Did the Omakase for my wife's birthday and it was wonderful. Price was well below the typical Omakase around Boston. Allen, the chef and owner was very personable and funny. It was a very quaint place. They reuse the the Uni packaging boxes in various ways which we thought was cute, fun, and eco-friendly. Had a great experience. Based on the quality of fish we had at the Omakese, the regular menu should be very good as well. Would definitely come back to try the regular menu. read more

First time coming here. Nice atmosphere with good sushi. The owner Alan was very nice and had me try their miso soup which was also very good. Service is excellent. Will be back again! read more

Appreciate the edited response by the owner since the 1st was inconsiderate yet consistent with the treatment in the restaurant. We looked online for reservations and the only mention of reservations required was for omakase 1230pm and 830pm, which we were not there for. When you walk into the restaurant it's immediate into dining space and there is nothing that directs customers "please wait here to be seated." In effort to not be in the way of the server or customers we proceeded to the sushi counter where 2 seats were available so we sat. In my experience sushi bars seats are typically 1st come 1st serve so we did not feel as though we were making a rash/rude decision nor bypassing rules so your claim "you sat youselves" doesn't work for me. As long time Wakefield residents we appreciate local small businesses which is also part of the reason we chose your place for a special occasion. Instead of saying you're surprised we didn't make a reservation for a special occasion, perhaps "we are grateful you chose us for this special occasion" would have been a more respectful response. As for your comment that we sat ourselves and didn't have a reservation "so we didn't have an agreement" the concept of a required agreement between a restaurant and a customer who presents during business hours to order food off the menu that is available is a very strange statement. Despite your 2nd effort to "not blame us" for the incident, you continue to fail to just own it, & apologize. Acknowledgment, and communication with us would have prevented all of this. Unfortunately we will not be returning nor be able to speak positively to others about our experience. read more

My husband and I, we are very picky when it comes to sushi . We came across Mojo a few weeks ago and it is kind of far from where we live. But we thought we would give it a try regardless of the distance. I can tell you, both my husband and I were blown away by their sushi. Their sushi is at another level. I wish I lived close by so we could visit Mojo every day . Mojo is definitely the kind of restaurant that I would recommend to my friends and bring my family here. The sushi chef and the staff were very friendly too. read more

Outstanding sushi spot. Freshest fish I have ever had. Chef was fun and inviting. We sat at the bar and chatted with him and all the staff. We will definitely be back! And I can't wait! read more

Food is spectacular. Fresh fried softshell crab roll was particularly good. Sat at the bar and watched the magic happen

Disgushingly deliscious sushi. I can't rave ENOUGH. Allen is a handsome menace at the bar and delivered the best nigiri I have had in my goddamn life. I made this account for this man. he changed my life. I am crying as I am writing this because I am still thinking of that char nigiri that slid down my throat so effortless. Closest thing to feral I have ever been. read more

MOJO Sushi is truly an experience. First of all, you can't beat the omakase at a $90 price point for 14 courses. On top of that, the sushi is unbelievable. I think I have to say - the best sushi I've ever had in my life. Yes, really. Even the vegetarian sushi options are so well-executed with the freshest ingredients and delectable flavors. Then add the fact that Alan, owner and chef, is very personable and entertaining. I've really enjoyed sitting at the sushi bar for omakase as he truly makes it an experience. The restaurant itself is small and quaint, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. To put this into perspective, we travel about an hour to dine here, and we are happy to do it for the amazing experience we continue to have each time we visit - it's really that good! Also, don't sleep on the green tea cheesecake. It comes directly from Japan (like much of the fish) and is absolutely divine! I just visited today and truly cannot wait to visit again soon. read more

Mojo Sushi - spicysalmon maki and soft Shell crab roll - Sushi Bars Near Me - Wakefield, Massachusetts

