Mojos has been recommended to us since we moved to the Lake Sunapee area as a nice apres ski place in the Okemo area. So on closing day for the 2016-2017 Okemo ski season, after several hours and many runs on soft snow, a superb time and quads burning, we decided it was time for a late lunch. Loved the place, quaint, totally casual, unpretentious and with good food. Their beer menu is ample and, being in Vermont, with a huge selection of local brews. We tried the Four Quarters beer from Winooski VT since that's where I went to College, as well as the Von Trapp black Lager from Stowe. Bothe superb. Then there was the lunch itself. We had the Tequila Pork Tamale, home made and delicious, although a tiny bit hard. And then there were the Carne Asada Tacos. Yum. Definitely a must-see place for a no-nonsense, home-style food in the area in the midst of locals, ski bums, tourists and travelers. read more

I was visiting my husband in Ludlow and he took me and couple of other friends to this restaurant. The place is not very big and there were very few tables followed by seating at the bar but it definitely is cozy. You have to order at the bar and py and then they deliver the food on the table. They serve only beer or wine so I definitely missed the having mojitos with mexican dineer but, oh well! The very first time I noticed as soon as I walked in, which is unique and neat, was the huge collection of different sauces from different brands set around the bar area that are free to try and some of them I tried for the very first time and they were awesome.We got chips and salsa platter for appetizer and I ordered Tequila Tofu Tacos and believe me when I say that those were the only veggie Tacos I had that did not have Fajita veggies and left burst of flavors in my mouth. I devoured it and ordered another serving for to go. Loved their unique concept, fresh and yummy food, quick service and friendly staff. The attention to detail is amazing! The decor, atmosphere, and physical facility was perfect. The music, which was rock and perfectly matching their theme, was just at the right volume. The food was excellent. Our party ordered burritos- shrimp, steak, and chicken. Everyone enjoyed the flavors of the meat. The burritos have beans, rice, meat, and good slaw. There was just the right amount of hot sauce in the burritos. Also, the tortilla was wrapped nicely so I never got a bite of just tortilla. I would definitely get it again. We also ordered poblano rings as an appetizer. Those are very similar to onion rings, but I think they are so much better. I highly recommend those too. About time I gave a review. I eat here all the time. Love the owners. Every time I come winter or summer I make sure to have 2 margaritas while I wait for my food (on the deck). I always meet great people to talk to. Tamale tonight was the best I've ever had, and I have had a few over the years. I also ordered the tofu bowl tonight, something I never do...awesome. Burritos are always great and my kids and wife love them too. Wings are excellent. Chips and home made sauces and salsas are great as is the selection of craft beer. Hope they move back to in restaurant dining once this COVID-19 nonsense is gone. The service and attention to detail on the food easily tells me to rate mojo as one of the best places to eat in all of Vermont. Don't forget the key lime pie, even if you are full. Mojo never disappoints. They have great flavors and textures in all their food. We had the taco salad today and the Ghost jerk snapper tacos. Both were excellent. The taco salad is huge and relatively healthy with lots of lean chicken and slaw. The snapper tacos had just enough ghost pepper to add some real flavor without any of the real heat you can get from that one. read more

Good Mexican food spot. Regarding alcoholic beverages, only seemed to have beers but had a good selection. Ordered the chimichanga, Thai taco, Nashville taco, and guac+chips. Food was solid but not the best Mexican food I ever had. When you are ready to order food or drinks, you have to walk up to a register to order and then return to your table. If you want more to eat or drink, you have to go back to the register (no wait staff). However it did have a good vibe / ambience to the place. The BEST!!! We order from here all the time. Amazing food. I've never had something I didn't love. This weekend I got the gulf shrimp gumbo for the first time and it was so delicious. So hearty and just enough spice to give it a kick without being overwhelming. I pretty much order anything with shrimp. It's always cooked perfectly. And don't even get me started on the poblano rings! I crave them and they aren't always on the menu so I make sure to get them whenever they are! The tortilla chips are seriously not your average restaurant chips - perfectly fried, salted, and spiced. I could eat the guacamole, queso, and salsa with a spoon! We got catfish tacos (my personal favorite) and Alligator Etouffe. The tacos were expertly prepared, but the Alligator was off the charts amazing. Served with their creole sauce, Voodoo Shrimp, and a roasted baguette, it had so many flavors to blow your mind. They have a great but small selection of beers on tap, and their decor is so fun and original. The staff provided friendly and quick service, and their bathrooms are neat! My boyfriend and I ordered the guac and chips, shrimp burrito, roast beef p.o. boy and I ordered 4 tacos. I ordered the pork, the shredded beef, the shrimp and the tuna tar tar. First off, the guac and chips were ok. I liked that they put a spice seasoning on the chips but the guac was kind of lack luster and very small portion. We paid $6 for a tiny guac! Not really worth it. We got our main course not too long after sitting. Thankfully we were there on a Saturday lunch and it was not crazy busy. The shrimp burrito was alright, nice and big for sure. My boyfriend needed to add some sauce for extra flavor but that could just be preference. He did get so full he only took one bite of the roast beef p.o. boy and took it home. He mentioned that the p.o. boy was pretty tasty! My tacos were overall good. My favorite was the shredded beef taco. Very savory and the favor was excellent! Would definitely get that taco again! The other ones were ok. The pork taco has a good flavor but the sauce on top didn't compliment the pork flavoring. Consider using picked red onions. Again, this could be a preference thing. The shrimp taco was not my favorite. Tried only one shrimp and got turned off. Wasn't a fan of how soggy the shrimp got (the shrimp are battered). The tuna was good but it was a cold taco which I didn't realize when I ordered it. Good favoring but it was a very juicy taco so the actual tortilla broke apparent instantly. So I kind of had to eat it with a fork. Overall good experience and would recommend. Call ahead to see how busy tho. It's a pretty small venue. read more

