I went there on Saturday night. The DJ was really good and music was loud. Dance floor was full of people dancing. I am really not sure of quality of alcohol provided since we had 2 tequila shots, 1 rum shot, 1 Irish shot, 1 vodka shot, 1 whisky peg and a beer. Still we din feel like we are drunk. Usually I drink less than half of this and am dizzy. read more

i've been here twice..and luckily, i always end up being served by the elder lady bartender. She's the bomb when it comes to lemon drops. One time i went there, she served my lemon drop in her own goblet that's 2x bigger than the regular glass they use for their customers. Of course she told me to be extra careful with it, because it's HERS. And who can decline that offer? I guarded it with my all!!- safely put on the table, in my hands... who can ever let go of that deliciously made, Lemon Drop? This place is pretty chill. I love the vibe. No pretentions. no dres to impress thingamajigg.. So Laid Back, which I love. They also have a pretty decent selection of beer. So after i hit my buzz level with the lemon drop (and her goblet), i switched to beer. I aint breaking no irish woman's goblet,... read more

My girlfriend and I (well mainly I) decided that we needed to flirt with some Google boys so I packed a bag and headed out for a Thursday night in the View. Little did I know how many people hit the town on a Thursday night. We were actually aiming for the Buddha Bar. But when when the bouncers told us that girls did not get front of line hops and had to pay the $15 cover we said F* that and went next door to Molly's instead. I always get confused when i find a bar that plays good hip hop, yet does not pull an urban crowd. But its fun to sit and watch white boys "dance." The outdoor patio is a nice escape for smokers and those who need to duck away from awkward men. I don't know how much the drinks are ( I didn't pay for any of mine - which not to sound shallow- but is always a good sign.) I strongly believe that the people you meet make the night and thus the rating. We met some hot ass guys and some crazy ass bitches. I went home with one of my new favorite stories to tell. So yeah, the bar is just a bar. And at the end of the night drunk people lurk outside hoping to find someone to "walk home." But what else could you hope for in a small town? read more

The best thing about this bar is their music and cheap drinks. On Saturday nights, the music is mostly hiphop with some pop mixes. The entrance fee is $5 and it get's really packed around 11:00pm. We got two cranberry goose, a crown-n-coke and a long island for $27. Not bad for top shelf... They got two full bars. One inside and one outside in the large smoking area. The worst part about this place is the environment. The overcrowded dance floor consist of musty armpits and smelly farts. Even the DJ sometimes would use his headphones as a face mask. LOL. The crowd are mixed of all ethnic backgrounds. Most people are in their 20's and even some in the 40's. It gets really ghetto here late night. Thugs starts to pour in and the bar gets less appealing. To summarize, Molly MaGees gets really busy on Saturday nights. Good music with attentive bartenders. Lack of space and overcrowded conditions means foul odor and human sweat in your face. read more

If somebody asked me ~ 1-2 years ago what I would rate Molly MaGees and whether I'd recommend a visit, I would have shouted a resounding, "HELL YES" and given it 4 stars, 2 snaps, a twist and a kiss. I would have recommended Thursday nights, Friday and even Saturday nights. An Irish pub with a dance floor (complete with disco ball and neon lighted floors) + an outdoor smoking patio? It's so ridiculous, it works. There was even an adorable Irish DJ (straight-up from the motherland), Seamus, and he'd spin Top 40/hip-hop/pop, take requests and even hold my bag/jacket behind the DJ booth. Molly's was the happy hour/"Thursday night is the new Friday night" place to be for my coworkers and me. We were Thursday night regulars and proud of it. And now, Molly's glory days are long gone. An era has passed. The once epic Thursday nights are now only tall tales, hearsay, passed down through generations of coworkers and friends. Seamus has moved on - no more Irish boy DJ. The crowd has gotten progressively shadier and nastier over time. (Sadly, some a-hole once followed me to my car and tried to pull something. Fortunately, I cussed him out and scared him off, that bastard.) *Sigh*. I guess it's true - All good things come to an end. read more

