Now, I'm the first person to admit that Mexican food is like a religion for me. That said, I've driven by Tacos Tacos a number of times and finally made it inside. And ironically, when getting out of the car, I had even said to my hubs, "It's really not hard to make a great taco...hope they don't screw it up." Now - the staff? Perfectly nice. The food? Perfectly packaged. As in, I don't know that anything they serve is fresh/in house. The tacos? Crispy shells only - and clearly store bought. The chips? Store bought. The guac and salsa? You guessed it - store bought. While the flavors weren't terrible (though the chicken was on the dry side, the fact that everything they do is something I could buy at the grocery store? REALLY disappointing. And more? I could buy and make at home for cheaper! 5 tacos, chips with salsa and guac with two drinks...close to $40...yeah, this was a one and done. TBH, if you want 'real Mexican'..just go down the street to Little Mexico. Have eaten here several times over the past four or five years and it has been really good. Today, not so good. The tacos were thrown together with little care, salsa and sour cream cost extra. The beef had a strange taste and left a bunch of grease in the bottom of the tray. Decided to have a churro after tacos and were told they take about fifteen minutes, had to pass. Ok tacos and burritos. The staff was great and I enjoyed talking with them. The food was ok, very run of the mill, Americanized tacos and burritos. I think they can come up with more of their own "flavor" and will be better. I do have to say the portions are ENORMOUS! I ordered a side of beans and cheese and it could have fed an army. We thoroughly enjoyed this delish, authentic (maybe that's what's with the crap reviews?!? People don't know authentic Mex?!?) Mexican while away from home! And shame on me for not taking pics!! All of the tacos, nachos & burritos we enjoyed were well cooked, perfectly seasoned and hit the spot for our fam craving our local Mex place at home in CT! Now... there was a line (usually a sign of GOOD FOOD!!) and we had to wait for a bit. But I'll stand by my rules... I'll wait for almost anything if it's local and tastes good!! Well done Taco Taco! For us, this was a quick stop on a busy 2967 mile road trip (in 14 days). Small, shop with a fairly decent variety of tacos; bright table covers! Congenial staff, decent food, quick service. BIG burrito - but was a bit wet and sticky on outside....likely steamed to freshen. Other items - slightly sub-par tacos - looked attractive but needed some creama and a bit more base filling (not lettuce and tomato). My husband had 3 beef tacos and liked them as well. Quick food - made to order! Friendly staff too! The only issue we had is the building is not accessable. Every time we travel through the Ludlow area of Vermont, we stop at Tacos Tacos for Mexican food. It is quick and easy to order - just keep in mind that it is cash only. This is a small restaurant and can get busy as well. I usually get a vegetarian burrito with the works, and it is nice and hot and very filling. Great for the middle of a camping weekend or when we want some dinner after a full day at the beach. There are a variety of items on the menu, from burritos to tacos to salads to sides. I came here after the first day of the ski season at Okemo and with no lunch, a tiny breakfast and being in the mood for quick tacos, I was ready for an experience. This is the perfect venue for a quick, inexpensive, and yet tasty lunch or whatever in an "early college" motif as young hipsters with ski head beanies, Grateful Dead T-shirts, Bernie bumper stickers, Burton board pants and Northface backpacks come in and start buying out the place and carry out the food to eat in the parking lot inside their Smart Cars, Kia Souls and Hyundai Accents. Actually, it gives the place an ambiance. I could even see Taco's Taco's opening up a second store at Killington, the universal Winter capital of the brash college demographics. Coming into Taco's Taco's it is actually a pleasant experience. The place is presentable, yet a little funky. The bathroom hand washing warnings are in Portuguese, there were wall tapestries made with coffee burlap bags from Medellin, window balances from Arizona, and backpacker, Vermont and ski-related bumper stickers on the wall, Comfortable kitschy. The number one thing to remember: This place is... yes... Cash only... Yes, repeat CASH ONLY - although there is a gas station with an ATM next door. However, when you sell your tacos at $2.65 each, every penny counts so I understand the policy. Coming in here, I found the young woman at the register to be exceptionally friendly and efficient. She had a six-person family right in front of me with an interminable order, which kept on changing as apparently the entire family was pursuing advance studies in drama. But she handled them superbly. Then it came time for my order. Three chicken tacos and their home made iced tea. Actually I thought it was quite good. Tasty chicken, good ingredients, nothing soggy or brown, and plenty of hot sauce at hand. The tea was superb, considering I eschew commercial carbonated drinks. I devoured the tacos and I could have had more but I remembered I still had an hour's driving ahead of me and didn't want to have a sugar low on the way home. Would I return? On a cold day when speed counts on the way back home from Okemo, yes. If I want a dining sit-down experience, not at all.
