Let me first say I'm all about second chances, which is why I returned to this Moe's for a second time. I wanted to give these folks a chance to redeem themselves, unfortunately they continued to fail... We arrived at the restaurant around 7:45pm on a Friday night the first time and upon walking up to place our order we were promptly told "We're out of BBQ, sorry!". Turns out, they were out of almost everything on the menu. Now I'm not sure how you run a BBQ restaurant without BBQ, but after inquiring what else they did have on the menu we elected to leave peacefully. On the second visit, we arrived about 6:50pm on the very next Friday and we're greeted with a 10-15 minute wait to place our order. When we finally reached the order window, my mouth was watering from all the smells of BBQ and smokiness. Upon our greeting, I requested the two meat combo - ribs and chicken. FOR THE SECOND TIME IN TWO FRIDAYS, I was promptly told that Moe's was out of ribs and wouldn't have anymore for the night, or if they did it would be a very long time. Loved this place. We were staying in an Airbnb nearby and I was looking for some BBQ and Moe's popped up on Yelp. I stopped by and ordered carry out. I had the pulled pork with baked beans and Mac & cheese. It was all really good. The pulled pork was lean and very flavorful......the sauce was excellent. The atmosphere was rustic and enjoyable. The problem it seems, and they say staffing, is that they don't have prominent items from there menu on a regular occurrence.......baked potatoes, homemade chips for their nachos, salads and and whatever there daily special is supposed to be. This place is bbq perfection. The menu alone will make your mouth water. Great environment. Very homey and comfortable. It's tucked away in Daphne which gives it a great local spot feel. It truly is a gem. The food is smoked and served with love. Great sides. Everything was full of flavor and the atmosphere was all awesome. You are surrounded with good vibes. Wow wow wow. Lets put it this way when I put the first fork bite of the bake beans in my mouth I smiled. This place is so cool and the people who work here is so cool. Let Bar-B-Que fans take notice. Moe's in Daphne is quite possibly the best in Mobile and Baldwin County. I have visited the Moe's in downtown Mobile, which is good, but far from great. I was reluctant to try another location for fear of finding the same. I was craving some Bar-B-Que and took a chance. The outward appearance is reminiscent of an old hole in the wall Southern Bar-B-Que joint. It has all the proper wording and decor to take you back in time. I'm already pleased, but my taste buds aren't as easy to satisfy. I came here to experience the food, not the decor. I entered and had to wander around aimlessly and finally ask someone how to order my food. This is an old brick house that has been converted to a restaurant. The menu is on the wall written in chalk on a blackboard. However, a printed version is available. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, collard greens and pickled cold slaw. I paid and was directed around the corner to the next room. Oh yeah, I reviewed my glass for my tea. I was order 152, nothing significant or nostalgic about the number. I walked around the corner and witnessed a person in the kitchen place a meal on the slide through wall area and say "152!" What? How can this be? I double checked and waited for another customer to step up, but it was my meal. The baked beans looked great, but wait, I didn't order baked beans. I ordered collard greens. I assumed that it was meant for me to eat the baked beans, so I did. The sandwich was outstanding, as was the pickled slaw and um, the baked beans. This is real Southern smoked Bar-B-Que! Yes!! Finally, I have found what my body is craving. I needed this and I got it! Now, as if the food wasn't enough, there is more. Alabama memorabilia adorned the wall next to me. Pictures of the Bear, and the famous George Teague ball strip in the '92 championship game. This place even has an Elvis painting. I begin to wrestle with the thought that my life must have ended today, for this must be heaven. Blues music plays from the kitchen into the dining rooms too. Yep, I'm in heaven. The menu is enormous and has daily specials. I want to own this place, it is so good. When I left, all parking spots were taken and cars were lining up on both sides of the street. My timing was perfect. I can't wait for a return visit. I must caution you, don't go here unless you can handle a new addiction. read more