I'm sensing I should just stop going in places that call themselves an Irish Pub out here. Or maybe I should stop comparing them to the ones in Boston. Wandered in here after dinner on a Saturday night. Apparently we were lucky and missed the cover charge (should have read yelp first!). We sat down at the bar and... waited. And waited. Finally after about 10 minutes of sitting and looking expectantly at the bartenders we had to shout to get their attention and order a drink. It's not like it was even insanely busy either. No excuse. We basically just had one beer and left. There was nobody on the dance floor, very few people around the bar, and overall a rather unwelcoming feel from the staff. Also, I saw them "washing" the glasses behind the bar. I hope they were washing them in some special chemical because dunking the glass into soapy water followed by unsoapy water does not render the glass clean. Yikes. Buh disappointment overall. Glad I didn't pay to experience it. read more

Great pub to end up. Lots of good times with friends in the evening and great time on the dance floor. Time tested, Molly MaGees has been part of Mountain View for quite some time, lots of locals stop in, lots of new people show up as well. It has become a sort of default place to go when out in Mountain View for the night on a Thu/Fri/Sat eve. read more

Nice chill paid back place. Not the snooty snotty typical club scene. Every time I go here I am always relaxed and just have a great load of fun. Met some nice people here. I think its $5 after 9pm but not sure. Still thats pretty damn cheap for a cover charge. And they have a smoking area too! I love the bartenders - they are really friendly - a plus! Then the drinks and dancing. Mollys is my ultimate chill spot! ;-) read more

Molly's is a bar that I wished I liked more. When I think about going out in MV I always wonder, "Hey, why don't we go to Molly's more?" Then I go there and realize why... 1. The drinks are expensive and weak. Really weak. 2. They charge a cover on Friday and Saturday. Molly's is the only bar in MV that does this. Some people may try to argue that since the Monte Carlo and the Buddha Lounge or whatever it's called these days charge covers, Molly's should too but let me be clear - the Monte and Buddha are nightclubs (or at least as close to nightclubs as downtown MV gets) Molly's is a BAR. 3. Douchebagville. (Both male and female) In it's defense, the music is good and the patio is great. I don't mind going there during the week. read more

Met a friend here on a Wednesday night and liked how relaxed it was. Atmosphere is great and a good place to go during the week if you need a beverage. After 9pm they dim the lights and turn up the music. It's a little loud then but not too much that we changed locations. They have pool tables and a modern jukebox. They have a spacious bar and along the wall tables that are good for parties of two ;) Will return read more

Came on a Friday night. I enjoyed the music, the other patrons, and the bartenders. You could sit at the bar or choose a table. They had pool and I think an outdoor patio. I'll be back, but probably not until school is over. read more

I liked this place! I had fun. First off, it's *large* and *packed*. Two things you certainly want as the owner of the place, anyway. For the customers it also feels like the place to be, and at the same time you don't feel cramped and there's variety - you can camp out and talk girls (or guys) up at the bar, venture out onto the very popping and upbeat dance floor, or seek more exclusivity and fresh air out in the outdoor patio area. Nice drinks, fun and unabashed crowd (young and old both), people definitely looking and friendly to chat ^.^ read more