Mojo Sushi is an incredible gem in greater Boston and one of the best Japanese restaurants in area. The food is incredible... so fresh, flavorful and expertly crafted. The owners are so friendly and welcoming - they seated us right before closing and were so accommodating. The restaurant is intimate and highly recommend getting a seat at the bar to have the chance to chat with the owners. We got a spicy tuna hand roll, soft shell crab roll, hamachi maki, salmon avocado maki, Hokkaido uni nigiri, veggie oshi sushi, and a salt broth udon with tempura vegetables. Everything was delicious with every detail thought through, including real fresh wasabi (!!! IYKYK) The Hokkaido uni was incredibly fresh and the perfect bite. The hamachi was simple and delicious. The salt broth udon was clean, rich and complex yet light. Those are just highlights, not to understate how great everything else was. If you live north of the city, it's going to be hands down the best Japanese you will find; if you live in the city, it's worth the trip out to Wakefield, I promise. read more

Great sushi and lovely service. Small dining area but they do a lot of to-go orders so it's the perfect healthy option when looking to stay in for the night read more

Mojo Sushi - a piece of salmon on a black plate - Sushi Bars Near Me - Wakefield, Massachusetts

The best sushi Ive ever had, nothing even comes close. The fish is so fresh. One thing I love is that they have many unique kinds of fish that you don't see anywhere else. The main sushi chef and owner is a really good human, you can tell he's so passionate and he's also just nice to be around. His wife is no-nonsense, which I find authentic and reliable. It's great to be able to sit outside, but sitting at the sushi counter is a special experience too. I hope this restaurant has as much success as possible, they deserve it. read more

Mojo Sushi - Striped Jack Shima Aji (1pc) - Sushi Bars Near Me - Wakefield, Massachusetts

Holy mother of god that was one of the best meals I have had anywhere ever. This is Japanese on a whole other level. Don't even touch that soy sauce. Just be amazed by the masterpiece presented by the best chef on the north shore. I don't know how this maestro landed in Wakefield, MA of all places but am sure he will put it on the culinary map! Highlights were a fatty tuna toro and a torched avacado nigiri and RAMEN! You guys we have amazing ramen in the area now!!! The place is very small but they do have seating. Remarkably there was no line out the door yet so get a seat while you can. I need to go remove a star from all of my other reviews now because the bar was just raised. read more

Wife and I had a great time for our Omakase! Everything was fresh. Amazing how one Chef can serve 6 people for Omakase while making orders for normal customers in between! We will be back! read more

Unbelievably high quality sushi for Wakefield Mass! And in general. I'm a Wakefield native but currently live in California where there are plentiful high quality sushi options. This is on par with and better than many I've been to. Their omakase-style nigiri melts in your mouth! Also I went with my parents who don't eat raw fish, so I picked out many appetizers and rolls that suited their taste (like California rolls, tempura, etc.) and then circled them all on the take-out menu so they could order again :) There are limited indoor tables, but if I were going by myself or one other person I would sit at the bar. The patio is super cute too. While we were there a few people came in to pick up to-go orders so it's great for that too. Not am I excited to return the next time I'm in Wakefield, but I've been telling my friends in the area about MOJO Sushi as well. Don't sleep on this incredible Japanese restaurant! IT'S WICKED GOOD. read more

A solid new sushi outside of Boston in a cute little walk-around town. They offer an Omakase experience that I want to try the next time I am in the area. I got to preview one of the pieces and it SOLD me. The sushi I ordered was very good, and they menu was pretty large and had some other good options on it as well. The location is very small so probably works well for a booked experience, otherwise planning in advance or I imagine they do a lot of to-go orders. When I visited here, it had opened pretty recently, so there were a few small logistics hiccups that occurred, but our waitress was extremely accommodating and provided excellent customer service to make up for that which is super important for a new spot! I'm excited to see how it grows and what fun new sushi options and specials they offer. read more

Amazing local sushi spot! I have had the opportunity to try various sushi places around the country and mojo sushi does not pale in comparison to the best of them. Great balance of rice flavor, letting the fish shine, and various additional complements. Between the couple of times I've been here there are always new combinations that Allen is cooking up and suggesting! Service has been great and ambience is nice and relaxing! Everyone's tastes preferences are different but I'd highly recommend coming here at least once! The quality and taste here rival and are better than a lot of places I have tried that are more expensive. read more