There is something about street tacos and ski towns that just works. Had the pleasure of stopping here after a long day of skiing. I knew I was going to love this place from the second I walked in. We lucked out and snagged the last big table before a huge crowd of people walked in. The place has a relaxed vibe and a diverse menu with unique ingredients that scream farm to table fresh. I went with a three tacos and a hard cider. The tacos were to die for. I opted for the brisket, carnitas, and shrimp. The shrimp was recommended to me. I was warned it was spicy... let's just say they weren't kidding. That sauce is no joke! My favorite was the brisket, flavorful and delicious. All three were great though! Great spot for a quick bite if you luck out and beat the dinner rush (if not the food is well worth the wait). Staff was very warm and friendly. When I walked in I was a little nervous because there is very limited seating and you order at the counter after an employee gives you a table. It was very busy but sooo worth the wait!! The food is amazing and even tho there isn't an actual server the service is excellent! You can order drinks at the counter or go get your own water out of the bubbler. Came early on a Friday afternoon. The guy at the register was incredibly nice - and we watched him continue to be kind and helpful as we ate our meal close by. We only had two tacos - as we are often skeptical about food like this....especially in Southern Vermont where it seems to always be particularly bad. Annnnd no surprise, these really weren't good. We had: Black Cat Taco - "Farm-raised Blackened Catfish filet, Cinco Verde Salsa, Local Greens, Pico De Gallo, Sliced Jalapeño, Cilantro, Lime" - This was the clear winner of the two tacos we ordered but still just a mediocre fish taco. Our biggest complaint - which was true of both tacos - was the tortilla. It was just awful. Dry, chewy, stale texture. The only time I have had anything remotely close to it was microwaving corn tortillas for too long, then letting the cool down to room temperature. If you have done this before - you know the texture is altered in a very bizarre way. I have no clue if theyre microwaving their tortillas, and frankly dont care if they do - just simply offering a possible explanation for the weird texture. The fish was cooked nicely. I have no clue why you would ever put spring mix on tacos...but...ok. Chicken & Molé - "Slow roasted Misty Knolls Chicken, housemade Molé sauce, Jicama, Cilantro, Queso Fresco" - Chicken was very tender but a little dry. The mole was weirdly sweet, definitely out of balance. Jicama is a nice texture in the taco. The tortilla was shit (see above), and...well there was no queso on ours (as you can see in the picture). This is our 2nd visit here. The 1st time was great, this time exceeded our expectations. The waitress and her trainer were very attentive. The steampots were the best we've had in the area. We visited Mojo's on a whim one fall evening, which just so happened to be their last open night before they closed up for a couple weeks before the winter rush. Because of our timing a few of the food selections we were hoping to try were already sold out (poblano rings, tofu), but the street tacos and nachos that we had were flavorful and delicious. The margarita was also excellent. The highlight of our visit was getting to meet Chris, one of the owner's aunts. She was cleaning tables and keeping an overall order and cleanliness to the place when she stopped by to ask us how our meals were. From there, we got to talking about her love of all things Aerosmith and Steven Tyler and more about her friends, family, and past and upcoming trips. She was a hoot and we look forward to future visits when we try more of their food options, and to hear some fun/crazy stories from Chris! The food was great here, but the service was really confusing. We arrived and were told that there was a wait for our table. However, they did not tell us to order first before being seated. Tables were empty but we were still waiting to see where they would seat us. Out of convenience, we just ended up sitting at the bar. The food was good tho the burrito bowl was small. I had the tequila lime tofu bowl. I asked tbe cook for the best hot sauce and he handed me ghost trace which ended up really burning my mouth lol. I thought i could handle spicy food but this was reallyyyyyy spicy. In the future, we would probably only order take out from here. Maybe an off night for this place, but the food was just meh. Had the Taquitos, which were decent, and my wife had the Drunkard's Ramen. Noodles were spaghetti. Broth was unremarkable. I had the El Caribe Burrito. Nothing special, a little bit of spice. Unfortunately, I think the food descriptions were more mouth-watering than the food itself. It's probably the worst Tex-Mex I have ever had but maybe the good ratings are because it's the only one in the area. After ordering we were able to easily find three seats at the counter which allowed us to see the food as they were making it. The chicken po' boy is outstanding and don't miss the poblano rings. All of the ingredients are fresh and local except the shrimp he orders special. I've had 2 different Gumbos. I thought the Vegan Gumbo was good until I had the Jerk Chicken. The Andouille sausage over powered the chicken a bit, but the flavor was amazing. One of the owners is the chef and has an assistant and both pay attention to every details as they fresh prepare each meal. My wife had the chicken burrito which was big for the price, well spiced, and excellent. The customer service is great and you can always find the owners chatting with a customer about food or music or the topic of the day. Also, the rotating selection of craft beers that are hard to find like Lost Nation and Zero Gravity. Local VT microbrews. Enjoy! read more
