When I got there the girl up front was smiley and nice to a gentleman that was leaving the place and the minute my bf and I were acknowledged, the girl said: y'all know what you want? - in a hostile tone. I proceeded to tell her what I wanted but forgot my second size and she rudely flipped the menu and pointed. At the end I walked away from her unpleasant self (without my drink) and again, rudely: do you want your drink? Had a hard time getting to place. The city has the street in front torn up by chance we turned in area going to shopping center an saw a sign to Moe's. After our visit I wish I had not seen the sign and went some else! I would give the food a 4. I would give the hassle of the ordering process a 4 also. I have been in two other Moes BBQ and know the ordering process and this was not that good. The pulled pork we had was not very good. It was dry and the sauce did not help. We normally go to Sonney's in Pensacola, FL but have been looking for a BBQ place closer to Fairhope, AL. This is not it. In my first banana pudding with the first bite, I uncovered some dark orange substance my wife said it looked like egg yolk, the girl at the counter said it was not mixed up too good. She got me another and while eating it I ran into some dark brown gel substance. When I showed to the girl, she said it was banana puree. If anything, it looked like rotten bananas. read more

Being a Southern native, and specifically a Georgian, I give this BBQ an A+. It's truly one of the best BBQ sandwiches I've ever had in 51 years. The meat was so fresh that I'm feeling certain they must raise their own pigs out back. And way to go with the most delectable vinegar-based BBQ sauce! Even a pig would beg to drink this sauce! I would highly suggest the baked beans and Mac n Cheese as your 2 sides, and I would steer clear of the smashed potato salad and marinated Cole slaw, both of which I had to return because the flavors were not like any Southern recipes I've ever known. Unfortunately, those 2 sides need improvement. But overall, this is the best restaurant I've had in Alabama so far and not to be missed upon a visit to Daphne or Mobile. read more

Pretty good BBQ! My husband and I were in the area and got take out from Moe's. We saw they had Pimento cheese and chips as an appetizer and had to try it. It was pretty tasty even to me, someone that doesn't really care for pimento cheese. The home style chips are what set it apart. I had the pulled pork sandwich "Bama Style" and my husband had the smoked turkey sandwich. They both had white sauce, bbq sauce and cole slaw on them. The cole slaw was seriously my favorite part. Tangy and crunchy - I will be dreaming about that for the next month. Also, kudos to them for their bbq sauce. Great flavor and really added the little extra pizzazz to our sandwiches. Such a good meal. This did not fail. Everything was scrumptious. I ordered the select two meats. Sausage and chicken. Both were packed with flavor all the way through the meat. Not just surface flavor. Sides were awesome. Mac n cheese was delish. Cornbread was great and the gumbo was fantastic. First of all, BBQ is a very personal thing. Everyone has their opinion on what's the best. I love BBQ but this was not my favorite. I got the pulled pork platter. The meat was sloppy wet, not with sauce. I like crispy ends and lots of smoke flavor. This was anything but crispy bits and didn't have much smoke. Seems more like it was cooked in a crock-pot than smoked. I didn't see or smell any smoke from outside and it was even brisket night. I've had lots of BBQ sauces and I'm not sure what to call this. I didn't like it. I prefer a Kansas City style with balanced spice and sweet. Or I like eastern NC style vinegar and hot sauce. This was tangy I guess. More orange than red. Sort of made me think there was some French salad dressing in the mix. I did like that they keep the bottles of sauce warm in a crock-pot! Great idea! I wanted to try their white sauce but there wasn't any at the self-serve station. The service was good. Mac n cheese was good. Chips were good. The order taker didn't tell us about special sides of the day so we didn't know about them until we we're leaving. I'd eat here if the group wanted to, but I wouldn't suggest it. read more