First things first: I have frequented this place about a half-a-dozen times. I must say this...the only appealing prospect here are the cheap drinks. The rest of the story would not be too appealing...The Bar Tenders are Old and sleazy...they don't care a darn about the people...They stand up their customers and keep chatting amongst themselves like high school kids excited about a new student in school! I have travelled the world as is my nature of work and there have been places are bar tenders who recognised me and have addressed me by name even the second time around(I'm Indian and we do tend to have long names but in-spite of that). Having said that, I must say they always had this blank stare at me (I'm human too you know). The Music is just about average; there's never a progression on how the DJ wants to play his tracks. He's playing a House track @ 128BPM and the next moment, he switches to Hip Hop at 86 BPM; not that I danced every night but you know, I'd expect a gradual progression when it comes to music. Hey DJ, get your music right dude! An Irish pub that plays House & Hip-hop only... The only reasons the place rocks at night is because people get high with the cheap drinks and then get onto the dance floor and do their thing. Smoking is now, not allowed inside even since the new order in June/July but the Management has not even considered putting an ashtray outside. There are cigarette butts all around the place. Now for the worst part - The restroom; I am pretty sure, there are a couple of corpses hidden somewhere in the Men's room, I mean, the place stinks like S@#$! Bottomline, if you going for the cheap drinks, this is your place, going on a date - HELL NO!!! read more

If you want to get all drunk & messy, come here! Save face over at St. Stevens, next-door. Smallest dance floor I have ever been to, in my entire life. The 1st time I went here was on a Friday night. I decided to watch the dancing as I drank my 1st beer. The dance floor was filled with people, couples with drinks in hand, bumping into other couples. One female was solo, just about every guy was watching. I believe she thought she was in the movie, Flashdance. As I think back on this, I was a bit fascinated, myself. I took to the floor after talking to a few guys, didn't strip or anything that I recall. Seemed to be a lot of guys looking about for some random girl that'll give him his latest STD. Nice beats, when I was there, don't know if same dj is still there. I went back a couple x's, with a b/f played pool in the day, it was nice, but the bartender gave us incorrect drinks, she said these we're 'better' than what my b/f ordered, that we did not want what we ordered. :-) read more

I've been coming to Molly's since they opened back in the late 1980s. There is a regular crowd (Piano Man playing in the background now, please) that goes there and they often have birthday parties on the back patio. Tuesday night liars dice can be a lot of fun. The bar tenders are, for the most part, are friendly and helpful. The security, expecially on Fridays and Saturdays, once they get to know you a bit (and you are resonably well behaved) will be friendly and accomodating. I like Molly's. I hope Yelp will not delete this review like they did of two other nearby places. read more

Bartender could not have been more indifferent to our existence and seemed put out to have to go through all of the trouble of pouring beers for us. Typically, I'm okay with indifference but I also just didn't want to deal with bullshit to drink. "Interesting" crowd too, saw a 60yo man making out with a chick who could have been his granddaughter. Which felt especially odd/convenient because they had a sign posted about sex trafficking (or something like that). Overall, real weird vibe but we hung out for a bit and watched a ballgame and then moved on without anything too negative happening to us. This would probably be 2.5 stars if they'd let me. read more

Molly MaGees! I rather enjoy this place mostly for its drink specials! I always love a good bargain and this place gives you a different one every night =) The bar as a whole is a pretty chill place- people from all walks of life congregate here every day of the week to drink and be merry. The bar tenders are friendly and attentive. On the other hand, there are some funky people that also show up at times- like the one guy that was trying to pimp on his girlfriend to one of my guy friends haha. Overall I come here if I'm the area and just want somewhere to go and hang out with friends. Cheap drinks is always a plus! read more

Molly's is classic! Every Thursday you are guaranteed to: 1) See some higher-up do a shot 2) Get hit on by a co-worker 3) Dance foolishly in the middle of an empty dancefloor Hmmm, you are probably wondering either where do I work or how big of a lush am I... The answers are yes and yes. read more

I gave this place two stars just because my friends were there and I enjoyed that portion of it, overall the place is not that enjoyable. It's festive, but hmmm... the crowd was so so. What I mean by that is ummm...don't bother trying to dance, because it's like a locker room. BLECH! If I wanted that I would just go workout instead. The drinks weren't that great also. I think I ordered like one drink which was pretty watered down. I know the point of going out is getting hit on by people you may not enjoy hanging out with, but please please read signs -- if I don't look at you at all that usually means I'm not interested. Sowwwwyyy not to be mean and all but I'll have a nice chat with you but don't expect anything beyond that. :D read more

