    Pounded Yam with Egusi (fufu)

Food and service were great. The ambiance and decorations of the restaurant completed it. Staff were very hospitable, nice, and knew what to serve. We got 2 orders of fufu and egusi and 1 order of jollof rice and they were delicious, would definitely recommend.

Service was ok. I think there's better African food out here. The menu doesn't match what you'll actually be charged, meat in the egusi was extremely dry (beef and chicken) and they charge an extra $2 to make it spicy. Not flavorful at all. Can't judge ambiance because it was empty

Fufu & Egusi Soup with Meat was our fav!!!.

The Fufu & Egusi was To drooool for!!!!My family and I traveled to Miami from Orlando to try their fufu and egusi! It was sooo good, we tried another spot previously and it was a very interesting experience to say the least, and have not tired again until we had this place! The owners here I assume, greeted us and were very friendly! The gentleman knew exactly what we came for, we were a party of 3 and he said he would bring us the top three dishes and he did not lie, Everything hit the spot...soooo good!!!We had fufu with egusi, jollof rice with mixed meat and sweet plantains, and fufu with okra! If you want fufu and egusi and you're in the Miami area, TRY THIS SPOT, you will not be disappointed! They also had a cute pool table and my favorite Caribbean music on, I could not keep still, I wanted to just get up and dance!!!! There was a sink outside the restroom to wash your hands before and after, as things do tend to get pretty messy eating with your hands. I cant wait to go back!!!

Looking for authentic Nigerian food in Miami? Look no further.... A warm welcome as you enter the establishment. Menu is very simple as it should be. No fuss at all. The pepper gizzard is a must. I ordered the Amala and the egusi soup with assorted meats. The egusi comes with red stew. Fresh, right temperature, with perfect amount of spice. Obviously, no other way but to eat with your hands. Enjoy your food with afrobeat vibes. 2nd visit. Btw, takes me 2 hours to get here. Best spot in Miami.

I don't know why I keep giving them chance after chance. There's not many Nigerian restaurants to order from in Miami. I order once before in hopes that it was just that day but months later and I mean months later I order again and this is what I received first off where is the the to top it off I asked for a chicken they give me these hard, big old, tough pieces of chicken and also a different type of meat that I did not know what it was. It was so bland and again where is the go? This is literally how my bowl arrived. The woman that answers the phone. She's such a bitch like she is so damn rude like the last time I called as well just to get some influence on what I should order very rude. Then this time when I called to make sure that they had a certain item she was rude. I called back to tell her about my meal. She was rude, but then a gentleman got on the phone and I will say he was very nice and he told me I can come back and pick up food, but I'm absolutely done with them.

My friend, a Nigeria-born and resident of Germany came to visit America for the first time and we decided to hit Miami (my first time visiting MIA also). We kinda wanted something homey our first day in, so we decided to try Moji. I went for the Efo with pounded yam, and he got the Egusi. There was only one waitress and the restaurant was completely packed out. From start to finish, it took us 2.5 hours to eat at this place (we waited soooo long to place the order and to receive it). The reason I even mention that is because if you're trying to have a quick lunch break, this isn't the place for that (I'd suggest calling your order ahead). The waitress, a young lady (sounded like she was possibly from London) was very sweet and tried her best to get everybody's order, so I give her efforts a 10 Now the atmosphere is chill, they have Afrobeat playing in the background. They have a sink to wash your hands before you eat. They have two restrooms available to the customer. So about the food. I was impressed that the dish comes with both beef and chicken (score)! My efo riro had a very strong unusual smell (sort of like Parmesan cheese) and the Spinach was cut into big chunks (a lot bigger than any place I've ever been to). The beef was tender, the chicken was a little rubbery. The flavor was okay despite the aroma. I gave my dish 3.5 out of 5. So my friend gave his Egusi a 2. He was not impressed at all. He was actually disappointed in his meal. The pounded yam was fresh, but it was very lumpy according to my friend, I happened to enjoy the little bites of yam. We gave it a 3.5 Over all we give this place 3 stars out of 5 because we believe it could've been a lot better, however if I was in the area regularly I would eat here again.

