Ok, so I went to this location with some friends. Because I wanted to try some nigerian food. I have been to Nigerian restaurants in Miami. But I want to try this location now. The first thing I loved about it was that it felt like I was in Nigeria. The smells, the interior, the Nigerian household products for sell and the family helping out in the restaurant. All of this was nice but the main reason I was here was for the food. We had a lot, fufu, egusi, eba, jollof, steamed fish and puff puff. It was so amazing and bursting with flavor. Honey! Let me just say that I have been missing out! Ok! After some serious scrolling on Tiktok, I came across this new trend of trying/eating African food. Of the various videos, people were either eating egusi soup and fufu or okra soup and fufu. I opted for the egusi soup simply because from the videos I saw the okra was slimy. So after seeing this, of course the first thing I do is hop on yelp so see if there are any local African/nigerian food restaurants. Lo and behold there were 3 between Miami and Broward! Won't he do it?! Initially I was going to try a restaurant in the North Miami area but because of where I was and the laziness in me of not wanting to drive, I settled for Sheri. What's even crazier is that I have passed this restaurant plenty of times and always wondered what type of food they sold. Now if you are too bougie for whole in the wall establishments, this is not the restaurant for you. This is a half restaurant, half store. The food is out and uncovered but keeps the temperature. I saw that someone commented that they didn't like the fact that they warm your food up in the microwave. I asked her not to and the lady didn't complain. She actually explained why she microwaved it but I told her it was fine. To my surprise the food was piping hot. Especially the fufu. Now one thing I will say is that based on the videos I saw, this restaurant does not give you much egusi. Instead what they do is put about two spoonfuls of egusi and offer you a meat. You get to choose from beef, goat or chicken. Out of the three, the beef looked the best. Not to mention, I don't eat goat. The meat and the egusi was delicious. However honestly if I had to choose, I would have preferred more egusi and no meat. The fufu I discovered is nothing but pounded yam (potato). I even watched a video of how it was made on Tiktok. From the videos, I assumed it was some kind of wet dough. Just based off of pure appearance alone. It doesn't have a taste when eaten alone but with the egusi it is amazing! I am definitely going to try out the other restaurant just to see if they give more food. However on days when I don't feel like driving there, I will definitely come back here. read more

I came in and prepaid $32 to be able to pick up 20 puff puffs the next day at 8 am for a class. When I arrived the next day I waited until 8:30, at which time I could not wait any longer without being late to class. No one ever showed up to open the store. I called over 20 times through out the day and no one ever answered the phone. Not only did this restaurant steal from me, but my grade suffered as a result of not bringing in the food I was required to bring. This was a horrible experience. Recently there was a talk thread of Nigerian food on Yelp, which prompted my curiosity. I love adding pins on my imaginary culinary map. Sheri is right off Palmetto in a much bigger location than expected. I see a buffet counter with trays of food, behind glass. After assisting another customer the lady asked me what I wanted. I explained to her that I've never tried Nigerian food and not sure what to try. This is my standard phrase when visiting restaurants with unfamiliar cuisines. Usually I get a brief intro. If lucky I get an enthusiastic response with offers of samples. However, this lady sure didn't seem thrilled. She was probably rolling her inner eyes. I pointed to a dish with chunks of meat and bones and asked her what that is. "Meat" came the answer. Geez who would have thought! I pointed to another with what appears to be some grains. "Is this rice?" "No." "Vegetables?" "No." I asked her how much are the dishes, she said $12, but I was unsuccessful figuring out what goes into the $12? Any two entree? Three? With rice? Rice only? She held up a lump wrapped in aluminum foil and said, this is $12 but I had no idea what that is. And unfortunately it's not a barrier of limited English. After a few very awkward and unsuccessful rounds of twenty questions, she asked, "where are you from?" Not in the friendly, curious manner about how I came to this place, but rather a rebuking, don't you know you don't belong here challenge. Tired of my questions, she told me to look at the menu, which is helpfully filled with foreign words and no description or picture. I am amazed at myself... it was a couple of minutes after she walked back into the kitchen that I realized: 1. She is not coming back out. 2. It is not rude for me to just turn and go. I'm so happy I was able to find this place. About an hour ago, I went to another Nigerian Resturant in the area to find the doors locked and the owner out on an errand. Having driven 30 minutes and not wanting to waste my gas, I waited 30 minutes for the owner to return, to no avail. Needless to say, I didn't leave a good review. I found this Resturant on google and I'm glad I gave them chance. That Egusi soup was very good. She mixed it with stew and gave me some pounded yam. It's $15 dollars for Egusi (a bit steep if you ask me) but it tasted good. The only problem I had was the fact that they microwave your food to serve, and do it in front of you. All of the food it sitting out, and when you order thru microwave it and give it to you. Other than that, don't hesitate to buy some Nigerian food from here. The portion sizes are decent. Contrary to what most reviews have mentioned, the food is the exact opposite of bland. It is not processed and is 100% authentic and amazing. I had the spinach, beef, and the recommended Spicy chicken. Very spicy (comparable to wasabi) yet amazing. Service is great, very friendly staff, and more importantly clean! They seemed very interested in providing good customer service to keep me coming back (which I will :).