So Mark T. and I come here to burn some time so we can hit up Palo Alto Bowl cuz they won't let us start till 11. The music playing is pretty fun. I didn't know tho that this guy on the left Dj's here when he isn't performing (http://www.ruminator.com/images/ON05/PennJillette2.jpg) I kept wondering when his lil buddy would come out and dance. Oh yeah...cover for this place?!?! read more

The reason i gave 2 stars is because they music was decent and the bartender made good drinks. Not that nice inside but that part didnt matter to me. Everyone is pushy inside kind of pissed me off very very hard to get around to places feels like forever. Mix ethnic groups is always a plus in my book. dance floor was pretty small at least to me because i been to clubs where they had bigger. some old guy try to touch my friend john ( i got cho back man) girls were shady another day for no love for the asian guys. read more

This place is absolutely disgraceful. Every member of the staff was incredibly rude, and when my girlfriend tried to address this, one of the female bartenders called her a "nigger". She is indian by the way, so even their racial slurs are incompetent. This bartender, (who refused to give us her name) should be fired immediately. read more

Molly Magees - Irish Pub Near Me - Mountain View, California

Not a bad place for friends to get together for drinks and a game of pool (if you can ever get to the table). They have a dance floor, but it's rather small and seriously dinky. There is an outdoor patio area which can be pleasant, but once the crowds start filtering through, the whole scene can get rather obnoxious and college-like. read more

Not as cool as St Stephens but definitely better for large groups. They've got Guinness, pool and few tv's for sports. On the weekends it becomes a crazy meat market and tries at becoming a club. I prefer the chill back patio on "quieter" nights. read more

I have a good girl friend who lives in Mountain View, so I've been here a bunch of times. The outside patio area is a great place to drink and hang out with your friends. The dance floor varies in crowd. I've been here when the dance floor was dead, hella crowded and somewhere in between. The music is normally good. Mostly Top 40 and some mash up. Molly's is a good place to drink and do a little dancing, but I normally end up at Buddha Lounge next door as the night winds down. read more

Had a great time last night here! Mostly due to good company. The entrance was crowded and the line to get in wasn't organized at all, people were just clumping around loitering in the entrance hallway which caused a lot of chaos that could have been avoided if the bouncers/staff were more organized and cleared out the area better. So when I first entered, I was skeptical as to if the place would be ghetto or not. The cover was $5 which was reasonable, and once again that area was crowded as well. But once I passed the entrance hallway, things smoothed out better and there were more bouncers walking around the area. To the left there are a few lounge areas to chill with friends with, which was where i stayed for most of the night in the beginning. It was clean and comfortable, and spacey enough for my 10 friends and I to all sit in and relax there. I enjoyed lounging there a lot, there was enough privacy away from the dancefloor to actually have conversations with too which was cool. The bartender that served me was quick and nice, gave him a good tip. When I headed to the dance floor with some of my friends to dance, it was extremely crowded that night. The DJ wasn't that great, just ok. But it was still fun, and the floor lighting up with different colors caught my attention a lot haha. (like in that Michael Jackson MV :) ). Didn't get harassed by many creepers which gives this place another star up! The crowd was diverse, and the ambiance was nice. I'd definitely go again with my friends! read more

molly magees is an self-acclaimed irish pub. seems the irish aren't drinking the guinness (5) though, it seemed flat to me. there's sixteen other draughts to choose from, plus the daily beer (heinken, 3.25) and cocktail specials(kamikaze, 3.25). every day has a different (mondays, stella and lemon drop, ?$)special. etc. place is huge with lots of tables. daytime is quiet with just a few patrons. evenings heartell is a madhouse. patrons & bartender friendly, beer lukewarm. (actually not very cold). read more