Fufu and Pounded Yam with Egusi

I'll keep it short. Walked in, owner welcomed me with warm greetings, knew what I wanted, and food came out piping hot in minutes. Look, it might not be the most photogenic, but it's spicy, tasty, and just made me happy. A little bit of afrobeats in the background and it was perfect. Will be back soon for sure!!

Egusi soup (chicken and beef) and Fufu

Decided to try Nigerian food for the first time, and after seeing good reviews on Google and yelp decided to get the Egusi soup with chicken and beef only (no assorted meats), and the fufu. The soup was WAYYY better than I expected! Very flavorful, not too oily, chicken and beef cooked beautifully. The fufu didn't have much of a taste, reminded me of mashed potatoes but a little dough like. When you mix the fufu and soup together it's nice. I could've just eaten the soup all by itself! Has a little spicy kick to it, and is delicious when served Hot! I would definitely recommend the Egusi with chicken and beef only for newbies. It won't disappoint! Was a little on the pricey side, but the soup was worth it.

Staff is very welcoming. Lots of food Great placements The food was authentic and would eat here again to try different dishes

Having said this, I can't begin to tell you how excited I was to find Awash! I happened to be working in No. Miami and as always, no road trip will happen in my life without a laundry list of restaurants to try, and Awash popped up in my search! YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!!! I walked in and immediately the scent of butter & berbere wafted over me - causing me immense joy! The restaurant is very homey and unassuming. The staff is LOVELY! So welcoming and warm. I ordered Doro Wot, a small side of Zilzil Wot, Ethiopian salad and a small side of Alicha Wot - and some extra injera for sopping and I was NOT disappointed! Everything was deep, rich, complex and TOTALLY SATIFYING to body and soul. I will DEFINITELY be back - with my Fat Kid elastic waist pants on - to enjoy a sit-down feast!

The young man at the door, Amar, is incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can immediately see that it is a staple in the neighborhood. Not only are there people who seem to be regulars seating at a table, but couples in what appear to be dates, in booths all around. The decor is also incredibly beautiful, authentic, and on brand. But the star of the show was the food. Despite being 7:30PM I started by ordering the Ethiopian Coffee. There are only so many chances you're ever going to get to try coffee from the birthplace of coffee, and so, I had to. This was followed by the TASTE OF AWASH FOR (1) 26.99 & FOR (2) 35.99. Let's just say it was all to die for. The seasonings, the flavors, the softness of the enjera (the spongy, sour-fermented flatbread used to mix and spoon all the other elements). It was all so perfectly delicious! Amar's brother was also incredibly helpful. He finished our order and was incredibly gracious to answer a lot of our questions about Ethiopia, the region, and the history of the restaurant, which has been in business for 9 years. All in all, I highly recommend Awash Ethiopian Restaurant. In all honesty, I can't wait to go back!

I should've came months ago when he told me because I've been missing out. My boyfriend and I popped in on a Sunday shortly after they opened and were immediately greeted by a smiling, friendly woman wearing a Florida Panthers (Go Cats!) shirt so I already knew I was going to enjoy this place. The inside is super clean, organized and really easy to order. They have some tables outside, however we were planning on eating them down by the beach. As we stood there trying to decide which pies we wanted, she was sooo patient with us. Then, along came another smiling, friendly gentleman and I asked them both for help picking my third pie because I simply couldn't decide. We went with the chicken curry, lamb curry and beef steak (having to refrain myself from buying more)! Holy molyyyyyy these pies are beyondddd delicious. This is probably the only time I'll admit that the more crumbs I had on my shirt, the better! I have never tasted a more flaky, buttery, perfectly baked pastry like that in my life! The filling inside of each pie was fresh, hot, and absolutely made with LOVE! Both the chicken and lamb meat were sooo tender it made it so easy to enjoy; each bite we kept saying to each other: "wow!! this is good!!!" I'm kicking myself for not going back for more on my way home, but I cannot wait to visit again and SOON. This spot is truly one of a kind and I'll be thinking about these pies until I get back over there to try more of the options they have. I will be recommending this spot to any person I get the chance to tell! Yum yum yum!