My family and I love this place. One of the signs of a great restaurant is consistency, and this place has it. My go to is the dry rub smoked wings, usually with baked beans and Mac n cheese. They are always flavorful and perfectly done. The cornbread is even great. My son is a big fan of the chicken tenders. You'll not have a bad meal here. Way super-serious yuck!!!! This was not my first time at Moe's and I love the location and even the atmosphere. It was a beautiful day and since I had errands in the area I decided to pick up a late lunch to take down the road to the Bay. First the woman that took my order was not pleasant at all. When I walked back in to pick up my food a man was on the phone shopping hard for paper to-go bags. Once he ended that conversation and brought me my order he asked if I wanted a bag. I was afraid to say "yes" for fear of upsetting him about the vendor situation! So he handed me the container and sent me on my way - no utensils, napkins - nothing. About two minutes later I was on the pier, after using my trunk picnic supplies, about to eat a fairly heavy meal. There was not one edible bite in that styrofoam! I ordered the small ribs with two sides. The wrong two sides were on the plate. One was mac-n-cheese that was cold and had a stiff piece of velveeta cheese on top. The second was broccoli and cheese that was just gross. It was milky, runny and old. But - how can I ignore the ribs? Mind you I lived in Memphis for a couple of decades and was on a Memphis in May BBQ for five years. But let's just pretend SPAM is something I consider tasty.... Compared to these four ribs I would eat SPAM covered in Mayo before I would take another bite of what I bought for $13. All four of the ribs were of poor quality and covered in fat and membrane. Now we all know this cut of meat needs fat to create the flavor and taste, but I am talking about THICK layers of fat on the outer surface. It and the membrane should have been removed before the ribs were seasoned. Oh yeah - they missed that part too but seemed to be fine letting them overcook in a smoker. Lazy! Then, they were old, dry and one of the bites I could not chew enough to shallow. Hopefully the fish in Mobile Bay are able to handle the food better than I was able. There was no dry rub on the meat. The sauce was perhaps the worse I have ever had - perhaps 45% ketchup. There was a strange piece of bread that was fresh. It was very over-buttered and a cross between bread and a corn muffin. So add up bad service, an incorrect order, no utensils and some of the worse food I have eaten in years and you are lucky to have a star at all. read more

I gave management a week to respond but they didn't. Ordered $150 worth of food at 2:55. person on the phone said she needed to talk to the kitchen. Came back and said it would be ready at 3:30. Got there and paid at 3:33. After waiting 20 minutes I asked how much longer, and was told 10 more minutes. Frustrated, I asked, then what was the point of calling in the order? I was met with "I don't know" before she turned to walk away. I snapped, "get me your manager." Keep in mind it was not busy. A few people came and went, but employees were milling around and talking among themselves. Out walks a person who was working the back of the house claiming to be a Manager. I told them my concern, showing them the receipt and was met with "AND?" At that point I was angry and said, "what's the point of ordering ahead of time?" They said, "you want your okra soggy?" I snapped, "NO I WANT MY ORDER READY WHEN YOU SAID." They said, " people don't show up. You want yo money back?" I said NO, I have an hour drive and an 86 year old waiting for me to bring him this food...... after a few more exchanges I finally got my food. No apologies from anyone. I looked at my receipt later and was even charged a 10% service charge. I don't know who does the hiring, but we won't be back because of this encounter. It's really upsetting considering we have used their catering more than once and planned to use it again for an event we are having. All that to say BEWARE if you order ahead or if you have an issue with an order. They will not care and have no idea how to speak to customers. And the owner who their email contact copied on my original request to discuss the issue will not respond beyond "how can we help you?" read more

Like the foley location better than Daphne, the open room rather than everything being "chopped up ", like the music in Daphne, portions are larger in Foley. Always get the smoked turkey sandwich, it's great, the sides are hit and miss. read more

I need to start this review by saying I come from the BBQ Capitol of the world, Memphis! This was good solid BBQ, we had a party of 4 and it was Trivia night. The atmosphere is laid back, casual and comfortable. Indoor, outdoor or bar seating. The food was good and the portions generous. We started off sharing Moe's Nachos, their chips are homemade potato chips not corn chips! They were good and it worked. Baked beans with chips piled on, then pulled pork with red and Bama style white sauce with Jalapeno's. Enough for 4 people with one order. I had the pulled pork platter with greens and hash brown casserole with outrageous cornbread! Wifey had wings, friend had Catfish and a Shrimp PoBoy, all were good. We took Banana pudding home for dessert, too full to eat it then. I give Moe's BBQ in Daphne high marks for atmosphere, service and food! It will satisfy your cravings for good Southern BBQ and be a fun night out as well. Update 10/28/2017: Here's a pro tip for parties: for $11.00 per person (we threw a party for 15 at our house), we got pulled pork with traditional red and also Bama white sauce, buns, two sides, we chose beans and cold slaw, 2 gallons of ice tea, sweet and unsweetened, with sliced lemons. Third time we drank and ate at this joint. Reading some of the reviews I noted one saying the staff was rude. I haven't seen it. Now we eaten inside, first visit, you go to the window, order your food. When it's ready you pick it up, sit down, enjoy. What's rude about that. The food tasty, reasonability priced, the place rustic, we like it. Last couple times we've eaten down at the bar, first outside, last Saturday sat at the Bar. Brent been behind the Bar both times. Brents busy, he manages it well, keeps everything straight, he's alert, attentive, rude he's not. I'd like to have Brent working for me, bet he makes a lot more friends than he pisses people off. Now for the eats. Fish sandwich, right up there, BBQ Pork, moist and tasty, smoked turkey sandwich, a home run.