I was doubtful at first how an Irish pub turned nightclub would turn out but to my surprise it was really fun. There was a lot of great dance music & everyone seemed like they were having a great time. It's only $5 cover on Fridays & Saturdays. Parking wasn't even hard to find at all. They had a wide variety of drinks & the bartenders were quick to respond to your order. All in all, I have to say it was a great time. Just the bathrooms were kind of gross =( read more

Came here on a Saturday night. Music was ok. The DJ wasn't spinning it that well though. Some of the songs weren't really songs that you could dance to. I would have loved some more old school than EDM. The place was crowded. Super crowded. read more

This is a dive bar. On weekday nights it's very empty. On weekends they get a bigger crowd for the dance floor. The dance floor gets really sweaty and involved. On weekends there is a cover so beware. This is very divey so don't bother ordering any fancy drinks: get the beer on tap or a vodka soda. read more

Came here with a bunch of girlfriends on a Thursday night, bouncers and bartenders were nice but the DJ sucked big time. Our large group of friends were basically the only ones really dancing and kept requesting some 90s/2000s hip hop and were told it was coming but seriously we were there for about 1.5 hrs and he maybe played 3-4 songs. He also played each song forever before moving on. One of the worst DJs ever. Seriously, if it was a large crowd on the dance floor then of course I understand them catering to a mass group but when your main group tells you they want to hear something play it dammit! read more

Reviewing the overall experience. Went on a Thursday. Pros: -Daily drink specials -Not crowded, able to find a seat and chat with friends -DJ plays decent music: top 40 and hip-hop -Younger crowd: 20s Cons: -I don't like any of the drinks they have specials on -Creepy guys that stare at the girls on the dancefloor -Nothing great about their beer selection Bottom line: More like 2.5 stars. Been here a few times, more like out of default. Good on a Thursday when you just want a beer and chat with your buddies, other than that, just an average pub. Although, pubs don't really play hip-hop... read more

So after escaping the loud music at Stephen Green's we went to Molly Magees...music slightly less loud but odd that again, club like atmosphere in a supposed pub. Cover was 5 bucks as well. We just ended up getting a drink since we paid to get in. So...we drank our beers while watching the monitors w/ music video on it. We did talk a little but we were basically yelling. Also, an "eclectic" mix of people here to say the least. I tried escaping ghetto san jose scene and I felt that it followed me here. We chugged our beers and then my bf suggested to go to a REAL pub place...Duke of Edinborough...much better. Again, what the hell is going on w/ pubs that turn into a night club? read more

The sister bar to Fibbar Magees. It appears that the bouncers and bartenders filter between the two venues, and they have the same drink specials. While Fibbar Magees is quieter, this is more crowded. Maybe too crowded - it appears to be one of THE spots to go in downtown Mountain View. $5 cover on weekends, but that appears to be standard. Other than that, it's fine. More guys than girls, but hey, this is the South Bay and all. read more

Whenever me and the boyfriend have dinner in Mountain View, we always stop by Molly MaGees first to get the evening started. Very laid back atmosphere and cheap drinks. HDTVs by the bar always playing the current main game. Bartenders are attentive but leave you alone. It's a bit like a "dive bar" or "hole in the wall" I guess in comparison to some of the lounges on Castro Street but that's definitely one of the reasons why I like it there. I've always just stayed by the bar, but they also have a pool table in the back and apparently the back opens up outside. Molly MaGees will definitely continue to be a staple during our nights out in Mountain View! read more

My friends and I went on a Thursday night to try to check out the Mountain View nightlife scene. We first started at Zen which wasn't too bad, but it got a lot better as the night got later. I definitely enjoyed the music played at "Molly MaGees" a lot better than Zen Lounge. Zen Lounge is the typical hip hop and R&B crowd where as Molly MaGees (that night, and that DJ) played more of a mainstream type of music. I definitely enjoyed the mainstream music a lot better. I also enjoyed that we could get a pitcher of beer at Molly MaGees and play some drinking games. Pros: - Mainstream music - more of a beer drinking location Cons: - older crowd read more
