes ages to spit out your cash. -/+Entry fee is $5 before 10pm and after it is $7. -DJ plays the same music over and over. Weekend after weekend. -Gets suppppper crowded. Squashed like a sardine can. Can barely get my dance on some nights. -Bartenders are sometimes rude. -Bartenders tend to pour short. -Dumbass people on the dance floor. -Sloppy people barfing all over the place. -There's no food. Not even some damn fries or cheese sticks... Last weekend, on Saint Patrick's Day security turned my friend away from coming in because he had green sweats on. I'm sorry, but you guys let a guy in with green basketball shorts on. Wtf?? I thought all sports attire was banned? Security needs to be consistent. A chill place to hang with friends, but not always my cup of tea. read more

Avoid this place at all cost. There are many decent and actually fun places in the area. The only reason this bar is still in business is its prime location, other then that, its a pretty outdated venue in all senses especially in the way they treat people. Not only the music is like a broken radio from the 90s, their employees who are mostly locals act like assholes and who don't know any better than to harass people for no good reason. Spend your money wise. read more

Go on your birthday and get a free drink, or two! They are super nice..but don't have some stuff that I really like. I know it's an Irish pub, but you'd think that anyone can make a mojito..I guess I was wrong. I asked the bartender to make me something good, being a girl she made me a fruity drink. She made me a malibu pineapple and it was actually delicious! It's a cool little bar off Castro with a few pool tables and a small dance floor, definitely worth checking out if you want a chill place where you can sit for a long time and chat with a friend or something. read more

Love this place but you have to know what you're getting yourself into! Molly MaGees is an awesome pub, which turns into a "club" (I'm using that word loosely) on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. A lot of the bars around Mountain View are a little pretentious (looking at you Steins) but this place is my go-to for a down-to-earth, raging night out with girlfriends. It can be sticky and the bathrooms get gross but hey, it's a dive. What are you expecting? A good place to pregame out in the back area, and then stay all night through the dancing. Bartenders are mostly Irish and super friendly (and kept the strong drinks coming all night). If you're adamantly against paying a cover (I am. At least in the Bay Area) then come earlier and you won't need it. If you're looking for a classier pub experience, go next door to St. Stephen's Green. read more

Went here with three friends on a Friday night whim, and was already excited when I heard some rap classics from the 90's and early 00's playing inside. Upon entry however, we were informed cover is cash only (which is fine, that seems to be the norm in most places I've been) but when we fell a dollar short, the woman taking cover told us she will not accept quarters. Absolutely baffling because she was sitting right next to a cash register, so it's not like storing quarters would be a pain for her. This is especially frustrating since cover is $7, which is a really odd number to have in cash. I ended up having to leave the bar and ask someone having a smoke outside for a dollar. Drinks were pricey, but the bartenders were nice and attentive and made my drinks really strong, which I appreciated. Just beware that most mixed drinks are served in an 8 oz tumbler and will cost around $10. As the night went on however, the DJ started so censor the songs by scratching over the cuss words. Last I checked, this club was 21+ and it was 1 AM on a Friday night... This ain't high school prom, dude. read more

Typical pub. A little bit dark and dingy. Chill vibe. I got a wine with a very generous pour.

Nice selection of beers and a pool table. This place becomes a hybrid club/pub thing on Fridays. Is that even allowed? Pub club? It gets them visitors and $ but you drive away your regulars who just want to chill and chat in a spacey dive bar. And here's where we take the plunge. $5 cover not on the weekend? Come on bruh. Rude, unfriendly, selectionist bartender? Check. I hope he's not the owner - owners have a much better sense of customer service. He's usually there though, and given the aforementioned money-oriented policies (versus ambiance-oriented policies), he probably is the owner. I'm taking my friends and my $5 to St. Stephens next door. That's one more beer and one less headache. read more

A friend and I went to watch the Warriors vs. Clippers game 7. With that being said the tv setup is great. They had a lot of tv's broadcasting the game within a few feet of each other and a bonus big screen by the dance floor. The vibe of the crowd was laid back. Once the game ended the security guys cleared out some tables and it apparently turned into a nightclub! The tv's remained on with preprogrammed music video mixes which people started getting turnt up to! By people I mean a bunch of your typical tech guys. Their dance moves alone is what bumped this establishment up to 4 stars. read more

Despite the reviews I've seen, Molly's is my go-to place. On Fridays and Saturdays they open the dance floor up and have a live DJ. I enjoy going here because although it is crowded it isn't a huge club where you might lose your friends. There's also a cool lounge area in the back with TV's. The only reason it doesn't get a 5/5 is because if you are expecting a high-class 5 star bar, this isn't the place for you. It's a laid back dive bar with a good selection of drinks and overall fun place to hang out with your friends. read more

First of all, Molly MaGees had a $7 cover charge. As a visitor to Mountain View from FL, I was shocked that a bar had a cover charge (for 21+ patrons). Although the bar was playing some catchy 90s and 00s throwbacks, that's really all it had going for it, in my opinion. Beers were overpriced, and the bar didn't seem too popular or desirable to the Mountain View locals, as there were only about 50 people total at a bar that can probably hold next to 300. Unfortunately, not the best. read more