Stopped for lunch on our way home to New Orleans! So glad we did!!! Cute location and food was delicious. I had the pulled pork platter with Mac n cheese and peach cobbler. Pork was delicious, no fat all meat! BBQ sauce was slightly spicy...yum! Husband had the pulled pork platter with the homemade chips and Oreo pudding as his two sides. Chips were good, my daughter kept stealing them. Reminded us of Zapps potato chips. Both our meals came with delicious jalapeño cornbread. So good, not dry at all! Girls each had the kids meals and liked what they had. Chicken tenders and Oreo pudding, the other daughter had a pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese. Let this go down in my Yelp history, that to date, that Review #142 has been the most painful to write. To sum it up, after all the smack I talk about not eating what is called BBQ around here, I have to swallow my pride (gulp) and admit that ..... I like Moe's. (Slowly exhale). My husband kept on me to try Moe's because he likes that he can smell smoke when we pass it. I finally gave in and gave it a try. The atmosphere is definitely worthy of 5 stars. No BBQ place in Memphis could compete with the atmosphere and location. Best of all, the patio is pet friendly! Jazzy will be so happy she gets to tag along next time! The food, well honestly, it was pretty good. The meat had a nice pink smoke ring, wasn't dry and had a great smoky flavor. I opted for just the white BBQ sauce to try something new. I think it was the right choice. The hubs got the red sauce, which was a little too thin and had too much vinegar for my taste. They have an extensive selection of sides and beer. As my sides, I ordered dressing, which had more of a stuffing texture, and mashed potato casserole, which was excellent. My son had the potato salad and it was definitely the best choice. The texture and flavor were both impeccable. On my second visit, I had the shrimp Moe-boy, which is shrimp fried in a catfish batter with slaw on a toasted bun. It's not huge, but it is absolutely delicious. Maybe someday we'll try the ribs, but since I'm married to the absolute best pittmaster I know, I'll have to work my way up to restaurant ribs. Three sandwiches with two sides each and three drinks set us back about $30. That price made it even better. Now, that wasn't so hard. Simple but delicious. This restaurant is tucked away on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the outdoor area features live entertainment most nights. Patrons order their meals at a window next to the door where the menu is scrawled on a wall. Food is delivered thru another window in the next room. I had a pulled pork sandwich, Bama style with green beans and carrot salad. Hubby had the pulled pork plate with green beans and baked beans. Son had the catfish plate. The Pork was very good and the green beans and baked beans were fantastic. Even the catfish was good, and I don't usually like fish unless it is on a taco. Really chill place in sort of an isolated area. I tried the combo with smoked chicken and fried catfish. Chicken was ok, I kind of expected more out of a bbq place. The real stand out was the catfish, which tasted really fresh and meat-y. The thing that really got me about this place though was the Mac N' Cheese side. Very good food -- tasty smoked BBQ pork that has kind of a sweet flavor without sauce. Get a pork sandwich served 'Bama style (slaw on top). Ribs are good too.....once again, good without sauce -- but I always add a little. Great rotating selection of side dishes that you would not find in a typical BBQ restaurant -- including things like squash casserole, cheese grits, etc. Cool atmosphere in a rustic environment with live music. Looking for some southern comfort food after a long day. Neither wife nor I felt like cooking, so it took very little arm twisting to put in a "to go order" at Moe's. Some of the best BBQ in the south alabama area. Having frequented this establishment on numerous occasions and with number on speed dial, no menu was needed and order was ready for pickup when we arrive 15 minutes later. Pulled pork, mac n cheese and hash brown casserole along with fresh corn bread....I know I know...but I had been good in picking healthy choices this week and a bit of a splurge was good for the soul. Plus we paired it with a great sangiovesee when we got home...strictly for health reason..lol. I am giving this review a rating of 3 only because the temperature during my meal was very cold during the Alabama vs Ohio game. Otherwise I would given a lower score because the temperature of the food due to the climate was beyond their control. Everything in my meal was cold. As for the flavor,it was pretty much bland. We are a frequenter of Moe's BBQ in Foley so when we got the craving while out shopping in Spanish Fort we stopped in this location tonight around 4:00. Same great food and flavor with some different side options than Foley, which we enjoyed. The 3 of us shared our meals as always so we could try a little of everything: the Burger, pulled bbq pork sandwich, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, tater tots, and hush puppies were all delicious! Only a 4 star because it was a long wait to not be busy, and overall the restaurant is dark inside and looks run down. You have to ask for to go boxes or cups, where in Foley it's conveniently located where you can grab it yourself without bothering an employee. We love Moe's though as their food is always delicious, so we will definitely go back if in the area when we get a BBQ craving. read more

Our go to place for Wings ! We don't eat pork but If any comparison to the wings its probably a winner too! The Spicy Garlic wings are so awesome (not to spicy, just enough heat) ! We haven't tried any of the other flavors because those are just too good ! White barbecue sauce goes perfectly with this flavor for sure!
