My family lived here in Paris for 2 years, so we do not consider ourselves tourists. I definitely would've viewed this place as a tourist trap had I not read the outstanding reviews... and had a kid who really wanted a burger. The burger and fries were excellent, as were the grilled veggies with burrata and the spinach ravioli, which my husband and I shared. We loved that we could sit inside air-conditioning on a very hot day. There were plenty of tables, including booths, and it is a very large place. But the best part of all was the bathroom, which has a Star Wars theme! You cannot miss it! There is a cruiser and the individual stalls have magical doors that slide up and down. This place was a bummer. We were not fans of the chicken caesar salad and pepperoni pizza. The breading on the chicken tasted stale and the pizza was overpowered by oregano. We normally finish our plates because we hate wasting food, but we weren't up to the task at Mokus l'Écureuil. Professional pizzaolis prepare the dough and ingredients sparsely but sufficiently placed on each pie. The oven is a show with pizzas going in and out with skill. Where Paris has an unfair hand in the Neapolitan pizza war is in their ingredients especially the cheese. Not quite life changing but damn that's a good pizza. It's a short (but somewhat steep) trek uphill from the river but only around the corner from the Trocadero. Mokus is very spacious inside with lots of seating for large groups and plenty of booths. Three of us chose single-serving pizzas and one went with a pasta! The Parma, Pepperoni, and Diavolo were all very flavorful and the dough had the perfect amount of chewiness. None were pre-cut so that was a small struggle but tbh I just half ripped with my hands. It was late and I was hungry, ok. We were looking for some sort of spice and the server offered an infused olive oil. Yo that stuff is bomb. I can't tell you what it's infused with, but I'd definitely ask for it on your visit! After giving another so called restaurant a 1 star earlier today and right around the corner from this place, we have a really great restaurant here. They are open continuously all day unlike many restaurants that close for a few hours after lunch. The staff speaks English and has English menus available. The dining room was nicely spread out and the ac was actually cold. You know how many restaurants in Paris are tiny and the tables are on top of each other, not the case here. Same with the ac and fans that actually kept the place nice and cool, unlike many places where you sweat when you eat. The pizza came out of a proper big pizza oven and the ingredients were quality and tasted like it. The bathrooms looked like a space ship. And I know small details but the toilets were american size,not the tiny space saving toilets common all over Europe. Wrapping up a full day of walking around paris and going to Stade de France to watch the much anticipated match of Italy vs Spain (AZZURI!)I was ecstatic to see the italy squad pull off a victory and after an extremely crowded subway ride, we made it back to the area of where the hotel was. I did a quick yelp search and found this joint offering up delicious pies and it felt fitting for the victory we had just watched. The place has a cool vibe and has plenty of seating with views outside and inside the joint. They had a big projector screen playing the Iceland game so I was appreciate of that too. You cannot miss this joint because of the red neon lights outside the joint spelling out the name. The interior of this joint is a low key and relaxing environment. The servers were all friendly and cheering along the italia victory based on our azzuri jerseys. After a bit of perusing, decided on a bottle of vin, a caprese salad, and the parma pie. The vino was delicious as is all vino in paris while being quite reasonable from a pricing. The caprese and parma pie came out quickly. The caprese was superbly fresh and tasted great. It was light and made me feel healthy/not guilty for digging into the parma next. The parma was solid with the crust being delicious. The way they cooked it was really delicious and the entire pie was devoured. This was the perfect wind down meal for a soccer day and the prices were super reasonable for everything.