Stumbled upon this bar on a random Monday night and ended up having a great time. The bar is big inside and clean. It didn't have that musty smell like an old dirty kitchen rag's been sitting out for years waiting to clean its next countertop. I HATE that smell that restaurants or pubs usually have. This one didn't have it, thank goodness..and I KNOW you know what I'm talking about. The bartender was really very nice and accommodating. It was empty so we got our drinks right away, and he already knew what drinks we were having without having to ask each time we went up to the bar for another round. We didn't go out back to check out their patio since it was cold out but will be back soon I'm sure to get the whole experience. Oh, and the bathroom's pretty clean too, big star for that one! Great place to go when you feel like just hanging out and having a good time. read more

Food: (standard $5-6 beers, good selection) Service: Difficult on St Paddy's Price: $3 specials everyday (of course, unless it's St Paddy's) They charged $10 cover (but so did the Irish Bar next door) on St Paddy's. Saving grace: the music. A good mix of hip hop/80s/techno/70s dance music. There's a bar area at the entrance, a dance floor in the middle, and a seating area with pool table near the back. Behind the bar is a patio area that is technically outside, so you have the smokers hanging out at the two bars back there. I hate smoke, and all the sudden felt like I was back in Seattle after that night with smoke on my clothes. Blue Moon and my first Irish Car Bomb since 2005 - it was a fun night! read more

Molly MaGee's is getting better. I back in 2003-05 I was a real regular here. I would come in and stand on the patio with my buddies. We'd drink beer after beer and do shot after shot and have a grand old time. Towards the middle of 2005 though the bar's scene started to change. The place started to fill up with muscle-bound douche bags wearing affliction t-shirts. They'd be grinding on low class chicks with bad attitude in the bar. It was pretty gross. We quit going there. Recently I've started to visit Molly's a bit more and it's again starting to feel like a local bar. Even on a Friday or Saturday night now the place seems to be a little more Mountain View than it used to be. That having been said, the place still has a long ways to a go. They should try to appeal more to the sensibilities of their local clientele. I'm sure they'd benefit. Douche bags still abound on the weekends. read more

We headed to this place after dinner. And dinner consisted of margaritas so we were already riding off of a buzz, well at least I was. The great thing on a Saturday night was that there was no cover, happy about that. My friends ordered kamikazes all around and it was pretty lame. Not much in terms of taste, pretty weak, which is sad. They were playing some hip-hop music and there's a small dance floor. The music was acceptable to me, but a friend of mine didn't care for it too much. So we stayed shortly but left soon after. It was kind of sad as the security guard was moving tables and chairs around and it was around 10:30 or 11. I'm sorry, but the place should be ready at that time of night. The overall crowd wasn't too bad, pretty mellow but the drinks were lame and there was little incentive to stay. And a female friend said the toilet in the ladies' room wasn't draining. Nice! Classy! Not a snob here, but it could and should be better than this. Better luck next time! read more

It's a regular good old fashioned bar. If you come early enough you can grab a tray of peanuts and make a shell mess on your table while drinking beer. That always ends up giving you the best sh!ts. You know, the sh!ts that you think are a fart, but you go and lay down two seat covers in the bar toilet anyways, let one go, and are happy you did. It comes out almost liquid, with chewed up peanuts mixed with coagulated and digested beer. It's almost diarrhea, but it's not. That happened to me while I was here. I was pissing between two other dudes in the trough. I crossed streams with both of them, it was kinda like a lightsaber fight, but actually more like the streams from the Ghostbusters guns. I had to let one rip, I mean, what with all the Coors light I was drinking, I am know to crop dust horrible, death-inducing bouts of gas. My stomach was kinda bubbling, so I headed right to the piss-covered toilet. The toilet is a bit cleaner than a gas station toilet, but paper towels and water are provided if you need to mock clean the thing. The door locks, so you can deuce in semi-privacy. Your friends will still notice you took longer than usual, though. All in all, it's a bar I feel comfortable dropping a deuce in. read more

Came here on a Friday night at 8ish and the place wasn't too packed. Unfortunately, there were only three bartenders. What? On a Friday night? And all of the tables were a mess, there were still a lot of empty cups just left on the tables, so there was no where to sit. We looked around and tried to get someone to clean it but there absolutely no one to help us out. My friends and I decided not to bother anymore and headed to another bar instead. I was in a group of ten...so their loss I guess. read more

I came, i got inked with a SEXY stamp (psh way to state the obvious HA jk), i left. Yes .Definately not a Irish pub. I went there on Saturday night. The DJ was really good and music was loud. Dance floor was full of people dancing. I am really not sure of quality of alcohol provided since we had 2 tequila shots, 1 rum shot, 1 Irish shot, 1 vodka shot, 1 whisky peg and a beer. Still we din feel like we are drunk. Usually I drink less than half of this and am dizzy. read more

The old bartender guy with the Irish accent will treat you like shit. I asked for a glass of water when buying a round of drinks and he said no because of some mumbled excuse I couldn't catch. Then he proceeded to ignore us the rest of the night. I will never go here again and if I could give this place zero stars, I totally would, which is definitely a Yelp first for me. Needless to say, the crowd appears older (late twenties kind of thing) and probably has no problem filling up and making it a profitable night. But it doesn't mean that guy wasn't a total jackass. read more