Best sushi hands down. This has been on my list to try since it opened, and I'm so mad it took me this long. I was at a party yesterday that had platters from Mojo and it was fantastic. The flavors are complex, great presentation, super fresh high quality fish. Their special sauces are definitely unique. I loved it so much went tonight and tried the Toro which I highly recommend - special sauce is awesome. The owners are absolutely so sweet too! I forgot to take the pic before diving in, too good:) they have ramen too which I'm looking forward to try next time!! My new go to for sure. read more

Mojo Sushi in Wakefield, MA, is a true gem! The variety of fresh fish options is impressive, and the complexity of flavors in each dish is exceptional. I was blown away by the exceptional quality of the sushi shipped in from Japan on a regular basis. The menu offers something for everyone, from classic favorites to innovative creations. The presentation was visually stunning, and each piece was expertly crafted with fresh, flavorful ingredients. But what truly sets Mojo apart is the warm and welcoming atmosphere, thanks to the awesome owners who make you feel like family. You need to go here ASAP! The sushi was phenomenal and far exceeded my expectations! The quality of the fish was exceptional and the chef did a wonderful job adding just the right amount of other flavors to accentuate, but not overwhelm the fish. Service was a little slow, but we went the first week. The owners are very kind. I feel very lucky to have such a great new restaurant in our town! This is by far the highest quality sushi any north of the city. The taro chips are delicious as well! Such a tasty little treat! read more

Mojo sushi (and Allen) are incredible! My husband Blake and I moved to Wakefield from Los Angeles where we consistently enjoyed top notch sushi. We didn't think we'd be able to find it here - and now we can walk to Mojo! The fish is really fresh and Allen's nigiri creations are always the highlight. Absolutely the best sushi in the area (including Boston!) We tried 3 types of nigiri, and each was clearly made with quality, care, and attention. Fresh fish, perfectly cooked rice, balanced flavors. We also had a wonderful toro roll and a creative, umami-rich shiitake roll. The woman serving us and the chef were attentive and gracious. Highly recommend this cozy spot! read more

The food is amazing. Very great service and very funny as well. The seating makes for a social experience. 10/10 would come again.

Beautiful food. Clean cool atmosphere. We came here to get a quick bite before a show. It was pouring outside and we were the only patrons at 5pm. The owner was making the sushi. Started in Manhattan and then another ten years working in Boston. Nice people!!! My friend said the Rainbow ceviche was the best ceviche he'd ever had. A beautiful dish to start. I had the salmon starter with avocado, kuzu fruit and roe. Again- beautiful dish with richness and acid. Yummy. The spicy Kani salad was fabulous too. Then I had the soft shell crab roll. Fantastic! This is gourmet sushi, folks, and we can't get this over in western MA. Hope these guys continue to do well. They deserve it. read more

Very cozy little place. Food and service were great! The choice of sauce+ fish combo is a very pleasant surprise

This was my first sushi experience, and I honestly can't wait to go back. The place is small but impeccably clean, including the kitchen. Importantly, the sushi chef was very responsive when I told him about a particular food allergy, pointing out a few items that I wouldn't have guessed contained that allergen. He was also super engaging and funny, but not intrusive. As a group, we got spicy tuna rolls, yellowtail rolls, shrimp tempura rolls, shrimp shumai, and the tri toro nigiri set. All were wonderful, with particular emphasis on the torched toro nigiri, which had us ordering seconds and thirds. The fish was exceptionally fresh and very high-quality, and I was shocked that this restaurant isn't much more expensive than it actually is. I wouldn't call it "suspiciously cheap," but the value is excellent for the quality of the fish. Overall, this place is a wonderful gem; highly recommend! read more

Wow unbelievably delicious food and the chef Alan is a literal icon!!! Great Nigiri and great service.

The food was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. My order included the yellowtail and jalapeño appetizer, and the slices of fish were wafer thin and so tender! Although the online ordering app advised ASAP could mean 45 minutes, my order was ready in 20. The seating both inside and out looked very clean and cozy. I will definitely be back! read more
